About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- perfectionistpolly0 contributionsMidVery medium activity, I felt as though the staff were very unbothered about our experience and were quite militant in their instructions. Didn't really see anything noteworthy whilst on the boat and felt like I wasted a day. The area where we were snorkelling was quite lacking compared to the other snorkelling tours I did whilst in the Whitsundays. Would honestly give it a miss.Written 2 February 2025
- 514om0 contributionsRelaxing day on the waterHighly recommend this if you want a relaxing Whitsundays day. It takes a while to get to the first location, but you travel comfortably on the front deck of the boat where you can just unwind and take in the views. If you want a sailing round the Whitsundays experience, then this is the trip for you. Bring a hat and sun protection. Jarod kept us moving on schedule and kept the tunes playing and Libby made the rounds with brownies and conversation, made sure every group felt welcomed and comfortable- they were both amazing. Plenty of food for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.Written 24 January 2025
- polomom620 contributionsGreat day outRelaxing day out on the water. Excellent service from crew. No crowds at snorkeling location. Thanks for a fun day in the Whitsunday islands.Written 19 January 2025
- Safari701460 contributionsWaterfall tour and NortheliesReally beautiful day! We thoroughly enjoyed swimming at the waterfall it was the best part. We got to eat at Northelies which had a nice view, vibe and great food! Donna was a lovely tour guide, she was informative about the history of everywhere she took us especially regarding native plants used by the indigenous people to heal illness/sickness and explained a lot about the Whitsundays which we were not aware of! Really well worth the amount paid and Donna was the cherry on top! Thankyou :) Georgia and JohnWritten 18 January 2025
- Jet541700987830 contributionsGreat day SnorkelingAbsolutely wonderful experience aboard Thundercat. Lovely boat ride out to two snorkeling spots. First spot, was beautiful, with lots of fishes swimming around you. Second spot, also beautiful, with seeing more of the coral reef. Food on the boat was just the right amount of snacking. We received a brownie. Later on after snorkeling, we had lunch, which was a delicious sandwich, with pasta salad, and some greens. We then made our way to the beautiful beach and lookout. On our way back to the doc, we were served a refreshing fruit stick. Music on the boat was great. The skipper PK and his mate Emily were awesome. Good people and good vibes. They were informative, communicative, friendly, and caring. Nothing negative to say. The only suggestion for yourself, would be to bring aboard some beers/drinks, if you’d like something for after snorkeling. They have a cooler to keep it cool. And they provide unlimited water. So don’t forget to bring your water bottle! Thank you to PK and Emily for a fantastic day. Well done, and a memory for the books 🤙🏼Written 18 January 2025
- K7841PDdeborahl0 contributionsUnforgettableWe had a sensational day sailing, swimming and snorkelling. The reef was amazing with such a variety of beautifully coloured fish and corals to explore. The weather was perfect and our hosts, Jarrod and Cooper, were exceptional. Planning to come back again. I really liked the unhurried pace of the trip out to the island, giving you time to take in the gorgeous scenery and chat or listen to the music which added to the relaxed atmosphere.Written 16 January 2025
- RosemaryC1880 contributionsFabulous DayOur captain Jarred and first mate Cooper were amazing. They were friendly and very attentive throughout the day. We felt very safe and as a result had the best experience. The boat was comfortable, food was plentiful. Our first stop was at the beautiful Langford Island Sandbar which was very relaxing. The kids had a wonderful time on the banana ride. Fringe reef snorkelling was fun, however not a lot of coral or fish. I highly recommend Adventures Red Cat for your next Whitsunday full day Tongarra Sail Tour. We would book again.Written 16 January 2025
- U263OJlilyr0 contributionsA good day out on the reefI think this trip is very good value for money, and we enjoyed it a lot. The crew were friendly and the food was good, salad rolls for lunch. Our only feedback is that it would have been good for the crew to give a briefing about appropriate behaviour in a national park and how to respect the reef - some kind of 'take nothing but photos leave nothing but footprints' message. There were quite a few people who took coral, shells etc with them, and a group tried to bother a poor sea turtle by trying to touch it. I also saw someone standing on the coral which I think the crew should have made clear at the beginning is a big no go.Written 15 January 2025

Addition of history of the area and additional meaning of the handed down stories added to a great snorkel over fabulous coral and another stop to snorkel with fish. Whiteland Beach was gorgeous and worth the stop. We would go again.Written 9 January 2025
- taig20250 contributionsThe best tour with the best tour guideDonna was absolutely incredible. From the off she was telling us all about Airlie beach and its exports, the flora and fauna, and so much more - a true perfect tour guide. The falls were stunning, the swimming/jumping off the rocks were both incredible and we all had one of the best trips we have ever been on all thanks to Donna. We were provided snacks throughout the day and after were taken to a beautiful beach bar/restaurant were we had lunch after. Thank you Donna and Red Cat Adventures for an unforgettable day <3Written 7 January 2025
- heidis1430 contributionsPerfect Barrier Reef Day. So chill, so fun.Exceeded expectations. This was a super fun, all-day adventure. The catamaran ride out to the islands where we snorkeled was a bit on the rough ride due to high winds but we were never uncomfortable or worried. The snorkeling equipment was fabulous and easy to use. The captain and skipper were attentive, funny, very professional, yet super chill. They were very serious about protecting the coral and gave us strict instructions to not touch it. Flippers were not given with the rationale that they do increase the risk of damaging fragile coral. The coral and fish were multicolored and beautiful though not as bright as they would’ve been had it been a sunny day. I could’ve stayed beyond our allotted hour at the first island. The second island was like a dream with its narrow white beach that slowly slipped into the light blue water. I saw a small shark and a lot of little sting rays. On board we were fed lunch and several snacks throughout the day and kept comfortable with big bean bag chairs and assorted other cushions on deck. The Whitsunday sea, beaches and islands were gorgeous and need to be experienced by getting out in them. Highly recommend experiencing it all with this company.Written 7 January 2025

