About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Sharon B0 contributionsBole Airport :The absolute worst...So dreadful, will not fly Ethiopian Air again... ever. The airport is basic and has not responded to the increase in travellers at all, due to the Etihad investment. This is regrettable but not unforgivable. What makes this a stand-out dreadful experience is the complete lack of training of the staff working at the airport and their quite inexcusable and dreadful attitude. How rude, aggressive and overcome by the little power you wield does a customs official have to be? Here, the sky is the limit. Visitors should be welcomed into your country if you ever want to compete on a global scale. Yes, you are a major hub now, for people eager to buy cheaper tickets, but with your incredibly rude attitude towards travellers, I would rather visit Hades than spend a day in Ethiopia.Written 8 October 2023
- S5307GCmaryg0 contributionsGreat Ethiopia tourJust returned from 11 day Ethiopia tour with Alenehe as our guide. It was an interesting and enlightening tour covering major sites including the spectacular Lalibela-alone worth a visit to Ethiopia. Challenging driving on less than great roads but incredible mountain scenery and opportunity to see smaller cities and villages experiencing local life along the way. Comfortable hotels, great local foods. Alenehe was a great guide, accommodating and enjoyable/fun company. Recommend this Ethiopian company using local guides in all locations and benefitting local businesses!Written 23 March 2020

- Arthur S0 contributionsExcellent Driver GuideIt took us just a few hours to confirm our booking from the beginning. Our driver guide, Solomon, was funny and helped us enjoy our day trip to the monastery when we were in Ethiopia for just 16 hours. If we plan to come back to Ethiopia, FKLM is on our mind.Written 14 August 2019
- Studnyk0 contributionsOutstanding scenery, excellent guidesExploring Wenchai crater is a unique and remarkable experience that allows tourists to explore a burgeoning destination in rural Ethiopia. While only a few hours away from Addis it feels worlds away. As you travel down the crater the community is excited to engage you, and being that wenchai is just developing a reputation for tourism the experience is rugged and not crowded. The route down is an even road, but it’s about a 4 kilometer hike on a steady incline. If you require it you can coordinate a horse to take you back up the road for a fee. Our driver was hilarious and very personable and our guide up and down the crater was extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the region and we had a fabulous experience at the crater.Written 9 August 2019
- travelmaniam0 contributionsExcellent Customer ServiceI traveled to mo valley in April with my two sisters. FKLM Tours has been impressing during our correspondence. Very professional team. I felt safe driving with Semagn(captain). everything went so smoothly. I thank the management for the farewell dinner. I would recommend FKLM if your travels bring you to Ethiopia.Written 7 August 2019
- WonderWheeler0 contributionsToo disappointingProblems with the bus. Problems with the quality of hotels. No one advised before and after Lalibela we would be in the same hotel in Addis, so we couldn't travel with the cabin suitcase only. Reservations in the hotel in Addis Ababa that couldn't be found so we had to wait all the group line to solve the problem w front desk. Bus in Addis for one group but not the other. No one in the organisation said any proper schedule so another traveller texted me saying I was almost missing the bus! Many more details should have been improved, but are understandable. What is unbelieveable is asking for the telf number of a customer and ending up 3 months later asking for personal favours and money. It is the most unprofessional behaviour I've ever experienced with a travel agent.Written 28 July 2019
- Scra B0 contributionsGreat Driving Tour on Short Notice!FKLM were able to arrange a wonderful driving tour of Northern Ethiopia for me including the Blue Nile, Gondar, and Lalibela with almost no notice. The sights were all great, and experiencing the changing, mountainous landscape of Ethiopia by car is not to be missed. As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe spending the week escorted from place to place by my excellent driver. It was a relief to be in such a foreign place and still feel that everything was under control, plus my driver was able to add two elements that were not on my original itinerary (making it to the National Museum of Ethiopia to see Lucy and making it to a post office to send post cards), for which I am eternally grateful. Great customer service would be an understatement. If you're teetering on the edge of a decision, just book it. Ethiopia is a world apart from any other, it will be an amazing experience, and with FKLM you'll be in good hands. I'm looking forward to booking my next trip with them!Written 13 July 2018

