Meeting by the lakes edge outside the historic Conjola Post Office & Shop, the route for this guided eco-walk includes lakeside, bush and beach. You'll see an abundance of wildlife including native birds and kangaroos and enjoy stunning vistas from 3 different look-out points. Leaving the beach via a walk over sand dunes - looking out for bird and animal tracks & seasonal plants - we follow the lake edge back to finish near Conjola Entrance boat ramp, with views over to Conjola National Park.

      Supporting a great local business
Our organisation wanted to give back to the communities affected by the awful fires that occurred in early 2020. What better way than joining Conjola Tours to explore this corner of paradise and learn about both the local history and ecology of the area. They were so accommodating, keeping not only a group of adults interested but engaging with three children in the party, one of who had a disability. If you are after a leisurely stroll and want to learn a bit more about this area this is a great option. I also encourage everyone to support the numerous small businesses in this area that need our support, even more since the double hit of fires and travel restrictions.

      Lovely relaxing walk
A lovely and informative walk. I was lucky to be the only customer that day and the weather was great. Very knowledgeable and professional people I would recommend this walk to anyone who is interested in the flora & fauna, we were lucky to see a mob of about 20 kangaroos lazing in the camping ground, which was a real bonus. Connecting with the sea and sand
Like an earlier review, we also had 3 generations in our group and the tour was perfect for all of us (9 & 11 year old through to 78). I loved how each of us got something different from the morning. We'd expected 1 1/2 hours but it was more like 2 - and we hardly noticed the time go by. Learning about the ecology (and geography) of this area was so interesting. I really appreciated that there while there was a lot of information available, it didn't ever feel like overload. Thanks so much Mel and Joe.

A brilliant activity for all the family
Our tour of Lake Conjola with Mel and Joe from Conjola Tours was the highlight of our Easter long weekend. The 2 hour tour appealed to everyone in our large group which consisted of 3 generations of the same family ranging in age from 4 y.o to 78 y.o. Our wonderful guides generously shared their love and knowledge of the beautiful Lake Conjola and the awe-inspiring Conjola Beach. The tour consists of a guided walk and talk along the shores of the lake, a beautiful, short bushwalk along the boardwalk to the beach and then time on the wild and expansive Conjola Beach with amazing views of the mythical Green Island. On the tour we had time to amble, to ask questions and take lots of photos of kangaroos, pelicans and the (in)famous thong tree, etc. The kids were so engaged and listened intently to Mel when she talked about the fragile existence of the shorebirds and the challenges facing our marine environments. The tour connected us all and really made the kids think. After the brilliant, informative, relaxing tour we didn't want to leave so we stayed on to have lunch and had the BEST EVER fish and chips at the Conjola Post office. A perfect morning out which we rounded off with a swim in the lake. I really recommend doing this tour as part of a wonderful day out at Lake Conjola. For visitors to the area the tour provides an authentic point of connection and a great introduction to the area.

      Kangaroos, Birds, Scenery and Stories
This was my first visit to the Lake Conjola area, and my tour with guide Melinda of Conjola Tours really opened my eyes to the understated beauty of the area. It was possible to get up close to the abundant wildlife: kangaroos, pelicans, parrots and all kinds of birds. The stories give another layer of perspective for a visitor, adding to our understanding of the history of the area and the natural environment. Plus a lovely cup of tea at the end. A recommended way to see more of the South Coast.

Great short walking tour at Conjola Lake and beach. We have never been to the area before and the tour was full of insights into local flora and fauna, history of the area and much more.
The guides Mel and Joe are locals who are very easy going and share their wealth of knowledge about the region.

The tour is run Covid safe (we were just 2 persons on the tour and there is a Covid safe check-in procedure etc.).

The area is great to spend the rest of the day there, we explored nearby beaches and can highly recommend to take the time after the tour to explore a bit further or relax at the beach.

We loved this guided walk with Melinda and Hohepa - it was so interesting and we learned heaps. It is such a beautiful area and it was great to have firsthand input from locals about the fires and also the work done by local environmental groups. We learned about trees, middens and aboriginals, fish, snakes, bush tucker, and lots more! This was besides traversing interesting conversations about Australian culture and some of the parallels between and differences from New Zealand. Their previous experience in the national museum of NZ showed, along with much learning and wisdom. They were on time and good communicators - in fact Melinda put on a tour specially so we could go on one before we left the area.

We had a great day joining this walking sightseeing tour in Conlola. Melinda & Joe are a very friendly person and experience tour guide, they did tell us lots of happening in the local area, this tour takes us almost 90 minutes to complete. We all 12 people had a great time there and take lots of photos.
(Tips - For the toilet location is near the Caravan Park from the meeting place or 3 minutes walk to nearby Tennis Courts) As the Fish & Chip shop owners will not be allowed visitors to use it.

Our favourite part was the history of the area next was learning more about the local fauna and flora. When we asked questions they answered everything. Joe and Belinda are very easy going and delightful to just chat with. My advice for people going on this tour is taking binoculars for sure.
