About
Wildlife Wonders' Sanctuary offers a glimpse into an Otways habitat before the arrival of predators such as foxes and cats. Wildlife lives freely in a natural habitat, without cages, and on a wildlife walk they can be seen going about their daily lives. Dusk is a time when most animals are active, as nocturnal animals rise for the night and day-active animals return to rest. Dusk Discovery tours are limited to just 10 people, allowing time to capture stunning sunsets as well as amazing wildlife viewing and photography opportunities. As with all of Wildlife Wonders' experiences, 100% of profits go to support conservation and research into Australia's threatened species.

      Wheelchair user accessible review
A great tour with a very knowledgeable and passionate guide. Saw lots of animals (7 koalas, emu, kangaroo and potatoo to name a few) The walk is graded compacted gravel or wooden boardwalk. No steps. Quite steep in places (not compliant gradient, though it’s evident attempts have been made given the natural landscape and terrain); manual chair would need help in some areas (manual chair with power assist would likely be ok). The path is probably a bit tight in areas (and slippery) for a power chair. Car park, cafe, bathroom (LH) and gift shop all well accessible.

Unforgettable experience without compromising on animal welfare - plan so that you can take the guided walk!
Unforgettable & highly recommended! Worth every penny and planning the drive so that you can do the guided walk! Sasha was an extremely knowledgeable guide and a pleasure to learn from, overall it was a highly educating visit. As they promise, it is animals first, so no promises on what you’ll see. We still saw plenty (pademelons, a bandicoot, koalas, kangaroos, various birds, ..) and were impressed by the professionalism and the work they do. Happy to support places like this. Facilities are spotless and convenient, cafe serves great coffee and lunch seemed delicious (would have stayed if we had more time). Do it.

      Great value family attraction.
The tour is fantastic. We had a great guide, Sarah, who guided us around the paths and helped us understand the animals and plants. We saw wallabies, koalas, emus, kangaroos and a pademelon which was amazing. It is so great to do with a family. The cafe was good too.

Wonderful reserve with lots of wildlife
A must do! We happened to arrive 5 minutes before the 1 pm tour (you must go with a guide) on a walk around this reserve. The animals are free to roam, and are wildlife so not guarantees on what you will see. They don't feed them as they are wild! We were lucky to see so many animals even with the 20 people in the group. We saw 3 emus, a kangaroo family with their joeys, a swamp wallaby, a kookaburra (who then flew off and sang to us!!!). We saw koalas, one of whom suddenly woke from his midday nap and started climbing and then needed a snack of eucalyptus leaves - quite a show. It was fun to to watch. We saw a gang gang cockatoo, a bandicoot and some other birds, lots of flora. The path is flat is so easy to walk around. Our group kept spotting animals which helped the guide a lot. Our guide spent a bit too much time talking - we were interested in the history and animal info but some times it is nice for quiet to just enjoy the wildlife(we took off the head phones). Would definitely recommend this reserve to visit.

      Interesting & informative.
Interesting & informative, Alex took a group of about 10 for our stroll along a walking track which was suitable for all fitness levels and ages. Alex spoke eloquently, with amazing excitement and enthusiasm for someone whose professionalism shone - she had probably done this before & more than once! Friendly and outgoing, she happily pointed out all sorts of intriguing things along the way and patiently answered our questions. I learned a lot - who knew that emus have a stomach called a gizzard for pebbles that they swallow, which assist the breakdown of seeds and twigs? Not me, until now!!! We saw numerous koalas, Pademelon (who were more interested in making more Pademelons than us!), Wallabies, Bush Rats, Emus & a Bandicoot. Time passed quickly , I’d happily do it again, anyday.

Perfect place to see native wildlife in a natural setting.
I found this place by accident as I was driving the Great Ocean Road. I had spent 2 weeks in Australia at that point and hadn’t seen any native wildlife. The prospect of seeing kangaroos and koalas was too much to resist and I decided to call in and take the tour. The young lady who led the tour was amazing, her passion for the animals was infectious and she captivated the group of 6 people she was showing around. We were enthralled and saw koalas in the trees, little paddymelons and of course the stars of the show, the kangaroos just completed a perfect day. This is a beautiful place with amazing staff and you really should go!

      Excellent, professional wildlife experience
Stopped off at wildlife wonders just off the great ocean road and glad I did. This is a fairly small reserve ( surrounded by a predator fence) and is accessed via the guided tours only ( I think). A lovely facility ( nice cafe, shop etc). The tour started with a briefing and we were kitted out with earpieces and binoculars. The tour itself was about 90 mins and was really interesting and showed the clear focus on ecology etc. as well as seeing some amazing wildlife, I learned loads on the tour and it was interesting to see the trail cameras and other eco exhibits. Well worth a visit, highly recommended.

This is a lovely experience that we thoroughly enjoyed!

This is a nice gentle stroll with a guide who provides a commentary throughout about the landscapes and animals that can be found there, threats to survival/habitat and how we can help preserve the future of these lovely animals! Olivia, our guide, was incredibly knowledgable and you could tell how passionate she is about animal conservation and welfare.

We got to see koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, potoroos and bandicoots as well as a lovely sunset with a view of the ocean. The animals we saw are nocturnal, so may be different if you went on a tour at a different time of the day.

It was also interesting to find out about current/recent conservation projects that are being worked on.

    I highly recommend this tour!

Thank you so much for this lovely review and for recommending the experience to to other people! It sounds like you had a truly fabulous Dusk Discovery Tour with Olivia. The Dusk Tours are really special - such a wonderful time to be guided through the sanctuary. The animals at Wildlife Wonders are protected by a fox and cat proof fence, so are protected from feral predators. This means that the animals enjoy a thriving Otways ecosystem that presently cannot be found elsewhere. Every visit to Wildlife Wonders helps support wildlife conservation in the region, so thank you for your visit and continued advocacy! We hope to see you again in the future sometime.

The tour was extremely well organised, they had headsets for every one which allowed our guide to speak softly and not disturb the wildlife but we could all hear at the volume we need. Fantastic for people with hearing impairment. Our guide Louisa was very knowledgeable and attuned to the environment, able to alert us to sounds and point out animals we would not have heard or seen on our own. On this particular tour we were able to spot every single species they had on the beautiful property including the reclusive echidnas, the potaroos and the emus. The tour concluded with a very convivial sit down meal and a glass of wine. One of the best experiences we had in the area and great value, also nice to know the money goes back into conservation and research. No hesitation to recommend to everyone travelling in the Apollo Bay area.

Dusk tour was excellent - we were a group of 6 with ages from 9yo to 75yo. Initially when booking we thought it was a bit expensive, but the experience was great value with a very nice dinner and wine included. Lots of opportunity to spotlight with the red lights provided, seeing up close plenty of koalas, potoroos, bandicoots, pademelons, kangaroo, emu. Gift shop has a good selection of nature books. Thank you to our lovely guide Erin.

Such a delightful early evening tour of this fabulous wildlife conservation area. The individual head sets were an excellent way to ensure everyone could hear. Our guide Louisa had a soft voice and it was perfect for this. She was an excellent guide and keenly shared her knowledge with us about all the wildlife we saw. Afterwards our tour group sat and shared a delicious meal that was included in our tickets. Highly recommend visiting this reserve and doing a tour.
