      Disappointed
To be completely honest I didn't really enjoy the day. We queued to get on board and I had downloaded the ticket as per instruction. Once ready to board it then turned out I needed the barcode from the original email instead of the ticket . As I couldn't get it on my phone due to not having WiFi I had to run back to the ticket office so that they could print it off for me. It was all quite stressful and I could have been asked when I checked in at the booking office if I had the barcode. I had previously enquired whether the company were offering passenger pick up in Fremantle. They said they weren't which is fair enough but I would have appreciated being told that we could get on the boat there rather than travelling to Elizabeth quay. We boarded and then stopped at Fremantle to change boats. It had something to do with the high tides and our tickets did provide us with travel from the city centre, which is perhaps why it wasn't mentioned. I was starting to feel a bit seasick by this time so really wanted as short a crossing as possible and it wouldn't have mattered to me if the river part of the journey was cut short. We finally arrived on the island and were allocated bikes, locks and helmets. They were good bikes though had no racks, bottle carriers or phone holders . Obviously this has nothing to do with the day's trip and the ferry but I found the island completely overcrowded and commercial. Such a shame as I expected it to be beautiful but quiet. We did manage to spot quite a bit of wildlife but this was well away from the main settlement. It seems many people catch the ferry over and then just crowd onto the nearest beach. I won't be in a hurry to go back.

This is the way to go
The 1 1/2 hour journey to Rotto from Perth seemed to go by quickly. Comfortable seats on the ferry and interesting commentary from the captain made the trip enjoyable. Collecting the bikes was quick and efficient. Be aware, there were no baskets on the bikes, so take a knapsack if you plan to carry items. They do provide helmets and bike locks. The bikes are sturdy and have gear shifts for those occasional uphills. Very nice way to see the island. The trip back to Perth departed on time. Glad we booked this experience!

      A must do trip!
Anyone heading to Perth should definitely check out Rottnest Island. It is absolutely beautiful. We went snorkelling at little salmon bay which was stunning! Some of the beaches are very quiet and perfect to spend some time on with your travelling group. We saw lots of quokkas. The best place to see them is by the main arrival and departure area. The ferry staff were great and friendly too! It takes about 90 minutes to get across on the ferry but it’s a pretty ride. The staff talk you through what is around which is interesting.

      Lovely day out to Rottnest
From the moment we got onto the ferry we were well looked after even an ice pop! On the island the team attended to our needs and made the day a pleasurable experience. I guess I would have allowed more getting off the bus to view the bays, but it would then have slowed down the whole process.

      Rottnest is popular tourism destination
Rottnest is a favorite island of mine since we took a ferry there. The trip from Fremantle is around 20 km (just over 12 miles). It's one of Western Australia's major and best-known tourism destinations. The island is surrounded by over 60 beaches. There are many activities that entertain visitors, including snorkeling in secret lagoons and renting a bike to cycle around the salt lakes. Checking out the wildlife is entertaining, including the famous quokkas, which are like mini kangaroos. One of the most notable events for Rottnest is the race from Fremantle to the island, which attracts 2,000 swimmers. Just how long you want to stay is up to you, but the trip to Rottnest is popular by ferry.

      One Grand Day
We had a great day on the Grand Island Tour, especially enjoyed the tour under the WW2 guns. Our driver obviously loves her job and RottnestIsland itself. Renee knew her stuff, and was eager to educate anyone listening. If you are planning to stay Rottnest Island, I would suggest doing this tour first, so you know what and where to see and do for the rest of your stay.

      Rottnest visit
This was a great tour for our middle age plus fam members to see the sites around the island. Everyone was friendly and it went perfectly to time. The ferry was easy to catch, clean, felt safe and efficient.

      Fun in the Sun
Rottnest Island was amazing! We hiked, cycled, and snorkeled, with everything easily booked online. The quokkas were adorable, and the island's restaurants were fantastic. Perfect for a special day with family, friends, or a partner. If you love the outdoors, it's the place to be.

