A Day of Wine, Scenery, and Fun - For a first timer
Took the full day Barossa valley tour on 30 Dec. Deep was a lovely , knowledgeable and funny guide and he drove us around beautifully as well . We stopped at 5 places overall and had the most amazing day and sampled almost 28 wines along the day , with a nice lunch thrown in as well. You are picked up at 8:30/9 in the city and reach by about 6 pm or a bit . 1. Kersbrook Hill - Lovely wines and a great host 2. Maggie Beers Farm - a good stop for quick shopping , farm tour and pictures 3. Chateau Dorrein - Tasted Meads 4. Kies - This is where we had lunch before our tasting - they do a good job in collecting orders from a set menu - Veg options are available , food is part of your package , drinks are extra . Wines were ok 5. Chateau Tanunda - Classy and premium place . Overall a wonderful experience . The van transport is also nice , we are not more than 25/30 people and it makes for lovely company getting to know many others as well . The tour ends in Glenelg usually , so would make sense to get dropped off there and enjoy the sunset and dinner at the beach before heading back to Adelaide city if that is where you stay . Highly recommended - even for first time wine tasters .

      Great 1/2 day Tour
Great trip to get a feel for where everything is around Adelaide city. Hahndorf was a lovely little town. We spent 2 hours there and that was long enough to see most things. Great value for money and Deep was a very friendly and engaging tour guide.

      Well organised tour
Had a great day visiting some fabulous cellar doors - Kersbrook Hill, Kies, Maggie Beer Foundation, Chateau Dorrien, and Chateau Tanunda. The wine tasting was free and the trip included a nice meal at the Monkey Nut Cafe. Perry, the guide kept us entertained and he knows his trade well.

Super tour of Adelaide and surrounding area
My wife and I took a full-day tour of Adelaide and the surrounding areas with Roger Brock from Ambler Touring. Roger grew up in the Adelaide area and provided a lot of very interesting background. He personalized the tour to match our interests including a visit and tasting at one very interesting winery, d’Arenberg’s. This winery’s tasting facility is shaped like a Rubik’s Cube with some very unusual art. We picked up a couple of bottles. We roamed the countryside visiting Mount Lofty, the Malaren Vale, and Hahndorf. His car was spotless and very comfortable. Roger was quite the historian and seemed to know people at every stop. One super stop was to the Woodside Cheese Wrights. We tasted some award-winning cheeses and bought some to take back to our place. We have been to many countries and taken lots of tours. Roger’s was the best. We highly recommend him.

A perfect day touring wineries with Bum on Seats & Parry.
Highly recommend this tour and company. The whole family enjoyed out winery tour. Our driver/tour guide Parry, was amazing. He made the tour extra memorable. The wineries we went to were all amazing but my favorite was Sew & Sew, a lovely small boutique winery. We also had a very special visit to Graham Stevens winery which has been sold. Graham was a delight and his wines are highly awarded. A lovely and well respected wine maker in SA. This tour is a must. You will not be disappointed with Bums on Seats tours as they cater for small and big groups. Thank you Parry for a perfect day!

      Amazing Day!!
Anil was amazing!! We told him what we wanted to see and he made sure we saw everything and more. He was very knowledgeable on the history of the areas. We had an elderly passenger with mobility issues and Anil went out of his way to ensure he was ok and could access everything. He was kind, patient and could not do enough for us. Thank you so much bums on seats. We would recommend your service time and again. Thank you Anil for a perfect day! The Gold Coasters

Our first time in the Barossa.
The trip to the Barossa Valley Wineries was excellent. Our tour driver was knowledgeable and looked after us well. The variety of wineries gave us an excellent introduction into the Barossa and what it has to offer. Highly recommend this trip.

Great day in the Adelaide region
A great day to see lots of the Adelaide area with a knowledgeable and friendly guide/driver with a tasty lunch included. The driver’s insight meant we got the most out of it. Thoroughly recommend! Stops included Mt Lofty, Hahndorf, the mouth of the Murray, Victor Harbor and a stop at d’Arenberg wines in McLaren Vale.

      It was a good tour
The car was comfortable and the guide was very friendly and helpful. If you were easy to get a carsickness, you might need to take anti-sickness medication. It was quite cold along the coast, so a jacket would be essential even in summer. Also, if you have plans after the tour, it is advisable to allow plenty of time.

