          Paul ! Not Adelaide.
Not the experience we signed up for . Twenty minute whip around Adelaide before we had to collect a full day tour experience - they decided to combine both trips. Off to Hahndorf-cakes in a pub that we didn’t know were part of the tour(irony is because we hadn’t signed up for it , we would have to pay). Two hour aimless walk around Hahndorf . Beautiful place but half an hour would have been adequate. Then lunch back at the same place - again not part of our tour . We then went to Mount Lofty - not the tour operator’s fault but it was cloudy and he was reluctant to take us there .Then we could have gone to a strawberry farm. Why? The guide himself , Paul, obviously thought he was very funny. Nobody else did ! If you asked a question he would reply “ I’m a tour operator not a historian!” or “I’m not educated “. His narration of Adelaide history was narrated in a tone of “I’ve done it so many times before”. Before we went to Adelaide we were in Perth and now in Melbourne . Both city tours and surrounding areas have been excellent . Paul questioned what else we would have wanted- we said maybe stopping for photos in Adelaide . His response was”we are not a walking tour” . Strange that we had to walk in Hahndorf for two hours and would have had to walk around a strawberry farm while the guide , no doubt, had free time. At first this excursion really put me off Adelaide . Fortunately we had some very successful trips thereafter. I’m sure he’ll have a rude rebuttal of my comments,as he has with others that have dared to complain ! It really wasn’t the best start to Adelaide.

          Amazing tour!
Amazing experience! We got to try over 25 wines at the different locations and had a really good lunch! Definitely exceeded my expectations. 100% would recommend if you’re in the area😍 I also found that the prices were very reasonable at the wineries!

A Day of Wine, Scenery, and Fun - For a first timer
Took the full day Barossa valley tour on 30 Dec. Deep was a lovely , knowledgeable and funny guide and he drove us around beautifully as well . We stopped at 5 places overall and had the most amazing day and sampled almost 28 wines along the day , with a nice lunch thrown in as well. You are picked up at 8:30/9 in the city and reach by about 6 pm or a bit . 1. Kersbrook Hill - Lovely wines and a great host 2. Maggie Beers Farm - a good stop for quick shopping , farm tour and pictures 3. Chateau Dorrein - Tasted Meads 4. Kies - This is where we had lunch before our tasting - they do a good job in collecting orders from a set menu - Veg options are available , food is part of your package , drinks are extra . Wines were ok 5. Chateau Tanunda - Classy and premium place . Overall a wonderful experience . The van transport is also nice , we are not more than 25/30 people and it makes for lovely company getting to know many others as well . The tour ends in Glenelg usually , so would make sense to get dropped off there and enjoy the sunset and dinner at the beach before heading back to Adelaide city if that is where you stay . Highly recommended - even for first time wine tasters .

          Great 1/2 day Tour
Great trip to get a feel for where everything is around Adelaide city. Hahndorf was a lovely little town. We spent 2 hours there and that was long enough to see most things. Great value for money and Deep was a very friendly and engaging tour guide.

          A must-see when visiting Adelaide.
What a beautiful day out. Our guide Deep was very informative. Each stop was different and provided a different "flavour" of the Barossa. A stand out was the visit to Hahndorf. What a beautiful town.

          Well organised tour
Had a great day visiting some fabulous cellar doors - Kersbrook Hill, Kies, Maggie Beer Foundation, Chateau Dorrien, and Chateau Tanunda. The wine tasting was free and the trip included a nice meal at the Monkey Nut Cafe. Perry, the guide kept us entertained and he knows his trade well.

Super tour of Adelaide and surrounding area
My wife and I took a full-day tour of Adelaide and the surrounding areas with Roger Brock from Ambler Touring. Roger grew up in the Adelaide area and provided a lot of very interesting background. He personalized the tour to match our interests including a visit and tasting at one very interesting winery, d’Arenberg’s. This winery’s tasting facility is shaped like a Rubik’s Cube with some very unusual art. We picked up a couple of bottles. We roamed the countryside visiting Mount Lofty, the Malaren Vale, and Hahndorf. His car was spotless and very comfortable. Roger was quite the historian and seemed to know people at every stop. One super stop was to the Woodside Cheese Wrights. We tasted some award-winning cheeses and bought some to take back to our place. We have been to many countries and taken lots of tours. Roger’s was the best. We highly recommend him.

