        Bremer Canyon Orca watching.
We were staying in Albany and Susan of Albany tours picked us up from the visitor centre. We were definitely in safe hands with Susan driving. Susan was informative and the drive from Albany to Bremer Bay (for Bremer Canyon Orca tour) was lovely and we would highly recommend it. Thank you Susan

        Mt Barker Grape Escape
We had a tour of wineries in the Mt Barker area for myself & my partner, my sister & her partner. Susan, our host, was extremely knowledgavble about the area and gave us running commentary as she drove us to the various wineries. The wineries al offered a superb selectrion of wine, some of which we bought. Lunch was provided at one of the wineries. We booked this tour as we wanted to create an experience - this certainly delivered - thoroughly recommend this day trip to others

        Historic whaling station
An excellent tour. We were given a lot of information on the drive out to the Whaling station. I went mainly to see the excellent Scrimshaw work done by Gray Tonkin engraved on the 4 metre Sperm Whale jawbone plus on teeth from a Sperm whale. This whaling station has a grim history with so many whales slaughtered - interesting history. They also had the skeleton of a Humpback whale showing its baleen.

        Mount Barker Art Trail tour
Very relaxing as a local not to have to think about where to go to see fine art work. The day felt very relaxed with no pressure to rush in the exhibitions. Lunch at one of the local wineries was plentiful and tasty. I would recommend this trip to anyone visiting the area.

A great introduction to Denmark and its delights. We enjoyed Joy’s commentary and local knowledge as we sat back and relaxed.

Fantastic day tasting our way around the area
Wineries, charcuterie, chocolates etc. were all delicious and unique to the area. Was a lovely break for me on a driving holiday to have someone else take the wheel. Susan was very knowledgeable about the area and super helpful in considering my husband's limited mobility and parked as close as possible to the best entry points, as well as assisting him on/off the very comfy passenger van. Our purchases were safely stored for us, including an Esky for our cheeses.

        Great Tour Company
My friend and I were treated with care and respect. Our tour guides, Tim and Michelle were very informative and helpful. They were pleasant and respectful. We felt safe as 2 women on holiday in a foreign city. The vehicles used were clean and reliable. The day was highlighted with great conversations and laughter. The 2 tours we did were the Granite skywalk and on a separate day, Tasting delicious Denmark. I cannot recommend Busy Blue Bus highly enough. Very good value for money and excellent customer service. Thank you for making our holiday very enjoyable.

        Unbelievable experience!!
There’s not more to say than this is an unbelievable experience!! We were picked up and taken early and had a very enjoyable and knowledgable journey to the bay. It started as a slightly grey and quiet day but that changed quickly. The sun came out and so did the whales. They tour guides were amazing and knew all the whales names ages and spotted them really early (which i know is unpredictable) and followed them all day with multiple sighting of single males, groups and babies! (I’m not good at catching them on camera though) I would recommend this to anyone. Although if you are prone to sickness a warning to get tablets - we luckily were ok but it nearly was a very expensive sleep for my husband - and we were lucky it was a calmer day (which is still pretty choppy) Then picked up and dropped home - thank you so much for a great experience

Tour was cancelled ONE HOUR before it was scheduled to start & they didn't let me know
I’m really disappointed and quite unimpressed with how the cancellation of the tour was handled. The tour was cancelled ONE HOUR before it was scheduled to start because the minimum number of people was not met. It seems I was called an hour before the tour was supposed to start, but no message was left, so I didn’t think it required an urgent callback when I missed it. Moreover, there was no follow-up email or text to inform me that the tour had been cancelled, so I went to the meeting place as expected and waited around 15 minutes before I realised that no guide was showing up. I then received an email over an hour after the tour was scheduled to start saying that the tour had been cancelled and my ticket refunded [I've attached a screenshot]. Cancelling a tour ONE HOUR before it is scheduled to start and then not informing me is really appalling customer service.

        Tourible
First time visitors to Albany and weren’t here for long so wanted to get the most out of our stay. We booked this tour and looked forward to it. We rocked up on the morning with 3 other passenger’s and off we set. The driver, I don’t know his name as he didn’t introduce himself or anything about our day, had in-depth knowledge of rock and boulder formation in the area, fossils, shark attacks and real estate etc but little of the history, anything we gained was from the information of our stops. The tour could have been arranged and booked by ourselves, there was very little gain of the history etc for the amount we paid and felt the tour was overvalued for what we got.

