Our day begins at a coffee shop where Kevin shares some foundational teaching to get you ready for the day ahead. Chiang Mai’s biggest and busiest fresh market is where we start our photography. Here you’ll learn more about light and gain understanding as to why it’s the essential ingredient of photography. We’ll teach you how your camera reads and responds to light, and how to make a good exposure. Understanding this will give you greater scope to be creative in your image making.
You will learn composition technique and how to look more carefully. We’ll demonstrate the impact point of view has when framing your subject. You will gain a new appreciation of what you see when you look through your camera.
At the market we also focus on teaching about photographing people. Northern Thai people generally are not shy of being photographed. In every culture being sensitive and polite is very important. We will address this subject as we photograph the locals in their everyday work environments.
The ‘decisive moment’ – capturing the action and story telling with your photos are two other topics we will talk about throughout the day.
