- rogerkU1311XF0 contributionsA very memorable experience! My wife and I travelled to Belize for a week for a belated "honeymoon", having been married for nearly 45 years. We booked four tours with Truly Wild Belize, and Jason and his team did a fantastic job making our trip special. Monkey River -- Our tour guide, Alex, was very knowledgeable and professional. We toured the mangroves between Placencia and the mouth of Monkey River and had the opportunity to view some feeding manatees. On the Monkey River itself, we saw howler monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas, basilisk lizards, and various birds and butterflies. Alex's family prepared us a very nice lunch of fish or chicken with rice, fried plantain, and tomatoes. Xunantunich and the Inland Blue Hole -- It was a little rainy that day, but that didn't stop Israel from giving us a great tour of the Mayan temple. The cloud cover and few sprinkles actually made for a very pleasant day. Israel was very knowledgeable and accommodating, and the Xunantunich site was amazing! We stopped at the inland blue hole (cenote) on the way back for a refreshing swim. Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave -- Israel was our driver again for this trip, and Francisco and his nephew, Akeem, were our tour guides in the cave. My wife was a bit nervous about this tour, but Francisco took her under his wing and did an outstanding job of making the day special. His passion and enthusiasm for the ancient Mayan culture are infectious. This was a real one-of-a-kind experience! Island Hopping -- Our guide for the day was Akeem "The Dream" (no relation to the Akeem above). We visited three islands and had a great time. The first stop was Laughing Bird Caye National Park, a small island surrounded by a protected marine reserve. We did some snorkeling, and Akeem did a great job of helping my wife, who is not a strong swimmer and had never been snorkeling, so she could relax and really enjoy seeing all the marine life. We saw various kinds of coral, a lemon shark, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, a variety of colorful fish, and more. The next stop was King Lewey's for a nice lunch. The final stop was a small private island with lots of shade trees and picnic tables. We also did a little fishing, and I caught a first ever barracuda. Jason and his guys did a great job, and we highly recommend Truly Wild Belize!Written 14 August 2024
- Carol B0 contributionsAmazing!!Cave tubing and zip lining with Truly WILD Belize was a fantastic adventure. Our tour guide, Israel, was exceptional, making the experience even more enjoyable with his knowledge and enthusiasm. Floating through the serene, underground caves was awe-inspiring, and zip lining over the lush rainforest provided an exhilarating thrill. This tour is the ultimate way to explore Belize's natural wonders.Written 9 August 2024
- carolehC5893QG0 contributionsHistory and fun rolled into oneWe did 2 tours with Truly Wild Belize, the Island Hop and one of the ruins. Both tours were amazing. This is the first time that I ever went snorkeling and actually had a guide who took the time to really show us what we were looking at. We saw all the things we wanted to see. The guides on both trips were knowledgeable about what they were showing us and the history of Belize in general. I learned so much about this beautiful country. Thank you for a wonderful time!Written 25 July 2024
- teamwilc0x0 contributionsTransportation to and from Belize City airport :)We stayed in Placencia for two weeks June 21- July 6 and used Truly Wild Belize for transportation to and from the Belize City airport. Both of our drivers were awesome. Very knowledgeable about the area. We stopped both directions to stretch our legs and get a drink. I highly recommend their services!Written 13 July 2024
- CarlS9550 contributionsTop notch shuttle service!Round trip shuttle from Belize City to Placencia for 8 people. Prices were fair and service was excellent. The driver's were fantastic and shared some local info. I would highly recommend their services. I’ll use them next time I’m back!Written 24 June 2024

Lunch at Raye Cay was amazing and be sure to try the water slide. My husband and I are looking forward to our next adventure. Can't recommend the company and the guides enoughWritten 11 June 2024

