      Whitehaven Cruise Time
This was an amazing day trip. The team were exceptionally friendly and happy to answer all your questions. The day was easy paced with plenty of time to enjoy Whitehaven Beach. Despite being a bit overcast it was a wonderful experience. Dont forget to tuck into the food. Time to relax on the journey back with a quiet beverage.

Not eco friendly. Terrible uncontrolled destruction of the reef by guests onboard at the fringe reef
We did a full day trip including snorkeling at the fringe reef, and then on to Whitehaven Beach. Cannot fault the staff onboard, but our trip to the reef, was the most beautiful but most tragic thing to see. If you care about the survival of this beautiful reef I would NOT take this tour at all. How it is eco certified is frankly mind blowing. We had to sit back and watch people in our group destroy such absolutely beautiful and healthy coral - literally kicking it to pieces, while the staff (who didn’t like it either) were unable to stop them. We were so distressed to see this that I elected to get out of the water and get back on the boat. I felt awful. I immediately felt partially responsible for buying a ticket and being a part of this day trip at all. The company owners / management have no policy or procedente to pull these people out of the water. Why go there at all - if this is the destruction that’s happening in 1 day? Let alone every day, week, month and year. The staff were lovely and did seem to care but were powerless to do anything really except tell them to stop which they didn’t. To us it became apparent that the company focus at management level was making money despite what they know is happening, keeping the majority happy and just keep the tour there going. It’s clearly not enough to simply tell people to stop standing on the reef - whether they don’t understand or just won’t listen. They should be taken out of the water period. We were in the water about 20 minutes and watched what we would describe as a group of bulls in a china shop literally smashing off chunks of stag coral and stepping all over and standing on soft corals. It was so sad and distressing. Anyone that goes there will see what is happening. I was so horrified that I went and told the staff members there in the water - who asked them to stop, but they just kept doing it. Nobody seemed able to enforce or control anything. Everywhere you look you can see lots of broken coral on the sea floor. At this rate of destruction, there will be little left of it in no time at all. There is NO meaningful protection offered for this beautiful coral and delicate ecosystem. There were staff announcements on board telling everyone NOT to stand on, or touch the coral at all, but only in English. There needs to be better educational videos or other methods, and/ or announcements not only in English but in other languages as well. There needs to be written acknowledgements agreed to and signed that if you are unable to avoid damaging the coral you will be taken out of the water. If you can’t snorkel properly then you shouldn’t be allowed near a delicate ecosystem such as this. The staff on board went around making sure all our medical forms were completed and signed, but nothing like that about the protection for the coral / the reef. The water was so shallow that for anyone who doesn’t know how to snorkel, it was very difficult to avoid kicking the coral. Shouldn’t be there at low tide and perhaps flippers shouldn’t be allowed either. There needs to be policy introduced, and tougher enforcement of that policy. Unsurprisingly, the same people were vaping where they weren’t allowed. Staff had to repeatedly ask the same people multiple times to vape down the back. I personally cared a lot less about the vaping than the blatant uncontrollable damage to the coral. The focus seems to be on pumping out as many tours and making money, keeping them all happy regardless of what happens to the environment. What a shame because the staff were fantastic and really gave it their best. Management needs to get their act together to do something about this. Who will take a stand to protect this beautiful reef if they won’t?

      Cruise Whitsundays does not deliver
Travelled to Reefworld as the second leg of a Hamilton Island Air Fly/ Cruise. After a spectacular helicopter ride over the heart of the barrier reef, the experience deteriorated after landing at Reefworld. Overcrowded, with poor quality food and an inadequate facility for semi-submersible viewing the reef and observation of fish. The worse part however is the journey home back to Hamilton Island. You have to wait until 3.00 pm to depart and then travel for over 2 hours in a boat that is less comfortable than a ferry, navigating choppy waters. After a while some passengers started to feel sick. Staff do the best they can but the vessel itself is a most unpleasant experience.

