If you take this cruise make sure you take a windproof jacket and long pants, we didn't and froze!!!! Fortunately everything on the cruise made up for the cold. From the close up, beautiful pelicans to the fantastic seabird life, diving into the river to get the fish thrown in, made it a wonderful experience. Captain Jack's amazing local knowledge and commentary, food including oyster tasting, delicious damper, honey sampling and tea or coffee to wash it all down all were an absolute delight.

Fantastic cruise from start to finish. Very informative and humorous stories about the history of the river and the flora and fauna that live there from the captain.. Highly recommended this river cruise for everyone. Great photo opportunities to see large hawks picking up fish off the water. Close encounters with the pelicans too.

We took this tour with a cruise ship excursion and were delighted with the experience. Jack was a wonderful host and has extensive knowledge of the waterways and birdlike especially his mate Perch the pelican. We can highly recommed the tour and the damper, tea and strawberries with honey were a real treat.

Just wonderful. Second time for me and it did not disappoint. We had a smile on our face the whole time. Captain Jack knows his history and his anecdotes are funny and quirky. The snacks and the damper were delicious. Thoroughly recommend.

Scots living in Perth. We have to give Jack the 3 "F's" for this as the host. Not 3 fingers but F for Fabulous, Friendly & Factual. Jack is the Steve Irwin equivalent for knowledge and caring for the local bird life. It is obvious he has high passion for everything he does. I went expecting a leisurely cruise which it was but it was also highly entertaining and educational. Also a great poet - must have a bit of Rabbie Burns in him. A great day out and well worth the money.

Your was excellent. Highly recommend Jack was very entertaining and full of information Samples of food were great especially the damper bread Loved the intimate relationship with his pelican Perch. Added bonus seeing wildlife come to boat enticed with a feed of fish Well done Jack

We had no great expectations but the trip was thoroughly enjoyable and Captain jack made the trip memorable with his extensive local knowledge and great sense of humour. Jack kept us all entertained with his wit and stories such that the time passed too quickly - more's the pity. It is very obvious that Jack loves what he is doing and is passionate about the area and its birdlife. Highlights were the interactions with the local birdlife( Pelicans, Ospreys and Sea Eagles)as well as the fresh oysters( the season had just opened), fresh stawberries,honey tasting and his mums terrific damper. We had nearly 70 club members on two different cruises and ALL left happier for the experience. We cannot understand how anyone could rate this trip below 4 stars as is shown by the more than 99% giving 4 or more stars.

A lovely surprise- funny and informative. Could have listened to Jack's tales and anecdotes all day. Damper was good too!

No idea how anyone can put up anything below 4 stars.. If I was able to I would give it more than 5. An absolute incredible journey through the wildlife and histroy of Albany and no better way to receive it than on the calm waters of the Kalgan. Captain Jack's amazing energy, his quick and witty remarks, his attention to detail, and his expertise in all things Albany leave it impossible to go away disappointed. Absolutely marvelous... Will be back.. again and again.

Disappointed! The cruise did not meet the expectations of the brochure. Captain Jack is clearly a man born after his time. While he has local knowledge, it is combined with sexist and inappropriate jokes, self indulgent personal poems and a general lack of current standards. Hygiene standards are non-existent and morning tea disappointing.

I think Cathy was having a bad day, I'm so glad I didn't pay any attention to her 1 star review. Captain Jack was amazing, obviously loves what he does and delivers a very informative and entertaining day out. We were surrounded by bird life, the pelicans were a real highlight, as were the sea eagles swooping in metres away to pick up a fish. A unique experience delivered by someone who is very knowledgeable and passionate about the area he is showcasing. We enjoyed fresh strawberries and honey. We had very tasty warm damper washed down with a cup of tea. It is a real talent to be able to inform, entertain and engage for over 4 hours and Captain Jack did just that, 5 Stars well deserved.

Excellent trip with a marvellous commentary by Jack who entertained us with lots of local history - would thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone wanting a very down to earth and enjoyable 4 hours on the Kalgan - really enjoyed seeing the ospreys up close - as well as tasting the beautiful rock oysters, locally produced honey and herb damper. Cannot fault how well Jack single-handedly managed to provide such a knowledgeable and entertaining cruise.

Such an entertaining trip. Loved the interaction between Captain Jack and Perch, his favourite pelican. Watching the eagles as they scooped up fish was brilliant and the stories/jokes kept us amused the whole time. Thank you to his mum for the damper, will have a go when I return home.

Excellent value and entertaining nature focussed trip. Jack was a funny local who peppered his information with interesting stories from his own research. Plenty of room for all, even on our fully booked cruise. We enjoyed oysters, honey, strawberries and a delicious herb damper. Thankyou