        The Gap and Natural Wonders
Picked up from the cruise port and set off to see the sites of Albany. First stop was Stoney Hill where you could look out at the coastline see Albany in the distance and see some unusual stone formations. Onto The Gap where you can walk out on this steel structure over the waves pounding into a granite channel 82 feet down and also see the Natural Bridge which is a granite arch made by thundering waves, wind, rain and time. Quite amazing. A good time was had by all and would recommend to one and all especially if visiting by cruise ship

This privately booked excursion was for 4 hours and departed at 9:00 from outside the port gate. Our guide and also our driver was a man called Tim and there were 24 of us in his bus. We booked this about a year ago but received an email a few weeks prior to arriving telling us one the places we were due to visit (The Gap) was now closed for renovation until the end of December. Given there was little else of interest thrown up when searching for things to do in Albany we decided to carry on with this tour. Our first stop came after about a 15 minute drive and was a quick stop at a place called Goode Beach and as well as being extremely pleasing on the eyes also helped orientate us.
It was then on to Frenchman Bay which was the site of a former whaling station. Only a few terracotta bricks remain of what was quite a large operation. Today it is another picturesque spot that you would never know what its history was. Frenchman Bay is also where George Vancouver, the first European explorer of King George Sound, landed in 1791 so quite a significant place in the area.
Moving on and this time to Albany’s Historic Whaling Station where we had a mid morning drink with some delicious scones with jam and cream (Cornwall style before you ask). We were there for 40 minutes and Tim provided us with a talk about the site and how it was the last whaling operation in Australia. It closed in 1978 and is now a tourist attraction to make people aware of the area’s history. We didn’t actually go in as there wasn’t enough time but were able to get a general idea about the area and operation. Our next stop was to view Albany’s 18 windmill wind farm which supplies 80% of Albany’s electric, not the most exciting place but it was very picturesque. All the ships tours were stopping here so it just shows you how little there is to see in the area. Back in the bus for one final stop which was to Mount Clarence, home to the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial and the Padre White lookout. Again there were some fantastic views over King George Sound and Princess Royal Harbour We finished our day in port by being dropped off in Albany.

I would certainly recommend this tour if you have limited time and even if you don't.

Our region is characteristically wild and untouched; a wilderness. Your review reveals there are few constructed elements; and this is the beauty and excitement. You acknowledge this in saying the views were 'extremely pleasing on the eyes', 'another picturesque spot' and note a site as 'quite a significant place', and that there were 'fantastic views over King George Sound and Princess Royal Harbour'. We thank you that you 'would certainly recommend this tour if you have limited time and even if you don't.' We love to share our majestic coastline, expansive natural environment and untouched wilderness in a biodiversity hotspot of the world. We'd love to show you more!

We did the tour to The Gap and Natural wonders while on our cruise that stopped in Albany.
We were pleased that there were only 7 of us on the tour.
Our guide was interesting and knew a lot about the area.
We stopped for tea and scones at the whaling museum but felt this was too long a stop, over an hour. The scones were not very good.
Also we felt the stop at the wind farm was not needed.

What a wonderful place to see nature at its best. It is a shame it isn't natural like it used to be it has paths and has a walk way now the council expects people to pay to see what nature has given to us for free, for all to see. A terrible shame.

It is a a wonderful place and large areas of the region are protected in National Parks and Reserves. To protect the environment pathways are provided so the impact of visitors is reduced and many more people can enjoy the natural wonders. Park entry fees are a little contribution to the cost of providing and maintaining this access to our biodiversity hotspot. Thanks for visiting and discovering how amazing is the south coast of Western Australia.

What a cracker of a trip this was. Essentially a
half day trip that saw us visit a number of sights with the highlight being The Gap. Ducked into some little beaches, squeezed in a few leisurely little walks, took in some amazing views, even had time for morning tea. Packed in a whole lot in a short time but never felt rushed. Phillip was a wonderful guide too , friendly, caring and very knowledgeable.
That’s three great trips with The Busy Blue Bus.
Thank you to Susan and her team.

We had a great time. The tour allowed us to see and learn so much of Albany’s history and gorgeous landscape! Highly recommend. We were so glad we did the tour rather than driving ourselves around - it was nice to just sit back and relax, and not worry about directions/parking/navigation. Plus the commentary along the way was fantastic :)

Albany is a place I never thought we'd venture to given its distance from Perth but, you can now fly direct from Melbourne to Busselton with Jetstar and pick up your hire car at the airport which makes the distance much less daunting. The drive from the Margaret River is easy... not much traffic and you travel through beautiful forests and farmland all the way. You will encounter some large and long trucks along the way but there is ample opportunity to pass them on the journey and there are enough petrol/food/restrooms to stop at. It took us approximately 4 hours from Dunsborough to get there and worth a mention is, make sure you have some of your own music to play on the journey as radio stations are few and far between and not very appealing with music choice.
You need to book your accommodation well in advance because Tourism has become a large contributor to the economy there. Having said all this...is it worth it?? Absolutely yes on so many levels. It is quite a large town with a great history. The people are welcoming and the food is amazing. The scenery is excellent.. many beautiful beaches (Middleton Beach has so much to offer), great landscapes and an easy drive to The Gap and Natural Bridge.
We continued down to Esperance after 3 nights in the Albany area but, that's another story and must do for so many reasons.
South west Western Australia has so much to offer beyond the Margaret River region. Australia is so vast and remote areas may not be as appealing for very young families due to the tyranny of distance but for those of you that are willing, it's worth it and airlines are starting to pick up on this.

Wow! Your wrap of the south west of WA is sensational đź‘Ź Thanks so much for visiting, explaining the travel logistics, nuances of radio reception, magnificent, coastal landscape and the reward for doing the distance; 'so worth it!' An outstanding roundup of the potential that awaits the curious traveller.
