Great experience, delicious food, knowledgeable and lovely tour guide
Nov. 2021 • Solo
This food tour was amazing and well worth the money. I had done a similar thing in Prague and been slightly disappointed with the amount offered, but this tour was completely the opposite, we kept thinking we were at the last stop only to remember that we still had more food to eat! Our tour guide was brilliant and clearly cared a lot about her work. She was really knowledgeable about the history of the dishes and also of Hungary in general.

Birthday trip to Budapest
I would give this tour 10 stars!!! It was amazing!!!! We had a tour with Andrea and she was fabulous! Started at Market Hall, we had shots of Unicom, salami/sausage tasting and a Langos! Then we walked to our wine tasting that was also a cheese pairing. Next was a local stop for lunch with multiple plates/bowls of hungarian traditional dishes!! And we finished with dessert and coffee in a beautiful cake shop! Andrea was so knowledgeable and just a wonderful guide. Throughout the walk she provided us with extensive history info. She even helped answer questions regarding other areas of interest... shopping suggestions! During our last stop we sat and chatted for much longer than scheduled. It was one of our best experiences in Budapest! I would highly recommend it.

My brothers and I were lucky enough to be paired with George. George is a Budapest local who has travelled the world, as well as living in multiple countries and being fluent in several languages.

We met in the Central Market and began are incredibly informative, very delicious trip through Hungarian culture. His memory of dates was impeccable and it was a really exciting way to learn about the construction fo the market and life in Budapest.

Every delicious thing we put in our mouth, always proceeded really useful information. The wine tasting at the end led by the incredible Sabi was amazing as well. In general I didn't realise that Hungary had such a rich diversity of food and wine available.

Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!
Dec. 2019
My hubby and I absolutely loved this tour - with our fabulous tour guide, Endre:) First we met up at Budapest's Central Market... AMAZING! Endre's knowledge of the market was simply the best - as we talked and tasted our way around some of the many delicious delights within the market. Next it was chocolate and a wonderful 'foodie' experience at a local 'Hungarian' restaurant. Then coffee and cake at the very exquisite Central Budapest Cafe. Stunning! And then to finish off.... we sampled some of the very 'best' Hungarian Wines at their Tasting Table... truly a wonderful day! Thanks Endre:)

Great tour if you have the time
Daniel was a great tour guide. His love for the food and history shines through. Tour started in the market and continued to a couple other stops. Just note that this will take up most of your day. Longer than you would expect but worth it.

Best tour we did in Budapest! In the footsteps of Anthony Bourdain
Nov. 2019
I LOVED this tour. Just like the show Parts Unknown, our guide helped us explore the beauty, culture, history, architecture and food of Budapest. This was my favorite thing we did in Budapest and we highly recommend it. Our guide was phenomenal! He was funny, brilliant and has such a kind heart. We went to the famous Belvarosi Disznotoros and ate blood sausage just like Anthony Bourdain! We explored the central market and ate at Langos where apparently Bourdain would go in the morning when he was in Budapest. We tried many different meats in the market and learned about everything from honey to truffle oil. We also sampled delicious strudel and Unicum - the drink of kings! We went to a chocolate shop - it was so yummy! And we had cake at a writers cafe - delicious; Then to a wine shop for a wine tasting with cheese. We saw famous book shops and mansions and bullet holes from the war. This wasn't just a food tour but a walking tour of a part of Budapest that I really fell in love with. I look back fondly on this as one of the best days! Thank you so much and please tell our guide (in the photos) THANK YOU!

Disappointing
My wife and I took this tour after reading all the positive reviews on TripAdvisor. We met Elsa our tour guide at the Central Market where we were joined by 5 other people for our group. We started with a local liquor along with a few samples of local appetizers at the market.
Elsa was great very enthusiastic and spoke of a lot of Hungarian history which was very interesting.
We left the market and walked to our lunch restaurant a very popular local place. Elsa got us a table which was way too small for 8 people. She brought out some local dishes- sausages, Turkey, Chicken and some side dishes. Way too congested to share. Food was average at best. We ended up at a wine cellar for out “tasting” which included 3 very very small tastes of red white and desert wine. For $90 per person very disappointing.

Thank you for letting us know about your disappointment. We always want to learn about our guests' experience and through their feedback! We have adjusted the starting time to 9:30am (half hour sooner) of our Culinary Walks ever since, to avoid the crowds at some of the favored stops. We still believe that the venues we have carefully chosen are presenting an authentic experience of Hungarian cuisine and culture. Elza, your guide is an absolute sweetheart we adore, so thank you for pointing out her devotion. Hope to be able to welcome you back one day and help you overcome that first impression.
