About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Maryland1traveler0 contributionsNice day trip from Dar es SalamWe enjoyed the Bagamoyo Historical Tour we did with Dove Adventure Travel. They were extremely easy to coordinate with to arrange the tour. They were also able to provide airport transfer to and from our hotel in Dar es Salam which was helpful. Our driver Chris was punctual every time and had a nice new propane fired Landcruiser to drive us around in. The Bagamoyo Historical Tour was excellent - we left about 9 am and were back to our hotel before 6 pm, with the whole day dedicated to seeing all the historical sites of interest around Bagamoyo with our lively guide Prince. There is a great deal to see in this small town, and it really gives you a good sense of all the history of the place. We also enjoyed lunch (not included in the price) in a local restaurant in the historical part of town. I was really impressed with the Dove Adventure Team.Written 24 July 2024
- klausfh0 contributionsExciting guided tour to prison island and Stone Town on Zanzibar.Today I participated in a wonderfull guided tour from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar, where I made an excursion by boat to the prison island and afterwards I made a city tour through Stone Town. 1000 thanks to Annastacia Gati Muniko and to the whole Dove Adventure team for the really perfect tour organisation and to my fantastic Stone Town guide Martin Mgodas for the outstanding company and for the really high quality information about the exciting history and the very rich cultural background of this beautiful place. I can warmly recommend Dove Adventure, Annastacia and Martin for all who are interested in discovering Zanzibar and Stone Town.Written 3 February 2023
- Mushu_Janny0 contributionsFantastic wildlife - a must do if limited on time & budgetDecided to go with Dove because cabin crew on Emirates Airlines recommended them. Contacted them via the web site then WhatsApp to finalise details. No question was too hard. Driver & Guide - Michael - picked us up at 0545 am in a Toyota Safari truck - it had a fridge between back seats for drinks / snacks The trip was long - dusty at times - 7 hours - yet fascinating passing each town/ village, Masai tending their cattle and goats - women getting water from the village water wells - shops - kids - a Kaleidoscope of Tanzania. The Safari began as we “entered” by a sign heralding the Mikumi park From there to the actual Park entrance some twenty minutes later we saw giraffes, elephants, zebras. Upon arrival after 7 hours driving -Michael was very safe - never took any chances or reckless overtaking - we stopped at garage with fresh baked goods - coffee and immaculately clean bathrooms. On the way back we stopped at amazing arts shop - again with immaculately clean toilets with the women proudly cleaning them. I always tipped the staff cleaning them. We entered the park through a gate (after Michael submitted paper work) and went to an accommodation/ cafe area and ate a hot lunch- choices of meat chicken etc Then we headed into the safari- safaris are a gentle meandering with the guide seeking to show us birds - big game wildlife and answering all the questions. The vehicle was not open style seating but large windows and the top popped up so you could stand and view the wildlife with no-one in front. As it was only us in the vehicle there was a great atmosphere. We saw elephants - families with several babies, lions, giraffes, zebras - many beautiful birds. Michael was very knowledgeable. At sunset we headed to the accomodation about 15 minutes from the park. The road in - Bastion road was a little disconcerting- but arrived at Camp Bastion - checked in. Dinner was from 7 pm Wifi only in the restaurant and they remove the modem at night so limited very slow wifi. Restaurant is gorgeous at night- candles on every table - fairy lights- and the buffet is vegetarian and one meat dish. A small bar caters to basic red/white wines- spirits- soda etc. There are ‘concrete” seating areas - but the one by the bar has charcoal fire lite every night. The pool is lovely but not enough seating - especially if one party joins seats/ lounges into one set. Our cottage was obe big room with two double beds and one sofa bed. Bathroom with toilet/ shower. Small fridge in the room. No cups or water provided - we bought supplies as we anticipated that. One small lamp. Curtains did not cover windows so felt not so private. Windows has mesh for airflow and one ceiling fan. Its basic / functional and the grass tall ceilings gave it some atmosphere. Security staff scattered around the compound - staff spray the room for mosquitoes when you are at dinner. Mosquitoes are very bad at dawn and dusk- we used