Overview
Explore the countryside of Chiang Mai on a full-day bike tour led by an experienced guide. Ride the train a short distance to Lamphun, former capital of the ancient Mon Kingdom. Disembark in the small city and pedal to the famous temple Wat Phra That Hariphunchai. Continue past villages and rice paddies, stopping at the market for a simple Thai lunch. Visit the wood-carving village of Ban Tawai, a beekeeper near Doi Suthep and the forest temple of Wat Umong as you return by bike to Chiang Mai.
What to Expect
After meeting your guide at the departure point in Chiang Mai, your bike tour starts as you pedal across the city to the train station. Hop on the train for the ride to the historical Lamphun train station, where you'll get back on your bike to ride through the quiet streets of the small city, once the capital of an ancient Mon kingdom.

Pedal past its ancient walls to arrive at Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, a temple known for its imposing chedi (stupa). From here, strike out across the countryside, biking through villages, past a canal, and along tree-lined lanes. Enjoy a simple Thai lunch at a village market (own expense), and then cycle through paddy fields until you come upon the wood-carving village of Ban Tawai. From here, meander along country lanes to the foothills of Doi Suthep to a beekeeping center.

After a few ups and downs on forested lanes, arrive at the forest temple of Wat Umong before returning to the city, where your tour ends.

Grasshopper was accommodating.

After a misunderstanding about whether we would have a van trailing us on our ride, Grasshopper happily accommodated us. Good thing too- two folks in our party got too hot or weren’t fit enough to ride the slight hills in the full sun. Our guide...More

Farm was the best guide my wife and I could have hoped for. He took us to some really incredible places with a lot of variety - a temple, a woodworking town, a great restaurant, a biodynamic health farm, and a meditation center. The scenery...More
