- 410sharleene0 contributionsFantastic sailing adventure, great valueFantastic day trip sailing adventure suitable for the whole family. Those with sailing experience and first timers loved it! Good value for money with all snack, meals and drinks provided. Staff were fantastic organising the tenders to Whitehaven beach and the snorkelling. Best way to experience the Whitsundays.Written 2 October 2024
- rjjh20180 contributionsGreat trip, but dietary requirements not catered for.Great trip to Whitehaven beach and Hamilton Island loved the experience, even saw some Whales which was a highlight. I think you need to ask for people's dietary requirements I'm vegan and my husband vegetarian, we could not eat the sausages at the BBQ, instead were given a piece of bread with onion in it nothing else. At the lunch there was no vegan option, I eventually got a vegan burger and chips which was fine. We paid the same as everyone else to go on this trip and should receive the same value for money as everyone else. If you're not going to cater for everyone let us know, give us a discount and we'll bring our own food next time.Written 25 September 2024

- C8640OVkellyg0 contributionsVery disappointing, check reviews not the first time this has happenedSo so disappointed. Travelled to Hamilton island to experience the reef suite. Booked 6 months + in advance and it was cancelled the night before we were due to depart. No option to reschedule less than 6 months in advance. It was to be the highlight of our tripWritten 20 September 2024
- Danette M0 contributionsbest way to see whitehaventhe company made it very easy to check in, board, depart, and then return. the snacks and afternoon tea were great and the crew was very friendly. the boat was extremely clean and the beach was absolutely amazing. highly recommend for anyone interested in visiting whitehaven (or what i think is the best beach in australia) for a few hoursWritten 11 September 2024
- Julie P0 contributionsVery professional ServiceI cannot rate this company high enough, after staying on Daydream Island we went for a day trip over to Hamilton Island where hubby left his phone behind on a picnic table near the cruise reception. Some lovely person handed it in & contacted our daughter in Tassie who let us know it was missing - totally unaware at this stage. One phone call was all it took to the lovely lady at reservations in Airlie Beach and they arranged to send it over to Daydream on the next connecting ferry for hubby to pick up… so thankful for your fantastic service!! .. and the ferry trips where great too, very clean, professional and punctual😀Written 8 September 2024
- Gareth H0 contributionsExceeded Expectations! We were originally booked on another tour but they cancelled at the time of pickup on the morning citing minimum number not met and poor weather conditions...we were very dissapointed and moved to this booking as we left the next day. After reading reviews I was not expecting much but very quickly after boarding the boat I was impressed. Yes as others said you pickup on other islands but we quite enjoyed being on the boat as weather conditions were poor it was a good opportunity to see the area. We changed boat at Hamilton Island and felt from that point it was more tour like with the captain talking about what was around the area on either side. My daughter felt a little unwell and Brooke made her very comfortable with water, sick bag and an ice pack, she really went out of her way to make her feel better. She shared information about the island and was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. When we arrived at Whitehaven the weather improved and we had a great experience. The company offer equipment at the beach to use, there was no charge for this or stinger suits, and included paddle boards. There weren't huge amounts but enough to enjoy. On the beach we met Chloe from the company too who was also friendly and informative about the island. Brooke then fed the fish allowing us to see many types which my daughter thoroughly enjoyed and was again informative about the species. We boarded the boat and had a nice snack on the journey back including salami, olives, cheese, crackers and cake. If the weather had been better I would have wanted longer at the beach than two hours but we booked the half day tour so we were expecting that. Overall all the staff were fantastic, but specific mention to Brooke and Chloe who made us very welcome. I would recommend the company and the tour but if you want longer at the beach or to visit the reef then this isn't the tour for you. It was perfect for ourselves given the previous cancelled tour with a different operator and then exceeded our expectations.Written 13 August 2024
