          Do this trip!
This was such a great day, and well worth the early start. After a quick stop for breakfast we were at our first point of interest, Gibson steps, well ahead of the crowds- the beach was almost deserted! Our driver and guide, Peter, was fun, friendly and knowledgable, and passionate about wildlife. He made several extra stops to show us koalas and kangaroos in the wild, and pointed out many different birds too. An excellent day spent in good company- highly recommend (and hope that Peter is your guide!)

Reverse Tour is the Only Way to Go
Avoid the crowds at peak times by going in the opposite direction. Sights are breathtaking and continue to get better. Seeing wallabies, kangaroos, echidna, koalas, and black swans in natural settings blew any previous zoo experiences out of the water. The cool temperate rain forest stop with its towering virgin eucalyptus trees and prehistoric tree fern mottes was beautiful Even the coffee and lunch stops were highlights. Chris, our operator, was the quintessential example of what a tour operator should be. Knowledgeable, safe, and fun. The tour itself is unbelievable and speaks for itself no matter who gives the tour. Consequently, Chris made an awesome tour worthy of any “bucket list”. Even with a native “Aussie” on board to keep Chris from exaggerating, the stories and information were still fascinating, interesting, and enlightening. Being a native, his recollections of surfing up and down the coast added sincere texture, color, and depth to the experience. Rare does one not find anything negative to say or suggest. Even if your experience is almost as good as what my wife and I experienced, you’ll be more than happy.

          must do in melbourne !!
loveeeeeed this experience so much!!! pete was so informative and had answers to my million questions about australia. he went out of his way to find us as many kangaroos and koalas as he could. The reverse itinerary was so nice as it helped us to avoid the crowd of the big tour buses. plenty of stops and snacks throughout the day so it didn’t make the day feel too long or feel like you’re in a car forever. must do if you’re in melbourne!!

          Amazing views!!
We enjoyed the tour of the Great Ocean Road. The long drive paid off with the stunning, amazing views of the 12 Apostles. We also walked through a rainforest. And we stopped at a couple places and saw a koala and groups of kangaroos in the wild! Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and pointed out sights and gave us information as we drove. The only thing was I wish we had more time to enjoy each of the places. But it is a long day as it is. Also, we were picked up early and stopped for breakfast at the first stop but that was a two hour drive away. If we had known, we would’ve eaten before or brought something with us. But overall, it was a fantastic trip!!

This was an excellent tour! Peter was a great guide - very informative and delivered on finding us koalas and kangaroos in their natural habitat. It was a very long day but did not feel like it at all! Well worth it, great value.

Look No Further-This tour is Amazing
What an incredible day on the Great Ocean Road tour with Hit the Road Tours! The day was packed with breathtaking sights, including the iconic 12 Apostles, stunning coastlines, and a beautiful rainforest. We also got to see koalas and kangaroos in the wild, which was a real highlight. Lunch was in a charming beach town, and we ended the day with a delicious stop at a chocolate factory. Our tour guide, Chris, was fantastic. He shared so much interesting information about the area, making the trip even more enjoyable. The van was super comfortable for our group of 11, and I was pleasantly surprised by how manageable the driving was. The longest stretch was just 90 minutes, and we had plenty of opportunities to get out and stretch our legs on beaches and other scenic spots. We were initially thinking about renting a car and doing the drive ourselves, but I'm so glad we didn't. There’s no way we would have seen everything we did, and it would have been far more stressful to try and figure it out on our own. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an unforgettable day along one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world!

          Great Guide, Great Itinerary
The reverse Itinerary did what it is for, more or less avoided crowd. On a late January day, we arrived at the beach beneath the Gibson Steps at 10:06, and the morning sun light shine at an angle that make distinct contrast with the shades of the cliff. At 10:30 we arrived at the lookout for the Twelve Apostiles Rocks the angle of the sunlight is still fine. (See my pictures that comes with my review.) We were in a 10 people group, which is one such group out of a few groups organised by the same company and leave together. Our tour guide Wayne did a great job of time keeping, was very polite and helpful and showed experiences of helping guests spotting wild Kaolas. The only small suggestion for improvement is the breakfast purchase stop in Wichelsea at the beginning of the trip could have been better. The tour groups of the same company overwhelmed the little cafe called Routleys. With only 20mins to stop there, people have to queue with a long line for food and drinks orders. We think the guide can pack guests who opt for preparing own food or already had breakfast in the same group and further save some extra magic hours photo taking time. Overall we had fun and we are very happy with the trip!

          Wonderful tour!
Had an awesome day on this tour! The itinerary was well-planned, and our guide, Jimmy, was fantastic—super knowledgeable and explained everything in multiple languages. Taking the reverse route meant we avoided the crowds and got to see the Twelve Apostles at their absolute best. Highly recommend!

Jimmy Chen is a brilliant guide. He has the right balance between informing, having a joke and laugh and giving his guests quiet time with soothing instrumental music.