Waste of money. Not a tour!!!!
Absolute lies! Not a tour. It’s an over priced taxi service that over sells more tickets than seats and ignores passengers standing for two hours. I am trying to lodge a complaint but no one interested. Don’t waste your money here! They don’t care.

Over priced, nowhere to sit, poor engagement. Try another company!
Not very impressed. Seems they over sold tickets and several people were left standing for about an hour without a single crew member offering assistance . The PA system up stairs does not work (or could not be heard). We had no idea there was afternoon tea being served so missed out. We had to change boats and very little coordination, instruction or interaction with staff. Basically an over priced ferry system to the beach. Would not use again. Whitehaven Beach was the only worthwhile part of this adventure. It was amazing!

Amazing experience - do it! Best activity over the course of our 21-day vacation in Australia/New Zealand. They had so many ways to experience the Reef, plus they fed us lunch.

      Wow, sooooooo BLUE & WHITE!
Firstly, apologies on the late review! However, we had a fantastic trip out to The Whitsunday Islands, weather perfect (though a bit more wind would have been good as we motored most of the way). Great stop off for reef snorkelling , with the crew well organised and attentive, ensuring everyone’s safety and insisting on everyone who wanted to go in the water wearing the stinger suits. After that more sailing/motoring, eating and drinking to the most amazing beach and sea views we have ever seen! Again the crew kept everyone safe and there was time to spend in the water on the beach of Whitehaven Bay. Be ready for boat transfers to and from the beach but the crew were ready to help out those that needed assistance and point out easier routes to the lookout, the climb up is relatively straight forward on paths but might be harder for those with some restrictions. Overall a great day out, well catered and refreshed! Thanks

Rundown vessel with unreasonable good reviews
Pretty rundown vessel which actually broke down 1 hour into the cruise and therefore screwed up our day. Definitely would need a refit soon if they want to continue to operate. Also a bit of safety concerns as I saw safety pins of doors aren’t functioning anymore and no inflatable life rafts as you know them from other boats…

      Great day out
Really great tour. The conditions on the day were rough, so I recommend taking seasick tablets if you get motion sickness. However the crew were so attentive. I cannot fault the effort they put in to ensure everyone was safe and comfortable at all times. Food for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea was great and plenty of it. The only feedback I would provide is for the semi-submersible a microphone would be helpful or alternate walking around front to back as we were in the rear and unfortunately couldn't hear anything.

Amazing, but do get the suite
An incredible experience if you like fish. We have dived and snorkelled extensively in many countries, so the idea of snorkelling off a tourist pontoon was not a drawcard for us, but the idea of spending a night in an underwater hotel room with floor to ceiling glass, even in the bathroom, and more glass in the floor -- certainly was a drawcard. And it did not disappoint. Be sure you get the "reef suite" and not the "reef sleep", as they are substantially different. Three hour trip out from Airlie with 100 randoms who then spend a couple of hours splashing around the pontoon, then they thankfully depart back to the mainland and you have the place to yourself. The staff are amazing, the food is plentiful and of good quality, and the drinks flow freely. But you won't want to leave your room, and watch the daytime fish get replaced with the nighttime GTs and their various moods that change minute by minute, and the lurking presence of a 1.75 metre Qld Grouper and his little 1.5m friend. This is an experience best suited to people who don't sleep soundly, because you'll want to keep waking again and again throughout the night to see what's going on. There are two suites, each just like a compact hotel room and *very* nicely appointed, given they are under the water. There are also a dozen tents on deck, but tbh I think it's well worth just paying the extra and doing it properly. In the morning, after a great breakfast, some snorkel time, and some morning tea, the boat returns with more punters ready to have a thrash around in the water. But you're having lunch somewhere separate and then get back on the boat to head back to land. Basically, the flow is: 3hrs on the boat in transit, 4hrs with randoms thrashing the water snorkelling in lifejackets, 20hrs of sane serenity on the pontoon spending as much time in your room as possible or snorkelling in peace, 4 hrs of randoms and 3hr boat trip. The "busy time" on the pontoon is the price of admission, and once the boat departs the vibe completely changes. This is a unique experience.

