- Robin B0 contributionsOkay. It rained the morning of my hike. I was first told no hike and when I asked about a refund I was given an alternative hike that was quite enjoyable. My tour guide, driver and park ranger spoke amongst each other 95% of the time. Since I was the only guest it would have been nice to be included in conversations since they all spoke english.Written 24 November 2022
- Anne D0 contributionsShai Hills is nature at its finestMe and three friends went with Vanessa to the Shai Hills and it was so lovely. We learned about the animals native to that part of Ghana and about the history of the Shai people. The nature is absolutely stunning and it is totally worth a trip there.Written 22 October 2022

- Marcofaccini19930 contributionsLovely day in Shai HillsOur day at Shai Hills was awesome and Fredrick has been very friendly. He picked us up at the airport with a very comfortable car and we went straight to Shai Hills. On e there, We also had a personal guide that explained us lot of amazing things about the animals and nature around. The experience was lovely, a good opportunity to do something different and escape from the city for one day :-) Strongly raccòmended experience 🙂Written 28 August 2022
- felicia g0 contributionsAmazingFredrick was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the Botanical garden and it’s origin. He also provided good information on Accra and the surrounding area. Fredrick was not only knowledgeable but very friendly and easy to talk to.Written 23 December 2021
- Marcus L0 contributionsFun tourGreat tour. The tour guide was prompt and helpful the entire way. Eric gave good updates on when we came across something new or interesting. My one-- and significant-- complaint is the seat belt on the right side of the car was in bad condition and the buckle was missing. I switched sides for the functioning belt and buckle. The driver was great at navigating the area and the terrain. We had a great time exploring the hills and the caves. I appreciated the variety of animals we could see.Written 4 July 2021
- elsm20150 contributionsVery reliable transport serviceI used AKuapem Hills service to transport me from and back Accra and 2 hotels. Their service was excellent: reasonable priced, very professional and on time. I can really recommend them for any transport need.Written 1 March 2020
- Travel1243660 contributionsNature at Shai Hills and Botanical GardensI truly enjoyed the trip, the guides were very accommodating with any requests. I was picked up at the hotel and they came at the time that I requested which was different than the scheduled tour time. I also was dropped at airport after my touring at no extra costs. I should have worn sneakers instead of sandals but still was able to enjoy the short hike in the parks. Don't expect to see many animals as this animal refuge is new and they have just started to get more animals. The park its self is worth the trip even without any animals. The monkeys were down from the trees on my trip so that was a plus. The guides also asked me if I would like to see Botanical Gardens which wasn't on this trip but since I had extra time, they were able to take me there also. All in all it was a wonderful experience.Written 25 February 2020

This tour has two parts, actually three if you count the pleasant drive up the mountains to Aburi gardens. Wait, make that four because we stopped at a little craft place where I got a carving that was the perfect present.! loved learning new things at the farm and gardens. My guides were polite, full of knowledge and very helpful. I was especially impressed by how much they helped me get around as I have disabilities of movement. I would strongly recommend this relaxing tour.

Frederick was a great tour guide. He was able to point out the small details on the tour, as well as being available to answer any questions I had.
We covered the cocoa garden, Aburi gardens as well as some craft stores.
Would highly recommend this tour to any solo traveler

Eric was a great guide today and really made sure I enjoyed the trip to the cacao plantation and to Aburi gardens. He also stopped at a place to have palm wine as I wanted to. It was delicious. In addition he took me to a crafts village to pick a dress for an engagement party. Although I didn't end up buying anything I appreciated the thought. Good conversation along the way. Highly recommend this tour.

For my relatively short stay in Accra, Ghana, and this being my first time in Africa, I was looking for the main things to check out in the area. I was told that I had to check out Aburi Gardens, so I searched for tours that included the Gardens. I am extremely glad I came across this one! Frederick was a great, knowledgeable tour guide. He was accommodating and provided a very personal experience what would normally could feel repetitive and robotic. The tour guide for Aburi was not there so he actually did it himself, which was amazing. Knew practically every plant there! He was fun to talk to during the in-betweens of the tour. He's very aware of tourists wanting to take photos so he was both patient and helpful with taking photos himself. Thank you so much for a great tour.

Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed. The company tour guide/driver arrived over an hour late for pick up after I contacted the company multiple times. Unlike the other reviews, my tour guide was not very engaging. (Though the people at cocoa farm and Botanical Gardens were wonderful). In my opinion, the experience is not worth the price of booking.

I very much enjoyed this tour to the botanical gardens. Learning about plants I didn’t even know existed. Amazing to see where the simple things we have come from. The cocoa farm was beyond my imagination. I even got the possibility to taste the real cocoa beans!
Frederick, my guide and his collaborators were very professional and dedicated. Even though I was the only person participating the came to pick me up at my hotel and I got to see everything I wanted. I 100% recommended this tour. If you are in the Accra are it is absolutely an experience to live.

Our trip was absolutely amazing. Our tour guides were knowledgeable, professional, and kind. Loved it. By far the best tour thus far. We enjoyed learning the history of the cocoa farm. The information about the plant life at the botanical gardens. We even stopped to try some local food on the way back which was a wonderful experience. We wanted to see the university on the way home and our tour guides made it happen with no hesitation. Thank you to Rex and our driver y’all were absolutely amazing.

The air was so cold and refreshing, what a lovely sight to behold, from the ride up the mountain. We took so many pictures of each and every plant and.trees which most where over a 100 years old and all had a unique story, from who bought it in and had planted them. There was this particular tree you could stand in and see right through it, into the sky. Some other had a great covering from the rain and where naughty kids could hide lol.
The 1st cocoa farm in Ghana too was a wonderful experience, learning how cocoa is planted, cocoa powder is processed to finally having a taste of the fresh cocoa fruit and the dry one, so yummy, it is believed to be good in reducing high sugar level.

It was a fantastic tour. We got all of these really interesting information about cocoa and about all the trees in the park. Frederick was just lovely, helpful, and knowledgable. It is perfect for a short and relaxing day trip out of Accra. Highly recommend!

I would like to take this tour tomorrow (Sunday). Are you able to collect me from the University of Ghana, East Legon? And is there time in the tour to walk in the gardens? Thank you
Written 16 November 2019
They can pick you up from your preferred location and indeed, there is sufficient time to walk in the gardens