Enyoy the day - Weather perfect
Only issue is human tourists which you expect nowadays when some people who arrive later jump queue to be first on boat to get what they consider best seat. Actual trip over the water to Rottnest Island was very relaxing being provided with a very good verbal commentary on sights when goign past points of interest. Rottnest is a lovely little island with a places around that you can swim, snorkel but like all tourist attractions now getting very crowded especially during holiday periods. During daytime only see occassional quokas (I was lucky to get a photo), so if really want to see then plan to stay overnight. Plenty of tourises partaking of the bycicles/sedgeways with made it interested when the buses were showing other less active tourists around the island. REMINDER- You MUST take water with you and is limited on island.

      Ditch the Tour
Time management was poor. Only a few minutes to get out of the bus at a few stops. Would recommend just getting a bike and ditching the tour so you can spend time looking around.

      Totally recommend!
What an amazing day! Sealink ferries were on time and I loved the offer of icy poles for the crossing. The Luxe Seafood cruise was not super clear on where it left from but we found it and had a ball. The chef provided amazing small courses throughout the journey. The flavours were amazing. They even catered for people not eating seafood! We loved our swim and the floating mat when we anchored in calm waters, and appreciated the shark deterrent. Hauling up the lobster pots was made into a very fun activity where we could put our hand up to help. We learnt a lot about lobsters. The crew were amazing! Ti brought the energy and positivity all the way through, while being very alert to all potential issues and casually ensuring safety at all times e.g. making sure ropes were not going to catch anyone. She is incredible! The crew were always present to assist with anything we wanted, and provided lots of water, sunscreen etc to help keep us safe. Our captain was excellent and made us feel safe, while also being very fun. I can be a bit of an old Health and Safety worrier - but this crew were so fun while being so professional. Can't wait to save the money and go again!

The 4 of us had booked the Swan River Cruise and Rottnest Island Ferry and Bus Tour on consecutive days. We got the weather perfect for both days.

The ferry is a comfortable 35min ride from Fremantle to the Island.

Be prepared, the Island gets lots of tourists.

We then took the bus tour around the island which was very informative. The driver gave us a running commentary while avoiding the numerous cyclists. In the summer season there can be up to 3000 cyclists on any one day.

We were taken past several outstanding beaches, past lighthouses and other interesting structures and scenery. We even saw a snake on the road which gave a couple of cyclists a fright.

My friend and I had last been on Rottnest 45years ago and at that time there was only 1 vehicle on the island and a bike rental place and very little else and Quokka everywhere, even on the wharf. Now there are resorts etc

We didn't see any until we finished the bus tour and I spotted some beneath a tree just before we entered the village.

We had lots of photos and the preverbal selfies were taken in various positions.

The history of the island is very interesting and the bus tour with Sealink Ferries is a must.

We considered both the Rottnest Express and Sealink but settled on Sealink because we were staying at Fremantle and we could get a ferry which left from and returned there. The Rottnest Express leaves from Perth and returns there with stopovers at Freo. Reviews had mentioned that, on busy days, people getting on the Rottnest Express at Freo sometimes had difficulty finding a seat on an already packed ferry. So, we booked for a Monday 10am departure and there was plenty of room on our ferry with window seats also plentiful. We noted that there was an enormous queue for the Rottnest Express which left just before us and that it was already pretty full when it arrived.
We were staying at BeFremantle at the marina so the walk to the ferry stop was a very pleasant 20 minutes along the coast and through the port historical area. On the walk back, we took a different route through the city past some bars and galleries.
The day was sunny but quite windy and the 30-minute ferry trip was exciting with spray covering the windows of the lower deck. We don't normally have a problem with seasickness but I was beginning to feel a bit queasy by the time we docked. We'd made the mistake of sitting with our backs to the bow of the ferry. On the return trip, the wind had really blown up and the spray was coming up over the windows of the upper deck. We'd made sure of facing the bow this time and had no problems with queasiness but I noticed that several passengers were looking crook and were anxiously clutching their paper bags.
We had a booking for the 90-minute Rottnest Express boat tour which departs at 11.15am from the ferry dock and our punctual arrival at the island gave us time to wander around a bit and get our bearings before embarking on that exhilarating but somewhat frightening trip in rough sea.
Knowing that we'd be pretty worn out after the 3 boat trips and quite a bit of walking, we'd booked for the 2.30pm return ferry and were very glad we did. At the time of booking, I was concerned that we might be leaving the island too early but, nothing felt rushed, including our lunch at The Lane Cafe. By the time we got back to our apartment, we were ready for a rest before heading off for our 6.15 dinner booking at Char Char.

