About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Inspire8003000 contributionsAmazing!!!All I have to say about this trip is WOW!!! If it’s wasn’t for Alex our skipper and Chris and Vicky for their friendly and professional attitude and approach to the trip I highly doubt I would be writing this review! They were absolutely amazing from beginning to end, we were given brilliant safety tips on board to ensure we were safe at all times as well as amazing and delicious meals, (Alex said we wouldn’t go hungry on Spank me) and by god we didn’t. It was early mornings as the team wanted us to be the first people on the amazing Whitehaven beaches and in all the best snorkel spots. We were lucky enough to see eagles, wallabies, lemon sharks, whales, string rays , plenty of beauty reefs and fish and we even had the change to swim with 4 turtles!!! I trip I would highly recommend and would love to go back for a once in a lifetime trip.Written 2 September 2024
- R7134THjackc0 contributionsSnorkelling. Fish watching and turtle swimmingWithout dout one of the best trips ive been on. Skipper alex’s knowledge of the area was second to none. He was professional, funny and always answered every annoying question i asked. His team made up of chris and vicky could not be faulted always on hand to help, excellent professionalism and top notch food. The crew knew the best spots and times for us to get the full whitsundays experience.. would definitely recommendWritten 2 September 2024
- 73rasmusk0 contributionsAWFUL TRIP | HORRIBLE CAPTAINDo not, I repeat DO NOT book this tour I Have just gotten back from it and it was not a good experience at all! First of all the skipper/captain was rude and condesending to all guests especially the women I was on the boat Spank Me with Ozsails which I had booked through Happy Travels First of all the Skipper Alex was extremely rude to us guest and talk down and in an condesending way, he started discussion and his behavior was unacceptable and a huge part of my dissatisfaction. He should not work in a customer service setting! Second the packing list that was sent to us was extremely misleading in terms of alcohol. It is not that i needed or wanted to get drunk and I understand the safety issue being at Sea as well, however, it states that each person could bring 24 cans or 4ltr wine or 1ltr of alcohol. However arriving at the ship we were told we pretty much could not drink at all I dont mind that but I do mind how poorly this was managed and misaligned my expectations for the trip! Then i would rather not have wasted money on alcohol at all for the trip. Thirdly, I did expect to camp on night 2 as this was advertised and a big part of even booking the tour. We were told that they haven’t camped at all any time the past year, which to me really screams out that it has nothing to the with the weather on our trip but just a way for Ozsails to make it easier and cheaper for them! It is fair to make excuses about and if the weather really is to blame that is fair as well however since it has not happened at all I think clear communcation about this should have been in order because then I dont think I would have purchased the tour at all! Not going camping ended up making us spend 17 hours in front of the marina during the second night felt like a waste. To be 200 meters from Arlie Beach while on a boat is just a joke and we could not leave the ship either! This just felt like a way for Ozsail to keep us for one more night to charge a higher price. Lastly we had a very Inexperienced Crew this was a safetyd concern and furthermore we did not get to put the main sail up either which would have been really coolWritten 27 August 2024