mosquitoes coils and they were still really bad. The power remained on overnight amidst intermittent power cuts. Up early - Breakfast opens at 0600am- Fruit - tea/ coffee/ juice / toast- Pancakes & eggs Small crafts shop and tips box. Picked up a packed lunch and headed off. Lunch was cheese/ tomato sandwich- bananas- fried vege pasty thing - fried chicken and water. Stunning day on safari Again elephants - lions - zebra- giraffes - warthog’s - python- hippos - impala …. Just beautiful and amazing. And even saw the solitary shy Elan. Mikumi National Game Park has designated roads that must be adhered to. So its very different to our experiences at Selous at Beho Beho (a lifetime “must do” luxury exclusive safari). So in Mikumi wildlife had to always be viewed from the road or designated watering holes. The waterholes ensured animals could be seen up close and some amazing wildlife. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience- Michael was both excellent guide and driver. The trip back to Dar es Salaam was 8 hours. Highly recommend DOVE - nothing was too much trouble.Written 14 September 2022
- pannfam0 contributionsGreat historical site visit with Dove AdventuresWe had a phenomenal day at Bagamoyo thanks to Sadiq who gave us an in-depth explanation of the history of the place. Sadly most of it was dark history. Bagamoyo with Sadiq Should be on every visitors trip to Dar. Thank you Dove Adventures for the day tour, the whole experience was significantly beyond my expectations.Written 7 July 2022
- maktoprakk0 contributionsA comfortable experienceMy sister and I did Dar es Salaam daily tour with Dove. - AliNanguce0 contributionsMexican ExperienceI’m Mexican and I Have problems with my fly tickets, so I left later than expected and canceled a reservation, but Annie was always in contact with me at all times on whatsapp, she went to the airport for me and I physically bought the tour while in Dar es Salaam, I came to my hotel. The next day they came for me, punctual in the morning, there was a problem with the payment by the banks in Mexico that needed authorization, such as There is no cell phone reception, it could not be specified, but they have internet available and they help you at all times until the I pay and they also helped me to book a room in the park which was wonderful They took me to the incredible tour Michael my super friendly guide; never left me alone and took care of me at all times, later the next day they took me to the airport I loved the service, although it would be incredible if they accepted American Express to be able buy more experiencesWritten 19 November 2021
- lifesince19830 contributionsGreat few days in Gombe National ParkI had a great few days in Gombe National Park (Kigoma region), where I was lucky enough to see chimpanzees and various species of monkey. Dove were able to put together a full trip (travel, accommodation, guide, permits, etc) at relatively short notice and everything went according to plan. I will definitely consider Dove for any future travel needs within Tanzania and they have been a great partner over the last year!Written 17 August 2021
- kiugpviuz0 contributionsAmazing People, Good FriendsTo anyone, especially coming from Europe or US, Africa can be quite overwhelming. There you’ll need not only a guide and advisor, you’ll need a friend. There are many tour operators one can choose, but if you need someone you can trust, Shaban and Lewa are the guys who will go the extra mile. There are no words, that can describe how serous, flexible and reliable the guys from Dove Adventure were and what a good value for money their services are. One can see, that the commercialized western capitalistic society have not yet corrupted their souls. Smiles and friendly faces were accompanied by the famous “Hakuna Matata” as the answer to any request. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting this interesting place to use the Dove Adventure services for whatever they have in mind.Written 15 March 2021
- Y3069YSjona0 contributionsGreat day out of DarIt was a great tour, so informative and even a bit off the beaten track. As we learned from our guide, though overshadowed by Stonetown in Zanzibar, Bagamoyo every bit as integral to the history of the country from 12th century to slave trade to colonialism - even the first world war -- and of course decolonisation. Bagamoyo has all the features found in Zanzibar except the tourists so if you want to see a relatively untrammeled but tourist friendly site, this is the one. Plus on the way you will enjoy local food, insights into cultural and hospitality courtesy of an excellent and personable guide.I highly recommend this tour!Written 12 January 2020