Highly recommend red cat adventures if you are looking for a stress free, fun and informative tour around the Whitsundays islands. We boarded the Thundercat fast boat at 9am and returned to Airlie Marina at 5pm sharp. The tour was on time, provided everything we needed including a simple but delicious lunch with a selection of cured meats, salads, bread rolls and noodles as well as morning and afternoon tea which consisted of fruit skewers and chocolate brownies.
The guides were considerate and accomodating to those with special dietary requirements letting them line up first for their lunch. Our tour guides PK & Em were exceptional and very knowledgeable going out of their way to make our experience special and exciting, even letting us sit on the bow of the boat. They individualised the tour by changing course to show us the absolute best of the Whitsundays, sharing history, knowledge and environmental conservation information with us. The weather conditions were phenomenal, with pristine views of the swirling sands on Whitehaven beach and crystal clear waters. The snorkelling experience was fantastic, visiting two drop sites offering unique experiences seeing the vibrant marine life. Could not recommend enough.

Kirk and Tate were very safety focused but with lots of jokes so the safety talks were easy to listen to.
Both the guys had so much knowledge about the local ecosystem and wild life it was very informative.
The food was definitely strategically disrupted firstly with a choc brownie before our easy walk up to the Whitehaven inlet look out that was incredible. Then after Whitehaven beach and a bit of a dip and photo opportunity we were served an awesome cold lunch that was more than enough for everyone.
40 minutes later we were taken to a beautiful reef and were snorkeling with the team keeping a watchful eye on us to ensure we were safe.
We seen clown fish and rainbow fish and incredible coral formations.
We then were taken to mantaray bay for another round of snorkeling. At the second location there was so many beautiful fish varying in size and species.
Once we were on the boat again the boys gave us a brief history and the conversation effort that all the tour companies who relye on the reef to reverse some of the damage done by cyclone to the coral.
We would definitely do this again as it was a 8 hour experience with excellent value for money especially when bought in a combo with JetSki adventure Whitsundays.
Thanks for an incredible day

Huge thanks to PK and Libby on Red Cat 1 for a wonderful day out. Red Cat do a great job of getting everyone in the mood and flexing the itinerary to make the most of everyone's time. Whitehaven beach is picture postcard and it's worth the climb to the lookout to get the best views. We had two great snorkeling stops on the meandering route home - one to see some reef structure and another with a wealth of fish. Overall this was a great day out - thoroughly recommended.
One tip - bring a water bottle. This isn't super clear from the instructions - you can refill a bottle from an Esky onboard but there are no other drinks available.

The trip was amazing, Rob and Payton took us to two different snorkelling spots. The first one was lovingly called "fist tank" by them, and as soon as you get into the water you know why - plenty of fish to see, big and small. On the second spot, there is less fish to spot, but instead you get to see a beautiful coral reef.
We had lunch on the boat, which was a good mix of different dishes, including vegetarian options. Also, snacks in the form of cake and fruits were provided.
After lunch, we got 2 hours of free time on Whitsunday Island. That was just the right amount of time to go up to the lookout and then spend some time at the beach. The view from the lookout is stunning and a must-see!
Despite having a windy day and therefore a little rougher ride on the boat, Rob and Payton were checking in on everybody, and you always felt safe with them. Both pointed out some interesting sights along the way, and the music they played on the boat was great, leading most of the people to sing along.
All in all, a really great trip that we can't recommend highly enough!

This day trip was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The crew were vibrant and attentive, and went out of their way to support those who weren't overly confident with the snorkelling. Whitehaven Beach is a must see/do. We would have loved to spend more time there but understand it is a lot to pack in to one day. Highly recommend booking this tour as part of your Whitsundays experience

What a fabulous team and great tour! You can tell that all the staff from pickup to the actual tour love what they do and it really shows. The weather wasn’t the best when we went on the 19th Dec but the crew really made the most of it, we were in the Wild Cat and Reece shuffled the plan so we snorkelled in the morning in the hope the weather broke in the afternoon when we went up Hill Inlet Lookout and the beach and it worked! The snorkelling was great, the water was lovely and when we waded on the beach in the afternoon we had stingrays and a lemon shark swimming near us! The crew were very professional and made the boat journey fun at the same time with a great play list and riding at the front, the whole of the family loved it!

