Day 14: Climb Island Peak (6,187 m) and Return to Chukhung (4,710 m)

Stop At: Imja Tse, Khumjung 56000, Nepal
We have allowed two days to climb the Island Peak, although we will probably not require more than one if weather conditions are fine. The strategy for the climb will be decided by our climbing Sherpa leader at the time, taking into account the group’s acclimatization, weather, snow conditions and other factors. He will provide you ice climbing training to make you skillful on using climbing gears such as ropes, ice pick, harness, crampons etc. The site of the camp is just below the permanent snowline. In the morning we leave very early for the final climb to the summit. This may take between four to six hours, depending on snow and weather conditions. We will fix a rope on the summit headwall for safety on both ascent and descent. Although it is not a technically difficult climb, the snow slopes are crevassed, the headwall is reasonably steep and a head for heights is useful. To reach the summit, willpower and stamina are required, but the incredible feeling of achievement atop this 6,187 m giant will remain a lifetime memory. The view from the summit is utterly fantastic! Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Makalu and Baruntse are the dominant giants rising above a sea of smaller peaks. Given good conditions, we should be able to descend back to Chukhung from our summit attempt.
Duration: 15 minutes

• Breakfast
• Lunch
• Dinner
Accommodation included: Tented Camp

Day 15: Spare Day for Climb in case of Bad Weather

In such cases, you can continue to trek and utilize this day to rest or to relax yourself anywhere in the trail until you reach Lukla. Since the flights from Lukla to Kathmandu is pre-booked, the immediate changes may not be possible especially during the peak seasons.

Response from acethehimalayas, General Manager at Trek to Everest Base Camp Trek & Climb Island Peak
Responded 9 Sep. 2019
Dear Traveler/Reader, Please ignore this review, which is fake and written by the person who has never traveled with us. We suspect it must be done by some of our competitors. We have checked our database for the trip “Trek to Everest Base Camp Trek & Climb Island Peak” from January 2019 to so far and there is no record of his trip. All the clients who booked this trip have given only positive feedback (We have feedback forms with us). It is unfair to us that anyone can spread false information about our services. This doesn’t mean that we devalue customer reviews. We actually expect our clients to provide feedback (which we request in our post-trip meeting) and learn from them to take our services to next level. But this review is no way helpful and only provides wrong information. We have reported this to TripAdvisor and they say that the review follows their content guidelines and because of which they can’t remove it. We understand their decision. Looks like anyone can post anything if review meets the content guidelines of Trip Advisor. We are currently consulting and taking advice from the lawyers in Nepal and USA about the situation. We request the travelers who are reading this review to please not to judge us based on this fake review. Please read and consult over 1150 genuine reviews we have. And, to Jasonjack11 (the screen name in this review), if you are reading this, please provide us proof such photos, name of guide and porter, trip dates, etc. to prove that you travelled with ACE. Please e-mail us directly because I am sure you must have our e-mail address if you have travelled with us. Thank you so much for your kind cooperation. Ace the Himalaya Team