- susaneY9865QC0 contributionsTerrible servicewe booked with cruise whitsunday to do a half day Whitehaven beach tour in early July. We booked on the Wednesday of our stay for a Thursday half day trip and on the Wednesday night 3 members of our family became violently ill with food poisoning. We were told we could reschedule within a 5 day period but if we cancelled we lost our money ($500) but would be refused entry on the boat under health regulations if we tried to go. We rescheduled for the Friday. By 11am Friday we were still unwell and cancelled our tour. We tried to compromise with cruise whitsunday to get our money refunded but the took our $500 and ran. Absolutely disgusting service, no compassion under extreme circumstances and Absolutely no willingness to compromise. Never again.Written 2 August 2024
- 578rhiannac0 contributionsEasy but needs to be better organised for the numbers they takeIt is more than half a day from Airlie. You change boats at Hamilton Island. Boats are comfy. Took quite a long time for the one tender to take us off big boat to Whitehaven Beach. Suggest making sure you get on the first one, I was on the last and therefore didn’t get as much time on the beach/swim. They need a better system for providing afternoon tea. People pushed in for seconds before everyone had a chance at a first go.Written 17 July 2024
- EllaCoffsHarbourNSW0 contributionsA totally unforgettable day outWe had the most wonderful experience yesterday , a full day out on Camira. From the check in, to boarding and then our welcome aboard , set us up for an unforgettable and magical experience. The crew are both professional and great fun. We were introduced to all of them. Nothing was too much trouble and they exceeded in their desire to give us the best day out possible. My dietary (gf) requirements were noted at the booking stage and I was so impressed. The food and beverages were delicious and plentiful. All safety information was clearly described. Then the fun began, we sailed through the most beautiful waters fringed, with islands, we saw whales which the crew were obviously looking for and shouted out so we could quickly get to the best vantage point to take memorable photos. We stopped to snorkel, wearing stinger suits were a condition of going, so great was their care of our protection. Flippers, float aids and jackets and snorkel and masks provided. We were helped, young and older at every stage, then taken out in a dingy to the site where we slid off the side into the cool water to explore the wonders beneath us. It was breathtaking, how lucky were we to still see this beauty. We had been clearly advised of the hand movements to make if we needed help etc. There was a crew member in a dingy nearby to keep an eye on us and quickly transferred us back to the pick up boat when we were ready. That hot chocolate was so good when I got back!! Morning tea was very welcome too. Then off to Whitehaven beach, so beautiful. You can walk up to a lookout or just frolic in the azure water as calm as a pond, or walk along the soft white sand. There were toys and games for the little ones too. Then back to the catamaran where lunch awaited us. Plentiful , delicious, with wine, beer and sift drinks available from the giant esky. Time to sail back after a totally memorable day. The crew were outstanding, fun and informative, clearly love their job. Thank you again.Written 16 July 2024
- Michele L0 contributionsCrappy booking experience and serviceTo preface, I didn’t get to experience this adventure, this is a review on my experience trying to enjoy it. I was SO excited for this experience, it looked awesome. I booked on trip advisor for 1 and was declined by the company with no response why. I tried again, again the tour was declined and cancelled (probably bc I’m 1?) Apparently I’m quite relentless and tried again through a 3rd company and yay, it went through. Except I forgot with all of the things going on planning travel, getting business and affairs in order and actually getting out there (I’m from the US so this was a massive 3 week work and play trip with a lot to organize around it). I didn’t receive any reminders so I just thought it was not meant to be and I was sad but went on enjoying other incredible experiences (if you’re in Whitsundays, def check out ocean raft company!! SO GOOD) Until I got a voice message from them they were boarding in 10 minutes and I was about to miss it / missed it. I was deeply upset so tried my best to see if I could reschedule until the next day (tomorrow) because they had openings. The person on the phone was pretty rude and not a lot of help. The woman I met in person was kind but the manager she consulted said they have availability but I have to talk to my tour company I booked through (get your guide) who also tried calling to help reschedule and they were again denied because even though they have availability tomorrow (quite a bit according to their booking site) they don’t offer last minute reschedules/rebooking under any circumstance. I’m very disappointed in my experience trying to resolve this although I know it was my ultimate error. I wish I’d known more was I was denied the first two times (likely Bc I’m 1 person) and why I couldn’t be rescheduled for 1 person on a day with availability. Instead tossed out and written off with a big financial loss. Total bummer.Written 12 July 2024

