Your tour begins with pickup from your central Prague hotel in time for a 10am departure. Follow your guide to Prague’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, passing through the grand Wenceslas Square en-route, then set out to explore the atmospheric Josefov Quarter — the former Jewish Town.
Listen as your guide explains the district’s long and tumultuous history, established in the 13th century and serving as a Jewish ghetto for over 600 years. Remarkably unscathed after WWII — Hitler had planned to preserve the area as a museum — the quarter remains one of the best preserved in Europe, and you’ll get chance to see its four beautiful synagogues, the Pinkas Synagogue, Klaus Synagogue, Spanish Synagogue, and Maisel Synagogue.
As well as admiring the old buildings and learning more about the area’s harrowing history, you’ll also visit the Old Jewish Cemetery, with its 12,000 tombstones and over 100,000 burial sites.
Your tour ends around 1pm in Prague’s Jewish Quarter.
