Our guide Oolala was excellent and very knowledgeable, we really enjoyed our tour. She gave us plenty of details about the places we visited and was helpful and courteous throughout.

        Speed dating
I think it was because of cortisol, the stress hormone. I was so fatigued on getting back from our Grand European Tour river cruise, by Viking. I slept a lot. Jet lag played a role. A week later and I am mostly recovered and able to reflect a bit. The Danube (like the Rhine, which we ended up on) is a river with a history. On the cruise I read chilling accounts of the the last century's tumult. Several fellow passengers were Jewish, pilgrims to lands from whence their ancestors were sent to death camps or Siberia. The (remaining) Austrians struck me as bossy, and the Germans more iron-fisted still. Owning a large dog in Regensburg will cost you 900 euros a year! Jaywalking comes with a 90 euro fine. But there is nary a cigarette butt or graffiti to be found in the many picturesque villages that dot the river's edge. These are older populations, among the world's oldest. And very orderly. I'll digress: It is unclear to me how river cruises benefit the towns. Perhaps it's the docking fees, because almost all of our eating and sleeping was done on board. They all fade into each other. I think we ended up docking 12 times in 14 days, most of them, to the best of my recollection, at small, picturesque river towns in Bavaria and thereabouts. And though each was different, special in its own ways, I'll have to review the photos to remember how. It was the vacation equivalent of speed dating. The whole Viking experience is built around the meal schedule and the fact that the group tables make socialization unavoidable. It, too, is a form of speed dating. You will meet a lot of people during meals, most of them in their 70s or 80s, some of whose names and former careers you will actually remember -- Tommy, a Texas lobbyist, Morris, the Sydney barrister, Jodi, the school teacher from Vancouver. In a crowd like this, medical complaints are a surefire way to keep conversations going. There are 147 passengers and about 40 meals in total, so in theory you can meet everyone. All on our ship were English speakers, many from the far reaches. The Aussies and New Zealanders all seemed to have been on long vacations, none less than 4 months. Viking doesn't exactly enforce dining times, but if you show up fashionably late your service isn't as good, and the meal might not be complete. Even so, it's hard to complain: for the most part you are pampered -- the menus, the wine, your persistent housekeeper. There is a lot of nudging but the experience is designed to be all encompassing. There are optional tours, with local guides, for activities such as wine or beer tasting. The best one we had turned out to be a personal tour of Cologne Cathedral (no one else signed up). But most stops feature "included" tours, which, like meals, start and end at scheduled times and include many passengers. Your whole life is structured thus. What all this closeness also means is that everyone (not an exaggeration) gets whatever bug is going around. I fought a fever. Then, it was my wife's turn. Others had serious bronchial complications. I don't think it was covid -- I don't know, I didn't test, though we were vaxxed beforehand. Whatever, it was a nasty bug. Adding to the cortisol were the knees. My step-counter says we walked nearly 60 miles on the various tours! To be honest, what really stressed us both out was the intensive, nonstop socializing. For us, a little company is fine, but too much can be overwhelming. Fourteen days, omg. By the end, we were physically and mentally exhausted, overdosed on cortisol and ready to bolt. I can't remember ever viewing the end of a vacation with such relief. One feels vaguely decadent for whining about something so posh. It was posh. But there you have it. It was probably our last river cruise.

        Great day out
Wow, what an amazing day we had. Tour leader Kity ( Miss Coco) and driver Mr Loi were great. Pick up and drop off at hotel was as expected. Provided lunch was delicious. Well organised day out. Tips….. take small notes to buy from the Long neck ladies village. Long pants for ladies and pack extra water. You can’t touch the water at the hot springs. Was hoping for a dip !! The white palace was an absolute highlight of our day. Thank you to our group for a memorable day out. Highly recommend this tour. Pick up 7.30 am drop off 9.30pm. Worth every $$$

Great tour with an informative guide - JJ
We did a private tour with the guide JJ. He was very good, he gave us a lot of information and background about the temples and the area. He was very personable and made the tour interesting. I would highly recommend it, it is worth seeing and having a tour so you get the background information.

        OOH LA LA!
Our tour guide, Ooh (aka: OOH LA LA), was amazing! She’s so intelligent about all things we discussed along the trip. She speaks excellent English and we followed along easily. The beautiful temples and culture of the people and city are incredible. Such a great tour!