- thomaspU3651KF0 contributionsGreat experience, awesome skipper & crewFirst and most Important: Alex our skipper is very experienced, although he is not taking any risk on the cost of the safety!! Really appreciate that, because we had really bad weather and it wasn't easy! Still, we had a great time and it was a experience which we won't forget! Also thanks to Molly and Tobi (Crew) which cooked delicious food and were always up for some nice conversations!! Don't miss to go with them!!Written 14 August 2024
- katetC4651BB0 contributionsFabulous2 days of pretty much torrential rain didn’t put a dampener on a fantastic trip. Alex the skipper managed to make sure we still did Whitehaven beach and we got in 2 great snorkel spots. Crew Molly and Tobi worked really really hard to make sure we had mountains of great food and hot drinks to warm us up when we needed. It’s not a luxury cruise boat but 100% recommend if you want good vibes and chilling out with a great bunch of people.Written 12 August 2024
- Robert D0 contributions100% recommendGreat trip on ‘spank me’. Captain Alex made us feel very safe at all times and seemed to always know what was going on. The other crew Molly and Tobi cooked some excellent food and worked well under tough conditions.Written 10 August 2024
- V2806CIrubenp0 contributionsExcellent tripExcellent trip. Genuine sailing experience in the Whitsundays. Doing 11 knots on a 82ft yacht just after sunrise, Great anchor spots, drop-off at whithaven beach long before the crowds come in, snorkeling, sunset, stargazing, whale-watching, great fresh made food, the full package. Thanks to the skilled and friendly crew. Arnie, Kate and Save were great, made all feel welcome, created a good vibe, shared a lot of knowledge and anecdotes. Even though we were probably not the average passengers on this trip as a family with teenage kids, we had a great time. We all disembarked with a big smile.Written 7 August 2024
- Pioneer357817181220 contributionsAmazing experience on Spank Me in the Whitsundays with an amazing crew and amazing group of peopleHad the best time on Spank Me sailing round the Whitsundays! The crew of Chris, Tobi and the skipper Arnie were amazing. Arnie was such a knowledgeable and considerate skipper, always making sure we arrived at the right spots when the conditions were good, whether it was good tides or quiet crowds for Whitehaven. He was also very respectful of the whales as it was breeding season for them and boats getting too close disturbs the young whales which I don’t think all boats do, so that was amazing! Tobiand Chris were great too and catered to us as vegans so well, we were amazingly fed!! The trip itself was amazing, such an awesome way to see the Whitsundays!!! So many nice viewing spots, sunsets and nature! We had such a great group, lots of like minded people who didn’t mind having a drink or two but didn’t just want to get pissed and party until 3am so we could all still enjoy the next day! The snorkelling was awesome, saw so many fishes, coral and whales whilst we were sailing from place to place! Couldn’t recommend this enough to anybody!Written 6 August 2024
- 498zoef0 contributionsSpank me boatI went on the Spank Me boat and it was great fun. Very sociable but chill. We went to the best snorkeling spots and our skipper Alex did everything to make sure we had the best experience. Kate and Vikki were the crew and they were so lovely and made sure we were well fed and looked after, they went above and beyond for us. Alex had lots of interesting information to share with us. Some people went to bed at 9pm some stayed up until after 12 chatting and quietly listening to music on deck having a few cans, not a party boat, it’s a more relaxed atmosphere. I would highly recommend it. We went snorkeling 3 or 4 times in different locations. Slept really well on the boat too after all the sea air and healthy food.Written 14 July 2024

The trip was totally worth it and one of the best experiences of my 5-week trip to Australia.
The Crew (Greg, Sam & Marven) are super friendly and apparently they are really good cooks ;)
It was a 5-Star food treatment.
Highly recommend Avatar for your Whitsundays Sailing Adventure, especially if you’re scared of getting seasick, because this trimaran is going super smooth on the water.

Me and my girlfriend Emma were part of the Avatar group on the 14th April and lived every minute of it.
We had a last minute change from a smaller boat to Avatar, this was all resolved quickly so we just headed out a day later than originally booked. Looking back we were thankful for the change to the larger boat as there was so much space for lounging while on the boat itself, whether this be in the sun or in shade of one of the nets. We were in great hands with Neil and Alex from the getgo. They took us out to some great spots and we got to see everything we wanted and a bit more. 3 snorkel spots each offering something a little different. A huge shout out to Neil and Alex for their knowledge, recommendations and squeeze in so many activities across 2 days. Not spending too much time in the same spot meant we got to see more but we still had maybe 60-90 minutes at each reef. We were also the first on Whitsunday Beach on the first morning, and although an early start was 100% worth it because as we were leaving the other tours were still arriving with the number of people on the beach already over 100. Neil and Alex also squeezed in a final stop on the last morning before setting sail for Airlie Beach.
The food was great and certainly enough of it over the course of the trip. Seconds and sometimes third helpings and all great tasting food! Again a massive shout out to Alex as he did not stop from the moment he got on the boat. Cooking, cleaning, sailing, dropping us off at snorkel spots, you name it! Neil was the ultimate professional skippering the boat, and we always felt like we were in safe hands.
Perfect time of year to go as well! Not too humid so meant sleeping below deck was alright, especially as we knew what to expect. The weather was just what you'd want, blue skies and warm weather for the day! Beautiful clear skies for the sunrises and sunsets as well which was spot on. Neil made sure we were in the spot to sleep with plenty of time before sunset.
We had a great group on the boat as well which really topped off the experience! Huge thank you to Ozsail and especially Neil and Alex for making the trip what it was. We would highly recommend them to anybody looking at going.
A tipping point for those deciding between Ozsail and another company... Alex had a stash of chocolate biscuits he shared on the second day!

