- V113QEcarolineb0 contributionsBeautiful Riad Dar ZamanRiad Dar Zaman is a beautiful, quiet house in the medina. We stayed there for a week and were looked after with great kindness and hospitality by all the staff. The rooms are cosy and spotlessly clean. We had a fantastic tour of the local market and cookery class. This was one of the best holidays we have ever had and would recommend it to anyone wanting a special holiday.Written 3 December 2024
- katesamemp0 contributionsBest travel experience - cooking classes in MarrakechToday was our cookery class @Raid Dar Zaman, one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. We were hosted by Peter and Hassan who were enlightening and entertaining in equal measure but the stand out were Karima’s cookery skills! Love love love!Written 19 November 2024
- sandraj7630 contributionsFabulous cooking experienceWe went for the cookery experience it was amazing Peter Karima Hassane went above and beyond the food was so tasty well worth doing a experience we will never forget , Peter took us to local market to collect ingredients for the cooking and showed us where local bread is baked everyday a real eye openerWritten 15 November 2024
- Y7476VFkevine0 contributionsUnbelievable HospitalityPeter, the owner is the most friendly guy you will ever meet. He met us from the taxi and showed us to the Riad and took his time to tell us things and any questions we asked. Our room, which was small was lovely, more than enough for us. The windows looked down to the centre of the Riad which was so pretty. Our door led straight out on the terrace with lots of plants, comfy seating and a couple of sun loungers with hats you could use and tables where you sat and ate breakfast. The breakfast was so tasty and fresh. We had a meal here on our first night which was delicious cooked by the lovely Karima. The area is only 5 mins to the Souks and about a 15 min walk to the main square. Which is a must of an evening. The staff were and are exceptional nothing is too much trouble for them. So kind and friendly. Hassanne is fantastic and as for Adil and Hamza, they went above and beyond. We had lots of lovely chats and laughs. Thanks again everyone and missing all your smiley faces. Thank you all xxWritten 27 October 2024
- mvX7469YH0 contributionsGreatThe most amazing riad. Great workers, the most wonderful breakfast and cooking class. Dinner cooked by Karima was more than delightful!! Great location, quite and peaceful, you could hear the bird singing Peter and all the staff were amazing, helpful and kind, Like all moroccans. Felt like beeing at home with your family. Hope I can come back!!!!Written 16 October 2024
- jennifertZ6070DW0 contributionsLoved it - would definitely come backWe really enjoyed our stay at the Dar Zaman. The owner and staff made us feel very welcome. The property is in a great location, close to the Medina but in a quiet and private area. Our room was comfortable and nicely decorated. The food was delicious especially breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.Written 15 October 2024
- mattkM3622QM0 contributionsIncredible Stay!!My husband and I stayed at Riad Dar Zaman for 3 nights in September. We additionally added a welcome dinner and the cooking classes to our stay. Overall, our stay was incredible!! The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly, the private room and public spaces were beautiful and quiet. Lots of great areas to unwind after the day, and the plunge pool was great after a day of sight seeing! The food served for both breakfast and lunch were delicious! The cooking class was a lot of fun! You get a lot of food for lunch, and learn a lot both on the tour and during the cooking class as well. It was a bit longer than originally quoted (we finished closer to 4.5 hrs), but was definitely worth the price! I would recommend Riad Dar Zaman for everyone, and I would definitely stay here every trip to Marrakech!Written 14 October 2024
- 123GeorgiaB0 contributionsAmazing 3 night stay at this beautiful Riad!We stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely recommend choosing this riad for your stay! The staff - Upon arrival, Hassan met us from our airport transfer to walk us to the Riad and gave us Moroccan tea and water whilst he talked us through everything we needed to know including recommendations on what to do and where to eat etc. Hassan even gave us an annotated map of the area, and shared his pins on the app Maps.Me which was so helpful in navigating through the narrow streets. He really helped us feel reassured that if we had any questions/issues he would be sure to help. Adil made us feel very welcome and always greeted us with a smile when we saw him. When leaving for the airport, he walked us to the taxi area and negotiated the price which was really helpful. Overall, all of the staff are an absolute credit to this Riad and were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The room - We stayed in the Baignore room which was nicely decorated and despite being the smallest room (I believe) has plenty space. The bathroom is a bit tight but the bath is quite large with an overhead shower. The air con also worked great and our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels left when needed. The riad - The riad is decorated beautifully with lush greenery throughout. Despite being small, there is ample space to relax such as by the plunge pool and on the terrace. As there are only a few rooms, it almost feels like you have the riad to yourselves and we weren’t disturbed by other travellers coming in/out when sleeping. Breakfast is good although a wider selection would be nicer such as pastries or pancakes. The tea, yogurt and fresh juice was a real highlight! The location of the riad is great as the surrounding streets are quiet and we felt safe as a young couple walking back in the evening as late as 11PM/12AM. There are a few shops where you can buy snacks/drinks less than a 5 minute walk away. A tip for future guests would be to follow Hassan’s advice and take the street that leads to the Dar Sidi Ben Slimane restaurant (2 lefts from the bridge outside). Here you can easily walk to the main square or catch a taxi from outside the restaurant. We also used the restaurant as our ‘landmark’ when telling taxis where to take us to ensure we were dropped off at the same spot. Overall, a big thank you to Riad Dar Zaman for such a lovely stay and for helping us have an amazing first time in Marrakech ❤️Written 25 September 2024
- Luke C0 contributions10/10 - must do when visiting MarrakechCame here for a cooking lesson & got so much more. We were recommended this place by a blog for a cooking lesson, little did we know we’d get a tour, history & some of the best food we’ve ever tasted included. 10/10 - a must when visiting MarrakechWritten 23 August 2024

