I’ve requested refund from them and Trip Advisor and no one has responded. Did not see any cars running the rest of our time there. I highly recommend you pick another tour like the Trolley Tour (we did the next day and really enjoyed that one). I hope writing a review will prompt a refund.Written 22 March 2025

Generally we had a good time, the driver was friendly and informative, and it was easy to meet up. The tour efficiently covers more monuments and buildings in less time compared to walking on your own. DC gets super hot and humid in the summer so we definitely didn't want to do all that walking. However, the electric vehicles are often overcrowded, making the ride uncomfortable, especially on hot and humid summer nights. Management should consider limiting the number of passengers to seven per vehicle max, as eight proved too many, resulting in a very uncomfortable ride for me when squeezed between two other adults. The night we went there were 8 vehicles doing this tour and they figure out how to split up the group onto the 8 vehicles right there and then, which was time consuming and the group leader had to figure out how to make everyone fit. This seems like something that can be planned out beforehand since reservations are required. At this price, the ride should be comfortable for everyone onboard and it wasn't, all 3 of us in my row were just waiting to get off asap.
Note: you don't get very close to the Capitol for photos, the Lincoln and MLK memorials get super crowded despite this being a nighttime tour. There are a ton of these night time tours happening all at once.

Ron was a fantastic tour guide if you’re lucky enough to get him. He had so much knowledge about DC and weaved it seamlessly into the gorgeous nighttime views of the monuments and buildings. He also took great pictures of our family that will last a lifetime. We would highly recommend this tour!!

What a wonderful experience on a slightly rainy Monday evening! Dr. Cook was an awesome guide and ensured we had a great time and saw everything we could given barricades blocking a couple of monuments. We had two carts of coworkers and even when one cart lost power both guides worked together to make sure we all made it back to our hotel safely. I would highly recommend this tour! I’ll be back for the daytime version.

This tour does deliver what it says - famous landmarks lit up at night (mostly). However the real issue is the manner in which it is delivered and the vehicles you ride in.
Our issues with this tour was the following:
1. Tour started 8:00pm before dusk and the capitol building (on our tour schedule) was one of the first buildings and you did not get the effect of the lighting at night which was a major disappointment. Tour start times should be adjusted for the changing dusk time of the season.
2. Two of the seats are addons to the back of the cart essentially designed for children (much narrower and incredibly uncomfortable) and awkward to get in and out of. They seems to be an add on so the cart tour group can be extended to 7 in total and not 5.
3. As a group of three we were asked to join groups of 4 whom are already seated in normal seats first, thus essentially ensuring the worst seating is always for your group of 3
4. Some sights are whizzed by when a short time for a stop would allow for a photo or two.
5. The tour did not follow the published itinerary, and instead of specific 15min stops the tour had a 45 min stop at the Lincoln memorial where you are invited to walk to the vietnam and Korean War memorials in the dark (a requirement which is not published on the schedule) and for customers with disability and/or difficulties walking may in fact not be possible. There is nothing to let you know of this when booking at the time, which means some people cannot get value from the tour.
6. Tour somehow finished 30mins early? (Not sure why we did not our two hours) and at last site stop, the operator offers to drop you at any nearby station on the way back to the start point. Would prefer the trip to stop at earlier sites and take a little longer rather than finish early.
6. Did I mention how uncomfortable the awful seat at the back is? Whatever you do avoid getting lumped in this seat. It is very unpleasant.
We payed approximately $70 and left quite disappointed in the experience for my fellow travellers..
Will be asking for two full refunds simply for how uncomfortable th rear seat is.

We were stuck on the end of a golf cart where the roof wasn't long enough to stop the pouring rain, it was 40 degrees outside and pouring they should have canceled the tour but it was obvious they only wanted to collect our money despite the miserable conditions. If you are stuck in the back two seats you face backwards and cannot even see the landmarks the tour is driving by well because your looking at the cars right behind you. They did not offer to stop at specific spots on the tours to allow us to walk around or take pictures which other bus tours were doing. The first place they actually let us off to see was the Lincoln memorial. We only made it 40 mins in the tour before we had to jump off and call an uber back to our hotel. The hotel staff that new we were going on this tour were shocked after we returned 40 mins later soaking wet and frozen they got your tour information and will never recommend you to any of their customers. JW marriot! Money is not important compaired to people's safety and health. Running noses and sore throats should not be the only thing we got from this experience but unfortunately that's the sad result! Miserable, no customer concern and not a good tour Take a bus tour people don't do this to yourselves.

Our guide, Reggie, was one of the most knowledgeable and friendly individuals I’ve ever met. The insights he shared about FDR and the MLK monument were unique—information you can't find online or in popular biographies. He’s truly a genius, and his passion made the experience fascinating.
However, I’m leaving a poor review not because of Reggie, but because of the tour conditions. The weather should have prompted the tour to be postponed or cancelled. I was unaware when I signed up that I would be riding in an open-air golf cart at 19°F with gale warnings in effect, traveling at 25 mph. While they offered blankets, there were no plastic sides on the cart, and unfortunately, blankets didn’t provide enough warmth to make the experience comfortable. I was so miserably cold the entire time that it was difficult to focus on the incredible history and culture being shared.
To make matters worse, I woke up this morning feeling chafed and sneezing. It’s a shame that the owners of Urban DC Tours would subject their guests and staff to such harsh conditions without proper consideration.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. Whilst we are pleased to learn that Reggie was a fantastic guide, that he was extremely knowledgeable and did all he could to ensure you had a memorable tour, we are sorry to learn that the weather on the day made this a miserable experience. We do highlight in our itinerary that this will run rain or shine, and they will only be cancelled, if weather constitutes a dangerous situation. We also ask that travellers dress appropriately for seasonal weather conditions, given the tour operates in an open cart. Plastic screens would hinder views, but we do as you have said provide blankets. We are sorry the weather on that day of your tour was not ideal. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please reach out to our Customer Care team at customercare@intrepidtravel.com and one of the team will assist you.

We moved as a group of 4 to see a few DC monuments as the sun set on a pleasant August evening. Our guide, Dr. Cook, was funny, knowledgeable, and patient, and had something interesting to say about several points of interest in the city's National Mall and beyond. The tour included stops at the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, as well as a moment at the stirring memorial to MLK Jr. At each location, Dr. Cook articulated a historical overview of relevant moments in the lives of the people commemorated in these locations as well as facts about the construction processes of the monuments themselves. I honestly didn't expect to enjoy this experience as much as I did, but I felt that not only did I learn a great deal, I also developed a greater appreciation for the historicity of Washington DC.

Paul was our guide in the little roadster. There were 7 passengers plus Paul, and he used a little microphone amplifier so we could all hear him. The tour started at dusk and it was cooling off so it was a great time to be out seeing the monuments. There was just enough time for each of the stops (Jefferson, Lincoln, MLK, and White House). Definitely the best way to get all of the monuments in efficiently! Thank you Paul!

We had an incredible nighttime monument and memorial tour in DC with Chris B as our guide. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the entire experience fun for our whole family. His local insight and stories really brought the monuments to life, and he kept us all interested the entire time — even our 8-year-old loved it! Chris made sure everyone felt welcome and comfortable. Highly recommend him for a memorable DC tour!