We all behaved in with our bums on seat bus! Fun and good memory of excursion
We selected this excursion as we arrived on Port with ovation of the sea cruise, and our driver is parked just as you come off the port terminal. Driver went through the city and the whole trip he was very informative with what we were seeing . The bus was full and the trip was good . I m not the best passenger in a car or bus ,but he drove safely and slow which I liked . We visited the German little town handhorf, and the whole street both side is full of shops. It has cafes , pubs , lots of food and many variety shops . If you want to buy a cookoo clock ,one shop has so many various styles to buy . Great little town to visit. Our last stop before returning to Port was (Beerenberg) where you can pick your own strawberry ( but we did not have time for this, but lots of jams to buy. I bought 2 jars of fig and cinnamon jam . Yum! We really enjoyed the whole experience ,thank you to our driver for making it a memorable day. Veronique

      Private tour of the Barossa
A fabulous full day trip from the cruise ship. We were a party of 4 adults. Our car was a late model Kia Carnival with complementary water and tissues. Our driver Amit was a great driver and friendly. I had picked a number of stops (Whispering Wall, Mengler’s Hill Lookout and Sculpture Park, Barossa Chocolate Factory, Perennial Gardens, Delikatessen, with bonus stops at Seppeltsfield jam factory, and Chateau Tanunda as we had extra time up our sleeves). Bums on Seat were good to deal with and easy to contact.

We booked a day tour on Sunday 14 July 2024. Even thought we booked only on Saturday afternoon but we still lucky to have spots for there of us. Parry picked us up at our place. Parry is a knowledgeable tour guide who drives safely give information through the tour. All the paved that we went to are wonderful. We really enjoy the tour and strongly recommend to anyone new in Adelaide and want to explore the city in a short time. We also enjoyed our wine testing that included in the tour bought home some lovely wines.

I received a text message the day prior to our planned day tour, confirming our
pre organized pickup from The Haven Marina in Glenelg. Both Pick up & drop off ran very smoothly. The bus driver, Ash was very friendly & our small tour bus was air conditioned and quite comfortable.

The tour itself was very well organized, great value for money and ran to schedule. The bus driver also had plenty of bottled water on board for anyone wanting a fresh drink along the way.

Being our first time to Adelaide and South Australia as a whole, we chose this particular tour as we wanted to see the Barossa Valley & were keen to visit Hahndorf after hearing so many good things about this quaint little town.
We also didn't want to spend the entire day just bus hopping from winery to winery.

We visited 2 wineries, the second of which lunch was supplied, included in our initial ticket price and comprised of your own choice from a good menu option given.
Water is included with the meal, and understandably alcoholic beverages or soda is also available but at your own cost.

We also went to Maggie Beer Farm, the Barossa chocolate factory and then had an hour to browse and shop in the gorgeous small town of Hahndorf which
was definitely everything we had anticipated and more.
We could have easily spent a whole day here.

I would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to take in a relaxing full day tour around the Barossa Valley area. Well worth the bus trip if your happy to only do
2 winery stops and drink as many samples as you wish with the convenience of being picked up and dropped off at your Adelaide accommodation.
It's also a great way to see the Adelaide countryside and surrounds without the hassle of driving yourself.

Thank you to our driver Ash and to the Bums on Seats Company. we had an awesome day.

Great day out and well worth it. However noone on our bus was actually collected from their own accommodation as advertised or expected. We had a short walk to an alternate location. Despite this, it is a lovely daytrip and represents good value.

A group of 4 paid$676 to be crammed into a 'not fit for purpose' mini van.
First of all, it's advertised as a max of 10. There were 12 adults on the tour bus - no not a bus- a very worn van operated by Bums on Seats. We (4 of us) are in our 60's and 70's and were cramped in the tiny back seats with a wheel arch intruding on leg space. Of course the younger passengers (20's) didn't offer to give us a break by rotating seats at stops. Be aware that after Maggie Beer, the chocolate shop, Chateau Tanunda (great winery! and generous tastings) and the winery for lunch, there is at least an hours drive on VERY winding roads (I'm talking hair pin bends) through the countryside to get to Hahndorf.
Secondly, the driver drove the van way too dangerously, dodging in and out of traffic at 110+km on the expressway in VERY high wind. We overtook nearly every other car on the freeway, so he was definitely over the speed limit. I was thrown around in the back and hit my head a few times on the window. He would change down gears and speed up to pass cars the were cruising on the speed limit. The van was lurching from side to side constantly, and bouncing and rattling on the uneven road surfaces. At the first stop I felt I had to tell him to slow down! He insisted he was driving a t 90!!!!! and it was just the wind. So I kindly pointed out that I was uncomfortable with the speed, feeling anxious and that if the winds were high he should adjust the speed accordingly.
Thirdly, our tour seemed rushed all the way, with not enough time in any of the locations, except the winery for lunch, which was pretty ordinary considering the price of the tour. We were given a menu in the bus - fish and chips, pie and chips, filo pastry and chips, chicken and chips (all included a salad) - far from gourmet as you'd expect when visiting the Adelaide Hills! Hahndorf was particularly rushed (there's a lot to see there). We only had about 45 minutes to explore a small section of the very long street of shops and food stores - no time to visit the beer hall. It really wasn't worth the hectic hours drive clinging to the handle of the seat in front and praying that we get there safely!!!!
We noticed 2 or 3 other Bums on Seats tours at the same locations, however the passengers were in sparkling new Mercedes mini-vans! Honestly, if we'd known we were going to be rushed around travelling in a death trap, we would have hired a comfortable car for the 4 of us AND stopped for a relaxing lunch at Maggie's for less than we paid.