This tour was just amazing! We started at 11am which is earlier than most of the other boats. That made it nice because we could stop at some places and not rush to our sleeping spot. The second day was my favorite: we went to the most beautiful places ever and had such a great time. The crew was great as well: Lilly the host cooked us amazing meals and have us a bunch of snacks in between the main meals. There were also plenty of vegetarian options! Sam was the captain and was really helpful when u had questions about the nature, islands or wild life. He was really entertaining and kept everyone happy. Marven was helping out everywhere and was also really funny! He always had a smile on his face and was super kind. The tour overall was one of the best things I’ve done so far in Australia and I would definitely recommend going with avatar. The boat was the best out of all of them. We had huge chill out areas where we were also able to sleep. Best crew, people and boat! Thank u:)

Heya!
Oh thank you so very much for your fantastic review!
Great to know you like the idea of a bit of an earlier departure, we like to give you as much time to take it all in as possible. There really is a lot to look at and appreciate. Will pass on the feedback on Lilly's cooking! (:
We love love giving out guests insights into the place around them! Super stoked Sam was able to give you the answers to your questions. Marven is definitely an entertainer! Haha
Super super happy you enjoyed it so much! Really appreciate the wonderful review! Thank you thank you thank you!

Our trip began with a short briefing about what we‘re gonna do during those 2 days and what to take care of. Luke, one of the tour guides, was very funny and told so so many jokes everybody had to laugh about. Awesome. The weather was also kind of perfect, it only rained during the night. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks as well had been organized very well and it was so much fun to eat with all those crazy folks joining this tour. Luke was the one who prepared this meal. At this point I have to say: thank you Luke, you are the best sailing tour cook I‘ve ever met!
Snorkeling around the Whitsundays was another highlight because swimming with all those fishes there extend ones fantasy and your own creativity. One thing I‘ll also never forget was when Luke feeded the second biggest eagle of Australia with some meat. He lovingly called the eagle „Carla“, which got the best friend of the whole boat. What else can I say... it was a fu**ing great time. It is quite sad that it only had been 2 days of sailing. Could have been more! Lying under the starry sky while listening to music and playing drinking games was so wonderful :) . Even the tour guides played with us. These moments are the ones you call simply „unforgettable“.
The after party is also another highlight which belongs to this superb tour. Everybody was so amazing drunk. Everybody who has joined this tour has become a part of this what Luke called the „sailing familiy“. I can highly recommend this tour to everybody who wants to live his life.

I'd sincerely recommend ignoring the last few bad reviews as even with feeling pretty seasick this trip was incredible!
The crew were so friendly and approachable, chatting away to everyone and being very upfront and honest about the plans for the days - no set itinerary/ route as it is weather dependent obviously but we were made aware of the options and it was superbly managed.
The boat is gorgeous and perfect for socialising, we made fantastic new friends and memories for life - the snorkelling was breathtaking, Whitehaven beach was a dream, and I had two great nights sleep in one of the couple rooms on the outside wings of the boat. Great food and great music :)
All in all I'd absolutely recommend this trip if you want a great time seeing the sights and making new friends to enjoy them with! Many thanks to the crew <3

I wouldn’t recommend this tour, good to do it for the day but staying there was terrible you barely can breath inside when yo go to sleep, most of the couple who had other rooms on the sides they had to sleep outside getting all wet because they couldn’t breath and there was licking on their rooms (was raining at night) food wasn’t good enough i’m vegetarian and at dinner wasn’t any option for the ones who don’t eat meat was just a overcooked pasta with bolognese... really poor and bad.. most of the time i was starving because of that, next day all of us (16 people) wanted to come back to airlie because none of us wanted to stay there one more night, you pass most of the time in the boat they just stop 3 times to do snorkeling and one lookout at Whitehaven but they don’t stop in the nice beach there, really poor experience wouldn’t recommend this at all!
We had fun because we were a nice group of people but besides that not good at all for the price, also the toilet and shower terrible you can actually wash your hair and not even thing about poo ahaha hope this help the people to decide when you choose a tour around the whitesundays

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback, we are always looking at ways to improve our product/ service and require honest feedback to do so.
Firstly, let me start by apologising for the weather conditions on your tour.
I can see by looking back at the historical data that we had on and off rain showers and extremely high humidity throughout your tour. We are currently looking at ways to better manage the humidity and are sourcing ways to cool down the sleeping quarters in our hotter months.
We are disappointed to hear that the food was not up to standard. This is an area that we normally continue to get great feedback for, as we pick up fresh, locally sourced ingredients the morning our tours depart. We normally always over compensate, and guests usually have seconds or thirds before we are forced to throw the rest away.
I'm sorry we seem to have missed the mark with you.
I hope you can give us the chance to improve, by returning to sail with us again.
Thanks,
OzSail Team