- sharonbJ6290GG0 contributionsWhat an amazing experienceGot up early as the trip started at 8.15 am, and the crew started off by letting us know how to get aboard and where to safely sit, they gave us an introduction to the day's itinerary, it was a beautiful day, including in the trip was breakfast and lunch, the people that wanted to go snorkelling were given a safety talk and all the equipment were shown how to be used, the people that didn't go had a choice of alcohol or soft drinks provided and music with beautiful surroundings, it was magical when the other group came back we were taken to the Whitsunday beach, WOW, stunning, we spend 2 hours playing games or relaxing in the sun, we got picked up and on our way back we had a BBQ, also had snacks in-between, we were thoroughly looked after by the crew, they were amazing, we came back at around 1800hrs when the sun was setting, I would highly recommend this trip with the crew, they were all lovely and informative about the surrounding areas which I found very interesting. Thank you guys.Written 18 June 2024
- emma b0 contributionsWorth every penny. You must do this in you’re in Airlie Beach or Hamilton Island. You won’t be disappointedA must do! We had to most memorable 2 days, a holiday of a lifetime! We couldn’t fault a thing at all. It was the highlight of our Australian trip so far. The staff are excellent, they can’t do enough for you. Being able to sleep under the stars and wake up to a beautiful sunrise was amazing. Once the day guests leave, you have the whole Pontoon to yourself. You certainly won’t go hungry, plenty of food and all drinks included from the moment you leave Airlie Beach. We did the Scuba Diving and the Heli Tour, both worth every penny. The dive team are so patient and lovely. They put you at ease. We saw hundreds of different fish. The Heli you get to fly over Heart Reef. The whole experience really is amazingWritten 18 June 2024

The only part of this trip worth the money is the Guided snorkelling for which you have to fork out extra cash. Unless you can’t swim or have very young children this was a waste of a day and money. From Daydream Island, you need to be ready to go at 7:30am and we didn’t even get out to the reef until after 11am. The permitted snorkelling area was packed even with reduced COVID numbers. ReefWorld is a dump. Although the Guided Snorkelling was much improved, it started 25 minutes late so we got the scraps for lunch. Find a smaller operator.

I am sincerely sorry to read that you did not enjoy your Great Barrier Reef. Reefworld is a recently rebuilt multi-million dollar facility that was opened in December 2019. The pontoon is stationed 39 nautical miles from the mainland, taking approximately 2 hours from Hamilton Island to reach, unfortunately our large vessel Seaflight cannot dock at Daydream Island requiring an earlier transfer vessel to Hamilton Island. The listed inclusions for this tour are unlimited snorkelling with all equipment supplied, use of the semi-submersible submarine and underwater observatory and all meals. I am sorry that you did not feel the lunch was ample enough and I am sure if this was addressed with the Cruise Director on duty, she would have been more than happy to provide you with more options. This tour regularly receives accolades from a variety of guests. Once again I can only apologise that the tour was not to your liking.

Me and my girlfriend loved the staff on this trip! We went on a cruise from Hamiton Island to Reefworld on 11th March when it was very rough due to the weather. When it started to get particularly bad, you could see the staff were concerned for looking after the guests. Ellie (from Perth) saw that my girlfriend was looking very scared as the waves were very rough and she helped move us to where the staff were reserved to sit as it was more comfortable which really helped. For hoth trips she kept coming back and talking to us both, giving my girlfriend lots of ice to help with the sea sickness and helping to take our minds off it. She was smiling throughout and she was amazing! I reay hope that someone from management sees this as she deserves a lot of credit! The whole team deserve credit too but she is the one staff member we dealt with the most.
The trip itself was enjoyable in the circumstances, and we took a private snorkeling tour which was really good! The food and drink was also very enjoyable! In better weather conditions it would have been even better.
Overall great trip and amazing customer service, especially ellie!

