- milly1920 contributionsWhat an experience!WONDERFUL experience. Has been on our bucket list for quite a while. Mabo was brilliant great knowledge was first class and informative and his light hearted banter made everyone feel relaxed and really enjoy their cruise. River and scenery was amazing and did manage to see a couple of crocodiles laying in the sun, also sea eagle nest with dad watching over. River was so changeable in current depth and the different plants and trees growing on the sides. We would definitely recommend this cruise.Written 20 September 2024
- biancasR5980OF0 contributionsWorth it……. Thanks JoeyWas such an enjoyable experience. Joey is an absolute amazing tour guide. Knows so much about the history of the waterways and the fauna and flora of the Kimberley’s. He is very funny and entertaining…. He really made the trip, not to mention the most beautiful scenery, birds and wildlife. I recommend the Ord River Cruise through Triple J tours to all ages.Written 14 September 2024
- AnneO8550 contributionsAwesome tripThe viewing of the dam then the boat trip back along the river was wonderful and highly recommended I nice afternoon tea Perfectly finished with a beautiful sunsetWritten 3 September 2024
- Forstergadabout0 contributionsTake the similar tour to include Durack Homestead instead.First half quite boring, basically just a fast boat trip to collect majority of guests at main dam at 2pm. Thereafter too many on boat, difficult to take photos with the same people hogging the vantage spots. Saw nothing of Lake Argyle except north wall of dam. Guide Robo however was entertaining & knowledgeable. For the money our group thought it was expensive, especially as nothing to eat until after 4pm.Written 29 August 2024

- jill4990 contributionsOrd River Highlight! This afternoon was amazing! It started with our bus trip to Lake Argyle and Hazel our driver was amazing. She had so much knowledge of the area and it was fascinating to listen to her. We then jumped on the boat with Mabo as our captain and he made the whole afternoon! He was knowledgeable, drove the boat with skill and precision and stopped and explained the bird life, the fishing holes, the crocodiles and more. This was an amazing afternoon and we highly recommend it to everyone!Written 12 August 2024

- Jacqui M0 contributionsBest tour in the East KimberleyExcellent river cruise 55km up and 55km back on the Ord river to Lake Argyle dam wall from Kununurra. Fantastic scenery and commentary along the way. We saw lots of freshwater crocodile's and Birdlife. Stopped at a lovely spot by the river on the way back for a nice afternoon tea. Amazing tour! From the bus pick up, museum tour, dam stop and boat cruise down the river, this day trip is well worth it. Stunning scenery and our skipper Marbo kept us well informed and entertained as we made our way back down the river for sunset. As his "self appointed deckie" he could have worked me harder but I can honestly say this is a day I won't forget 😀

Thanks for rating our J3 Ord River Discoverer Cruise with Sunset tour with 5 stars.
Great to hear you found the tour both informative and entertaining!
The variety and abundance of wildlife in this part of the world is astounding.
Sunset at Kununurra is the best time of the day, as the gorges glow displaying a beautiful array of colours.
Thanks for being such an amazing guest (and deckie :)), we are glad you enjoyed it so much.

Absolutely brilliant the only negative was we just spent 2 days at Lake Argyle so the bus portion of the cruise was a bit wasted had we looked closer at he itinerary we would have gone directly to Kununurra and by passed Lake Argyle. Apart from that commentary on both bus and boat was of a very high standard in both knowledge and personality, scenery was outstanding, afternoon tea exceptionally organised given Joey our boat captain was the only staff member looking after us.
Highly recommend.

This would have to be equal to or better than any other tour that we have done in many years. Our guide, Joey was informative, funny and certainly knew how to handle a high speed jet boat. If you want to experience a thrill jet boat ride for 50+km on the Ord river, then this is worth every cent. At the same time, we got to see fresh water crocs and birds plus other animals and learned about the Lake Argyle water system.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the triple J tour and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Hazel drove us to lake Argyle while providing interesting tidbits of information about the region. Then Joey guided us down the Ord River with just the right mix of facts, jokes and banter. Spotting crocs, rock wallabies, bats and birds, observing water lines, rock formations, vegetation and irrigation channels, culminating in a spectacular sunset - this is a must do!

We did the trip with a bus ride to the Ord Dam and a cruise down t(e river back to Kununurra. The bus driver Hazel was lovely and really knew her stuff but all was lost as the amplification through the bus just did it work. Mabo the boat driver was quite a pleasant character with plenty of knowledge and heaps of ability to take us from the Ord river dam back to Kununurra. Afternoon tea provided was great and tasty. Our grips was that the boat seats were the most uncomfortable seats to have to endure for a 3+ hour trip. There were soft drinks supplied in cans for most people but nothing for those that only wanted water. It was paper cups and cold water at the back of the boat. You really couldn’t stand up as the standing area was far too small and the boat was fairly full. We saw a lovely sunset and saw some great fauna and flora.

Hi
We are sorry to hear that you found the seats uncomfortable.
We opted for high quality marine seats that are constructed with a breathable mesh fabric, as we find they are the best possible seats for our hot and humid climate and durable enough to withstand the elements and wear and tear.
Yes, we agree that both Hazel our Coach driver and Mabo our Skipper are fantastic tour guides with plenty of knowledge, experience and ability!
We welcome all feedback and have taken note.
Thank you.

Everything was perfect from pick up to drop off. We enjoyed the variety of scenery and experience by combining the bus to Durack Homestead and Lake Argly with the boat trip into the sunset on the Ord River. Learnt so much about the natural habitat, people and history of the area. Hazel (coach guide) and Joey (boat guide) were incredibly hospitable, knowledgeable and entertaining. Highly recommended!

I enjoyed this Ord River Cruise with Triple J Tours immensely. The skipper and crew were very professional and the skipper very entertaining and also very informative. I was on this tour as part of my Outback Spirit Exquisite Kimberley Adventure and it was definitely a highlight of our time in Kununurra.

This was a great experience. The bus picked us up from our Kununurra accommodation and stopped at a few spots to take photos and also at Durack House. The driver was very informative and made the drive enjoyable. The river boat cruise was fantastic. Our guide was highly entertaining and had a wealth of knowledge on the history of Lake Argle, the Ord river and surrounding region. I would highly recommend this Triple J tour.

Our captain Joey was keen to give everyone on board a great experience, and blended humour with his info patter. The trip has a bit of everything - the 700hp outboards ensured that at times you literally had to hang on to your hat, and then at other times as we looked for local wildlife Joey slowed down and even stopped and did a 360 to back track when we spotted something special. Extra entertainment was provided during afternoon tea by scores of large catfish who availed themselves of the surplus pumpkin scones. We finished the ride with a beautiful sunset over Lake Kununurra and farewelled Joey and guests as the boat dropped us off right at our front door - well, within 100 metres.

The trip up and down the Ord with Mabo was exceptional
The landscape constantly changed and being on the water made us feel a part of rather than driving by. Mayo was a very competent skipper and his comentry was numerous and informative. We ended on a highlight a white bellied sea eagle catching a turtle and feeding its young in their nest and then the sun set on one side of the boat and a full moon rose on the other.