          Wine and Waffles
Fabulous way to see as much of Barossa Valley AND Hahndhorf. Maggie Beer's Farm Shop is a quaint first stop for brekky to load up for some wine. Both Château Tanunda and Kies Family Winery presented their top-tier wine for tasting. The final perusal through Hahndorf was a nice taster as 1 hour gives you plenty to see if you're not going to shop, but I recommend coming back after the tour if you really want to spend more time in the village.

          Excellent tour
Great tour. Deep, the tour guide, was full of information and was amusing. Each winery was interesting and different. Maggie Beers farm was great, as was the chocolate factory. Hahndorf was delightful as always, but very busy. All in all, a great tour showcasing a little of South Australia.

A perfect day touring wineries with Bum on Seats & Parry.
Highly recommend this tour and company. The whole family enjoyed out winery tour. Our driver/tour guide Parry, was amazing. He made the tour extra memorable. The wineries we went to were all amazing but my favorite was Sew & Sew, a lovely small boutique winery. We also had a very special visit to Graham Stevens winery which has been sold. Graham was a delight and his wines are highly awarded. A lovely and well respected wine maker in SA. This tour is a must. You will not be disappointed with Bums on Seats tours as they cater for small and big groups. Thank you Parry for a perfect day!

          Amazing Day!!
Anil was amazing!! We told him what we wanted to see and he made sure we saw everything and more. He was very knowledgeable on the history of the areas. We had an elderly passenger with mobility issues and Anil went out of his way to ensure he was ok and could access everything. He was kind, patient and could not do enough for us. Thank you so much bums on seats. We would recommend your service time and again. Thank you Anil for a perfect day! The Gold Coasters

          Simply the best
We couldn't have chosen a better tour than the Barossa Valley and Handorf Tour - Great guide (Pete). Great wine. Great food. With two senior couples on board Pete was very friendly and considerate. He kept us well informed about the places we were visiting and we enjoyed the friendly banter.

Geerd gave great commentary with humor and good knowledge. We enjoyed the whole itinerary: attractions, scenery, photo stops, food stops etc. Only downside, 13 seater bus back seat and tight suspension gave a lumpy ride on SA crap roads.

This is probably the best tour we found for people who are not into wine. Stopped by Mount Lofty, then onto Hahndorf for an hour, then Goolwa briefly, then Victor Harbor for lunch. If you want to avoid the horse-tram costs and walk to Granite island, I recommend taking the time into account as the lunch lines at the eateries in the school holidays were pretty long. We stopped by the D'Arenberg cube - I paid to go inside but its not that suitable for kids as the exhibits are rather bizarre.

The tour is a great way to sample the few attractions of Adelaide that is a drive out of the city centre.
Thoroughly enjoyed the commentary as we were driving down the highway by Manny.
Manny is incredibly knowledgeable of the area and shared with us small details like the penalty of a truck driving on the right lane, or the tank in McLaren Vale.

But a review for the "The d'Arenberg Cube".

It was extremely chaotic from the purchase of our entrance ticket, to sitting us for the wine tasting. When our group of 11 went upstairs for the experience, we were split up and some other guests even got started with the wrong wine tasting package that wasnt meant for us.

My partner and I had to look for a staff member (who was not easy to get hold of) to tell them we were from Bums on Seats. They were dismissive to us at the first few attempts because they assumed we were from a prior tour group. (There were 2 Bums On Seats group there)
After a few attempts we finally got a table, and my partner and two other guests went around finding the remaining tour group to get seated.

Other than that, I highly recommend the tour and Manny for taking us around and showing us Hahndorf, Victor Habor and Goola

No expert guide as advertised, driver left out an entire portion of the itinerary without consultation, times at stops were cut short. Little to no information or commentary shared, and there were episodes of blatantly unsafe driving. When given feedback, company manager called us liars seeking a refund, and refused. Was booked through Get your Guide who refunded 50% of the cost and apologised for the experience. Do not book this company

Itinerary and places we visited was fine, but tour guide (Paul) and transportation conditions were poor and since no food or activities were included, that’s really what we paid for.