We went to Reef World to see Hardy Reef in September 2020 and we had a wonderful time and from my observations, this view was shared by others on our day trip. We did snorkeling, a scuba dive and the submarine tour. We started with the submarine tour and it was my husbands first experience seeing the Great Barrier Reef and it was amazing! The colours of the marine life and the corals were so vibrant, everyone got a chance to see everything on show and the host was very informative and educational. Then we did some snorkeling which was super fun and I felt safe and we also got a photo with a Maori Wrass from the photographer. The high light was out scuba dive, the dive team were really friendly and fun and made the diving experience so wonderful, they tickled giant clams for me, showed us where the big gropers like to hang out which you can’t see whilst scuba diving. It really was the most fund and memorable days of my life!
The Great Barrier Reef is a must do in Australia and a day out at Reef World is an excellent and safe way to experience it! I really appreciated the diversity of activities on board and would recommend this for people who just want to experience the reef without getting in the water up to those looking for a scuba dive adventure!

We did 2 Great Barrier Reef daytrips and this one was by far my favourite! We were picked up from Hamilton Island and I was worried that the 2 hour boat ride out to the Reef would be rough (especially for my husband who gets seasick). But because the boat is quite large, it was a very smooth ride to/from the pontoon and the pontoon was very stable. In fact, I wished we had booked the overnight option!
I had originally booked the snorkeling option but onboard they made the 1st time scuba option available (with a money back if I could not manage) so we tried it ... SO GLAD I DID!! They gave us a pretty simple lesson and made it really easy to try it and then my husband and I were taken by hand with a guide underwater. WOW!!
The only drawback of this option is that it is a bit crowded, initially, when everyone is eager to jump in the water ... after lunch the crowd thins out as you have about 4 hours that are open to you to do what you want.
This was also much more commercialized (many additional paid options) but if you are not a strong swimmer or get a bit seasick, this is a great option to see the Great Barrier Reef!

Visited reef world spontaneously and we had a really good day. The staff on the boat were really nice and answered questions with no problems. My partner and I are certified divers and were thinking of doing a dive but the best visibility was at snorkelling depth anyway so we decided to save money. The snorkelling area gets really crowded and we ended up getting kicked by people who were careless which was annoying but we saw some great marine life. It’s best to keep an eye on the water and jump in when there isn’t too many people in the snorkelling section. The buffet lunch was great with plenty of options available so overall we enjoyed our day out here. Would recommend to people who are keen for a day of snorkelling and interested in learning about the reef.

The whole experience was fantastic! We booked on the phone and the gentleman was very informative and helpful. We were welcomed on its by a line of smiling staff members greeting us..The boat trip out was smooth and we even stopped near a pod of whales and we enjoyed the show! It was nice of the staff to open the front of the boat so we could all enjoy the spectacle together.. once we arrived at the reef we were offered a free submarine trip straight away which gave us a great taste for the reef..
The snorkeling was then unreal and food and drinks in the sun was perfect.. free gear hire was a bonus inclusion.. at the end of the day the staff again gathered to say goodbye to us all as we departed..
All in all it was worth every cent. Amazing facilities, friendly staff (especially Peter) and an experience we will recommend to everyone. Thanks again guys!

Making people wait outside in the hot sun for an hour is unacceptable and just plane rude. The customer service is deplorable. At the very least have a representative meet the bus loads of people at tell them they will be standing around for an hour waiting for the boat. If you can find another tour group go with them. This one is just Hurd i h cattle for profit and could careless about how miserable the experience is.