- Calliewill770 contributionsA great Safari experience beyond our expectationsWe made our 9 days safari arrangement to Mikumi, Ruaha and Selous with Dove adventure, all inclusive and we booked our 4 days in Zanzibar our-self stayed all time in stone town Tembo hotel, the Hotel was very nice facing the Indian ocean and with Swimming Pool, we had our lunch out of the hotel when we go for tour and even dinner two times. Jumbe from Dove Adventure suggested an amazing knowledgeable and friendly guide to contact for our short tours in Zanzibar, the guide was truly good and affordable and the same as the Safari guide (Michael), his wildlife knowledge is unbelievable, driving skills are perfects, searching and spotting animals during game drives left us wonder how he managed to see animals with bare eyes from a long distance that we had to use a binocular to identify the animal. Our favorite animals on this safari were Lion, Elephant and Leopard and we saw all of them and managed to be very close to Lion and Elephant in All Parks. We went walking with the ranger in Ruaha and did boat safari in Rufiji River in Selous, we also did a Dar es Salaam city tour before taking the evening boat to Zanzibar and the national museum turned to be our best place to get most information about Tanzania. All our Safari arrangements were perfectly managed by Jumbe from Dove Adventure.Written 14 December 2019
- Matteoleon0 contributionsThe Touching History of Bagamoyo TownThe history of Bagamoyo is very educative and heart touching, it was after our meeting that we had a day to visit this somehow forgotten historical town in Tanzania, I say forgotten because our guide Sadick said it was the first harbor to be built and then late shifted to Dar es Salaam which has prosper economically leaving Bagamoyo in almost the same old infrastructure style. Dove Adventure was recommended from the hotel we stayed, Holiday inn Hotel and appeared to be very honest, reliable, very good air conditioned cars for tours, fast responding with very knowledgeable guides both for Bagamoyo and Dar es Salaam City, best price and I recommend it to other travellers.Written 14 October 2019
- NoahJon0 contributionsRewarding visit of Bagamoyo by Dove AdventureDuring our work meeting in Dar es Salaam we had an opportunity to visit Bagamoyo, an interesting town very rich in history and culture, Sadick was our awesome guide and he carry Bagamoyo history in his heart and brain this is not an activity to miss if you are in Dar es Salaam and looking how to spend a worthwhile day, Jumbe from Dove Adventure was able to arrange our trip in a very short notice with very reasonable cost and we were all satisfied for his fast professional services.Written 11 October 2019
- bres-por0 contributionsAdvise of a Safari expert from Dove AdventureI highly recommend this company for everybody who have short time in Dar es Salaam and want to see wildlife. At the end of our meeting in Dar es Salaam wanted to do a one day safari to Mikumi Park, the hotel manager called Jumbe to answer our questions and plan our safari. During our discussion Jumbe said that a day trip to Mikumi will only be worthy if we don’t have much time, he highly suggested us to take a two days one night safari to get more time in the Park and we accepted at the end after weighing the advantage and disadvantage according to what he suggested. The highway to Mikumi Park was busy with trucks and busses and the drive took about six hour and half with one stop for stretching, we arrived midday and after lunch we realized that it was so nice and very helpful that we took the advice of staying one night so we didn’t have to worry about driving back six hour again in the next few hours of the same day. We were all relaxed and happy to enjoy the environment and animals. The park was nice and our driver Michael was so knowledgeable about wildlife, he took us to areas with lots of animals and we counted our self-lucky to have him as our guide. Jumbe and Michael are truly safari professionals and I recommend them for anyone who is planning to go on Safari in Tanzania.Written 10 October 2019
- Jessica V0 contributionsFantastic Guide and Safari arrangementOur 13 days safari to Mikumi National Park, Ruaha, Selous and Zanzibar were very well planned and managed by Dove Adventure. We had a great time on safari and the lodges in Mikumi Ruaha and Selous were all amazing with nice foods and friendly staff, our guide shared a lot of animal information with us and knew where to find them even in hiding spots. We used to see African animals on screen and believed some of them were computer made for movies entertainment but our Tanzania safari gave us many unforgettable real life moments and memories. After safari we went to Zanzibar for 4days and stayed at Mnarani Beach Cottages.Written 5 October 2019

