About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- MaBiobabe0 contributionsHistorical Kona Dinner Cruise to Kealakekua BayStaff was great. The dinner was surprisingly good. Appreciated the cup holders and the small tables which made dining easier. The boat got in very close to the Cook monument. Saw a whale spout. We really enjoyed ourselves.Written 14 February 2025
- warnerlisa0 contributionsAmazing afternoon Whale WatchingWe saw so many whales. I got amazing pictures of several breaching. It was awesome to see them flipping full body above the water. The entire crew was amazing and made it an extremely fun time. We also loved it was a smaller boat with less people and we all chatted and enjoyed the experience together.Written 12 February 2025
- 973sck0 contributionsDon't Miss this Experience! Super Raft Whale WatchingHighly recommend Body Glove. Staff was informative, fun, and professional. Makenna, Tyler, Craig (I think I have the names correct) and any other crew I missed were as excited about our experience as we were. Fortunately, we saw many whales, almost continuously throughout our 2.5 hour boat ride. Makenna provided so many facts about the whales whenever there was a pause in the action. She explained what we were seeing and why whales were doing what they were doing that day. When in Kona, don't miss this experience.Written 12 February 2025
- Christine P0 contributionsA Great Evening of Music, History, and Delicious FoodEverything on this sunset dinner cruise was great! The boat was comfortable, the historian onboard pointed out the historic sites and told the stories of Hawai'i's past, the live music was fun, and the 3 course dinner and service were perfect. And the sunset views along with whales and dolphins along our route were superb.Written 11 February 2025
- DayTrip508535078710 contributionsYou MUST do this!Beautiful boat with excellent crew. The Hawaiian woman who provided the history of the coastline passing by was A+++. She spoke Hawaiian and knew more than 90% of the people who have lived on the island their entire lives. Musician was great too. And the food, OMG, awesome. Hard to believe we were getting such a delicious meal on a boat! Save room for the dessert too.Written 11 February 2025

The captain expertly tracked the whales for the rest of our experience and we were fortunate to have the whales surface multiple times within meters of us. We could see the whales through the crystal clear water. It was well worth the money.Written 7 February 2025

We took the half day snorkel trip aboard their catamaran with our 5 year old and it was a great time all around. The crew were friendly and helpful. The boat was spacious and clean. Though it can hold well over 100, they cap passengers at 90 so everyone has space to roam and sit. A light breakfast of tougher granola fruit and pastries was offered right at boarding with complimentary coffee and soft drinks. Lots of water toys and quality snorkel gear for kids of all ages. Nice bbq lunch. Highly recommend.

(We actually visited in Nov 2021 but the site did not allow me an option to select the year 2021)
This review has been long overdue! We went and had a great time. I highly recommend this if you like snorkeling in a group setting.
We took the early morning option. We boarded around 7:30 and the cruise promptly started at 8 am. Along the way, we were served a welcome drink.
We cruised for about an hour with beautiful views of the island. We anchored at a secluded place close to the shore. My group decided to go snorkeling but some people also decided to chill on the boat.
The boat was also equipped a couple of slides to jump into the ocean. That was a lot of fun! Some of the kids had a great time with the slides and so did we!
The crew was helpful and kept a close eye on beginners like me during the snorkeling, which put beginners like me at ease. We did see some sea life but I've been to better locations for snorkeling before.
We were anchored for about 2 hrs and then we headed back. It was a total of about 4 hrs.

My nephew had been on the Body Glove snorkel tour a few times and suggested we all go during a family reunion week in Hawaii. Everything he told me about it was true - the crew is incredibly helpful, engaging, and informative. We had a big group and a few times had to revise our booking as people were added or dropped from our list. The communication was great, and there was no difficulty modifying our reservation. The trip itself was wonderful - saw spinner dolphins on our way to a nice reef with good snorkeling. The boat also had a water slide and jumping deck which all of the kids enjoyed as well as rafts, inner tubes, lily pads and paddle boards! Safety is a priority and there were lifeguards watching us from the boat and in the water during our time off the boat. Breakfast and lunch were very good, especially the burgers cooked on the boat's grill. Very impressed by the entire experience, and the kindness and knowledge of the Captain and his crews. Book it - you'll love it!

