About
The Margaret River Kayaking and Winery Tour is not your standard Margaret River Wine Tour. At Surf N’ Dirt Adventure Tours we like to start the day with a Kayaking Adventure in the morning before spending the afternoon enjoying the finest wines, gourmet produce and natural wonders that Margaret River has to offer.
Unlike the big bus tours, we pride ourselves on exploring the hidden gems of the region and offering unique ‘behind the scenes experiences’ which aren’t available to everyone.
Another added benefit of this tour is that you have the option of requesting the Margaret River Wine and Adventure Tour wonder dog- Mojo- to come along and join in on the fun. He loves people, is great with kids and has a real passion for kayaking, swimming and wine touring.
If you are the type of person who wants a fun, relaxed wine touring experience without the crowds then this is the tour for you.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Lene-Christine K0 contributionsGreat tour!“All great adventures starts with a dirt trail” What a great tour and such an amazing guide. Loads of knowledge and experience and eager to share and ensure that the entire family had a great day. Hidden gems in the Margrete River area, which can seem hard to find. Great value for money, and a clear recommendation from us.Written 4 January 2025
- Sazmoore0 contributionsBest of the South WestWhat a fantastic adventure filled day. Paul is an incredible tour guide who is very friendly, relaxed and knowledgeable about the area. We loved the 8 km adventurous trail bike ride in Wooditjup National park, with options to try some log jumps! No better way to finish with a Tim Tam. The Kayak on the Blackwood river was another highlight, so peaceful and serene with a cool swim ready for our delicious lunch at the delightful Berry Farm. The wine tasting at Brown Hill was a relaxed and intimate. As locals taking our family out we discovered new spots, learnt more about loving where we live and showcasing our Southwest to family. Thank you Paul for a wonderful day.Written 2 January 2025
- Kellie M0 contributionsFun, adventure which included food and wine. From pick-up to drop-off, this tour was jam packed with a mix of adventure, downtime and great food and wine. - NewZealandJen0 contributionsBrilliant day outThey say a tour guide makes or breaks a trip... Paul certainly made ours. Great guy who was very knowledgeable of the area. We started our day with mountain biking through a national park, followed by a kayak trip on the margaret river. Great lunchat the beautiful berry farm and finished with a very enjoyable wine tasting at Brown Hill Estate, lots of laughs were had xx. Thanks Paul for a fun filled day...you were awesome xWritten 30 November 2024
- 450wayner0 contributionsBest thing to do in the Margaret River.Wow what a day ! This tour as made my holiday. Mountain biking on ace single track, then a sort drive to blackwood river where we we spent over an hour kayaking on an empty river. But to top it all off a stop at Berry Farm for lunch which was very nice and wine tasting at Brown Hills winery. Magical. I would highly recommend if in the Margaret River region.👍Written 19 November 2024
- Pam R0 contributionsWOWWOW, WOW, WOW What an amazing day we've had. From the moment Paul picked us up this morning until dropping us off at our door it's been AMAZING. Paul is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his surroundings and country. He puts you at ease from the first smile and hand shake. The day has been absolutely perfect. We did mountain biking first, the ride is pitched at your ability and I oved it. I'm not a mountain biker bit felt safe, comfortable and under no pressure. The kayaking was the same. I've never been in one before but after instructions from Paul I felt comfortable. Berry's Farm makes THE most delicious food, I had the vegetable tart and my hubby had the beef pie, both delicious. Afterwards we went to Brown Hill winery. Nic who did our wine tasting was lovely. We told her our wine tastes and she chose the wines we tasted perfectly. Can't recommend enough, today has been the highlight of our holiday here. Thank you Paul for an amazing day, we loved it.Written 19 November 2024
- mariatF884NL0 contributionsWonderful action packed and fun filled day out.Paul planned the perfect day for us as a family of 4, the activities were appropriate for our children (5&7) and they loved experiencing kayaking for the first time and cycling along the Margaret river. They loved the sense of adventure. Paul took us to the Berry Farm for lunch which was delicious and had a great park for the girls. Paul gave us lots of interesting information about the forest and local area. We loved going into the national parks for a wander. Highly recommended day out!!Written 2 November 2024
- Scenic453007208460 contributionsA day's adventure followed by wine tastingMy brother and I booked this tour because of the variety of activities in one day. We cycled through the Wooditjup National Park after which we had a short break. Then we kayaked down the expansive Blackwood river. All the time we were informed about the local flora and fauna. We then cooled off with a short swim in the river. Afterwards it was lunch at the Berry farm followed by wine tasting at the Brown Hill estate. We had great conversations with Paul, who single handedly ran the tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a one day adventure with variety of activity.Written 29 October 2024
- DrV650 contributionsA brilliant tour.A splendid day out with Paul, his knowledge and enthusiasm was brilliant. A gentle kayak in the morning followed by a great lunch at Berry Farm then two small vineyards where 26 wines were sampled! One of the best tours we have done for years, I cannot recommend this highly enough. Many thanks.Written 27 October 2024

- mattheweK6571LC0 contributionsWe couldn’t have wished for a better experience! After contacting the company directly we managed to secure a place on this unique multi adventure trip. So pleased we didn’t miss out! Our host was Paul; he was considerate throughout the day and afforded us his great knowledge of the area, history, flora & fauna! The bikes & kayak equipment were all in good order and we felt safely guided throughout the day. The lunch at Berry Farm was wholesome but we loved the visit to Brownhill Estate winery….Chiara taught us how to skillfully taste & select wine! Obe the dog is also worthy of a mention! We thoroughly enjoyed every part of this adventure day trip and would highly recommend contacting Surf’n’dirt tours to plan your adventure.Written 2 October 2024

