        Fun whale viewing.
Great cruise and plenty of whales spotted as well as turtles. The boat is a good size and not over crowded. The food on the way out and the return trip with a bar was a good way to end the trip. The staff are super friendly and I'll return next season.

Amazing day out with a fantastic company. The boat was top notch, food, refreshments and commentary excellent, not to mention the whales who put on a fantastic show for us. Highly recommended

        Amazing whale-watching in Hervey Bay
Brilliant experience - we were on the final tour of the season so I was worried we wouldn't e see any whales, but we spotted several mums and their calves. The commentary throughout the trip was engaging and enlightening. Would love to go again during peak season. The boat seemed very packed when we boarded, but everyone had a chance to see the whales each time some were spotted. The lunch was great too!

        Amazing! Highly recommend!
What an absolute pleasure this cruise was! The crew were so lovely particularly the bar person who was so accommodating even hand delivering the kids their 2 minute noddles while we enjoyed a beverage on the deck. The vessel was very comfortable and accessible for my child with some mobility / balance issues. The captain did an amazing job finding pods for us to view. Breakfast and morning tea was lovely and kept the nibbles away. Would highly recommend to others and absolutely go again. In fact I met two locals on board who are regulars on their ship as their preferred tour and vessel in the region! Can’t go pass a local recommendation! **accessibility: One of the better small vessels for accessibility, ramps all through the lower deck, not sure a standard wheelchair would be able to fit through the walkway from stern to bow though. Access to level 2 and 3 has stairs. Toilet has hand rail but is the usual low marine seat, would not fit a chair.

        Fabulous time
This was a wonderful cruise. The boat was the perfect size for us - not huge but big enough to move around in. I have some mobility issues and it was very easy. The staff were all brilliant, very helpful, very happy and knowledgeable. The captain gave very detailed information where and when appropriate and managed to avoid trying to make jokes or dubious analogies. He spoke to us when necessary and left us in peace the rest of the time. A good lunch and an extra surprise bonus for those of us who booked directly! My only complaint was that the music was too loud - why do we even need music? I mentioned it to one of the crew and it was turned down immediately and they checked to see if grumpy old me was satisfied. Great work and lots of whales.

        Must see whale watching experience
Was a great afternoon relaxing on the very comfortable boat. The weather was a bit rough but everyone enjoyed the trip. Plenty of mother and calf whales to be sighted. The captain was very knowledgeable about the whales which added to the experience. The food, drinks and service by all staff was brilliant.

Amazing experience. Great boat and great crew.
We had an absolutely amazing time. The boat is so well set up and allows all passengers to comfortably view the whales from both upstairs and downstairs. The crew were wonderful - so well organised and nothing was too much trouble. Lunch was perfect. A great day.

        Unbelievable experience!
Fantastic half day trip. We went on the afternoon tour. It's very well organised from start to finish. We were supplied a lovely grazing plate each and also a delicious dinner of cold roast chicken, ham, salads and a roll. We lost count of how many Mums with their calf we seen. They were very active and put on a show like no other! A mum and calf swam under the boat (right under us) turned around and came back under, unbelievable! The crew were fantastic! Nothing was too much and they were very attentive throughout the cruise. I highly recommend Whale Song! Thanks to the crew and the whales for making our afternoon a memorable one.

The best whale viewing I have been on
Excellent trip with the Skipper Andrew so knowledgeable about whales and kept us all enlightened. The crew and their service was amazing along with the food. We were fortunate to see many whale pods. I would recommend this tour as the best i have been on.

💯 involvement on the part of the Captain & his crew. He ensured that we got the very best out of our trip this morn.V.s
It was time to return to dock, when Captain spotted a humpback whale frolicking in the shallows. He stopped for a while to give this bonus sighting too. Loved his sincerity & passion for his job. The ground staff at the WhaleSong Office as well as those on board, were very friendly and caring. I would have loved to go again if time had permitted. Thank you WS team🫱🏻‍🫲🏼.

Fraser Island beach is beautiful - great stretches of smooth sand - but you need to appreciate that there are no reefs around the island so although the water is lovely and clear, there is absolutely nothing to see in it. Dingos were no problem but knowing they are there stopped you venturing into the interior. Fishing tackle was well below par and my partner spent most of his time trying to get it to work (and he knows what he's doing). Snorkeling gear was a bit hit and miss and not much of it. Also pointless, as there's nothing to look at. A few kayaks were available but most people just used them for 10 mins or so as there is no particular place to aim for. There was a beach cricket set which was a hit with those with children. A small marquee was erected for shade (there's nothing on the beach at all) and a few chairs were available but not enough for the whole party. The crew worked hard with what little they had and the BBQ lunch back on the boat was very good.

