          Great wineries and breweries tour
Great day out. Venues were excellent especially Jarvis winery. Lovely bunch of people on the trip which always helps in my opinion and Dan the driver was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this company

A relaxing day sampling fine wines and beers.
The tour overall was memorable. A well managed small group tour of boutique wineries and breweries. Dan our driver was very good, his knowledge of the region was notable and the itinerary was spot on with a balanced selection of venues. Lunch was provided along with a selection of beers. The charcuterie plate for two was delicious. This tour is highly recommended and our group leader Dan as our designated driver was top notch. A free pick up within the Margaret River area was also included.

          Awsome day out
Very good experience, been to Margs twice and of all tours that I've done this was my favourite, called up the evening before to ask for available spots and the owner allowed myself and a friend to book and pay over the phone quick and easy, wether you're a more classy drinker or you're there to (be that guy and) have some fun, almost everyone is guaranteed to get along in the end, and what made it better was the little things, like at the end the driver allowed us all to make a stop home to leave our wine before taking us all to our desired spot to continue the night with our new mates.

Really Great Day Out - Highly Recommend
Russell was a legend of a tour guide with a great playlist belting through out the day. The wineries and breweries we went to were more than generous with their pouring and the food was good. It was really great value for money and we had the best day. I would definitely go again and would recommend anyone going to Margaret River to do this tour over any other. Thanks Russell you really made the tour.

Bootleg Brewery lost Margies BDO a rating point
This was the second tour we’ve done with them and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again, but Bootleg Brewery needs to come off their default lunch choice. Here’s why I love BDO but why I didn’t rate Bootleg this time. Pros •Wes! Awesome guy, picked us up on time and had the perfect balance of interaction with us. We enjoyed his conversation and company. •Entirely different wineries and breweries on offer this time that we didn’t go to last time (except for bootleg). Jarvis Estate was a winner. Thanks Sara for the education. •Solid six hours. Cons •Chocolate factory is neither here nor there, literally little buttons to sample out of a help yourself dispenser and the visit is purely to buy things. Bootleg Brewery •Platters were fine but no where near as good as they used to be. •They catered to my request for a vegan option but it contained beans (nice), avocado dip (nice) but then just crackers, corn chips and Turkish dip with dukkah, eevo and balsamic. Basically loaded up on cheaper carbs. •Hot chips were nice. •Incredibly unkept, it was old and needs some new life put into it. •Lawn was long and patchy and very uninviting. •Service friendliness needed improving. Appreciate Wes bringing our beers but explanations on tasting notes would have been nice. If I did this tour again I’d make sure I requested not to go to bootleg, as that would be the difference between me booking with/recommending this tour over others.

          Awesome day
Had an awesome day out with 14 of us. Had the bus all to ourselves and was exceptionally hosted by Wayne. He took care of everything for us. All we had to do was drink and eat. Can’t believe we haven’t done this in the past, but will definitely be doing it again Thanks.

          Beer and wine tour
I've been on a few wine tours and thought this one was definately one of the better ones. Very well organised at each winery. Pick up and dropoff at our hotel. Driver was very good and well knowledged. Tasty lunch at the brewery. Good choice of wineries, was nice to see some smaller ones that were off the beaten trail. Definately reccomend this tour.

We had a fantastic day going to some wineries and breweries that we hadn’t been to before! Being chauffeured around without having to worry about driving was great and Wayne our driver for the day was awesome!

          Great Day Out
I organized a private tour for 10 people last week. I rang Russell who was really helpful, made excellent suggestions for which wineries to go to (our favourite was Domaine Naturaliste) and suggested Flutes for lunch. The driver Wayne was great fun and everyone had a fabulous time. I would definitely recommend this great day out! Thanks guys, will organize another tour in March!

Great tour of the areas wineries, Demi and Lola (the puppy) kept the kids company whilst the adults were busy. A good selection of child friendly places chosen and adapted to suit the group. Thanks

          Big Day Out
The tour was great fun and really well hosted by our Driver Wayne. The scheduled winery visits along with the lunch stop at the brewery were all well organised and met some great people on our bus. Top day out and well worth it.

