Day Trip to Tikal Maya Ruins Including Lunch
USD 163.00
Overview
Explore Guatemala’s most stunning Maya city on a full day trip from San Ignacio with lunch at a nearby restaurant. Travel back in time as you follow your guide through the remarkable ceremonial center, where weathered stelae, sweeping plazas and imposing temples tell dramatic stories about this ancient civilization. Spot wild turkeys, monkeys and tropical birds within the ruins, and stop to browse Maya crafts and souvenirs at a nearby shop before returning to Belize—don’t forget your passport.
What to Expect
Tikal is an ancient Maya ceremonial center located just across the border in Peten, Guatemala, just 19 miles north of Lake Peten Itza and the quaint town of Flores.

We will drive you the Belize-Guatemala border, only a short 15 minute drive from our office. When you arrive at the border we will pay your border fees and assist you with your crossing, where you will meet your guide. Your guide will drive you for another 1.5 hours before arriving at Tikal National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the way we will pass small villages, beautiful lakeside scenery and rolling hills with rainforest and agriculture.

Upon arrival to Tikal, entrance fees included, your guide will then provide an in-depth 4-hour tour of this magnificent site. Our guide speaks fluent English. Tikal is known for its massive pyramid temples, monumental plazas, palaces and stelas. This is a very significant site in the history of the region, and Tikal was the most powerful metropolis in the area for many centuries. It was a prominent player in the Mesoamerican trade route which extended up into modern day Mexico, as well as Belize and beyond.

You will also have time to view wildlife such as howler monkeys, parrots and toucans, coatis and oscillated turkeys, as well as a sample of some of the modern-day local Guatemala culture. After an extensive tour of the site, we make our way to a local restaurant for a warm lunch (included), including vegan and vegetarian options. After lunch we will have the opportunity to purchase some crafts and souvenirs before heading back across the border to Belize.

Tikal is a unique and impressive Guatemalan archaeological site within close proximity to our Belize headquarters. Take the plunge and get the best of both worlds

Great Tour of the Tikal Ruins

I highly recommend the Tikal tour. MayaWalks arranged it so that everything was covered (ruin admission, boarder fees, lunch, etc.) and we did not have to worry about a thing. We were picked up from our hotel and driven to the Guatemalan boarder. From there...More

We can say enough great things about Mayawalk tours. Not only did we book the crystal caves tour with them, but the day we arrived in Belize we decided at the last minute that we wanted to visit Tikal and were very apprehensive about crossing...More

Tikal with Reggie

Great trip. Reggie knows his stuff, and gave us plenty of time to ask questions and wander. Definitely worth doing if you're in West Belize.

We did not plan to do a guided tour of Tikal, but are so glad we did! MayaWalk was very accommodating, arranging with the driver to stop for a quick breakfast and an ATM when we arrived in Guatemala. Our guide, Reggie, was outstanding! He...More