This is one of those special experiences that will remain with us forever. What an opportunity to sleep out on the Great Barrier Reef. The service on the vessel to / from the pontoon and onboard the pontoon was faultless, you are made to feel special every step of the way. The food exceeded our expectations. The quality of the snorkelling also exceeded our expectations. The variety of number of fish after the large vessel leaves is spectacular. If you get a chance request to sleep on the sunrise side of the pontoon - much better views than the sunset side.

Our group of 7 did the reefsleep in May this year. I have been to Hardy’s reef a number of times with Cruise Whitsundays and have always enjoyed the experience.
This was my first reefsleep. We were given priority boarding and had reserved seating on the boat there and back. We enjoyed snorkelling with the day trippers, however it was so much better once the day trippers had left......there were way more fish, the water was calmer and the experience so much more enjoyable. The staff were terrific......always polite and helpful. The food was amazing and far exceeded my expectations. The only disappointment on the entire trip was the sleepless night. Unfortunately for us, our very comfortable sleeping pod was located right next to the extremely noisy exhaust pipes. I cannot understand what possessed the designers of this set-up to put the exhaust pipes in the sleeping section. I was so looking forward to going to sleep listening to the gentle noises of the ocean. Earplugs and a pillow over the head did not drown out the constant drone of the exhaust. By morning we were ready to scream at management and demand a refund. Luckily for them, we went for a snorkel and then felt less enraged.
Reefsleep costs one a considerable amount of money, and one would expect to get a decent nights sleep. My engineer husband says it would not be an issue relocating the exhaust pipes away from the sleeping area. Eg to the top of the toilet block.

Please do something to rectify this very real problem with an otherwise excellent tourism experience.

The Reef Sleep is an Australian bucket list item in our opinion. While there’s some sharing of the space while the main boat is in, the time outside of this does outweigh the shared time in multiples. Chef Sebastian is phenomenal - the food just flows and it is by far some of the most delicious food we have eaten. The staff cannot do enough for you and ensure you’re experience is wonderful. Sleeping under the stars in such a stunning location is definitely logged in our memories. Sunrise was incredible and we participated in the very first yoga session on the deck. That particular day was a glass out on the water - insanely magic. We felt very grateful to experience it all. Craig from the Dive Team took us on a private guided tour before the day guests arrived and it was well worth it, he is an energy you want to be around, he works very hard to ensure everybody is living their best days on the reef. He also took the yoga class as a gift to us guests because he loves his days and time out there so much. A 40th birthday to remember. Thank you, you should all be very proud of your current Reef Sleep experience.

The catering and the crew on the pontoon, once the day guests and last nights guests departed are amazing. This includes of course the morge experienced people like Ken and Nat, but also Brooke and Shaun (the chef) do an amazing job. Always a smile on their face, great hospitality.

Now. Don't go scuba diving with however.

Organization around it is an absolute mess, even though it would not be too difficult to organize it properly.
We asked to take our prebooked dive in the morning on the second day.
The guy from the dive crew said that this should not be a problem, but 10' later somebody else approached and told us that we would be in the first group when arriving at the pontoon, 11.00am.

This was an absolute mess. We got a short briefing, but no information about where to put our luggage, when to take everything off the transport vessel, when to check in to the reefsleep area, no information..
We were just told to run off the vessel as soon as it arrives, grab a stinger suit and run to the dive center. There, the chaos continued. The gear is not in good shape, the clips of the BCDs do not close properly and are worne out. The Wetsuits are falling apart.
We were "waiting" roughly half an hour with full gear and weights, being pushed around from corner to corner, been given conflicting instructions every 2 minutes.
Absolutely disorganized, never experienced anything so bad around diving in my life.

Snorkeling is pretty nice, but you cannot go further than 150m away from the pontoon. Nobody told us.
A guided snorkeling tour was on its way, a bit outside of the official snorkeling area.

As I didn't know better, I snorkeled towards them.

Being in proximity, I was stopped by a guide who told me "You cannot be here without an emergency swimming aid".