We got our money’s worth on this tour, the drivers went over and above to share info about the region and the brewery’s / winery’s. They were lovely people and would certainly recommend to anyone! All the places they suggested were great, thanks for looking after us Russell & Elliott!

          Disappointing so called wine tour
A bit dissapointing being two couples / friends the only ones on the tour.Driver was good but one winery was so tight with thier tastings & we got the move along for another tour was nothing short of rude. The chocolate factory wasnt a tour or tasting.Just dropped off to sample three lots of choc buds..Crap The farm house brewery was great but wasn't a tour or tasting.Had to pay for everything ourselves. How was this a seven stop paid for wine tour.It wasn't. Better off doing a tour yourself & having $400 to spend on grog.

6 Backpackers had the best tour we could of imagined. Jaime was our saviour during an incredibly hungover morning which turned into an amazing day. The amount of places we visited and the food we ate was great value and i would recommend it to everyone

We created our own itinerary of wineries and lunch venue which was received by Russell one month prior to our booking date and confirmed. However, five minutes prior to the bus arriving on the day, we received a message advising there had been a “screw up” with the booking at our lunch venue, so we were automatically booked into Bootleg Brewery (despite requesting wineries only). Upon getting in the mini bus, Jacinta clarified the fees involved in wine tastings that Russel reportedly advised us of prior (we had no knowledge of this). Jacinta also advised that of the five wineries we selected we would only be visiting two. The remaining three were made up of a different winery and two breweries (without being advised prior to the tour and asked if we would like to visit these). Later in the day we arrived at Bootleg Brewery where we were seated and had two bowls of chips brought to the table (for 8 people) and some basic, small cheese boards to share. There was no option to choose our own lunch from the menu to cater for dietary requirements of people on our tour. There also was not enough food and was more of an afternoon snack, so we all left hungry. Russel was at Bootleg whilst we had lunch and appeared very friendly with Bootleg staff, so it made us wonder if this was a way of making further profit for him.
We were all very disappointed with the above and given the price paid, however Jacinta made the trip so enjoyable for us! Whilst in the wineries, Jacinta spent time calling other venues to find us venues we would enjoy, in between taking hundreds of photos for us all. Jacinta also managed to squeeze in a visit to the chocolate factory and Providore after our disappointing lunch. Jacinta was extremely friendly and genuine and was eager to get to know our tour group which made it feel a lot more personal. Jacinta was empathetic and understanding of our situation and did all she could to ensure we all still had a wonderful day, which we did thanks to Jacinta. We all said we would have bailed on the tour if it wasn’t for Jacinta. She is a credit to Margie’s Big Day Out.
In addition to this, we were reportedly the third group this happened to this week, so please be mindful when booking.

We do our best to try and accommodate requests where possible. I do believe the situation was explained at the time so I don't wish to make this long. We are disappointed we couldn't meet your expectation at this crazy time, happy the Jacinta was able to make some changes for you.

Specifically called the company to get itinerary so I didn't double up on venues (had another tour booked during my stay). After getting in the bus, discovered that the venues we were visiting were different to what I had been messaged.I had planned my trip with the understanding I would be visiting the locations I had been messaged.
There was no introduction by the driver until we arrived to the first venue.
Driver allowed us to choose the music, which would have been good except the age differences between the members meant our tastes were wildly different. It of course ended up that people started skipping through songs before they had finished because they were bored with it, or there was a song that only one group liked. The driver should have had a playlist ready of easy to listen to songs - I was on this tour in Jan 2020 and the driver at that time did this and it was a much better experience.
Winery experiences were OK. Brewery experiences were disappointing. For a brewery tour, there was no tasting of the beers. Driver just brought out entire jugs of one type of beer and would only get another type when it was finished. I would have preferred it treated like the winery, where we had the opportunity to sample all the types. That is why I went on a brewery tour instead of just a winery tour.
At the end of the day, had some random young guys ask the driver if they could get a lift back into town with their bikes as they were tired. Driver didn't ask for anyone's thoughts on it and let them on while everyone squished up to allow their bikes on.
Messaged all these issues to the owner - no response. No apology, or anything.
This tour in 2020 was so good that I came back again, as well as recommending it to others, but this experience will make me not recommend it again.