Thanks for taking the time to review our Fraser Island Beach + BBQ cruise. Such a shame you didn't appear to enjoy the cruise as most other people do. We certainly do our best to cater to everyone on the boat and their needs for the day. Sounds like it didn't happen for you though. I'd like to address your concerns: - Dingoes: the skipper always gives his 'be dingo safe' talk before disembarking the main vessel. As he says, there many be some present, but you're generally fine if you're with someone else. We emphasise that children shouldn't be left to run around on their own. Apart from that, it is highly unlikely you will even encounter a dingo, let alone be bit by one. It's a shame it deterred you from venturing off the beach to discover the beauty of the interior. Many of our guests have looked around there, without any incident. Fishing tackle: As you would know, fishing tackle and sand don't mix well. Our equipment is perfect for just throwing in a line and having a go to catch a bit of whiting. No, it's not the best quality (we save that equipment for our optional fishing add-on which is not done on the beach) but serves it's purpose as a fun thing to do. As we provide ALL equipment for the trip (and it's not a specialised fishing trip), we cannot provide the highest quality equipment, for the price of the cruise. Also, we invite our guests to bring on their own equipment, if they wish. Some of our more serious fisherpeople do take us up on the offer and we're happy for them to have their own equipment on board. Snorkelling: you're correct, being a sandy bottom, there's not much to see besides bait fish, whiting and the odd ray or parrot fish. If it's a dedicated snorkelling trip you're after, then you'd find more variety of gear for your use. Kayaking: yes, there's no place to aim for. This whole experience is just about trying different things and having a go on the water. It's not a guided tour and our guests are able to do as much as they want or as little as they want (some take the kayaks out for a bit of fishing too...just a few whiting caught though). Shade: definitely no natural shade on the island. We erect 3-4 shades of 3x3 metres, depending on the number of people on the boat. This ensures that everyone gets to have some shade whilst they're not doing activities. In general, we provide enough decent equipment for the numbers we have on the boat. As we take up to 40 guests sometimes, we don't have 40 of everything on board...it would take us too long to transport it all to the island. This just means sharing with others and most people tend to understand that. Everyone gets to have a go at everything they want to and the crew is always there to assist. One of our crew has been fishing all his life, so would've helped you sort out the fishing equipment if he'd have known. Glad to see you enjoyed your lunch back on the boat.

We went on the first summer trip of their season. When we arrived we didn’t realise we were going to go onto the island and we weren’t sure about getting on and off the boat.
The team made it easy to get on and off and even provided chairs and umbrellas.

Overall it was a nice trip but it was made much better by a young lady named Mel. She checked in on us constantly, added humour and provided information about the island. The whole team was busy the entire day and went through a lot of effort to ensure it was run efficiently.

We look forward to coming back in whales next year.

This cruise has now become an annual event for my sons birthday. This is our second time and we had to do it again because we all had so much fun last year. I think its the best value for money Fraser trip available. The experiences offered and the staff are amazing.

This was a family Christmas present for mum, dad, the kids (12 + 10) and grandma. I know it sounds cliché but it really had something for everyone. Adrenalin filled tube rides for the kids (and a slow one for grandma), dolphins for the animal lovers, kayaking and beach cricket for the sporty and relaxing on the beach enjoying the drinks service for those that wanted to chill out. Might do it again next Christmas!

The bbq lunch on the way back was lovely. Tasty, fresh salads (I saw the crew cutting up ingredients for the Greek salad on the way out) beautifully cooked steak, prawns and sausages. We ate while the captain cruised slowly beside the island sharing some interesting facts about the island.

      Would definitely recommend.

It really does sound like a cliche but there definitely is something for everyone! The Beach + BBQ cruise is a perfect 1/2 day for a taste of the island and a bit of fun while you're at it! The cruise had it all. It included not only the cruise to Fraser Island whereby we stayed for about 2-2.5 hrs but to get off the main boat you had a choice to take a dinghy, kayak over or swim! Shade tents/umbrellas were setup for us all. other activities included going on a bisquit couch/donut and pulled along the water by speed boat at whatever speed you wanted, kayaking, fishing or just walking along beach and swimming. No shoes required. Later had options to jump off the boat before eating our BBQ meal. Very generous friendly staff. Cannot complain at all. Thoroughly recommend this cruise!

We were initially going to book a trip to spend some time on the western shore of K’gari with another company, but they were already full. Lucky that the manager at our accommodation thought of Whalesong Cruises and called to ask! (Whalesong Cruises brochures for Fraser Island activities are needed at Harbour Boat Apartment!)

The trip was exactly what we wanted - kayaking, riding a tube, swimming, fishing, beach cricket and having nice cold beverage, and yummy BBQ lunch on the boat. The best part according to our kids were to have a choice to jump off the boat and swim to shore. We felt very safe with experienced tour guides. My husband and I loved the tubing!! We all had a great time.

We are busy dropping off brochures when we can, so we will make a special trip to Harbour Bay Apartments - thanks for letting us know! And thank you for joining us :) It definitely sounds like you all had an amazing day and we love when the big kids get involved with the tube ride! It is the BEST alongside the jump off the boat. Such an awesome experience for everyone :)

Thanks for the review, Janet. Whilst we're happy to accept another 5 star review, you didn't actually travel with us as we don't run a full day tour. Happy for you to delete this review, as it's not ours. It'd be great for you to come on Whalesong one day though, to see our fabulous half day cruise! Many thanks Rebecca

From the moment we stepped on board to the moment we stepped off- we loved every minute.
The crew are very welcoming and accomodating, this experience was so much more then just a trip to Fraser! From snorkelling to tubing and kayaking to supplying beach toys for the little children and ensuring the adults weren’t without a drink of their choice whilst kicking back on the gorgeous white sands of the island. We can’t fault this cruise and consider it well worth what you pay for! The bbq lunch was ample enough to curb the hunger after a couple of hours on the beach and we are very thankful for this experience. Family friendly boat and clean amenities- We will be back! What a fantastic way to spend our day.

This was a last minute booking for us as there was a mix up by our tour operator and our proper full day K'gari tour got cancelled.
We had a good time all in all. The staff were friendly and the cruise was fairly smooth. 3 of us did the dingy ride which was good fun. There were a few rain downpours but we managed to shelter and it didn't spoil the day.
Lunch back on the boat was a bit disorganised and it set off before many of us had finished eating and how windy it was made it quite impossible to enjoy it fully.

We are generally not tour takers but we loved loved loved this 5 hour tour. Take nothing... do nothing... except swim, kayak and play at a gorgeous deserted pristine beach. Oh wait! Theres more!Free smoko and lunch. Bar service available all day. The staff do everything possible to make you relax, and relax you do. Go on... DO IT!