Hi Emily, thank you for your review. As you are aware Hamilton Island Marina is currently under construction. When finished it will provide a modern and comfortable space for all arriving and departing guests. For our temporary departure point (Hamilton Island Airport) we advise guests to check in 30 minutes prior to departure along with signage to avoid long wait times, there is also plenty of shade and air-conditioning available in the terminal 20 meters away from the jetty.

Did this full day trip under Covid Restrictions which meant there were only around 130 people on the boat rather than the usual 300. That was good as I can't imagine this trip with that many people. Reef World pontoon and the water felt crowded, although you could return to the boat if you wanted a bit more space. On the boat we were able to socially distance and they had sanitiser stations available,
There was a good swell getting out to the reef on the 2 hour ride there and we enjoyed being up top in the open air. Announcements were made on the speaker but were impossible to hear on the top deck - crew did come around to explain more.
At Reef World, we spent about 2 hours snorkelling, before coming in for lunch. Lunch was good - salads, rolls and cold meats all served by staff. There was good visibility snorkelling and we saw lots of fish and some relatively healthy looking corals along with some still suffering the effects of the last cyclone. You're only able to snorkel in a relatively small area but can also take the semi-submersible along the siade of the reef a bit further afield. The boat did a slow run along the reef on the way back and stopped so we could see the water rushing from one side of the reef to the other at low tide.
I'm glad we went as it was my first trip to the GBR and I'm even happier that there was a special of $179pp available the week we were on HI.

I would not recommend going to Hardy Reef with Cruise Whitsundays in the Australian summer or autumn. I also do not think that Cruise Whitsundays pricing provides good value for money.
We spent nearly three hours getting to Hardy Reef on the boat transfer in rough conditions. This led to a large number of the passengers vomiting on board, including myself. I am not normally someone who gets seasick but this seemed exceptionally rough weather. On the pontoon, I asked the staff about weather and then mentioned that it is always unpredictable (which is to be expected) but that it is always rough in summer. If true, I would not recommend going for the journey there. Although it did become calmer in the late afternoon on our return, it was still rough enough that a smaller number of passenger threw up on the return leg as well.
Furthermore, the food provided on the trip was a terrible standard for the price paid for the trip. The buffet was mismatched and was a poorer quality than school dinners. You do not expect gourmet food when catering for large numbers of people on a boat at sea; however, the food was still very disappointing. Pre-prepared sandwiches, crisps and yoghurs or some dessert would have been better than what was received. The only saving grace is due to the weather I could stomach the food. I must admit though that if you do this trip the "thirst quencher" package was good value for money and the best way to stay consistently hydrated on the trip.
Finally, the experience of the trip itself was incredibly frustrating. Due to the weather being rough, I would highly recommend that weak swimmers or people who are unfit/unused to swimming for a length of time should not book this experience. I am an experienced swimmer and I have snorkelled around the world; however, snorkelling in rough sea conditions is always a concern. I wouldn't quite class this as dangerous but the conditions were tough and this meant that you had to swim considerably hard to stay in one position. You could not focus on the reef or the sealife below. After swimming for two half an hour periods, I was starting to cramp in my calves. I also saw other younger snorkellers being dragged through the roped area by the current as they didn't have the strength or experience to cope. I did later go on the guided tour which was better but still suffered from the problems of rough seas and lack of time/concentration to see sealife.

I am sorry to read that you would not recommend Cruise Whitsundays.
Our Reefworld pontoon at Hardy Reef is 39 nautical miles from the mainland this requires travel through the open ocean before arriving to the calmer water of the reef lagoon. The Great Barrier Reef experience is advertised as 4 hours at the pontoon with tour times from Port of Airlie being 8:00am – 6:00pm.
I apologise that conditions were less than ideal when you travelled with us. As our crew member mentioned the weather is unpredictable, this can occur at any time of the year. We do recommend to all guest in our confirmations that they check the weather forecast before travel. When the forecast is for stronger winds we do recommend to our guests they take travel calm as a preventative. Our confirmations also advise that there is a level of fitness required to participate in certain activities such as snorkelling . On all days our team remain on a vigilant snorkel watch in case any of our guests encounter trouble snorkelling and a comprehensive briefing is conducted on board.
I am sorry that you felt that the lunch buffet was inadequate and mismatched, this has been escalated to our Guest Experience Manager to investigate.