        Tourist trap.
Terrible. Tourist trap. Only the making of the umbrellas was interesting to see. Everyone istrying to sell stuff. We expected to see the craftsmanship, but that is not what we got.

        Super disappointing 1/2 day
No interest to visit Hmong tribe village on the doi suthep way, nothing worth seeing and they only propose you a shop visit. Not traditionnal at all. Village is even not nice to see. Doi suthep OK but you can get a cab from chiang mai to visit. Do not soend your money for this tour

Had an excellent time with ‘Ooh La La’, our tour guide. Very knowledgeable, providing detailed history of the sites we visited and provided insight into life in Chiang Mai. Would definitely recommend.

A great introduction to Chiang Mai
My first visit to Chiang Mai began on a high note with this tour. My guide was able to provide me with a wealth of detail about the various locations that we visited, even though I was only able to take in a limited amount. The tour covered some interesting locations in the old city that I would probably have wandered past without noticing if I'd been exploring on my own. The highlight was the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple up on the mountain.

Private Tour of Chiang Mai Temples with Noom
I wish I could leave a 10 star review for this private tour we had. When I booked the tour, there was only a small price difference between the group tour and the private tour so I upgraded to the private tour. We were a group of four people, myself, my two kids aged 10-12 and my 70 year old dad. We were picked up at our hotel by our guide named NOOM. Noom was genuine and personal from the minute we met him, making reference to my daughter Sophia and the children’s cartoon, Sophia the first. Noom was a fountain of knowledge, there was literally no question he couldn’t answer. It also helped that he spoke great English. We traveled through many temples, with him explaining the history behind all of them. He taught us lots about how men become Buddhist monks, the history behind the religion and the story behind the white elephant. Part way through the morning my kids mentioned they were hungry (we didn’t eat breakfast because we left at 630am) and he made a special road side stop for us to grab fresh fruit. At the final stop, my dad who was with us couldn’t make the 303 steps due to a hip injury, so Noom bought him a ticket for the tram so he could meet us at the top. 10/10 I highly recommend this experience to anyone who’s coming to Chiang Mai and wants to learn about the history. Oh, and no need to ask strangers to take your photos because Noom is a great photographer and will offer many photo-ops along the way.

We are party of four - went to this whole day trip. Tour guide and driver were very nice. But tour was too long, wasnt clear in the instructing as how long the tour took place, it ended up 14 hours - from 7:30 AM we got picked up until 22:00 we got dropped off.

Communication with tour agent was challenging and unclear. I asked for specific pick up and confirmation and only got it one day before the tour began. Pick up came late with no notification. Van was full, with no empty seat to stretch at all - was small mini van for 12 people.

Road trip was fine with good break every 2 hours. I like it that we were given time to explore ourselves. Buffet lunch at White Temple could be improved!

Tour guide is ok, but needs to improve her English. More explanation and history is needed for each tour attraction.

The places are very interesting to visit. It’s a good compact tour if you’re interested in taking pictures only of very nice contemporary temples and interesting tribal people, and if you’re short on time, go for it.
      But:
There is not much informative content by the tour guide and the lunch place is very bad quality cold food.

Our tour guide and driver were absolutely great, our guide had a lot of knowledge that she shared with us. We had a great tour, definitely recommend. If I was to say anything negative it would be that the tour advertises 8 hours, this tour is definitely 15 hours. Just bring some snacks for when you are in the bus, especially the 4 hours drive back.

The visit at the temples and Black Museum is great.
The river boat is nothing interesting…

The four of this enjoyed this day trip. We travelled quite a distance but there were many stops and visits to break up the drive. Our tour guide was informative and kept us moving. The 12 people on the van kept to the time restraints so we remained on schedule. Many photo opportunities. Varied experiences that immersed us in the northern Thai culture. Great trip!

      It's a really beautiful experience!!
I learned so much about the history of the region, and the white temple it's simply stunning.
My only criticism is that it feels like is way too much crammed in a day
I would have liked to spend more time in the white temple, and with the long neck tribe. But the whole day felt like a race, never allowed to stay too long anywhere, because of the schedule.

Interesting tour, but the guide was awfull. She rushed us everywhere, she didn’t let us go to the restroom and conditioned us to only go to the restroom once during the ride back. She didn’t explain anything and also we couldn’t understand what she was saying, a better English is required to understand what they are saying. I WOULDN’T recommend at all to have a tour with her. The tour is nice but the guide was HORRIBLE.
