- PennyPe_201300Wonderful food tour in Phuket townExcellent food tour for a day! Nam the tour guide was knowledgeable and provides excellent insights into the origin of the food and local people. Definitely one wouldn’t be able to get the richness of the experience on one’s own. I’d highly recommend this tour if you love food!
- JB041800So much food and a wonderful guide! This was my 2nd food tour in a week with the same company and after all the different food I ate on the first tour I thought I would be in for a repeat (worth it), but I was pleasantly surprised that not only were the stops different, we had different food as well. Nam was the guide and she was wonderful, always making sure food allergies and preferences were considered. She even gave extra attention to the two kids in the group to keep them interested (though their parents already spent a lifetime doing that, they were so polite and adventurous!). The food was excellent and there was plenty of it. There were about 6 or 7 stops with several offering more than one item. We didn’t seem to walk far between stops and at the end I was hoping for a walk around the block before eating again! Highly recommended! I wish they had A Chefs Tour closer to me in Seattle and Portland.
- triwarrior00Go for it- on an empty tummy 😝If you need a food adventure- this is it. Good food Good learning Good guide- Khun Nam 👍💕 This tour covers my bf, lunch and. dinner. Tummy happy 😋
- JoannaB15000A great way to taste ThailandA great way of seeing and tasting the authentic Thai food. Lucky was a great guide and we had a great time with an adventurous small group.
- V4098OLchrish00Best food tour ever!Best food tour ever... absolutely outstanding and would go again in a heart beat... wasn't just a food tour, it was a history lesson of phuket... look, do yourself a favour and book now... come hungry though..
- IHave3Kids00A tummy-full time with Nam, our lovely hostNam was a lovely host and her hospitality knows no bounds! Our family of 6 (with an 83-year old member) had a tummy-full time & loved all the food sampling although by the end of it, we could only stomach the food when we shared a single portion amongst ourselves!!! She’s very knowledgeable about the history and food culture in Thailand and patiently provided us with much information throughout! Along the way, my eldest daughter felt faint and needed to return to the hotel. Nam was kind enough to call her a Grab and helped to ensure that she was safely in the cab before we proceeded to our next tasting. She didn’t rush us despite the food tour ending much later than expected either. After the tour, she was even helpful to ensure our family found the nearby local pharmacy, local convenience store and mango sticky rice - all to support the locals - which I think is fantastic! She’s a true gem!
- veronl202200A very good local food trip by LuckyIt was truly a very good food trip on foot, highly recommended. We were able to explore the local food with our friendly & knowlegable tour guide, Lucky. Lucky not only did awesome job in introducing local food to us but also took good care of us throughout the 4 hours trip. I was travelling with 2 elderly parents & 2 teens and all of us were very well-taken care of. Good job, Lucky & thanks the team in the good communication before the trip.
- 965tinnag00Food FanaticsThe Baba Tastes food tour was an amazing experience for my friend and I. I enjoyed each and every bite or sip of the food and drinks offered. There were 7 stops in total with some stops having more than one dish to try. We were full by the 5th stop but we managed to take more food in as it was appealing especially having heard the history of the food, how it was prepared and how it is now a part of Phuket culture. Our tour guide was Kat who is very articulate and clearly explained to us in English how the dishes originated and how they still remain as favourites of the locals. The tour ran for 3 - 4 hours walking from from 1 stop to another with 100 - 300 meters away from each other. We did it in the afternoon until early evening, which I reckon is the ideal time to do this tour so we didn't have to deal with the heat of the sun. We sampled some of the highly regarded dishes of Phuket and I would recommend this tour to any foodie who visits Phuket
- P5389ROeric00Local market, food, and history of how so many SEA are in PhuketGreat hospitality, lots of energy and shared lots of local history and cuisine! Better than we have expected with lots of food and drinks :)
- gerrytruth00A great fun experienceA superb entertaining food tour run by Lucky who put so much fun and enjoyment into it. The food was of a great variety of flavours from local restaurants. Top class experience.
- alexb49400Can’t wait to do this again.Amazing (!!!) food tour, sampling 18 different local dishes across the most picturesque locations in Phuket old town. Our guide, Nam, absolutely brilliant - told us lots about both the dishes, their meaning , origin , peppered with local history. Can’t decide what I loved most - the old lady that has been making soups and never thought foreigners would love her soups (they do!), a little girl serving hibiscus drink, or the most aesthetically elaborate ice cream in a cafe that almost came from 1930s - all was amazing, hats off to Nam. P.s. what’s important the tour targets local family businesses that we as tourists otherwise would miss. I’ll come again.
- michaelsL6197AH00Excellent food tour of places I would not have found!Lucky was our tour guide for this excursion, and was excellent in every way. Funny, professional, and extremely knowledgeable about the history of the cuisine. We went to a wide variety of market stalls and restaurants, all local and family owned. It was a geographical tour that took us through the cuisines of several nations. Highly recommended!
- billybH6505TR00Authentic food tourNana was an extremely knowledgable, friendly and welcoming guide who gave us a real insight into the mixed food history and culture of Phuket. Some amazing dishes and served in places you probably wouldn’t consider stopping at first glance. Just make sure you don’t fill up too quickly and there is a lot of food to eat!
- SandyN61100Must try!!What a great tour with our tour guide Nana. She was very kind and informative. We had one full day in Phuket and decided to add this tour to our day and were so glad that we did. We loved that the tour was in Old Phuket town, a lively busy, area for eating and shopping. We went to 7 different restaurants and it was PLENTY of food. Sadly we were only able to eat half or 1/3rd of the main dishes. The food was amazing and different than what we were eating during the rest of the trip. We wish we had started this tour in the beginning of our two week trip. Highly recommend! We also enjoyed meeting and spending time with the other members in the group.
- becbecbee00An excellent tourI attended this tour hosted by Nam, on 15/11/23 and can safely say it was an excellent experience, she was an excellent tour guide. She was knowledgeable and made sure each member of the group was comfortable and any preferences or allergies they had were accommodated. She gave us a history of the area as well as the foods we were eating. Tour was well paced with plenty of food. I tried many things I otherwise wouldn’t have and had a great time. Thank you Nam!

