About
Trekking to Everest Base Camp is one of the most popular activities among people who visit Nepal for a holiday. A breath-taking flight to Lukla airport, stunning Himalayan scenery, the world’s biggest desert-like glaciers, high thrilling trekking passes and warm, hospitable Sherpa culture together with hundreds of years old monasteries are main attractions of Everest Base Camp Trekking. The trek starts after an adventurous and thrilling flight to Lukla. The flight itself gives an impressive impression of great mountain views (and heart-stopping approach and landing !) and the trek will take you through wide areas of stunning landscapes, ethnic settlements, years old Buddhist monasteries at Monjo, Namche, Tengboche and Panboche, and ultimately to the midst of towering peaks. This is moderate to difficult level trekking suitable for people above average fitness level. Anyone who is able to walk about 6 - 7 hours each day is open to join this hike.

They’re the best!
Apr. 2021 • Family
Just returned from a fantastic trek to EBC. Upendra answered my endless questions as COVID issues changed daily. Once we finally arrived, our incredible guide and porter (Surcha and Santosh) helped us to EBC and Kala Patthar. You cannot overestimate how helpful it is to have a guide who knows the mountain, the language, and so many people. We had an incredibly smooth trip and couldn’t have done it without them. We would definitely recommend them to anyone!

EBC during Covid-19
Apr. 2021
I had a great time on the trek with my guide (Lok) and porter (Kumar), they were a tremendous team and the administrative work back in Kathmandu was dealt with to make the journey even smoother.

I suffered from a headache, cough and cold the morning after EBC, the guide, porter and Upendra were phenomenal in helping to get the heli to help me down the mountain. Their kind disposition to the matter and never giving a sour face to the issue or requested I made, truly made the adventure even more enjoyable.

My entire journey from landing in Kathmandu, to flying off was well planned out by the crew and I appreciate their attention to detail. The guide was very communicative in giving me information about the trek, food, etc. The porter was extremely friendly and hospitable, it made all the difference when I was ill or feeling under the weather. His constant presence was beyond his job scope. Upendra helping me before the trek started administratively for Kathmandu and when I finished the trek didn't go unnoticed.

All of my guide, porter and Upendra's help exuberated the Nepalese hospitality and friendliness. This tour company are very accommodating and helpful in gathering documents and are very knowledgeable about their area of trekking. Thank you all for your friendly disposition throughout my time in Nepal, I will be back again.

Prompt and professional

Himalayan Leisure is extremely professional with their operations and make you feel comfortable.
Upendra was patient in answering all our queries while we were still deciding on the dates. His prompt responses were reassuring and we knew we were in good hands. Our guide Purna was a soft spoken and a well respected person. He made sure of our safety and comfort everywhere we went. He was also accommodating with all our requests. We would enjoy freshly cut fruits in the night after dinner. We had an amazing time in Nepal thanks to their company. Would highly recommend Himalayan Leisure for the EBC trek.

Great local trekking company
Feb. 2020 • Couples
We did the Gosaikunda Lake and pass trek with Suman as our guide and Krishna was our porter. The trip was so well organized and efficiently managed, going this time of year is off season so we had limited overnight and meal options (up to the locals, not Himalayan leisure), but we were always taken care of and had everything we needed. The trek was pretty hard, but well worth it. If you have any questions about any trip, Upendra is very helpful and knowledgeable and can help guide on what would suit you based on your preferences.

Reliable Agency- Thank you Upendra and Bibek Rai
Oct. 2019
I did an Everest Base Camp trek in October 2019 with Himalayan Leisure. Upendra, the owner and travel advisor takes personal care of his clients while they are in Kathmandu. The guide Bibek is amazing guy. He took care off me really nice, when I was sick during my return trip. I recommend this agency for anyone who are new to nepal and for those looking for value for their money.

The experience of a lifetime
Nov. 2019
Me and my friends were Planning, Researching and Saving for this trip for almost past 2 years. We did extensive research on the operators in nepal region who can deliver with most efficiency and cost effectiveness. we finally chose to operate with Himalayan leisures, and contacted them regarding the expedition. I was contacted by Upendra very promptly within hours of my first email. Upendra was very sound and clear about the operation, provided us with all the information we needed for the trek and was in constant communication with us clarifying all the issues we had.

Once we arrived in Kathmandu we were picked up by our Guide Raju, who was an amazing person, a good organiser and knows the khumbu region like no other. Special thanks to our porters Om and Manoj for all the support they provided during the trek. Trekking with Raju was an amazing experience overall, with the man handling everything with utmost care and efficiency. Coming back to Upendra and Himalayan leisures, the service they provided us was world class. We were really surprised and impressed of the level of organising.

Finally i highly recommend Himalayan leisure and Raju for your trek. Thanks Again Upendra and Raju. It was one in a lifetime experience for us, thank you for making it special.

Amazing experience!! Thank you Bibek!
Nov. 2019
My partner and I went on this unforgettable trek for 12 days to EBC and had an amazing time. There were issues with the flights on the day we were due to fly to Lukla but the company booked us a helicopter at no extra charge, which meant amazing views and an amazing experience flying over the mountains coming in to Lukla.

The trek starts off going through many small villages along the path, and it’s very interesting seeing people go about their daily lives there, alongside sweeping beautiful views of greenery over the mountains, passing cows and donkeys carrying loads (the only version of Himalayan traffic jams you’ll see!) and lots of bridges to cross over the river. As the altitude goes higher the whole landscape changes to an alpine one with more shrubs and gravel and views of the snowy mountains above, and the climbing becomes colder, windier and more difficult because of the altitude, with some sections of steep climbing. Our guide Bibek was amazing – he not only was cheery and easy to get along with, always motivating us with a “Let’s do!”, but he gave us invaluable advice about what we needed for each day’s trek, what the route would be like, and recommendations on buying things like hiking poles and scarves where we would have struggled without them. Not only that but he has great knowledge of the surrounding mountains and views. He was also very understanding when things were harder for us, and always made sure we were well taken care of! Our safety and comfort were the most important things to him – he always checked in on how we were feeling, took the lead when the trail was tough to show us the safest and easiest route, and kept us safe from the traffic mentioned above.

The lodges do get a little rougher going towards higher altitude – be prepared for it to be cold (up to -20oC), despite the warm sleeping bags and down jackets we rented and the good weather we had on the trip. We would also highly recommend a porter as trekking at altitude was already difficult, we couldn’t have done it without them. At the end of it, we were so proud and happy to have done it, and the whole incredible experience was finished with an awesome night back in Lukla with some beers and traditional rice wine, and busting out some moves with Bibek and the porters, as well as a great Nepalese dinner the last night in Kathmandu to cap it all off.

Thanks so much for an awesome experience!
