About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 370JimS3700 contributionsOne Grand DayWe had a great day on the Grand Island Tour, especially enjoyed the tour under the WW2 guns. Our driver obviously loves her job and RottnestIsland itself. Renee knew her stuff, and was eager to educate anyone listening. If you are planning to stay Rottnest Island, I would suggest doing this tour first, so you know what and where to see and do for the rest of your stay.Written 8 February 2025

- Seaside194063206620 contributionsFun in the SunRottnest Island was amazing! We hiked, cycled, and snorkeled, with everything easily booked online. The quokkas were adorable, and the island's restaurants were fantastic. Perfect for a special day with family, friends, or a partner. If you love the outdoors, it's the place to be.Written 20 January 2025
- heathersZ6142FI0 contributionsEnyoy the day - Weather perfectOnly issue is human tourists which you expect nowadays when some people who arrive later jump queue to be first on boat to get what they consider best seat. Actual trip over the water to Rottnest Island was very relaxing being provided with a very good verbal commentary on sights when goign past points of interest. Rottnest is a lovely little island with a places around that you can swim, snorkel but like all tourist attractions now getting very crowded especially during holiday periods. During daytime only see occassional quokas (I was lucky to get a photo), so if really want to see then plan to stay overnight. Plenty of tourises partaking of the bycicles/sedgeways with made it interested when the buses were showing other less active tourists around the island. REMINDER- You MUST take water with you and is limited on island.Written 18 January 2025
- S796AUcurtism0 contributionsDitch the TourTime management was poor. Only a few minutes to get out of the bus at a few stops. Would recommend just getting a bike and ditching the tour so you can spend time looking around.Written 14 January 2025
- TazTraveller150 contributionsTotally recommend! What an amazing day! Sealink ferries were on time and I loved the offer of icy poles for the crossing. The Luxe Seafood cruise was not super clear on where it left from but we found it and had a ball. The chef provided amazing small courses throughout the journey. The flavours were amazing. They even catered for people not eating seafood! We loved our swim and the floating mat when we anchored in calm waters, and appreciated the shark deterrent. Hauling up the lobster pots was made into a very fun activity where we could put our hand up to help. We learnt a lot about lobsters. The crew were amazing! Ti brought the energy and positivity all the way through, while being very alert to all potential issues and casually ensuring safety at all times e.g. making sure ropes were not going to catch anyone. She is incredible! The crew were always present to assist with anything we wanted, and provided lots of water, sunscreen etc to help keep us safe. Our captain was excellent and made us feel safe, while also being very fun. I can be a bit of an old Health and Safety worrier - but this crew were so fun while being so professional. Can't wait to save the money and go again!Written 12 January 2025
- Matt C0 contributionsExceptional Staff - Beyond AmazingI was on the ferry that departed at 4pm on 7th Jan from Rottnest to Fremantle, at the time of the tragic seaplane crash that occured. The crew were amazing. Many would have seen the accident happen, potentially known the pilot or people involved. They stepped up at the time, asking passengers to not take photos or use their phones, respecting the unfolding incident and the sensitivity of the situation; which I believe everyone did, it was amazing leadership from the crew, at a time of certain distress for many of them. They communicated to passengers in an extremely caring and understanding manner, suggesting that if anyone needs help to talk a little what had just happened, the services of lifeline and other such organisations are available. The care and professionalism was exceptional, the boat crew that day saw something nobody should experience, someone’s worst nightmare and last moments alive - yet they had the ferry’s passengers welfare in their minds the whole time - it’s really had an impact on me just how amazing they were. I can’t begin to express my deep thoughts and condolences for the crew on that day - they are very special people and I hope they are looking after themselves, and want to thank them for what they did on that trip. If anyone is headed to Rottnest - this company to travel with, they are genuinely caring and amazing people.Written 8 January 2025

- Discover441229171190 contributionsTrip to Rottnest. Our guests loved every bit of the day! The beauty of the island; its nature and beaches, the cute quokkas. The history was a sombre reminder of man’s inhumanity, the reparation road is right on track. The ferry trips gave them another view of the city. A memorable day for all.Written 5 January 2025
- gillyv20250 contributionsFab first visit to RottoGreat day trip to Rotto. Booked tickets on line day before departure. Travelled from Perth to Fremantle and got the 7:00am ferry as wanted to be there early. Didn’t end up hiring bikes as they were all booked out on line. But will def do this next time. Quick 30 min voyage. Spotted our first Quokkas and did our selfies when we first arrived as pretty quiet. . Ended up with 3 separate photo shoots during the day. Walked to the military section and explored the heritage sites. So much to learn about the part the Island had in the war etc. back to the settlement for lunch and refreshments at the pub. Such a lovely spot. Getting busy around lunch time as more people arriving on the ferries. after exploring the lighthouse section and beaches we left on the 2:30pm ferry as we wanted some time in Fremantle too. I think next time we will stay the night and get bikes. So much more to explore - but for our first trip it was amazing. Lovely beaches, lovely Quokkas. Only thing I was surprised at was some of the state of the houses in the settlement. Could do with a clean up!Written 4 January 2025