Defintely recommend the trip from Fremantle to Rottnest Island, and Sealink were faultless. We booked bike hire at the time of booking the ferry tickets. The bikes are on board so really quick and easy once arriving at the island, then just handed them back before boarding the return ferry. The visit to the island was a great day!

Some scheduled trips from Fremantle for the next day were already showing as cancelled (strong winds) on Sealink's website, however the Perth departure was showing as available when booking the night prior. We wanted to do the Swan River cruise, so selected Perth as our departure and return point. However, upon checking my confirmation, I noticed that we were booked to depart from Fremantle, so went back into Sealink's booking system to change it back to Perth.

When we arrived at the Barrack Street ticket office at 8.00am, only then were we told that due to 'operational issues', the Swan River cruise sector was to be replaced by a bus transfer to Fremantle. I expect that this is the reason the booking system automatically scheduled us on a Fremantle departure when I booked the night before? While on the island, we received a message advising that the Fremantle to Perth sector of our return trip was also being replaced by bus.

The skipper handled the boat extremely well under difficult conditions and passenger safety was a priority. All of the staff on the boat were great, and even though it was a rough trip, they really looked after the passengers, some of them were quite unwell with seasickness.

Unless it is in a peak period where tickets are likely to sell out, I would not advise pre-booking, as tickets are non-refundable. After paying an additional $40pp for a Swan River cruise, you may find yourself instead boarding a cramped bus. If we knew when booking, we would have either purchased Fremantle tickets or travelled on the Rottnest Express waiting at the Barrack St jetty.

Hi An_Drea_Travels_333, Thank you for your time sending us a review. We are so sorry for all the inconveniences with the bus transfer and the confusion with the departure ferry location. We take all our customers' feedback seriously and will make room for improvement. Due to the bad weather and high tide recently, we have to use buses to transfer passengers to Fremantle. On a more positive note, we are glad that you've enjoyed the ferry ride and we'll commend the skipper for his professionalism and competence. We hope we can welcome you again travelling with SeaLink Rottnest. Kind Regards, Karen from SeaLink Reservations

Way better than I imagined. I looked for the cheapest ferry to Rottnest, not sure I found it because this trip was spectacular! The staff/crew on board were so friendly and kind. They went above and beyond on safety and hospitality. The boat itself was spacious and not cramped there were even tables for me to get a little work done during the trip. My favorite part was that the captain slowed down when he spotted whales and let the guests/passengers know to look out the windows and we might see them as well. I was thrilled with my experience on Sealink and would choose to travel with them again in a heartbeat!

The online booking process is excellent and was easily able to deal with a change I needed to make. Comms in the lead up to each journey was helpful and to the point.
The check-in and boarding processes were seamless and the journeys to and from the island smooth sailing. It was a nice touch that the captain brought the ferry to a near stop so we could check out a whale on the way out. Every single team member was friendly and keen to help.

The website says one price (for 4pm return, 7am start) but doesn’t work and the phone team don’t honour it = false advertising and I was told I was wrong despite screenshots. Female phone team pretty sassy and managed to get my email wrong without confirming, the result was a charge and no ticket. On the day I had to run around because I wasn’t emailed a ticket and at the office I was printed a ticket and told I would now get them emailed- instead I got two welcome to Rottnest maps and no tickets. Overall pretty poor customer service.

Very efficient , friendly staff, most helpful during the trip.
The boat is a large catamaran which helps to provide a smooth ride.
The captain steered an efficient course through the sea for passenger comfort and the trip was on time both ways.
Will definitely use this company again.