My wife and I recently did the Phuket Old Town Food Tour which we booked before our holiday as it was popular. Pena was our guide and we met her on the steps of Phuket Town Central Market ( our taxi driver from the hotel phoned her to confirm this, others also had a little trouble with taxis taking them to the right area as there is more than one market). The journey was approximately 40 minutes from Patong. Arrive early so that you can look around the market before the tour starts as the fish market is not part of the tour.
As we were a group of eight it was easy for us to hear Pena , her explanation of the old town and the various plants that you could eat that were growing on the street. The food that we had on the tour was both tasty and overall way too much, don't try eating it all at the start or you will struggle later on and certainly don't have breakfast before the tour! She even stopped an ice cream seller on his bike for us to have ice cream on the street!
Overall a great tour and a good way of seeing the old town and tasting local food. Highly recommend. Our tour was from 10am until 2pm which was long enough in the hot and humid weather.

I cannot speak highly enough of this tour.
First of all the tour guide was an absolute champ. She was friendly, very knowledgeable, very good with kids (both my young boys joined the tour), very respectful and just great in her whole presence.
The food were out of this world. If you want to discover the history and the food in which thai food has developed then this tour is for you.
The mixture of ingredients are amzaing. my Culture is not too far from the Thai cuisine and I am still amaze how the flavours are put together. Chinese/viet (my background) and the thai food are very similar YET so different. There are a lot to enjoy and to appreciate on this food tour.
There is definitely more to this tour than just read it as "Food tour". The people you meet on the tour are extraordinary open and wise people and they really added the specialness to the whole experience.
my family had thoroughly enjoyed this tour its worth every penny and the walk around the town learning the history was a pleasant bonus.
thank you!

More than just authentic local food, our tour Guide Pama ( Apologies if I have the spelling wrong ) was a true local. Going from food outlet to outlet was like we were visiting family...we were welcomed and treated with genuine warm smiles every where she took us.
If your a foodie and into Thai just go ... you won't be disappointed.