- rayros790 contributionsDay trip with sightseeing in AddisWe had a great day trip with FKML. We booked at 9 in the morning and the car was in place and picked us up at the hotel after one hour. Comfy car and nice driver, in addition to the guide. The trip seemed well organized and the guide was very nice and sympathetic. The guide knew a lot of the places he took us, And had a Nice approach with telling stories and letting us walk around for our selves. We saw many fine places and buildings, including the Trinity Church, the Haile Salassie Museum, the Ethiopian National Museum, the Entoto Mountain with a Nice view over the city, Markado Market, etc. We also ate lunch together in a traditional Ethiopian place. Felt safe and taken care of all the time. The trip lasted approx 5,5 timer. Our guide Alex and the Captain are highly recommended!Written 29 March 2018
- John H0 contributionsLalibela TourAfter finishing up a 15 day mission trip in Ethiopia we scheduled 4 days of tours through Shega at FKLM. It was done on a short notice and they did a fantastic job of putting together a tour that fit in our schedule. We did 1 day in Axum, 2 days in Labibela and a half day in Addis. Shega Aweke met with us at the hotel the day before and went over the schedule and even loaned us his personal cell phone. We were picked up at the airport at each location by the persons listed on the itinerary. All the guides and drivers were very professional and provided us with a great experience. The hotels were both small, nice and breakfast was included with a very accommodating staff. In the 20 days I spent in Ethiopia I discovered that Ethiopians are very warm and accommodating people, they love tourists. If you're in Ethiopia and have a couple days, this is the one tour you don't want to miss.Written 24 December 2017
- Ethan L0 contributionsThumbs up!My 5 days trip to Bahir Dar, Gondar, Axum and Lalibela was hosted by FKLM, and that was wonderful! Even though I hadn't an escort guide from Addis Ababa, their local guides at each destination served me well. The guys who contacting me through email were swift and professional. I confidently and easily suggest you to try FKLM for your plan to visit Ethiopia.Written 15 August 2017
- FlyDna0 contributionsExcellent service! We booked a short trip to Ethiopia with FKLM. It was a last minute's decision, we only had one week to spend, and the aim was to visit Harar to feed hyenas (if you have watched Planet Earth 2 you'll understand!) We had self-driven in 5 countries in Africa so we were quite apprehensive about giving up our independence, when we realised that foreigners are not allowed to drive in Ethiopia. However, having not had a local driver, we would probably still be waiting in a queue or even worse... the Ethiopian interpretation of the Highway code is let's just say... unique! Our driver proved to be a star, friendly, professional and flexible, the vehicle was great, and the road trip turned out to be a great success! The second star of the show was our guide in Harar. A local guide, Biniyam Mengistu (feresmegala@gmail.com) very knowledgeable, whose enthusiasm and passion for the city was contagious! Very flexible and problem solver, he unravelled the mysteries of this old city and made our visit to Harar an unforgettable experience. We were very pleased with all FKLM recommendations and bookings: the places they booked for us to stay, especially the guest house in Harar's old city, which felt like time travel! The dinner in Addis, which we had the chance to see local dances was a very pleasant way to end the trip, and get another insight to this multicultural country.Written 6 February 2017
- Tofdono0 contributionsThe Gem of AfricaTogether with FKLM I have explored some parts of Ethiopia - the Northern Circuit, the Afar region, Harare, Bale and parts of the upper Rift Valley. These have been awesome Ethiopian adventures - exposing me to its rich religious and cultural heritage, beautiful landscapes and amazing people. FKLM have gone beyond normal limits - using exclusive plus local guides they have allowed me to experience the very heart of this Gem of Africa. As Dervla Murphy wrote 50 years ago ' it's the growth of affection for another race that is the real achievement and richest reward of such a journey'. We enjoyed spending the day in Addis Ababa with our guide Tesfaw! The city is amazing and the guide had such a warm personality. Thankfully, the tour was flexible so we were able to stay at certain locations longer if we wanted to, which we appreciated. Tesfaw went out of his way to teach us important aspects of Ethiopian culture and his English is perfect! It felt like walking around with a family member.
Our stay in Addis was actually 11 days total and we booked with 4 different tour companies but I highly recommend taking this tour and asking for Tesfaw. He seems to know more information than the others. Even though we didn’t have enough time to travel to Lalibela, we’re convinced to come back. We will be returning next year (or the year after) to take the Northern Ethiopia tour with this company and hope it'll be with our same guide.
