- Jesse36700 contributionsShark cageI don't know where to begin. The crew was very professional. Very knowledgeable on the marine life. I highly recommend them.Written 18 March 2024
- adriannewolbers0 contributionsFantastic!I had never swam with sharks before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this trip was awesome. The sharks came up so so close to the cage at times and we even got to see some epic whale action on our way back into shore. The crew was also great and very knowledgeable on the area and history of shark diving in Hawai’i. Would definitely recommend!Written 13 March 2024
- rickbiederstadt0 contributionsAMAZING Day in North Shore swimming with the SharksThis was the BEST TOUR I have ever taken. It was amazing. Checked this off of the bucket list. A little nervous before getting into the cage, but that was gone when we saw the first Galapagos shark. It's the open ocean so the 3-mile boat ride was a little tough to get out there but nothing we couldn't handle. The boat crew were professional, had safety in mind, and made this a GREAT Day!. I'd HIGHLY recommend this to anyone. If any feedback, I'd say we had 7 in the cage in our group and that was 1-2 too many for the amount of water movement, but overall a GREAT Day! I would do this again in a heartbeat. I just wish I would have 2 tours back to back this was SO GOOD. Buy the hoodie they sell and bring your GoPro's. WELL WORTH IT. Get out there and enjoy!Written 10 March 2024
- kateweklar0 contributionsAmazing crew and experience for our family! The staff was knowledgable, fun and great with our kids. The boys are 8 and 10 so this was a true adventure for them and the staff helped them feel safe and comfortable as we experienced seeing whales on the way out and tons of Galapagos sharks from the cage. A truly unforgettable experience!Written 10 March 2024
- nicoledG6252ZP0 contributionsAmazing experience! This adventure was my daughter’s idea but I’m so glad that I got in the water to experience it as well. The crew on the boat were professional, knowledgeable and fun. Would definitely do this again.Written 3 March 2024
- ExdssNiagara0 contributionsGreat experienceFabulous experience with the sharks! A definite must-do while in Oahu. Depending on the time of year you go, the water can be really rough so plan accordingly (sea nausea pills). We went in February and the water was very turbulent and in the cage, but it did not stop the 20+ sharks from showing up like usual.Written 29 February 2024

- christinaak930 contributionsCool experience with sharks but could be better organizedThe cage diving with sharks was a really cool experience! They split you into groups so that the cage isn’t too crowded and you spend quite a while with the sharks. Probably about 15 minutes. The guide was very kind and friendly but having done many other excursions in Hawaii I was surprised he didn’t share more info about the area or sharks with us. He basically just told us the rules and how to get in. The check in was a little confusing. It took a while to find the stand and the lady checking us in didn’t give us any info. The bathroom available doesn’t even have doors on the stalls which made it a very awkward and uncomfortable experience. Last thing - in the confirmation email they say if you’re coming from Waikiki to not listen to google maps as it takes 1.5 hours with traffic. I’m sure in the afternoon this info is correct but we went for the early morning tour (7am) so there was no traffic and we ended up arriving extremely early. Overall still a good experience since we got to see Galapagos sharks and spent a good amount of time in the water with them! Just think the tour can be better organized and the crew should share more info about the sharks and area.Written 20 February 2024
- lauraheywoodphot20240 contributionsGreat experience if you've never dived with sharks beforeI grew up on Oahu and I've had several friends do shark cage tours. They've all seemed to have an overall positive and fun experience. I am a certified open water diver, and I've had the pleasure to dive with sharks outside of a cage prior to this experience. The only reason we decided to book with a cage, is that I'm about 20 weeks pregnant! Obviously I am unable to scuba dive but I also didn't want to tread water for too long, so we thought the cage would be best. The crew was great and very informative. I believe there were a total of 15 people in our group, but they do split you up when you go into the cage. We lucked out on the weather and had super calm seas (we took the 9:30 AM tour). The boat ride was about 20 min out of the harbor and we got to see some whales along the way! Once they tie off to the cage, they provide snorkels and guide you in. One of the crew members was super awesome and let me borrow his GoPro stick since I forgot mine. We were in the water for about 20 minuets or so and saw 6 Galapagos sharks right away, some swam up to the cage, under and around. It was fun to admire them. The cage is fairly roomy but you are bobbing up and down with the natural swells. I did end up getting a little sick after I got out of the cage because I was bobbing a lot. I do get sea sick (pregnant or not) and took Dramamine prior, but it didn't ruin the experience for me. I'm glad we got to do this but I think I prefer to actually dive under water. Sharks are amazing creatures and it's exhilarating being next to them. You also don't get to feel the current as much being under the water, but that's my preference. There was a family with younger children in our group, and those kids seemed to have a blast! Very much recommend it if you haven't done it before or if you're feeling timid about a no-cage kind of experience.Written 19 February 2024