Absolutely spectacular !! We spent a week on Hamilton island (myself, my partner & 12 y old) and this was the total highlight of our trip! The staff were AMAZING ! We paid a bit extra to do the scuba diving, which was 100000% worth every cent. Isaac & Anya who took us down were both so so knowledgeable and made everyone feel so comfortable.
The food was delicious too, and I’m a celiac (I told them in advance) and they provided a special breakfast option and even had GF bread rolls on board! Just be sure to message in advance about dietary requirements as they go above and beyond to cater!
We also did the semi submersible tour, which was really cool and relaxing way to see the reef. However I can’t recommend the scuba diving enough !
There are plenty of staff around both the boat and reef world happy to help with anything.
We’ll be back ;)

Hello,
We are booked in for this tour in a month or so. Do we need to bring our own waterproof camera, or can we hire one on board? Thanks for any help anyone can give us 😊

There were children of that age on the same trip with us. If the children love the water then they’ll prob love it. Close to the pontoon they have set out grids where those that are not as confident can snorkel. So that is a good place to snorkel for young kids with their adult supervisor. There is also an underwater submarine that travels a small portion of the reef that they will probably enjoy. We had a 3 year old seated beside us with her parents who was very excited to be in the submerged vessel. The boat also remains docked to the pontoon so your little ones can have somewhere to nap or if you’ve brought some toys, activities they can play with those on the boat. You also have lunch on the boat as well. Hope that helps

Hello! Id like to book this tour and was wondering if anyone has booked the additional guided snorkelling safari and whether or not they thought it was worth it or not?
Written 3 March 2020
Sorry if late, but yes, it is worthy. You can still enjoy by yourself but it is way better when someone expert explains to you what you are looking at! If you can, go for it!

Hi,
My partner and I are keen to book this tour with you. We have either Wednesday or Thursday to do it. Would you have any recommendations based upon the weather this week?
Thank you
Natalie

Is there a place to lock up your belongings while snorkeling?

Hi iam working for a documentary about nature art. If I would book this tour, is there a possibility for me to fly with my drone about the reef world?
best Timm

I know this for certain that you cannot fly your drone over the Reef as it’s a “no fly zone”. There are helicopters constantly flying around and landing on decks especially close to the Reef Pontoon and also there a numerous seaplanes that fly over the Reef. Flying a drone over the Reef or around there poses a hazard. There are also signs that say “drone free zone”. However in saying that, if you hold a CASA approved drone license, you might need to inquire with CASA if you can fly your drone for commercial purposes.
If you download the app “OpenAir” you will be able to see areas that you can and cannot fly the drone. Hope that helps.

Hello,
If we were to book via Trip Advisor and due to bad weather the cruise needs to be postponed. Who do we arrange that through? TripAdvisor or with you Cruise Whitsundays Directly?
Also if we were to need to cancel for whatever reason, would we contact them or Trip Advisor
Kind regards

we booked through a third party and had to change a day trip for a reason and just phoned cruise Whitsunday and they were very helpful and just changed it for us free of charge , the actual day we did the trip it was extremely windy and we still sailed although it was not a pleasant trip once we left the shelter of the islands , but still had an amazing day out .

Arriving in Airlie Beach on a Celebrity cruise ship. Is the Reefworld dock in same vicinity. Arriving 7 am in port.

I think Reefworld will pick up passengers @ Airlie Beach, where exactly I'm not sure. Your best option is to contact them directly and ask them.

Would you recommend this tour for a 3 month baby?
Written 3 September 2019
I definitely wouldn't. There were some very small babies on our cruise and I know that at least two of them were crying and vomiting. they are too young for Travacalm so I wouldnt risk it