- emmagV4023ZC0 contributionsA very special Riad with a personal touch! We have just returned from a wonderful 7 night stay at Riad Dar Zaman. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were taken care of. As a family of four we had two of the rooms and it almost felt like we had our own personal riad. The rooms were very comfortable and tastfully decorated. The breakfasts were beautiful and served on the terrace which was a wonderful start to our day. The staff were all so friendly and there was always someone on hand to provide chilled water or mint tea! The little plunge pool was also most welcome at the end of a hot day exploring. We did the Atlas Mountains Trip, Essaouira Beach and the cooking class all of which were great. As part of the cooking class Peter provided a very interesting tour of the food markets and some local history which was facinating. The cooking class was fun and we had an extremely tasty lunch to eat afterwards! The riad is in a good location for all the main sites. We did get a bit lost a couple of times but the maps.me app was really helpful as recommended by the riad staff. We also had a great recommedation from Peter for a day pass at the Beldi Country Club to use their lovely pools all set in beautiful gardens. A wonderful last day to our holiday. In summary we would thorougholy recommend and a big thank you to Peter, Hanza, Adil and Karima.Written 4 August 2024
- jasonfW8158ZI0 contributionsVery accommodating. Wonderful stay.Riad Dar Zaman was an incredible stay. The team was so accommodating, making our comfortability and happiness priority #1. Less than 5 minute walk from the souk markets and easy to catch a taxi to anywhere else. Can't recommend this Riad enough.Written 27 July 2024
- wright_800 contributionsSuperb Cooking class experienceOne of the best experiences of our trip to Marrakech. Peter took us on a tour before the cooking started where we experienced some local sights such as bread ovens, market, hamman and some other historical sights. Peter was fun, friendly and informative throughout. We then went to Riad Dar Zaman where our cooking class began with Hassan and Karima. We're vegetarians and class was adapted to us. We made a vegetable tagine, salads, desserts and mint tea. Hassan and Karima were so lovely, friendly and helpful throughout. All recipes were shared after and we then got to have the food for lunch. It was definitely one of the best meals we've had. The food was so amazing we can't wait to recreate when home. The experience was never rushed and would recommend to anyone wanting to learn about the local food whilst having a fun experience. Great for couples.Written 28 June 2024
- 561helenah0 contributionsFabulous experienceGreat experience here. We booked the cooking class and it was brilliant. Peter was lovely - took us on an informative tour about local life. Hassan was wonderful and Karima’s cooking skills and tips were amazing. Great visit, can highly recommend this lovely Riad and people for a day out.Written 12 June 2024
- Sherpa388698092650 contributionsWhat can we say....What can we say.....Peter and staff were amazing. That should always be on the top of any travellers list. Helpful, friendly, happy the list could go on. The riad was a surprise after walking down very close alleyways. I'd actually compare it to the tardis. The courtyard was idyllic with water trickling into the plunge pool, which was a must for your feet after walking all day. It's so accessible to the souks with about a 5-10 minute walk and about 20 minutes to the main square. Once you figured out how to get there. We stayed in the terrace room, which wasn't massive but plenty big enough and had everything you need. To be honest we slept and showered in there and that was it. Lastly the food, it seems they're always cooking as the smell make you hungry on its own. We had meals the first day and could have easily eaten there all 4 days but wanted to experience as much as we could. But there was plenty to keep your hunger at bay with the included breakfast. We both enjoyed Marrakesh with both the food and the people being our high lights. I would post some pictures, but it was too relaxing to worry about the technology we seem to not live with out.Written 8 June 2024