        (1) Condition of Transportation - The guide brought his 2 grandchildren onto the tour, and we were extremely cramped in the mini bus, with 4 adults in the back seat tightly packed against each other. While his 2 grandchildren comfortably occupied 2 seats in the front. He did at one point offer to swap his grand daughter onto the back row, but we didn’t want to be cramped against a stranger who wasn’t wearing a mask.

We were so hot and cramped in the back, with no windows, we had to request the air conditioning to be turned up multiple times. In the current Covid climate, the conditions were unacceptable.

        (2) Guide behavior - At the start of the tour he explained why he and his grandchildren weren’t wearing a mask. But then he suggested passengers did not need to wear masks if they didn’t want to. In the current Covid climate, the local rules, and the confined space we were in, that is simply irresponsible.

There were multiple occasions of racist and sexist jokes made which I found offensive.

The itinerary was meant to have 6 stops, after the 4th stop the wine tasting, he didn’t even explain it, he just said ‘hope u enjoyed your day, this is the end of the tour’!

Then he tried to tell us we should all go to Glenelg to visit the beach, and catch a tram back into the city! But only if we all voted for it…. It was so obvious it was an attempt to drop us off near his home, so he didn’t need to drop us all off at our hotels in the city.

When some of us voted against that, he then requested for a detour to drop the kids off home first. Which I actually didn’t mind, but the whole process was just very unprofessional.

        (3) Wine Tasting - before the wine tasting, he asked if everyone wanted to drink wine because there may not be seats to fit us all in! And if there are no seats, some of us won’t get to do the wine tasting.

I was very shocked that the wine tasting seats for the tour were not pre booked!

As I said, what we paid for on this tour was the transportation and the guide. The transportation condition was appalling and the guide was unprofessional.

Not true … 1/ my Grand Children 2 x 11 & 15 were in uniform and were training to run the BUMSONSEATS in the future.. everyone was offered their requested seats first. You were of bigger build and I offered you if you would like to sit in the front seat with me which you refused PS I haven’t seen my grand kids in two Sorry I brought them with me because I couldn’t afford to have a day off with them .. We were so hot and cramped in the back, with no windows, we had to request the air conditioning to be turned up multiple times. In the current Covid climate, the conditions were unacceptable. Well you had windows but they don’t open BUT not once on the day did you say anything to were I could have rearranged things to make YOU happy (2) Guide behavior - At the start of the tour he explained why he and his grandchildren weren’t wearing a mask. But then he suggested passengers did not need to wear masks if they didn’t want to. In the current Covid climate, the local rules, and the confined space we were in, that is simply irresponsible. Elly is 11 and doesn’t need to wear a mask and William has health reasons and is exempt.. That’s makes perfect sense that you have to wear a mask to sit next to someone on my bus but when you are the same distance at a table drinking wine it’s ok for you to drink with eat with talk with anyone at the same distance are you are on the bus ??? As I said if you all agree to not wear your masks ?? You are being recorded you can alll agree between you all if one person is not happy then you all wear them all day ?? I see in the video you had yours off on the way home ?? There were multiple occasions of racist and sexist jokes made which I found offensive. Lie I’m not racist I’m married to a black Women and I don’t tell offensive jokes in front of my grand kids Gee you were having a bid day hey ?? The itinerary was meant to have 6 stops, after the 4th stop the wine tasting, he didn’t even explain it, he just said ‘hope u enjoyed your day, this is the end of the tour’! Then he tried to tell us we should all go to Glenelg to visit the beach, and catch a tram back into the city! But only if we all voted for it…. It was so obvious it was an attempt to drop us off near his home, so he didn’t need to drop us all off at our hotels in the city. Nope don’t live near the beach ?? Years of experience after I take people back to the city they say “what’s the best way to get to Glenelg?? So I always offer at McLaren vale the chance to be dropped at Glenelg to maybe get a view of the sunset going down or eat and then make there own way home ?? Other tour companies that is their itinerary.. When some of us voted against that, he then requested for a detour to drop the kids off home first. Which I actually didn’t mind, but the whole process was just very unprofessional. Do your goggle search I dropped them off 2 ks from our house on the main rd for them to get exercise on the way home ..and there is no difference in distance in fact my rd is quicker in time. (3) Wine Tasting - before the wine tasting, he asked if everyone wanted to drink wine because there may not be seats to fit us all in! And if there are no seats, some of us won’t get to do the wine tasting. I was very shocked that the wine tasting seats for the tour were not pre booked! When I made the wine tasting booking I was informed of the new government mandates about the number of people in cellar doors so I rechecked who on board was actually tasting wine ?? To recount number very very professional don’t you think? As I said, what we paid for on this tour was the transportation and the guide. The transportation condition was appalling and the guide was unprofessional. If you do not speak up on the day and give me a chance to rectify things ? I would call this customer very very unprofessional PS Thanks for your great review

