- 147lornal0 contributionsDidn’t show upArrived at the location stated on the email 20 minutes early. There were other tour providers there so we knew we were in the right place but White Umbrella never showed. I called them and got no answer. I also emailed them and a month later have still had no reply.Written 24 October 2024
- RalphE1790 contributionsWill never use againCompany confirmed the tour the day before. Arrived 15 minutes early. Tour guide never showed up. She even gave an insight of how her childhood experiences during the Communism times were vs. Prague today. Alot changed since then and Dana is happy to tell you all about it! Would recommend this to anyone. Tip big! Greets from The Netherlands.Written 7 January 2020
- dermochelys0 contributionsFree Tour of Prague Old Town & Jewish QuarterWe did this tour in the last day of 2019 with Michael as our guide. He was super friendly and knew a lot, combining old history facts with current fun facts of the town. Really nice guide and funny guide. He also gave us some recommendations of places to eat (and where not to eat) and other things we should check out. Definitely go on a tour with them!Written 5 January 2020

- Charl-Chelts0 contributionsPrague White Umbrella TourOur guide - wonderful lady - whose name I forget, was funny, knowledgeable, friendly and kept our group entertained for the 2.5/3hrs, the time just whizzed by. She was able to cover recent and medieval history flawlessly.Written 24 November 2019
- Annycelli0 contributionsGreat and funny tour through pragueWe had the tour around the centre of prague and the Jewish quarter with Micheal. It was really good and very interesting. He gave a overall view about Czech history and culture. The best thing about it was for sure the personal opinion on prague and Czech culture as he is not a local, but has been living her for over 2 years and is a studied historian ;). He also had a lot of recommendations for activities in and around prague. So if you do the tour with him on your first day you get quite a good amount of stuff to do for rest of your trip. And if you are interested in a vegan lifestyle, he also has inside information as his girlfriend is vegan :).Written 17 November 2019

My adult daughter and I were fortunate enough to take an Old Town tour with Marco. We found him through Trip Advisor when we were reading the reviews of White Umbrella Tours. I was somewhat hesitant to try a "free tour", what's the catch, I was thinking. Or you get what you pay for.
It was a tour to remember! Here's why:
Our guide Marco "made" the tour for us, and we enjoyed his style and knowledge so much that we signed up for another tour with him in the afternoon. He is a charming, delightful, genuine young scholar. Marco really knows Prague history, still being a student at some level, constantly expanding his knowledge base. He is a mesmerizing story-teller who made people and history come alive, no matter what he was describing. Not an easy thing to do.
A funny example:
Marco would weave a complicated story about a historical person filled with tons of interesting details. This would go on for about five minutes. We would be glued listening to him when he would quite suddenly, out of nowhere, say, "And then he died. Let's go!"
It might not sound funny as you read this, but it was quite hilarious as he said it very often during our day with him. It has become a joke between my daughter and me and an endearing, memorable part of trip.
There are not any fees for these tours unless there is an admission involved. It is just as the reviews say. You pay what you want at the end of the tour. We gave Marco $20 USD per person at the end, and we felt it was well-deserved.
I can only vouch for Marco's presentation and expertise, but I would definitely take another White Umbrella tour based on our experience in Prague with him. The guides work for free for the company, and they are paid by tips. There is a lot of competition for tours, including other free ones like this, so the guides really need to be engaging and know what they're saying.
Don't hesitate to give White Umbrella a chance. If you don't like your guide or the people in your group, you can walk away or not pay at the end. Hopefully you will be as pleased as we were.

On our visit to Prague we were lucky to join Zach on his tour of the Old Town, he was a great guide and told us they history of the Old Town and Jewish quarter and made it interesting too, I'm not usually into historical information but he kept your attention. We enjoyed the tour so much we joined Jose the following day on a tour to Mala Strana and Prague Castle. Jose too was a great guide giving us lots of information. We wouldn't have found out so much history a out Prague if we had followed guide books. Will certainly look out for similar tours when we visit other cities.

The umbrella tours are the walking tours where your guide will take you through the scenic and the most beautiful part of the old town of Prague including attractions such as the Palace, the square, the synagogue, the cathedrals, the chocolate factory while explaining everything you need to know in terms of its history and relevance.

Really enjoyed my walking tour with Vendula. She lived 10 years in London and her English is perfect. She even took time to explain terms to the non native English speakers with us .(e.g.swamp). We had the added difficulty of having to share our route with the Pride Parade which added some color and logistical issues but she handled it very well. I would highly recommend white umbrella tours for an overview of Prague and the Czech Republic.

Basilio took us firstly on a “free walking tour of the Prague Old Town laying the foundations of Prague’s history in a succinct yet informative manner. Second day we joined Basilio for the Castle tour which was more of a guided tour with less history and more facts. His approach ensured we saw all the appropriate highlights. Additionally Basilio provided local knowledge and advice which enhanced our stay in Prague.

We decided yesterday to do the Old City Tour after the positive comments on TripAdvisor. Marco was our guide and we enjoyed our experience so much that we signed up for the Castle Tour that same afternoon with him. Marco is very smart, funny and also very personable. His vast knowledge of Prague and its history whether cultural or political was an asset , he truly loves this city and it shows in his commentary. We have done a few free walking tours in our travels and Marco has been one of the best guides we had the pleasure of spending time with.

We had a great tour with Gary - a very knowledgeable, engaging and funny guide who took us through the caste and the surrounding area and gave us an excellent perspective of the history, architecture, and culture of the Czech Republic, Prague and the castle. Highly recommended!

We did the Prague castle tour with Gary from Ireland and he was great! We had a super small group so he tailored the tour to exactly what our group was interested in, so we all had a wonderful time! Lots of fun stories and we got a lot more out of the castle than we ever would have visiting alone. We would definitely recommend this tour and taking it with Gary!!

I've enjoyed the Free Walking and Prague Castle tours with our guide Gary, who was very knowledgeable on the Czech history and legends. Gary was entertaining, which made the 3 hour tour passed very quickly. Recommend to take both tours with Gary if in Prague and wear a very comfortable pair of walking shoes to be kind to your feet!
