Very commercial and mass oriented event
it took a lot of driving time to come from the hotel to Pattaya due to the heavy trafic in Bangkok. The event at Pattaya was ok but not anything special. There was time for bathing, but the water floated with plastic and other dirt and was not that appealing.

    Organized chaos
Let me start with saying everyone was friendly, the water was decently clear, and there were some fish to see. Beyond that Bangkok traffic is bad, the driver was close to an hour late, and it was a long ride to Pattaya. The boat to the island was fine, was some guys got on boat without tickets. By the time tickets were checked, they were just along for the ride, as they were justly not allowed to participate. This took away from the experience as they were obnoxious about it and tried to essentially get all for free, and there was a lot of arguing.

    Prepare for a long day
From the time we got picked up at our hotel until we got dropped off, we had been gone for 14 hours. Our day would have been shorter, but the tour that we'd paid for was not the tour we got. The tour we paid for (this one) was put together with a company that does the entire tour, including a long neck village and a trip across to Laos which we didn't want. We had the options to join these legs if we wanted to pay more, but we'd have booked them if we wanted to see them. On the plus side our guide Matt was great; very knowledgeable and friendly. Our driver was very good too, weaving through traffic and road construction to get us there a d back safely on a very long day. Overall this was a very interesting tour that could have been shorter. The white temple was very crowded and part of it was closed for work, but there is lots to see. The black house was also very interesting if you don't mind seeing a lot of animal hides. Just plan for a long day with only one meal break so bring extra snacks and lots of water/Gatorade.

    Give it a miss
After buying a ticket you arrive at the boat and are told that unless you spend more money to upgrade your seat you will be in economy class with no window. Treated like cattle. Spent 2 hours getting there for a 20 min snorkel with no fish and dead Corel. Toilets were filthy - light breakfast was a tiny muffin and a instant coffee.

Chiang Mai to Pai day trip
This day trip of 11 hours duration is too long. Basically sitting in a van most of the day driving on very windy roads. Crazy driver speeding most of the time and overtaking on blind corners. Trip geared to Chinese tourists taking kitschy photos at staged stops. You are better off staying overnight in Pai to break the journey.

    Great Experience
Me and my partner had an amazing time on this river cruise. Seeing the iconic Bangkok sites at night by river was a highlight of our holiday. The buffet was great with lots of different cuisines to choose from. The live entertainment was great from start to finish. Have already recommended it to a few travelling friends.
