    What to Expect
Meet your guide in central Prague to Bohušovice nad Ohří, just north of the city. On route, hear how Terezin started life in the 18th century as an Austrian fortress before being converted by the Nazis during WWII into a Jewish deportation camp.

Arrive at Bohušovice station. Pause here to see the old sidings from where many Jewish people were transported onward, and then drive to Terezin’s Main Fortress.

Enter through the gate inscribed with the Nazi message arbeit macht frei or ‘work sets you free,’ and tour the buildings as an expert guide charts the atrocities that took place here.

View the barracks, crematorium, columbarium and SS camp headquarters, as well as other sites. As you look around, hear how the Nazis used Terezin as a show camp to dupe Red Cross observers into believing all was well, parading it has having everything from fake leisure facilities and shops to a theater.

Behind the facade, while Terezin did not preside over gas chambers or mass exterminations, the camp caused the deaths of many thousands of prisoners. Visit the poignant museum to trace the stories of some of the prisoners, view some of the drawings made by the children held here, and watch a Nazi propaganda film about the camp.

While the facts of what happened here are shocking and distressing, your guide will explain everything in a sensitive and considered way. After your visit, return to Bohušovice and ride the train or bus back to Prague. Your trip concludes at the railway station.

Our high school class took the guided tour to Terezin with Sarah. She is a very knowledgable and engaging guide. Both teachers and students learnt a lot on this trip. Definitely recommended!

It was a great experience. Our guide was amazing. He explained everything in detail, picturing the true and very hard life of those living there. He was very respectful and he cleared many misconceptions that Hollywood and rumors has created through the years. It was...More

My husband and I have visited several Concentration Camps over the years, but our trip to Terezin last week Wednesday was one for the books. While the Holocaust is heavy, the propaganda piece is a difficult addition. Sarah's delivery helped us understand that and we...More

Our group of four joined tour guide Lyle on this tour on 23September. Even though the subject of a concentration camp was a difficult one to share, Lyle did an excellent job. He was very knowledgeable and made the historical aspects of the Czech Republic...More

Definitely a very emotional tour. Well worth a visit. But I docked stars because our guide was not knowledgeable at all. It’s as though he memorized fact sheets and could not answer any other questions about the memorial, the country, the people....nothing. He was an...More

There is quite a bit of walking including stairs at one of the stops. I'm not sure if there was an elevator but I did not recall seeing one. I would definitely contact the tour company directly prior to booking. Also... More

It is not far from Charles bridge. You drive an hour or so out of town. There is lots of waking at the camp. You take the bus back later in the afternoon around 4:30
