Cheerful, and relaxing , great value for money.
Very informative and entertaining, Jack (skipper ) is very passionate about his job and shared his knowledge, Perch the Pelican was also entertaining. A great trip for all the family , lots of birds and history. Highly recommended, they just don’t make tours like this anymore.

      Captain Jack's longboat
The weather started with drizzle and windy, something even captain Jack could not control. In spite of what could have squelched any enjoyment, Captain Jack's engaging leadership filled any slow points. We were then able to enjoy Kalgan's natural beauty.

Fun , scenic and very informative trip in Albany.
We loved this trip which explores Oyster harbour and the Kalgan River on a 4 hour trip packed with information and fun. Amazing close up views of Osprey, Sea Eagle and Pelicans, and great history of the area. Also some rather yummy tastings of local produce and Captain Jacks' mum's delicious damper bread. Oh, and some terrible jokes!!!!! The ride is really calm because the harbour is sheltered. We really enjoyed this trip. Thank you.

      Must do in Albanyi
We did this trip 4 years ago and enjoyed it so much we had to travel the 15000 kms from UK to do it again!OK we were already back in Albany. Jacks jokes have not improved at all either. This is a must do if you are in the area. Seriously, Jack is a fantastic host, very informative with wonderful scenery. The birds were also great, including Perch . Hope to come again!

Captain Jack gave an informative history lesson along the way , sprinkled with humour and fun facts, not to mention the interaction with Perch the pelican! Great for bird lovers as well!

      Unforgettable
This trip was amazing. Jack the captain was a mind of information, with a great sense of humour. The whole trip was insightful and a lot of fun. Plus the wonderful food (wholesome and flavoursome) Jack certainly puts his heart and soul into it and his welcoming presence is inviting and heart warming. A man who is passionate about his job and clearly loves to see people have a truly memorable time. I whole heartedly recommend this to young and old. Thank you Jack 💛

Captain Jack and the Kalgan River
What a fantastic morning activity. Captain Jack is sooooo informative of local history and makes is very interesting and funny, not only for the kids, but the adults also. A couple of treats on the boat, one being the homemade damper made by his mummy. Many birds were seen but my all time favourite was Perch! If you can only do one thing in Albany, do this tour.

Fabulous river tour combining nature and history
We spent this morning on the Kalgan Queen. The weather was cool (20C), with a slight shower and a bit of a wind. In our group two of us were prone to sea sickness. However, even with that wind there was no queasiness. A more smooth and relaxing journey we couldn't ask for. The cruise is sheltered, and I was very impressed by the nimbleness of the boat. The captain is a very nice bloke that tells a great yarn and has had some amazing adventures. He has a great knowledge of the history of Albany, the local wildlife and a genuine showmanship. I'd recommend him as a host. Jack takes you on a journey down a river that has so many stories, and each little snippet was as interesting as the last. We saw cormorants, pelicans, osprey and white bellied sea Eagles. Honestly some breathtaking moments and some beautiful interactions with the wildlife. A damper and tea/coffee is included in the price and you won't be disappointed; delicious and toasty warm this is something to remember. We brought our kids with us (8 and 10). They enjoy nature and going out on the water, and this was no exception. An informed and joyful river journey for anyone of any age to enjoy. I'd encourage all visitors to Albany to book a seat!!

      Awesome, informative, funny
It was informative and full of special experiences. I had an interaction with a bird, that had been rescued and cared for by the captain, that was good for my soul.

Decided to take this cruise down the river Kalgan . It was a real treat . It was full of fun and captain Jack is an excellent host full of fun humour and is an encyclopaedia of local history and tells the stories like a poet . Very entertaining. Included in the four hour trip is a taste of local muscles (delicious) also some wonderful damper and tea or coffee. The wildlife is amazing and Jack has a few pelican friends that are super friendly. He can even get two of the pelicans to dance . The river is nice and calm . It a four hour round trip and well worth the $95 pp cost for the cruise . It was one of the best boat trips we have had . It a must if you are in Albany . Highly recommended . Thank you For a wonderful trip .

The trip was fun from the word go . The captain was funny , peppering info with jokes . The view was spectacular.
In addition to the scenery, we had Percy the dancing pelican to entertain us , and we also got to see Ospreys swooping down to feed on fish, and their nests.
The captain brought homemade damper, honey as well as live oysters for us to try.

Jack's awesome sense of humor combined with his knowledge about the wildlife in the area is simply mind-blowing. On top of that, he has amazing homemade honey and dampers with beverage to keep you refreshed throughout the trip. I'd definitely go back to Kalgan Queen Cruise when I'll revisit Albany.

We had a great day with Captain Jack and the Kalgan Queen. A stable flat bottom glass bottom boat. We learned a great deal about the area's wildlife flora and fauna. He is an engaging personality with great energy and engagement. His personal and family history mix with the rich history of this area of the world. Highly recommended.

This is a must for young old and in between. The history of Albany and the knowledge of the wildlife by Captain Jack is amazing. For such a young man his head must be crammed full of interesting information. We loved it and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. Well done Jack and his parents.

50 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reviews in the last six weeks thank you! We were closed for nearly six months because we care about the wellbeing of family and customers alike and we still very much covid19 comply. This and the family’s dedication to the highest of standards has led to us being rated number one tour in South Western Australia and a huge amount of five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reviews. Thank you so much for yours.