I feel that there should be more information concerning the accessibility for people getting in and out of their boats and rafts especially when having to climb up a small short rope style ladder back into the raft. I found this very hard. There were no steps for the accessibility of going onto the beach. You have to climb down a ladder . For mature age, anyone who cannot climb a ladder would find this quite difficult. Also the boat does not have direct access to Whitehaven beach. You have to climb up a mountain by way of steps and then back down. The beach and water is then another way of distance to reach. You do not have much time on the beach because of having to go through this process. You also sit on a crowded squashy boat and have your lunch which I found very disappointing. A lot of time is spent on the boat. The staff themselves were great and very friendly, but I wouldn't recommend going on Red Cat tour to Whitehaven , not saying it wasn't a pleasant day, just very disappointing and information regarding accessibility should be a lot more clearer and included in their ads.

Well organised from pick up till drop off, with a tasty lunch and a lovely staff!
The boatride was a lot of fun! They provided us with raincoats (that came in handy) and a skilled captain (that gave everybody a good laugh when he showed us how easily he could surpass another TC boat). To my surprise I actually did not get seasick during the sometimes bumpy ride.
The first stop in the tour (9am - 16pm +-) was the island. Whitsunday is stunningly beautiful and easily the whitest beach you've ever seen.
We spent 2 hours at Withsundays and the remainder of the time was spent traveling to and snorkeling at the last two locations.
When on the island, I'd highly recommend taking more time at the beach and less time at the lookout points.
There were 2 thundercat boats that arrived at the island at the same time. One member of that staff (who could easily be mistaken for a professional public speaker) provided visitors with a lovely informational talk about the island and its history.
The other staff member of that boat (the Aussie/Cambodian-bound Zac Efron) was also very friendly and helpful but I will forever be #TeamRosie&Riley! They were informational, funny, sympathetic, attentive and (most importantly) they have a great taste in music! They were also mindfull of dietary restrictions.
Would defintely recommend!

They were informational, funny, sympathetic, attentive and (most importantly) they have a great taste in music! They were also mindfull of dietary restrictions.
Would defintely recommend!

Hello Raoul! Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed review of the Thundercat tour. It's great to hear that the tour was well-organized from start to finish and that you had an enjoyable and fun boat ride despite some bumps along the way. Whitsunday Island's stunning beauty and white sands are indeed something to behold. Your recommendation to spend more time on the beach and less at the lookout points is valuable advice for future travelers. It's fantastic to hear that you appreciated the informative and entertaining talks provided by the staff and that Rosie and Riley made your experience memorable with their knowledge, humor, and attention to dietary needs. We appreciate your recommendation, and we hope you have many more fantastic adventures in the future. If you ever find yourself back in the Whitsundays, we'd be thrilled to welcome you aboard for another incredible journey!

Red Cat provided us with stinger suits

Do you have to be a strong swimmer for the snorkeling portion? Are life jackets provided for those who are no strong swimmers?
Written 6 January 2025
We had non swimmers in our group which were well looked after. Lifejackets are provided and pool noodles, the tour operators also had a little dinghy that they used and non swimmers or poor swimmers were able to hop in that and still see the reef..

When we did this trip we had to be at the marina by 8.30am - the trip left just after 9am.
We had a fab day and the team were brilliant, totally recommend this trip and Redcat Adventures . Hope this helps

Hello, I was wondering how much time you spend in the water? My partner and I get sea sick so we are trying to spend as much time on land as possible! Many thanks Zoe

Hey there,
It has been a little time since I went on this daytrip, so hopefully I am remembering correctly. I seem to recall that we spent about an hour at the lookout and beach (swimming) and we snorkeled/swam at two locations and otherwise we were in the boat. We had lunch on the boat while it was anchored in the water and on the trip back to the shore at the end of the day it was pretty choppy. I love boats and water, but you may wish to choose a really calm day and take something to help with the seasickness.
I hope this helps!

There are 4 Americans on a Princess Cruise. We are docked at Arlie Beach from 7am to 6pm. Will this 8-hour cruise return us to our ocean liner in time?
Written 27 July 2022
Technically it should be possible, but it all depends on the timing of you physically getting of the cruise ship as the tour takes off right on time. Getting back should be ok. If you are on the from the cruise ship by 7.30 you should be fine. I would also recommend to reach out directly to the Red Cat tour operator and inform them that you are from the cruise ship. I'm sure they will be able to accommodate your timing.

Hi just wondering if drinks other than water are available for purchase.
Also wondering what is a prescription mask?
Is pick up and drop off available from Marina shores?
What time is pick up if departure is 9am ?
Regards
Kaylene

Yes you can purchase all types of drinks on board the boat. They also pick you up from your apartment in a mini bus and return you afterwards .I am not sure about the prescription mask for snorkelling as I didn’t need one. It would be best to phone their office and check about this before going on the cruise.

Caters for small children - needs to be a personal choice as could get rough seas at times. We had some children on board and the parents struggled to control them for the journey as kids found the long trip difficult.