This was the highlight of our Marrakech trip. Hosted by Peter who runs a lovely Riad the class was conducted by a fantastic local cook Karim assisted and translated by Hassan. We visited the food market first, then the Hammam and local bread ovens and finally learnt step by step how to make chicken tagine and Moroccan salads . The food was SO delicious and we were later sent the recipes by Peter. Altogether a great experience with the nicest of people.

The food we prepared and cooked was definitely the best we had during our stay in the city! Karima and Hassane were passionate about their cooking and showed us some of the little techniques that transform "good" into "excellent"!

Learning about a culture different than your own is an amazing experience and I've always felt it's done best through food. Hassan and Karima were our hosts for the afternoon and they couldn't have been more gracious and welcoming...by the time the afternoon was over I felt like we had made friends. It was the highlight of my trip to Morocco (I'm a culinary nerd) and would advise anyone to give this a shot, even if you aren't into cooking.

Have you ever done something that exceeded all expectations? This cooking class did just that and I am so pleased my lovely stepson chose this particular class. It was fun, so simple and the food was delicious. Peter (owner of the raid), Hassan and Karima were very warm and welcoming and generous with their time. This class was the highlight of Marrakech for all of us. Thank you 😀

We were warmly welcomed at the riad by Adil and Karima. The tour with Adil was very informative. Afterwards we started making salads, the tajine and a dessert with lots of explanation and tips. Plus, they take really nice pictures. Well worth it!

I had a fantastic time cooking with the sweet and funny Karima. In fact, every week when I meal prep I use salt to remove the skin from my meat just like Karima taught me.! Hassan nailed the photo ops and videography so I have memories forever! I started the day with a local tour and lovely chat with Peter. I couldn't have felt more welcomed or cared for. Book this experience now!

What an absolutely fantastic experience, highly recommended. An opportunity to experience the real Marrakesh and savour the most delightful food in the process. The hosts (Peter, Hassan and Karima) were super friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel so welcome. We were guided through a culinary adventure in the kitchen with the banquet served up on the roof terrace.

What a wonderful RIAD, we booked here for a cooking experience on my birthday. Peter, Hassan and Sakina are the perfect hosts. Peter provides a great tour of the local medina, including Bread oven and Hamman prior to us preparing and cooking our meal. The food was wonderful, so tasty and we got to sit up on the terrace with two lovely Italian ladies who did the cooking experience with us. The group size was perfect, to allow everyone to get involved with everything. Fantastic English communication and so helpful, we even booked our trip to the Atlas Mountains via Peter and Hassan. I had the best birthday day in a beautiful setting of RIAD dar zaman. Highly recommend this and would happily do it all again. Follow RIAD DAR ZAMAN on instagram to get a flavour of all they have to offer and see what you are missing if you haven’t been! Thank you Peter, Hassan & Sakina