The tour was featured packed and the driver, Deep, was very informative, considerate and patient. Unfortunately we included the "coffee and cake" option which was redeemed at a cafe in Hahndorf (I don't remember the nanme of the cafe). We placed our coffee and cake order as soon as we arrived at the cafe. The piece of cake came out after half an hou!! We scofffed it down and left before the coffee arrived. The stop in Hahndorf was for an hour!! So we had less than half an hour to see the town, We let Deep know what happened and he apologised and paid for our drinks at the lunch stop. My advice is, if you want to spend some time exploring Hanhdorf, DO NOT opt for the "coffee and cake option" as you will spend most of the hour staring at a cafe wall. This was the cafe's fault, not Bums on Seats. The rest of the tour went well and was very enjoyable.

I gave this a four star due to the visit to the wine tasting and art exhibition at the Cube. Victor harbour and the horse tram was good too. There were only 2 of us in the tour. It is good in a way but we won't mind meeting new people. I felt that something is missing to make it 5 star, may be a light lunch will make it perfect ? The art exhibition is excellent if you like art but you have to pay extra to get in but is well worth it. Tour guide is friendly.

Thanks for your 4-star review! Glad you loved Cube & Victor Harbor. We hear you on the smaller group & light lunch. Feedback like yours helps us improve! Would you mind sharing what kind of lunch you'd prefer? Hope to see you back for a 5-star adventure with new friends next time!

The day started with our driver asking whether we wanted to do wine testing or not; and if not, we would spend more time in Hahndorf. It was explained that we had to decide straight away whether to do the wine testing because it had to be booked.

My wife and I are not big drinkers and apparently no one else was because everyone else agreed to skip the wine tasting.

What wasn't explained was that the winery had a surrealist exhibition and sale featuring 25 authentic Salvador Dali paintings. Sure, we weren't interested in wine tasting, but missing out on a Salvador Dali exhibition, you have got to be kidding me.

The venues and sights were great, but absolutely no commentary at all. At Mt Lofty, there was another tour guide providing great information, our group was dropped off and told we leave in 20 minutes. Not a single word about the sights, about the development of Adelaide, why the parks surrounded the city and why was there such a wide road leaving the city to the coastline. Nothing.

When on the road the driver would (very) occasionally mention something, but the headset was either not working or too low. We mentioned this and nothing changed.

Whilst the tour sights looked great, hiring a car and googling the history would have been better.

        Very disappointed.

We apologize for the technical issue with the headset and will work to ensure they are in good working order for future tours. I had an incredibly fascinating experience on the Full-Day Tour in South Australia Highlights. I booked the tour at the last minute, and since there were no seats available on the coach, Bums On Seats sent a 4-seat car to pick me up, providing me with the privilege of a private tour.

This tour was absolutely worth it if you only have one day in South Australia. I visited almost all significant tourist attractions, including Hahndorf, Goolwa, Victor Harbor, and McLaren Vale. Each destination was more charming than the last, offering a unique glimpse into the beauty and culture of South Australia.

Pram, my tour guide, was incredible. He was punctual, thoughtful, and considerate, ensuring that I had a memorable experience. Pram also took a lot of beautiful photos and videos for me, capturing the unforgettable moments of each location.

I would definitely recommend this tour and will book with Bums On Seats again if I have the opportunity to return.

The tour took us through some varied scenery of South Australia and our guide provided some very good commentary. We made a short stop at Goolwa which took away time which could have been better spent at Victor’s Harbor. Most disappointing was the stop at McLaren Vale. The Cube at the winery looked very interesting but entry was not included in the price of the tour. I have never been on a tour where they take you to a sight and then have to pay an additional fee for admission. Either take guests to sites where they can fully enjoy the sight without additional charge or raise the price and give people full entry to all sights.