As an older couple, not into beaches and snorkelling (it was cold August after all!!) , this was the ideal trip for us. We caught the ferry over around 9am, had morning tea at the bakery, got our fill of Quokkas, caught the bus tour at 10.30. The bus tour was great and very informative and showed us exactly how big the island is. We had a few stops to take photos and a visit to the lighthouse. We had considered hiring bikes, but people don't realize how big and hilly the island is. We saw lots of abandoned bikes. After the bus tour, we wandered around the island, visited the museum and caught the 2.30 ferry back. Great staff on both ferry trips and a smooth and comfortable ride.

We found this to be an ideal way to visit Rottnest Island. Leaving from Fremantle we found the swell a little challenging but soon felt ok once back on land. All the crew were helpful and welcoming. Our included coach tour of the Island was excellent. Driving and commentary were outstanding and we had a good feel for the history and geography of the Island by the end of the tour. The highlight was the one stop where we alighted for about 20 minutes. This was at the western end if the island with its delightful cove, rugged cliffs and pristine beach. Truly a photographer's delight.
We took the 4-00 PM return ferry, giving us ample time for lunch in a restaurant and time to look around the settlement (and meet the quokkas). We'd certainly recommend travelling with Sealink to Rottnest and doing the Island tour.

Took the ferry from Fremantle to Rottnest island at 7:00 am. The ferry arrived early and left right on time so you need to be there ready for it. Also returned at 4:00 pm, again leaving right on time so the punctuality was appreciated.
Very comfortable trip and just half an hour. Didn’t have any interaction with the crew apart from boarding and disembarking but they were very friendly.

The ferry people were very good, no issues. We were told by the person selling us the tickets that we could get on a hop on hop off bus once on the island and that they come every 20 minutes. WRONG! The bus will only pick you up every 45 minutes and for the bus to complete one circuit is an hour. We arrived on the island at around 11.30 bus left at 12. Spoke to bus driver and then was told pick up every 45 minutes. They have quite a number of stops available but if you want to not have lunch there is no way you could even get one stop as well as the hour round trip. The bus driver did not inform us on anything about the island, only bus trip I have ever been on where this has happened. We were not allow to get off at the lighthouse nor two other beaches where a surf competition had been hel due to ‘packing up”, did not see anyone packing up. It is a rip off. However the waters of the island were magic as we whizzed past as was our lunch.note had to get back to the ferry by 4.00

Ferry trip was good . Saw nothing on the hop on hop off bus at Rottnest as it was packed like sardines . Stood up for first few stops , then as the seat I eventually got was on the left , I couldn’t see any coastline on the right due to a constant line of people standing up . We were afraid to get off where there were no facilities , for fear of not getting back on a bus , as there didn’t seem to be enough to cope with the number of people . Ended up staying at the stop before last just so we could get back to the ferry in time . Beach covered in seaweed not worth the visit .Disappointed .

The ferry was on time and well organised. It was an extremely busy Sunday. There are toilets and a cafe on board.
There are provisions for bikes, prams and scooters just mention them on booking.
It’s not cheap for a family for a half hour trip, but a good choice

The service is amazing. The departure and arrival times are on time, so If you have planned your trip in advance you’ll have e plenty of time to enjoy Rotto. The crew is always willing to help you and the vessel itself is completely comfy.

I know it was a busy time of year but the boat was jam packed. Not enough places to sit. The staff were not very vigilant in ensuring bags didnt take up a seat. Also children were sprawled over the seats and not giving up space for older people.
Glad it was a quick trip over.

Good morning alisonm3387,
Thank you for your feedback.
Rottnest is a beautiful island and understandably such a popular spot to visit all year round.
Our vessel, the Quokka 1, comfortably seats up to 400 passengers, so I am surprised to hear that you found the boat so crowded.
We would love to welcome you back another time, perhaps in the cooler months, when there are fewer visitors, but when there is still plenty to do and enjoy on the island.
Kind regards,
Kat

Sealink provide an excellent ferry service to Rottnest. Very happy to recommend to others. Great staff & clean vessels. Rottnest is great for a day trip or holiday. Recommend the 1 1/2 hour Bayseeker bus tour of the island.