The most disappointing trip of my east coast tour.
After setting sail on the avatar the crew warned us of a cyclone approaching the next day. Little did we know that it hit 10pm that evening and lasted our whole trip. I find it so inconsiderate and unprofessional that you would set sail out in conditions like this. The skipper even said every other tour was cancelled and people got a refund/reschedule of the trip. So why were we never gave this option. Even when we came back after a miserable 2 days and 2 nights the next tours were being given the option for a refund.
The sleeping arrangements were awful, a coffin like cabin with a broken fan and top hutch which many times nearly took my fingers off where it would slam shut from the wind. We never even slept the whole time, trying to take refuge in a overcrowded middle area of the cabin where everyone ended up because we were in a cyclone!! Everything was damp and slippery on the boat. My girlfriend slipped down the stairs into the cabin hitting her head and was in tears, because not one crew member thought to maintain and clear the wet floors.
Whitsundays was the biggest disappointed, cloudy skies and pouring rain. Our shoes were not even offered for us the hike through to get there.
Overall for the price we have paid which was a huge budget of ours I would like to be contacted in sorting a partial refund. Especially how every other trip was given the option and we had no choice.
Lastly after seeing your responses from other negative reviews, I don’t want to hear the weather was out of your control as you was fully aware a cyclone was inbound and gave the other tours a choice to reschedule or refund.

Dear George
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. As we discussed with our operations manager via email, and confirmed by Bureau of Meteorology, there was no cyclone in the Whitsundays during your trip. While we do travel during the wet season, we did not receive any wind warnings and no safety was breached.
We apologize for the discomfort you experienced during your trip, and have taken your comments seriously. We have addressed the issue with the crew and taken necessary steps to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and please know that we value your feedback.

Omg, this Tour was just amazing!😍 we very enjoyed our trip with avatar which was 2 days and 2 nights. We had beautiful sunsets/sunrises, terrific views of the whitsundays, amazing snorkel tours (three times), excellent food (vegetarian and vegan options were really good and Alex is the best cook ever!).
We saw sea eagles, very big fish, turtels and we just had a perfect and relaxing time! The Crew gave everything to makes us enjoying the trip and I highly recommend it cause there was nothing I missed!

Class trip with an awesome group of backpackers and travellers. The itinerary meant we had plenty of time at every location, each with its own qualities. The crew’s, Greg, Luke and Marvin, enthusiasm and attention to detail was beyond what I expected. Someone get Marvin’s recipe for mashed potato.

We had a good time with Ozsail but it was severely limited by the behaviour of some others on the trip. You have the potential to be booked with a bunch of loudmouths who spend the whole trip drinking and smoking, and I really mean the whole trip - from the 6am wakeup to when they go to bed. Nothing was done by the crew to restore even some of the tranquility you might hope to get sailing around this beautiful area.
That being said, the are is beautiful, the locations we were taken to were gorgeous, and the food really is good. The crew were friendly. I would strongly recommend to the crew, however, that they have some guidelines on how much smoking is allowed on board because it is supremely not fun to spend two days sitting in second hand smoke instead of being able to even once breathe in the sea breeze. Until then, I think it's fair to say you have to gamble slightly on whether your trip will be ruined by the group you're with.

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us your feedback of your time with us.
We try and improve our guests experience on each and every tour, so we welcome your comments and appreciate you for giving us the opportunity to respond.
When a guest books a tour with Ozsail, we outline the expectations of boat safety and alcohol consumption, it is difficult for crew to monitor guests behaviour inline with each guests expectations. However, we always endeavour to improve our customers experience based on previous feedback. All feedback regarding your trip will be provided to our crew to ensure this is not an ongoing occurrence for future guests.
Thank-you for letting us know that our crew were friendly and we wish you all the best in your next adventure.

Hi! I am looking to book this for myself and my friend. We have a couple of questions 1. Is there vegetarian food on board? 2. What time does the tour end? We are looking to book one that starts at 11 AM.

Hello,
As we are going to arrive by plane from Brisbane, I would like to know the starting time of the excursion and the return time in order to organize myself.

Hello. This looks fantastic. Could I please ask what the average age of passengers are.
We are a couple in our early 60s. Very young at heart but maybe not too young !

Will all depend on your boat. On my trip the average age was around 20 - 25

Hi there
I am interested if there is an option upon booking to book the double room if available Also, I will be travelling for a couple of weeks. Is there any storage facilities at the marina to store suitcases etc as I understand these will not be allowed on boat. Thankyou in advance