- L535ABsusanc0 contributionsMonkey River TourWe did the Monkey River Tour with Alex. Alex is from that area and had all the insider information to share. We saw so many animals and unlike other tour groups we saw, Alex was very respectful of the people, animals, and land. Highly recommend!!Written 6 June 2024
- katylovoi0 contributionsAsked for a ride to the airport...got an amazing "tour" instead! So we actually just used Truly Wild Belize for transportation from Placencia to Belize City at the tail end of our stay in Belize. We thought we were just getting a ride--but instead we got a history lesson and a wonderful conversation! Robin was so well-informed as a tour guide that our drive to the airport flew by in the most pleasant way. I definitely plan to return to Belize with my family at some point, and absolutely would consider this company for excursions in the future. We got way more than we asked for with our "ride," and it was absolutely amazing! Thank you for such a wonderful experience. The Belizean culture, history, and people have been a joy to get to know.Written 16 May 2024
- 636cliffs0 contributionsA truly wonderful experienceWe were in Placencia last week (which is amazing) and the host of the house where we stayed recommended contacting Jason who owns Truly Wild Belize if we wanted to go fishing and snorkeling. We are so happy we did! Jason set us up with Captain Jamie and snorkel master Louis. They were both excellent at their jobs, Jamie being a fishing expert and Louis being an expert in the aquatic coral, fish and other wildlife we encountered while snorkeling. The main thing I want to emphasize is that we were able to both fish and snorkel. On most trips we’ve taken it was one or the other but Jamie and Louis kept everyone happy. Not all of our party wanted to fish. So, Captain Jamie dropped off those who didn’t want to fish on a wonderfully remote island (which had a bar, restaurant and wifi! where they had a blast) and took those of us who wanted to fish out to the barrier reef and Continental Shelf where we had a blast! It was a complete win-win situation. We caught the biggest barracuda I have ever seen as well as a mutton snapper and had a few more bites as well. While we were fishing, the rest of our party chilled on the beach, snorkeled and had a drink or two. Our fishing group returned to the island where our entire group had a fantastic lunch. After lunch we travelled to another island where we all did serious snorkeling. Louis was our leader and was amazing at identifying and explaining the things we saw. All in all, we all thought it was a highlight of our trip. I am certain our experience is exemplary of what you enjoy on any of Jason’s excursions. Do not hesitate to book a trip with these guys. They are awesome!Written 9 May 2024
- Karen M0 contributionsGreat day at the WaterfallWe had a great time with our tour guide Israel to do river tubing and waterfall hike. He was very personable and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our drive to the waterfall and pleasures raft down the river. Afterward Israel took us to an amazing restaurant for an authentic Belizean lunch. It was a lovely 1/2 day tour.Written 26 April 2024
- Departure308558476060 contributionsBelize tubing and waterfallFrom Placencia —- We did the river tubing and waterfall. Perfect the instant our guide Israel picked us up. Provided amazing history of the area. Recommended the specific activities for us. Both spectacular. Local Belize lunch at the amazing Happy Ranch was one of the best meals on our trip. He also recommended one of his favorite Placencia restaurants which did not disappoint.Written 26 April 2024
- ldoeden70 contributionsWonderful excursionWe had an awesome experience with Truly Wild. Our guide, Isreal, was top-notch, very knowledgeable on the area, and the ruins. Cave tubing was a very cool experience. we had a great time. This is the second trip we have booked with this company, very professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We will definitely use them in the future.Written 15 April 2024
- FarAway585147719950 contributionsBook All your Placencia, Belize Adventures with Truly Wild Belize! We used Truly Wild Belize for ALL our but one of our excursions for our week long stay in Placencia and couldn't have been happier. Jason, the owner of Truly Wild Belize, worked with us to customize excursions for our adventerous family, and they were all a hit - ATVs to waterfalls, Tiger Fern sunset hike & waterfalls, an island hopping day to Silk Caye, Ray Caye, and Moho Caye for incredible snorkeling, and a cave kayaking excursion. Jason and his team were responsive, professional, fun, and always on time, and becasue we booked everything with them we were able to change the order of our excursions to best fit the weather as our week unfolded. We should have booked directly with Truly Wild Belize for our shuttle to/from the Belize airport, too, as we paid a significant markup by booking that shuttle through our hotel. Use Truly Wild Belize for all your outings in Placenica - you won't be disappointed!Written 7 April 2024

We chose to do cave tubing and the ruins one day and then the ATM cave 2 days later, both days with Truly Wild Belize as we were staying in Placencia. Truly Wild had amazing prices, but don't let that fool you because transportation, guides and tours were top notch! Vans had AC (I live in Arizona, USA so yes it was truly great AC), Johnathan was our guide for the cave tubing and ruins and he was nonstop with history, answered all questions, took great care of us and clearly loved what he does. Wilder was our driver for ATM and Francisco was our guide and both of them were amazing too. If we're ever in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to use Truly Wild Belize and highly recommend them.

Jason and his team at Truly Wild are amazing and provide such fun adventures. Having gone with several other tour groups throughout the country, TWB stands out as the best amongst a very competitive and qualified group. Israel took our group to the ATM Caves and it was unreal. From the history we learned on our lovely van ride there to the great lunch that was provided, we would do it again in a heartbeat.