I said "okay" and went back.

Next morning I wanted to go snorkeling again, and asked the same guide: If I take one of those I can go a bit further, right?
He responded: No, you cannot take one of those, they're only for guided/paid snorkeling tours.

    What?

    I understand, safety.
But don't throw around conflicting information.

Next day, with the arrival of the day guests, the groove changed completely, very aggressive lifeguards.

Again, pontoon-live as such and reefsleep are great, water activity is an unorganized mess, don't do it.

We did the Reefsleep not knowing what to expect. The food provided was abundant and great quality (although difficult with my partner having certain food allergies) the first day you don't get to put your belongings in your reefsleep/suite but you don't mind because you're out enjoying the day. It was my first time diving and the diving instructor I had was so professional and patient. I felt very confident in his experience and he was kind when I had a panic attack.

My partner was a certified diver and a few diving staff joined him for a dive and again the staff were very friendly. We saw two turtles, a massive Eagle Ray and massive giant trevally, maori wrasse and a grouper nearly 3 meters long. We were very lucky. We had other guests that made a great group of people to enjoy this experience with. It is a little annoying when the day trippers come out and you no longer have the pontoon to yourself, only because there's so many people in the water to compete for space with.

I recommend staying over night rather than a day trip because the underwater observatory comes to life with massive fish and the grouper comes to say hello through the glass while he hides away during the day. It was early morning when we saw turtles and rays as well.

Snorkel safaris are unessecary unless you are not a confident swimmer as there can be strong currents. Having someone with you then may be beneficial.

Otherwise, you have everything at your door step and there are ropes to guide for a pleasant snorkel on your own.

It's expensive but certainly worth the price in my eyes. You will be sad to say goodbye on your last day.

We LOVED this and really hope to go back again. We were spoilt with food and drinks, got to see the most stunning sunset and sunrise, and we could jump in and out of the sea to our hearts content. The reef was amazing and we saw lots of fish.
We did the snorkel safari which I really enjoyed as we learned about the reef and it’s inhabitants as we swam over.
We also did the introductory scuba diving...my husband said it was the most incredible experience ever. For me, I nearly had about ten panic attacks but we had the most patient instructor, Gus, to take care of me. I managed to complete the dive, and swam down a couple of metres too so I was very proud of myself after that.
Abby & Millie who looked after us during our stay were so kind, as were the rest of the crew. Every single person was friendly and helpful.
The downside... it’s an expensive trip. The toilet and showers clearly hadn’t been cleaned or even checked on for a while. The shelves in the showers were covered in empty bottles of shampoo/soap/etc that other guests had left behind. The body wash dispensers were both empty, but there was a bottle of soap in the shower. Who knows if we were to use it or not? The toilets were dirty, and the toilet roll/paper towels kept running out. Nothing seemed to be being done about it so my husband worked out where the store cupboard was and topped it all up himself. One of the toilets didn’t have any soap in the dispenser, but did have a big bottle of soap which you had to pick up and hold to squeeze out the soap. None of this seems covid safe... I don’t know if they’re understaffed, which would be a shame, but we found this aspect to be really disappointing.
Overall though, incredible experience and highly recommend.

Where do I ever start!? Oh. My. God. What a team you guys have!! Andy and the whole Reefsleep team went above and beyond with absolutely everything, including being a huge part of my proposal to my now fiancé! Andy arranged champagne to be waiting at the perfect spot on the deck at sunset, took photos/videos of me popping the question, and even arranged a special romantic dinner in the underwater observatory for us. Andy showed insane amounts of enthusiasm and was extremely encouraging when I was nervous in the hour leading up to the proposal. Special thanks to dive instructor/photographer Bruno for surprising us with his amazing saxophone skills when I popped the question. Andy and his fantastic team, including his lovely daughter Indy had become our best mates by the end of the trip. These guys deserve the very best of compliments, the long hours they worked, with the biggest smiles on their faces the whole time. I've worked in the tourism industry for years and these guys were next level. My partner Jess and I were very touched by the support of the whole Reefsleep team. I'm sure that I won't be the only one to speak very highly, but I just really felt the team made our experience completely unforgettable. I truly special weekend for us. Thanks, again. Matt & Jess Xx.