Seeing spinner dolphins and enjoying the various activities on the boat, like the water slide and jumping deck, sounds like a lot of fun! From the time we boarded the vessel to the moment we stepped foot back on the pier the captain and crew made the day special for all. The weather was perfect and the cruising was smooth all the way to what felt like a secluded snorkeling point exclusive to our group.
Brunch and lunch were simple yet sweet with nothing too heavy. The on board bar was nice with plenty of delicious cocktails with great prices. The crew also acted as servers and were very present and attentive.
Body glove provided plenty of ways to have fun in the water. Snorkels, fins, paddle boards, a bridge of rafts that led to a giant floating island to relax on, special boards for the little kids to float on with windows to allow them to sea the reef and fish beneath them.
The only downside was that the fun eventually had to end.
Also, having nothing to do with the services provided, but people suck. We had a family that seemed to ignore all the rules and just didn’t seem to care. From dropping oars into the reef and mentioning nothing about it to leaving pool noodles to drift away only to lie about them using it when the crew asked them to retrieve the noodle they were planning on leaving behind.

My wife and I live in Kailua Kona and have seen a lot of large snorkel boats over the years take out tourists to see our beautiful reefs and shoreline. By far the best of those is the Body Glove. The boat is clean, roomy, there is plenty of shade, and the crew are top notch. We were greeted by Captain Bob as we boarded the vessel and Jacob took special care of us when on the boat or in the water. He was like our bud by the end of the day. Captain Bob served up plenty of stories as we saw certain features on the coastline and always sounded like he was enjoying the ride along with the rest of us. Five Stars.

Body Glove provided a great boat that was not overcrowded. Despite the number of people on our tour—around 90 according to Captain Bob—we had our own family space to enjoy the trip. The crew, including Mikhael, was friendly and attentive. While we were moving, they ensured customers were well-hydrated and informed of the areas we were passing (thanks to Capt Bob’s nice narration). When we were stopped, they kept a close eye on the folks swimming and snorkeling around the boat. They also provided a tasty BBQ hamburger lunch. The high jump and water slide were two components of the boat that lured my teenagers to this company, and both options were great. Others seemed to enjoy the stand-up paddle boards and large water mats. The one item that did not meet expectations was the quality of snorkeling. The area, which may have been called “Ridges,” did not contain almost any fish. I may have seen only three small ones during my thirty minutes. Perhaps nature was just not cooperating that day, but I have never seen so few fish on a journey billed as a snorkeling tour. Hopefully this was just an isolated event. Besides that, the trip was great.

Aloha EricMichelle,
Mahalo for joining us and taking the time to leave a great review! It is wonderful to read how happy you were with our vessel, Captain and crew!
Regarding our snorkeling destination. We snorkel in an area called RedHill and "Ridges" is indeed one of the many moorings our Captain will choose from. To maintain and preserve the coral reefs moorings are placed in deeper water. This is done so that moorings do not disturb coral colonies. To enjoy optimal snorkeling guests must move closer to shore to shallower water. It is hard to know from reading your review if you did that or stayed right next to the vessel.
We wish you the very best, thank you again!

Our family, especially our teens, had a great time on this cruise! It was so well organized and safe. The staff were really informative and fun. Our captain was captain Bob and he shared some cool spots on the coast with us. Mikhail was the first to help us and got us some juice and water. We got tips and information from Kyler about other snorkelling spots and local animals. Maddison gave us our safety talk and watched out for us while we were in the water. When a child fell off a paddle board (with their parent) she dove in right away to check they were okay. Cosmo got the beginner snorkelers orientated to the equipment which my husband attended (and I should have because my snorkel needed some adjusting) Getting in and out of the water was easy because there was always at least 2 staff members there to help. I can't remember the name of the person who helped my family get in & out (May have been Chris? He had cool green hair) He made sure our equipment was on right and fixed what needed to be fixed. The snorkelling was fantastic for us! It was wavier than we were used to but they offered life vests and pool noodles. My older teens and I didn't use anything and had a great time. We actually saw a sea turtle! My oldest saw an eel far down in the reef.
On the way there we saw humpback whales and learned a bit about their journey and what we were likely seeing (2 males vying for a female) But it was absolutely amazing when we saw dolphins! And one was a baby! They ended up racing in front of our boat and then leaping in the waves in our wake. This activity was worth it and I hope that I can go on it again one day.