- Karen A0 contributionsFantastic day!The whole day was well planned and Paul was an excellent guide. The mountain biking route was away from tourists and showed us the real countryside. The kayaking was beautiful and again Paul shared his knowledge of the environment and Australia. Lunch was amazing would recommend the beef pie… delicious!! Lastly the wine tasting was superb and very personal, came away with a few bottles!!!! Thank you Paul, we will definitely be back with friends when we come back to the area.Written 22 February 2024

Paul and Mojo were great! Paul took us to places that we would never have found on our own and had excellent local knowledge, the kayaks we really light and easy to paddle and the winery tour was a brilliant way to end the day. He even took us to Tempa Tempa for the chocolate and it was amazing. Will defiantly do another tour next time I'm down that way!

This was one of the best tours we have been on - Paul was a brilliant guide from the moment I booked, with excellent communication, until he dropped us off at the end of the day. The kayaking experience on the Blackwood River was fabulous - Paul kept us entertained with historical and ecological stories and took photos of us as well. Our lunch at The Berry Farm was delicious and the surroundings stunning. Then on to the two winery tours which were excellent - both provided a great mix of tasting opportunities.
I would urge anyone planning a trip to Margaret River to book this ‘Surf and Dirt’ tour with Paul, who was one of the most friendly and engaging guides we have experienced.

Wow! This was truely one of the best experiences myself and my partner have ever had. Paul really has a great knowledge of the region. He showed us some great natural sites and when we asked he suggested some amazing snorkelling spots in the area.
We had the best time kayaking, enjoying a picnic lunch and wine tasting. We saw dolphins on the river! Paul said in all his time running this tour he’d never seen dolphins in the river.
The wineries Paul took us too were amazing! He takes you to his favourite small, family run wineries in beautiful locations.
Paul is a really down to earth, genuine person and it was a great pleasure to meet and spend the day with himself and Mojo.
When we are back in the area we will definitely be trying the other tours on offer. It’s truely a once in a life time experience!
Thanks so much Paul!

It puts a big smile on my face hearing that you had such an amazing experience and I'm thrilled that you both had such a fantastic day out with Mojo and myself. Experiencing the dolphins swimming under our kayaks 40km upstream from the Southern Ocean is definitely something I will never forget! Fingers crossed that it occurs again sometime.

Paul was an excellent tour guide and the day was a hit! We started the day with a kayak then went for lunch at a local berry farm followed by tastings at two wineries. Would highly recommend for anyone who has limited time in the area, as this tour certainly gave my partner and I a great feel for Margaret River and surrounds in 1 day. Bonus points for Paul’s dog Mojo who accompanied us for part of the tour!

Our kayaking and wine tour in Margaret River was an absolute dream! From start to finish, the day was impeccably organized and brimming with unforgettable moments.
We started with a kayaking adventure through the region’s stunning waterways, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Our two teenagers couldn’t resist turning it into a playful splashing competition, which added laughter and energy to the serene setting.
Lunch at Berry Hill Farms was another standout moment. The picturesque grounds and beautifully prepared meal made it an experience to remember. The food, crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, was simply divine—a true farm-to-table feast that perfectly complemented the day.
The wine tasting at boutique wineries was a highlight as well. Each winery had its own charm, offering not only exquisite blends but also fascinating stories behind their creations. The passion and craftsmanship of the winemakers shone through in every glass.
Our host, Paul, was the cornerstone of this incredible experience. His deep knowledge of the area, warm hospitality, and flawless attention to detail elevated the day to something truly special. He made our family feel completely welcome and ensured everything flowed effortlessly.
If you’re looking for the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and indulgence in Margaret River, this tour is an absolute must. Thank you, Paul, for creating such a memorable day for our family!

We loved the kayaking on the Blackwood River, so beautiful and peaceful. Being retired and less than agile, liked the idea of kayaking but wasn’t sure it was something we could do physically! Paul assured me we would be capable. He was right! The kayaks were very stable and we had a great paddle along this pristine river. As some of our group don’t drink, Paul substituted sightseeing for the winery section of the tour. Paul’s extensive knowledge of the area was awesome and he took us to see hidden gems. A truly beautiful part of the world! We would highly recommend Paul and Surf N Dirt Adventure Tours - friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We had a fabulous day with Paul. Give it a go you won’t be disappointed!

Paul is an exceptional tour leader, knowledgeable, engaging, and warm. The kayaking was great. Not having kayaked for a number of years it was not too arduous, but challenging enough to be fun for oldies like us. The swim afterwards in Chapmans Pool is a must do! WiM Hoff eat your heart out! The lunch at The Berry Farm was a delight and the wineries - Brownhill and Redgate just wonderful. Numerous purchases made! Paul had everything perfectly timed and nothing felt rushed or too short. A tour with Surf N Dirt really is a must do. Thanks Paul. We leave with great memories.

A highlight of our holiday! Paul was so well organised, a great communicator and very generous with his local knowledge. We felt very well looked after. It was brilliant to experience such a pristine corner of the Blackwood River and a contrast to the regular tourist trail. Then a very personal introduction to local winemakers. Great value for money. Don’t hesitate to book this if you have the chance.