This was a highlight of our stay in Phuket Old Town. From the minute we met Pema it was clear we were in for a treat! All her tidbits of information gleaned from her experiences growing up in and around the town to her intricate knowledge of various food types and specific dishes across several countries, as well as regions to the interactions she had with many people in the neighbourhood, Pema was a never ending source of information. It was far more than a gastronomical tour, she shared an historical perspective of the make up of the island of Phuket and made many references to the social impact of the end of tin mining and the growth of the post-Colonial monied class.
She clearly has a love of local food and eagerly and enthusiastically shared the best that Old Town Phuket has to offer. We totally enjoyed our day and the sampling of a diverse number of specialty foods! An unforgettable experience! ขอขอบคุณ

This food tour was a highlight of my solo trip to Phuket, a gem I discovered through a blogger. Our guide, Khun Nam, was an effervescent host with a personality straight out of a food travel show. She immediately put the entire group at ease, fostering a warm and joyful atmosphere that helped us bond quickly. We did more than just eat; we laughed together, thanks to Khun Nam's engaging style.
The tour began with a visit to a local market, where she shared insights about regional ingredients. From there, we sampled dishes at multiple venues, each deserving an 11/10 rating for Michelin-quality food.
If you're a solo traveler keen to explore both Phuket Old Town and its culinary scene, I highly recommend this tour. It's worth every penny! Khun Nam even surprised us with a birthday cake, adding a personal touch to an already fantastic experience. I can't wait to return and bring my family along for the tour!

From the minute we met our guide we knew we were in good hands. Nam has a great energy, love and knowledge of all things Phuket Town. Staying at the beach resorts can be quite isolating and lacking in cultural experiences. On this tour with Nam we felt fully immersed in the local food scene. At each restaurant the history of the food, the owner and the building was explained and as Nam said, understanding the full story of the foods we eat magnifies our enjoyment of every mouthful. Be warned that there is an awful lot of food to be tasted so be sure to pace yourself. We were exploding by the end so thank goodness it was a walking tour. Thank you Nam for a great experience.

Brilliant! I’ve never eaten so much food in my entire life! Pema was an absolutely brilliant guide to the Phuket food adventure bringing so much knowledge and laughter to the day! We went through the local market first learning about how dishes are made and local ingredients before the eating began! Such a wide range of dishes, you really feel looked after at every venue (largely due to the guides excellent relationships with the different owners), this was great value for money and I highly recommend it. Alongside the amazing food we learned more about Phuket history/culture on this than we did on an actual tour. Brilliant

I walked up the stairs to the meeting point in front of the central market to meet my guide. Little did I know this kind, unassuming native would share with me her love of her home town and some of the best local specialities. Our 4 hour scheduled trip turned into in a private 7 hour belly busting walking tour of Phuket. Anthony Bourdain would have loved her as the fifth generation Phuketian showed me the past influences and history of Phuket, to see beyond the old facades and new murals to see the human story, to see her community, and the love of great food.
Behind the storefronts is a story of the past slowly succumbing to the future, a story repeated around the world of the pungent wet market, and afternoon markets gradually being displaced by the new, squeaky clean super stores.
Walking through the streets in the Old Town we gorged ourselves on local specialties and walked past sumptuous homes of former tin mining barons, saw the influences of the Portuguese, Dutch, Chinese, Indian, Malay and Sea Gypsies to create a truly unique culture more similar to Penang in Malaysian than any other Thai city. It was a feast for the senses and made me see this resort island in a totally different light.

We did this food tour during our recent stay in Phuket. This tour can have up to eight guest but the day we did it, it turned out to be just my family of three. Peema our guide was amazing, she is very passionate about her community, its culture and food. All of the food we tasted was lovely, you certainly do not need breakfast prior the tour!!
Peema spent nearly four hours with us walking all over Phuket old town, our favourite was the amazing crepe and the local ice cream but all the other food was delicious too.
Peema also send photos the next day of our tour.
We would throughly recommend this tour to anyone wanting a very local experience.

10-2, as advertised. The tour guide is enthusiastic and kept feeding us more stuff though so it could have gone til 2:30. The area is great for shopping and walking around so if arranging a cab, you might want to be picked up an hour or two later than that even. If you do the tour on a Sunday (if available), they close the street down for a night market, which sounded incredible. Sadly, I missed it in my time there.