My wife and I and friends booked this excursion through our company while we were in Kona. It was fabulous! The boat holds quite a few people but we never felt crowded. The captain and crew were outstanding in every way. They talked with the guests and always made sure to see if the guests required anything. We were served a continental breakfast on boarding the catamaran and while snorkeling they grilled hamburgers/cheeseburgers with all the fixings. It was a great day. The snorkeling is a protected cove and there were plenty of fish to see. The crew extended every hospitality you could imagine. To top it off, the captain made sure we saw a number of dolphins on the way back to the pier. Do not hesitate to book this excursion....you will not regret it!

We purchased the 4.5 hour catamaran snorkeling excursion on the big island of Hawaii for our 2 daughters, ages 29 and 17. They absolutely loved it and had a fabulous time! They loved the slide, diving board and especially that they had the opportunity to paddle board. They were taken to a beautiful bay area only accessible by boat and the water was gorgeous. They opted not to eat the breakfast and lunch to avoid getting sea sick, but all the other amenities and the staff were wonderful. Definitely worth the money!

We have been on cruises with this company many times. That is why we selected them during our most recent vacation to the Big Island.
Our snorkel cruise was originally scheduled for Tuesday of the week of our trip. Weather conditions caused a cancellation. We rebooked the last day we could, hoping the ocean would calm down a bit.
The crew was nice. Ariel was the most attentive. One of the male crew was trying to get phone numbers from the young ladies on the cruise. Seemed a couple of notches short of professional.
The music was in poor taste and it was very loud. This has historically been a very family friendly outing, we expect PG music. Bad, grating music was a huge negative for us. In the past, they always played island themed, delightful music. Not this time.
One of the things we have loved about our previous Body Glove cruises has been the hot meal served after snorkeling. Imagine our disappointment to have cold food instead of hot. Cold cheeseburgers were a huge disappointment.
One can get a cold deli sandwich on any of the many tours offered by other providers.
Body Glove can't control the weather, or the water conditions. They can control their staff, the music they play and the quality of the food they serve. The music and the food were very disappointing to us.
It is impossible to articulate how badly I wish we had an experience deserving of a better rating.

What is the food on offer? Our party has one pescatarian and one person who is gluten free. Will they be able to eat the meals provided?

I would definitely ask the company. They are extremely helpful and responsive to questions such as this.

What time in the morning do we have to check in? My cruise ship arrives at 8am. Do I have time to leave my ship and make the catamaran?
Written 14 March 2022
One has to checkin at 7:30, boat leaves at 8. Not sure where you dock and how long it takes to debark. It doesn’t sound feasible to me.
I think there might be one a noon. You are back on the pier within 3 hours.
I hope this helps.

If you are asking this question specifically for the Snorkel Tour, no vaccination requirements are needed. The only requirement for the Snorkel tour is a mask must be worn to board the boat.

we are vaccinated, do you still require being on the island for 10 days? thanks

Can my three year old attend or is there an age limit?
Written 13 February 2020
No age limit for the boat ride, but yes for the snorkeling.
Written 11 April 2021
No, you don't have to snorkel. A couple people on ours did not. It was about 3-4 hours, and they served a morning snack and lunch.

“We are going to be on Kona island for a cruise. Are we able to do this excursion if we are on a cruise? Do you offer transportation from the cruise port?”
Written 8 November 2019
Yes you should be able too the whole excursion took around 4-5 hrs and the tenders usually run a long time

We are sailing in November & this looks like a fun excursion. Is it easy to climb out of the water, back onto the boat? I don't have much upper body strength to pull myself out of the water but if their ladder extends into the water & I can get my feet on it, I can pull myself. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to get yourself back onboard? Thanks!
Written 28 September 2019
Yes! The ladder is well below the water level and the employees are always right there to assist.

We are on Celebrity Cruises. Is the boarding area for the Catamaran near the cruise port ? Is this tour good for cruise passengers ? Thank you.
Written 18 August 2019
Yes for both questions. Just check the timing. We left at 8:00 am. Not sure what time you’re docked or how long.