Booked at the last minute during my 7 days in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Glad I selected Dove Adventure Tanzania for the City Tour. I truly had a great experience. The tour consisted of me and the guide, Mr. Lasway. Mr. Lasway was knowledgeable about the history of the areas visited, and made the experience to the Village Museum memorable and exciting. Throughout the tour he was very courteous and insightful. If I ever come back to Tanzania, I’d book again with Dove Adventure Tanzania!

This tour was absolutely amazing! Annie and Chris are the best guides of Dar. They are extremely kind and caring, and this tour literally shows you every cultural aspect there is to see in Dar. All the museums you visit are amazing, you learn a lot, and duration is just right because you have enough time for everything. Annie took me to a very nice restaurant where I had one of the best fish I've ever eaten, and also she helped me find some souvenirs I wanted (with the best prices in Dar!!!) This tour is the best thing you can do if you want to learn about Tanzanian history and discover Dar in a day!

The City Sights tour offered by Dove Adventure and my guide, Godfrey, was absolutely the best ever. I was surprised to have Godfrey all to myself. The tour was personalised for me. What I wanted to see more of and less of other things without compromising the history or attractions of Dar es Salaam. Godfrey's knowledge and English were superb, so much background information too. He makes Dar es Salaam shine. There's so much to see and do here and he covered the lot. I even got to enjoy a traditional Tanzanian meal with him (not at a tourist restaurant). Exposing and experiencing little things like this makes all the difference for me as a travel writer. The best part - the tour didn't cost an arm and leg and was worth every cent. Thank you Godfrey and Dove Adventures. Nannette from Australia

I contacted Dove Adventure with very short notice on the day that I had a 10 hour layover in Dar es Salaam and my original city tour operator cancelled the morning of. They were extremely accommodating and were able to set me up on a city tour that same day. I was transiting from Zanzibar back home and had a 10 hour layover in Dar that I wanted to take advantage of and explore the city. They picked me up in an air conditioned van from the airport, and took me around the city to explore until it was time for my flight home. They greeted me with water and a soda and a great list of things to do to take in the local culture in what little time I had. We went to the fish market as well as the national and village museums and then to a local market and dinner. Anna was great and knowledgeable, and made sure that I was always having a good time and answered any questions I had. Very professional, I highly recommend!

A must for first time visitors. My tour guide Godfrey was awesome as he was passionate sharing the history of many historical landmarks throughout the city. My personal favorites were the museums, the Slipway Shopping Center, and the plethora of knowledge shared by Godfrey.

Dove went above and beyond to make my time in Dar as seamless as possible. From arranging the airport transfers, to bank visits, to my mandatory covid test (oh the times we live in). They even went and waited 4 hours for the results so I wouldn't have to. He was extremely responsive and communicative and would arrange any service I needed. My driver was friendly, professional and very helpful. I would highly recommend this company.

Very nice and interesting city tour. Highly recommended for all other Dar es Salaam visitors who, like me, arrive for the first time in their live in this beautiful city and have only 1 day free time for getting familiarized with this it. Our tour guide Ana attended us extremely friendly and gave us plenty of valuable inputs and information upon all kinds of subjects like history, culture, geography and many others more. It was a very pleasant and entertaining activity which enriched a lot my knowledge about Dar es Salaam and Tanzania in general.

Interesting tour of Dar Es Salaam. Some parts of the tour (fish market, village museum) are more interesting than others (archives and pictures of first president in a modern hotel). Overall for a city the size of Dar es Salaam there is not much to see, and it’d be nice to choose what you really want to see and what you want to skip. But going through this tour operator (Dove) is probably still the best option. Driving a car in Dar would be crazy, and getting Uber or taxi to go from one place to another would be a logistical nightmare and probably more expensive at the end.

The tour was good. Booking with Annie was the best thing. She addressed all my queries promptly. She even gave assistance to repack and re-weigh my luggage as I had to adjust it to fly in the domestic airlines. Even after the trip, she even enquired about my Kilimanjaro trip which shows the caring attitude to their customers.
My guide was Godfrey and he shared his knowledge of Tanzanian History and culture with me. That was good. Though I had limited time, I got to know an idea about the city.
Since there was limited time, I could have spent less time for lunch - as there was a lot of waiting period. May be , this was something the guide could have suggested.

Shurkuru, and Annastancia went above and beyond to make my excursion pleasant and fulfilling. They were well informed, and educated on Tanzanian's history... They spoke to vendors on my behalf when necessary, and attempted to teach me Swahili. I took up more of their time than was alloted, and they were so graceful as to not complain...I will recommend them to all my friends in the USA. Thank you both.
