    What to Expect
You will depart from the cruise terminal by boat, cruising along the shores to the village of Livingston, where you will stop to use the restrooms and pick-up bottled water. Then you will visit Rio Dulce Canyon with its 300 feet walls full of vegetation, the fresh water springs, the Cow’s cave, and the Pioneer’s Wall where the pirates wrote their names.

On the way to the Children’s School, you will see how the native catch the famous “Silver fish” Catch of the Day. Swim in the fresh waters of Tatín Creek if you wish.

At the school, the children will sing folkloric songs and interact with you, from there you will visit the hot water springs and go inside the cave where Juan Tatín, the pirate used to hide (optional), you will also see the lake of Lilies and the Birds Island, followed by lunch at Posada El Delfín.

Then you will have a short city walking tour, there you will be able to buy souvenirs and other things, then back at the terminal 1.5 hours before departure.

The humanitarian tour arranged by Gustavo (Gus) and Iracema was a truly special trip. We had the great privilege of visiting a rural primary school on the "Rio Dulce"(Sweet River) and bring a few gifts to the children. It was a truly eye opening experience especially for our 2

We have travelled a lot and this was probably the best tour we have ever been on, I read the reviews before travelling and felt a little nervous after reading the do not go with Gus review but was totally put as ease with Gus and his crew, the boat trip out was perfectly smooth

We were not disappointed with this excursion. From reading other reviews, we knew that the boat ride to Livingston could be choppy. We sat in the back of the boat, and it was difficult if not impossible to hear the guide's comments. Other than that, the excursion was excellent.

This was a great way to get an overview of coastal Guatemala. The whole tour is by boat with several stops to see points of interest. The owner,Gus, also owns a small hotel and restaurant en route that he uses for "potty" breaks and a lunch stop. My wife and I were suffering

I booked online, through Viator, for "Go with Gus" for $99/person. I found out that you could book this same tour on the dock for $69/person, to "Go with Gus".. The company that actually owns the boats that are used for the tour charges $40/person. We all had our life jackets

Response from gusTurcios, Owner at Shore Excursion: Rio Dulce and Hot Springs Tour with Visit to the Children's School
    Responded 10 Apr. 2019
Dear guest: Sorry for the delay replying to your comment, in reading it I can see some abnormalities that we were not aware of...If possible I would like to know the name of the tour guide that did such terrible job, for we have several tour guides. In response to your different comments, I will try to respond to them in the best possible way... About the school supplies: It is true when guests bring school supplies in boxes, the Customs officials request forms to be filled before allowing the goods to be taken on a tour, and that's what happened on this occasion. This caused the hour-delayed departure. About the 20 passenger per boat comment, we have to use a large boat, for the Transportation Union is very difficult to work with - the minimum they charge for using one of their boats is 12 passengers fee even if you only have 2 -4 passengers. About the noise the boat engines make, that is not much we can do about it. About the price break; we do give it to returning guests, senior citizens, small children and if someone tell us they don't have enough to pay full price or if they bring school supplies. About the school stop; this is the highlight of the Humanitarian tour, and we can not rush the guests who want to spend some time with the children.. As you may know, when doing a collective tour, one has to go with the majority's decision like in the case of the beer purchasing or the lunch skipping idea… About the lunch, we have eliminated the salad and instead added cooked vegetables and about the oil, we have changed the brand. About the terminal returning time, on that particular day, the ship had changed the departure to half an hour earlier, so we had to rush to make it on time. If I may, I like to add the fact that in the many years we have been doing this tour, not one of our guests had missed the ship, as it has occurred with other tour companies. About the refueling comment, I don’t understand for we always, get more fuel than is needed to run the tour. About the weather conditions change, again is not much we can do about it for this is an act of God. Sorry for your cell phones. Finally, we would like to point to the fact that we also have PRIVATE tours, were the guest is in total control of the tour!