Hi Scott I understand your frustrations with the day as it didn't go as planned for you. The itinerary needed to be changed as the original venues wouldn't take the number of passengers on the bus. we have installed blue tooth access to the sound system on the bus to allow everyone to play music that they enjoy. Mostly the people are very good about sharing access and also playing music that is generally suitable to everyone. This is a first that there was not a sharing attitude and I may have to rethink that access. Thanks for advising of this problem. As you have been on the tour previously, I'm sure you would have had the pleasure of lunch at Bootleg & the drinks that we bring to the table. We have had the same situation at lunch for many years now. Appreciate the feedback on allowing the young guys the lift back with their bikes. We don't have a problem with this sort of assistance but you are right in saying that it should not have inconvenienced anyone on the bus. I have spoken to the driver about this and he will definitely be talking with the people on the bus before he does anything in the future. Thanks for your feedback Scott we will always try to be better.

We didn’t have a bad day but there are a lot of things this company could do better.

I think maybe they have gotten a little too big or maybe just had an off day as our tour didn’t justify so many good reviews.

3 main issues but I could list more.
        1. We emailed ahead of time of to confirm the list of stops for the day so that we could visit different winery’s when travelling on our the day before the tour. The itinerary we were sent 2 days before the tour was completely wrong. Of the 7 places we were told we were going we only went to 1. We also only visited 5 in total and the last one was just a drop off nothing included.

        2. The lunch was very average (bowl of chips and cheese and biscuits)

        3. We were told before the tour that we would be picked up first but dropped off first to avoid spending extra time on the bus. This was again wrong we were picked up first and dropped off last.

You really get a driver for the day, 3 wine tastings, 1 beer (it’s hard to tell because it just a shot glass that you fill from a jug) and an average lunch.

I would probably score this a 2 out of 10. I really don’t like leaving negative reviews but for how much this costs I think everyone should be aware before they book of what to expect. A taxi or uber would be a much better value as you really just get the driver and a couple of drinks.

I did contact the company directly after the tour to see if there was a reasonable explanation for all of this but it has now been 3 weeks and I haven’t heard back.
        So I guess not.

Hi Jonathon, Thanks for posting a review as it shows we need to improve how we do things sometimes. It is disappointing that you feel it necessary to post it more than once. I did email you the itinerary for your tour, and at that time it was correct, including picking up your group first and dropping them home first. The reason for this was the bookings we had for the day were staying at both your area, Busselton, and Margaret River. On the morning of the tour, there were 5 new bookings. One of these was 45 minutes south of Margaret River and made those plans impractical. I then split the tour, found a driver, and booked a separate tour for your area. That the driver picked you up first and dropped you last, was against the instructions the driver had been given. Under the circumstances, I missed advising you of these changes. I am disappointed in your description of lunch at Bootleg Brewery as we have been going there for years without a complaint. To describe lunch as a bowl of chips with some cheese and biscuits is rather disingenuous, as the description ignores the smoked chicken wings, the cold meat cuts, the squid rings, the salads, bread slices and dips made in house. Guests rarely finish all of the lunch and always compliment me on the amount, quality and variety. The beer offered at lunch are tastings, as advertised, as is the last stop being at your cost. We are on a wine and beer tasting tour. All guests are offered generous amounts of beer for these tastings at Bootleg, and again, I have never had complaints with this. I am sorry you didn't enjoy the tour, and I would love to invite you to tour again as my guest, to have the opportunity to change your views. Thanks for the review Jonathon and I will use your suggestions to improve how we do our tours. Russell Margies big day out