Our experience with our guide, Robin, exceeded our expectations. We had the privilege of getting to have Robin two consecutive days (as a driving guide to ATM the first day and cave tubing/Xunantunich the second). He was so personable and a true wealth of knowledge. He knew everything from historical details about many areas of the country to wilderness survival to rescue and recovery. When he was with our family, we never once felt rushed, and it was clear that this is a job he is not only great at, but passionate about as well. He is a person who is able to wear many hats, including auto mechanic as he was able to revive our car at one point, preventing us from potentially being stranded for a bit! Knowing what I learned from him in just two days, I can't imagine all he could have taught if we had him for a week or more going around the country. Belize is such a beautiful country with a rich history, and he was able to make it all come to life in such an interesting and captivating way. Thank you for contributing to making this such an amazing trip!

Had a great day with Israel, who was a most informative and qualified tour guide. We learned so much and enjoyed the scenic Hummingbird Highway, visiting the Mayan ruins, cave tubing, and driving through the ‘city’. Lunch was awesome too and I LOVE the sour sop drink we had. We felt like we were the only ones at both locations since it was the day before hurricane Lisa was due to hit Belize. Sites were closing early, but Israel made sure we got in and called ahead in order to be sure. We highly recommend this tour company and Israel. It was a truly phenomenal experience! Thank you! I had a friend come to visit for a week and decided to book a couple of tours so they can get a good feel for this amazing country that is Belize. One that i picked was Xunantunich the Mayan ruins and cave tubing. The thing that makes for a great tour is not only the place but also the person giving the tour. We had the pleasure of having Robin as our tour guide. The man is a walking encyclopedia on all things Belize, and Mexico and Guatemala and well all of Central America it turns out. We even learned things about the united States that we didn't know before. Robin was engaging funny and went out of his way to help everyone with what ever they needed. And all of the things we learned about Belize the people the culture and even the plants is something that we will remember for years to come. Looking forward to booking another tour with Robin.

Jonathan was the best guide we could have hoped for. He was so informative and patient with our young granddaughters. The ruins were so impressive and he took the time to interpret the glyphs.
The cave tubing was even better than we expected. Spotted some bats, even saw a tapir swimming in the river. Jonathan worked his heart out pulling us down the river. The caves were just plain awesome.
12 hours of utter beauty.

Jonathan was our guide and he was fun, easygoing, and very knowledgeable about Belize, Mayan history, local flora and fauna. We learned a lot which added to the adventure. It’s a long drive from Placencia, but seeing the country was worth it. Crossing a river on a hand-cranked ferry (they let me crank it!), climbing the pyramid, a delicious lunch, and amazing cave floating and the short jungle hike were all memorable.

The experience to Xunantunich and cave tubing was great! Our tour guide Jonathan was the best. He mixed cultural history and safety with wonderful energy, excitement, and jokes! He answered all of our questions and more. The ruins were beautiful, hot, and had a few steep climbs. Recommend wearing moisture wicking clothing, sunscreen, and grip shoes for the steps. The cave tubing was an experience to remember. Recommend wearing bug repellent, bathing suit with shorts, water shoes(that's a must), and bring dry clothes to change. Overall wonderfully full day of cultural history, food, and good energy!!!!

Our tour guide, Syed Alexander was absolutely amazing and made every part fantastic!!! The cave tubing was magical!
Caution: they are not kidding when they say you need water shoes. It is a decent hike to the mouth of the cave over very rocky (gravel). We bought cheap water shoes with thin soles and the gravel was still hard on our feet. Thick soles are your best friends.
We saw bats, tarantula, a toucan, fish. It was absolutely gorgeous!

Incredible tour! Our guide Robin was a little bit chauffeur, a little bit spelunker, well versed historian and botanist! A wealth of information with a little imagination made the trip to the ruins a trip through time. He then tied the trip to the ruins to the dark cave tour and river float!
The icing on the cake was the in depth knowledge he had of the fauna and flora.
Truly memorable even the teenagers agreed it was a tour well worth taking.

Is the tubing at the same place as the Xunantunich ruins? If not what cave is it and how far apart? Either way, Does the tubing require a lot of hiking? Ie - I read about ATM caves a lot and it said something about a 45 hike then river crossings and a climb to get to the cave. Is this easier in/out than that? Wife has a bad knee. Thx
Written 28 June 2023
The tubing and the ruins are not in the same place. We drove from one to the other, not too far of a drive. I don't remember the name of the cave, but it wasn't too long of a hike from the parking lot to where you enter the stream/river. I'm 62 and not overly active and I made the hike easily. Cave tubing was amazing and I highly recommend it!