Very seductive and deceptive marketing which shows a totally different experience than reality. It resembled a backpackers on water with people everywhere. The food was like terrible; unhealthy and disgusting. The underwater observatory was so packed with people and pathetic, we wondered if we were in the wrong place was it looked so different to the photos on the website. After a 3-hour boat ride, we were told to wait for another 3 hours before we could move into our pod beds and put our bags under a chair until then. Or we could have joined the queues of people waiting for the mini sub ride but again we were not expecting the hordes of people due to the photos on the website. The dining table we witnessed was not separate and looking over a sundrenched ocean but resembled a school dining hall where we were told we would eat that evening. The beds were so close together that your neighbour would have heard you cough. We asked to speak to a staff member and expressed our concerns about all the above. We went to celebrate my partners birthday and as this was not the romantic experience that were expected with all the people, we asked for our money back. We were told "no" but we chose to leave anyway and try and find somewhere to celebrate the occasion. The staff were friendly and accommodating but the whole experience left us disillusioned with the company and $1220 out of pocket for the whole experience. We wrote to the company explaining everything and received no response.

Cruise Whitsundays advertising for the Reefsleep Experience does highlight the best bits. As stated on our website, the real experience begins after the day guests depart for the day. If you were expecting only the Reefstay guests for the whole 2 days, I apologise as this is obviously not the case. If you wanted to do an activity, this would either have to be pre-booked or lined up. Private dinner options were offered as well as a bed further away from the others . I believe Cruise Whitsundays offered everything to give you the best experience but as you chose not to stay over night, no refund was able to be offered. Again I can only apologise that we did not meet your expectations. Your feedback is appreciated.

We have been lucky enough to spend 9 weeks touring NZ and then the eastern coastline of Australia and this was our highlight
From the moment we were called to board the boat( skipping the queue) until we returned 34 hours later we were treated so well
As Reefsleep guests you have an allocated area to sit on the boat so very comfortable. 3 hour journey from Airlie Beach calling at Hamilton Island for more passengers
Got to the Pontoon at 11 and the boat stays moored until 3 when the day passengers depart
During those 4 hours very organised operation getting snorkellers into stinger suits, masks and fun, or diving, semi submersible sun , helicopter flights or underwater observatory
We did 10 min flight which cost $150 but what a great way to see the reef
Snorkellers who were not confident could have life jackets, noodles etc, there is a rope system to hang onto and staff at hand in boats
The special part is between 3 pm and 11am the next day when it is just you and the crew
Can be up to 28 guests but only 4 of us so more crew than passengers
Food was incredible and plentiful with drinks included
Night sky awesome with no light pollution
Reef come alive at night and we saw giant trevali fish in underwater observatory
We were sleeping in swag on deck, very comfortable. There was no one in the reef suites so we were given a tour. You are 4 metres down and have windows along the whole of one wall which you can light up and see the world going on
Breakfast great and we chose a guided snorkel tour with Josh as my husband was not a strong swimmer. He snorkelled further than he has ever been and loved every minute of it
We must mention Michelle one of the 2 hosts who cared for us and the care and attention she gave us was exceptional
    Definitely worth the cost

3 hour Catamaran trip via Hamilton Island out to the Pontoon on Hardy Reef. Opportunity to snorkel, glass bottom boat, (scuba dive or helicopter flight at extra cost). When the Catamaran takes the day trippers home you are left with the whole place to yourself (there were 16 of us on our trip).  The hosts looking after us were all lovely and nothing too much trouble. The food was delicious and plentiful, as was the alcohol!!  After dinner we retired to our tent for the night which you can have open or closed up if you prefer. Looking up at the stars was a real treat with no light pollution. I would highly recommend this for something a bit different or a special occasion. Next time we will try the Reef suites.