He has sound knowledge of nature, history and kept great time throughout our tour, informing us in advance about the movements and time available.

It was easy to book with them and Orlando was very prompt and helpful with our request to carry our small wheelchair and organise leg room.

We had a wonderful tour and highly recommend the reverse tour, which covers all the main stops and beats the tourist rush. We had enough time to enjoy every spot and didn’t feel rushed.

We booked this tour as a way to see part of Australia we probably would have otherwise had to skip - and we were not disappointed. We had a day in Melbourne the day prior, so we were really looking forward to a bit of time out in nature. We got that in spades.

Neil was our guide, and he had such a huge amount of information to share with the. Group about all that we saw as we were driving. He was also kind enough to join us for our lunch stop and shared some more while we ate our parmi.

The skies were rather overcast and moody, but that just made it all the more dramatic and easy to imagine it during the height of the sailing days.
We would recommend this tour to anyone who wants get out of the city for a bit, and do it in a way that helps to avoid some of the crowds at these huge attractions.

A huge shoutout to our driver, Chris, who was incredibly versatile—switching effortlessly between guiding, driving, and ensuring everyone’s safety. It was excellent trip. The views were amazing and we took a lot of pictures.. the itinerary was busy with a lot of different stops and destinations. The 12 apostles and the great ocean Road are the best stops. The mini bus has a reasonable size and number of people to get in a get off fast. We like our driver and the tour guide at the same time for his presentation skills and safe driving experience.. Overall trip was very good and worse the money.

Our guide, Neil went above and beyond to ensure this was a great trip for all, despite the weather. It was a windy, rainy day and there were road closures as well. Thanks to the reverse itinerary we made it to the twelve apostles which, for us, was really the main attraction. Neil was very knowledgeable, taking us to places that he enjoyed, so we got to see places that we didn’t expect to see! Thanks very much, Neil and Hit the Road Tours. I would definitely book a tour with you again.

I really can highly recommend this Great Ocean Road Tour by Hit The Road Tours as it was one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life! The pick up and drop off from/to the hotel worked out perfectly. The tour guide was really awesome. He was extraordinary friendly and helpful. Additionally he gave us very interesting insights during the tour, but also gave us some free time to explore the sights on our own and to relax a bit in the bus during the ride towards the next sight. You have to consider that there is a travel time of about 1,5 to 2 hours for the first sight, BUT it’s absolutely WORTH IT! After this you get from one highlight to the next one within just a few minutes. As the itinerary is reversed there are almost no other tourists at the sights such as the 12 Apostels or the Gibson steps. So you get a great view of all the sights and can easily access the best spots for the perfect photo. All in all I just can say that if you have some time in Melbourne this Tour by Hit The Road Tours is a MUST for everyone enjoying a great natural experience!

Amazing tour! We were with Jimmy, our tour guide, who gave us so many helpful insights and facts during the tour and told stories that made the whole experience very memorable. The scenery itself is unforgettable, especially the Lock Ard Gorge and 12 Apostles stop, and the itinerary is the perfect length with the right amount of stops/time at each stop. We also saw koalas, wallabies, and kangaroos along the way, and Jimmy was a pro at spotting them. You eat lunch at Port Campbell/Apollo Bay (you pay yourself) and there are stops for breakfast and ice cream at the end as well. The reverse itinerary is very good; helps to avoid all the crowds and traffic coming back to Melbourne.

Highly recommend for visiting the Great Ocean Road!

We are a family of 3 from Western Australia and we had a fantastic day out doing this tour! Marty was our guide. He was helpful, funny, very knowledgeable (and I do ask a lot of questions) and made the tour most enjoyable. He went out of his way to make sure we saw both koalas and kangaroos in the wild!
We would highly recommend this tour, especially in reverse order. The premium pick up from our hotel at 6.30 am was also worth it as navigating to the pick up point that early would have been trickier!
The vas was comfortable, and we saw so so much in the day. What a wonderful way to explore the Great ocean road. This is a must see tour!
Thanks Marty, you were great. What an asset this man is to this tour company! Well done !

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip with our driver and tour guide Wayne. He was an excellent driver and tour guide with a great sense of humor…even though y’all drive on the wrong side of the road in Australia. It was a long day, but well worth it. We got to see koalas and kangaroos in addition to the primary destinations. Wayne even helped arrange the helicopter ride at the 12 apostles for three of us, which was an added bonus even if it did cost a bit. I highly recommend this tour!

This tour was amazing! We had a fabulous time and felt like we got to see all of the best sites. Our tour guide Jimmy really made the difference - he was so kind, knowledgable, and went the extra mile! He even made sure we stopped to spot some koalas and kangaroos. The reverse itinerary is definitely the best approach – we got to the various sites when they were relatively empty, and never had to deal with crowds. Would 100% recommend this tour to anyone looking to see the best of the Great Ocean Road!