- Danielle D0 contributionsAmazing Family ExperienceWe were able to go on the Shark Cage Dive experience due to my son receiving his wish from Make-A-Wish. Even though we had to reschedule our dive due to weather, North Shore Shark Adventures made sure to get us on a dive later in the week and we were so thankful. They also gave my song a t-shirt, towel, and key chain as a gift. It meant a lot to him! The weather was still kind of rough the day we went, but we were still able to go. My son, who's wish it was, started to get scared on the way out, but the guide did everything he could to make him feel safe. My son was able to get in the water and loved every minute of the dive! We were in the water about 15 minutes total, but it was the perfect amount of time. Things to note - the water is EXTREMELY salty out at that depth. Because it is so salty, you're extremely buoyant. It makes you feel like you're wearing a life jacket. My children did not need life jackets because of this. We also paid $75 for the Go-Pro video from the dive company and it was well worth it! I didn't have to worry about taking video or pictures. I was able to fully enjoy the time out there. We did all get somewhat seasick, so be aware of the possibility.Written 8 February 2024

Amazing experience! Capt Ken provided a super awesome trip out to see a ton of Galapagos sharks, took great care of his guest. Stopped to observe some humpback whales on the way out. Incredibly affordably priced by comparison. Would absolutely do it again next visit.

We had so much fun!! We did not have to go that far into the ocean when we had about 5 sharks swimming around the cage. Went early at 10AM and just being able to see such beautiful animals in their natural habitat was amazing. I will never forget the adrenaline rush I got when I first jumped in, but the captain and the whole crew made us feel confident and safe throughout the experience will 100% recommend !

Shark Cage Diving in Northshore Oahu - The Most Thrilling Underwater Experience i have ever had..We saw n swam with 15 -20 sharks (8 foot - 12 foot). They are very close to the cage. They take you a way offshore and stop near a cage that is floating out in the ocean && then JUMP in the cage..scared the hell out of me for a few mins.. Its not like scuba..its more caging..

Can you do this if pregnant?

I wouldn't recommend if you are pregnant. Not only is it difficult getting in and out of the cage but the cage is very rough. I ended up banging my knee into the cage and got kicked a few times by others in the cage. The water rocks the cage that it is very hard not to be tossed around.

Hi,
The tour looks very interesting..! I can swim freestyle. But I have never snorkeled before and I'm not sure I can tread water..? Can I participate in the event?
Also, gopros can work 33ft down in water. I'm interested in filming some of the sights during the activities. Does it go below 33ft?
Thank you!
Bryon D
Bismarck, IL8 contributions
The dive is on the surface only. The cage floats on the surface of the water. The deepest you can dive is about 8-10ft to the bottom of the cage. You don't need to swim or tread water. There's not enough room in the cage to do either. You hold onto the handrails and bars on the side of the cage. If you try to swim, you will kick other participants.
What is the minimum age for getting in the cage? TIA
Bryon D
Bismarck, IL8 contributions
I don't think the operator has set a minimum age. There was a boy about 7 years old that was in the cage with his dad when we went. He did fine.