Probably would have liked to try at least 1 more winery and also have more time at Hansdorf. Thought we would at least get coffee included in the price at Maggie Beers also we all thought we were having lunch at a winery not a very basic cafe. Pretty disappointing all round.

    A great day out.
The wine tasting was educational and enjoyable. The guides had interesting anecdotes to share.
Lunch was good, and Maddy's humour got everyone involved. He even managed a joke when the minibus was down to a crawl due to heavy rain and hail.
Hahndorf looked quaint; hopefully, we'll have to visit again when the sun is out.

My sister and I recently went on a Barossa Valley tour guided by the hilariously entertaining Maddy. The entire day of activities were fantastic, and far exceeded our expectations. Maddy made the drive between wine tastings so engaging with interesting facts about Adelaide, plenty of jokes and anecdotes that brought our bus full of strangers together. We highly recommend a Bums on Seats tour!

Not sure it was worth the money to be honest.
Picked up at 8:40, first drop of wine at 12:10pm.

I do not recommend adding the coffee and cake as you then miss out on walking around Hahndorf.

Of the expected 4-5 wineries - We went to 3, kersbrook, kies and twin valley estate. We also didn’t get to go to Maggie Beers as if we went we would have only gone to two wineries.
Afterwards, after mentioning we had only had 3 wineries, we got offered the seppisfield and penfolds winery, at our own cost. We decided against as it was 5pm by then.

No one was late, we were there early. I can’t see why this was so unorganised. The driver kept forgetting that certain places were closed so we would rock up and then leave.

The driver (Bob) stopped to tell a story at one point and waited for a person to get off the phone. Like just continue on.

Paul called me multiple times when he couldn’t get a hold of Bob.
Bob was friendly but would recommend for an older group rather than 30year olds.

I have been on previous trips with Bums On Seats and had been so excited to do it again with different visitors to Adelaide. However this was not like our previous tour.
Like Bob would constantly remind us - things used to be better here.

Hello Anna Thanks for your one star review :) Anna you forgot to tell everybody that YOU booked the wrong tour ?? As the brochure clearly says : Hahndorf/Barossa 1 hour in Hahndorf Coffee & Cake optional? 2-3 wineries So you were offered another winery instead of Maggie’s ?? You owe us ?? The fact that you got offered another winery at your cost would have been a bonus and on Bob’s time I rang you once with an important message for bob as I new he was driving and oops sorry rang you twice by mistake while trying to reach other customers.. you forgot to tell everyone how long you were at lunch ?? I think for those who require more alcohol please choose: Barossa Food & wine 4-5 & lunch & Maggie’s Ps I think you were a little hard on bob and I’m not showing this to him because it would break his heart Paul BumsOnSeatsTours

Maddy our guide was excellent. We enjoyed the tour but felt that it was rushed - less time at each location than the Get your guide itinerary.
We think that the tour would be better with one less stop - maybe at the chocolate 'factory'/shop. Also, the main reason for it being rushed was because there was a miscommunication about a group of 6 people who were on a cruise ship so it was nearly 2 hours from the pick up time for us in Glenelg to the first stop Maggie Beer's. It would have been better if the 6 cruise passengers had been on a private tour. We were also expecting max of 10 people but there were 12 on our minibus.
Cannot fault Maddy though as a tour guide as he was very informative and timing wise kept us on track. It was arranged that the cruise passengers were picked up in Hahndorf as they were on a time constraint. This was good as it gave us a bit longer and Maddy managed to throw in a surprise drive to Mount Lofty.

Thank you for your review and for highlighting both the positive and negative aspects of your tour with Maddy. We appreciate your kind words about him – he's a fantastic guide! We take all feedback seriously and will certainly consider adjusting the itinerary to allow for more time at each location. We agree that one less stop could be beneficial, and we'll explore options like excluding the chocolate shop. Regarding the cruise ship passengers, we apologize for the miscommunication that caused a delay. We're always working to improve our coordination, and ideally, these passengers would have been on a separate tour. We appreciate your understanding and hope you'll consider Bums on Seats again in the future!

The stops were all very nice. The staff at each stop was welcoming. Meals at Kies were all well presented and the pie we had was delicious. Lilly who served us at the wine tasting at Kies was very knowledgeable friendly and helpful. This very positive experience. The bus travel was very comfortable and having the smaller group size of 8 people made the day enjoyable.