I booked this tour for my partner and I after seeing all the fantastic reviews. Unfortunately it was nothing like the reviews I read. We were given a 25min pick up window and were asked to be out the front waiting. After waiting for 40mins I called and spoke to Russell and asked where they were he said I will call you back. I received no call back and 15 minutes later the bus turned up with no apology for being late.
Everyone on the bus had similar stories of late pick ups, early pick ups and poor communication. We all agreed we would let it go and enjoy the day. However we were then 1 hour late to the first winery so were relegated to the cheap seats and the winemaker couldn’t be bothered with us. The so called guide Alison and driver Tony stayed on the bus and we had to introduce ourselves. At the next winery we arrived (15 of us) and were told by the winemaker that they normally don’t accept groups of more than 10. Again the staff stayed on the bus and we introduced ourselves. This was basically the story for the rest of the day so much so that the last winemaker for which we were an hour late again called our driver in and had a go at him for turning up so late. My two stars are for the great bunch of people we shared the day with and not for the organisation of the tour. It would seem that if Russell is not going to run the tour he should pick some better staff if he wants to stay in business.

We are so sorry for this Shane. I will certainly raise this issue with Russell. Tony is new to us and his actions are not at all what we teach. Alison was there solely to navigate for him. Russell has tried to call you and has e-mailed to no avail. We would be happy to talk to you if you wish to call us. 0416 180 493 or 0405 353 432. Kind Regards Cheryl

Been to Margs heaps before, and been to plenty of wineries in the past. Me and my wife thought we would let someone else do the driving this time, and the organising and just rock up. And that's what you get with Margies BDO. Picked up from the door and dropped off later. By the end of the trip the bus full of strangers weren't strangers. Russel was great, and we had a blast. Considering this is one of the cheaper tours around, and that it is one of the longest running goes to show its worth.
        Highly recommend.
We will be attending again, without a doubt.

My friends and I organised a private wine tour through Russell and had Jacinta as our driver. A week prior to our tour I had received a confirmation of the itinerary of the wineries that my friends and I were excited to see and try. When we got picked up by our driver, she had a completely different itinerary to the one that was confirmed with me 2 weeks prior and had no knowledge of mine. Only one winery that was requested was on there. We also had to pay for our own wine tastings at a winery without prior knowledge and our driver also expected me to know about the charge. We ended up only having 2 free tastings out of the 5 places we visited, and the lunch at Bootleg was very minimal and didn't cater to our dietary requirements. The last stop at Beerfarm was very unorganised without any table bookings and no drink included. This seems to have happened to other people before us and I hope this feedback, like the many others is finally taken on board and used to improve their business.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment. My comments are further to the explanations already expressed. The last stop on all our tours has always been at cost of our passengers. Unfortunately the wineries are putting tasting fees on since Covid-19 and introducing at different times. Most give it back in the purchase of a bottle of wine so is not included in out pricing. We get very positive feedback on the Bootleg lunch however it is understandable that it will not suit everyone all the times. We have taken extra steps to reiterate the terms and conditions that are posted on our website in hopes that everyone has a clear understanding of what we offer as we always hope to give everyone a good day out.

Planned, booked and paid for trip over 2 months ago, confirmed we were to be collected at 10.45am the day before trip. Day of the trip, waiting road side, around 10.30am, out in the bush, no show come 10.45am. 10.57am text to see where they were the bus was, 2 minutes later got a text in response saying the bus will be there shortly. Rang number at 11.24am as still waiting for pick up, told told by 'Russell' that the driver would be there in 15 minutes and that he (Russell) would ring me later that day to discuss . Bus arrived approximately 11.45am, with us having missed the first winery tour. Turns out the Driver had not been told about the 5 of us. Still waiting on a call 3 days later from Russell and no explanation. Redeeming feature was the driver Wayne.

Highly recommend this tour. From organising the trip to our collection and drop off, we were impressed by the level of service. Russell was our driver and he was excellent. We discussed which wineries we would visit in advance but there was always flexibility on the day. Must also thank Russell for mentioning the stingrays at Hamelin Bay. We went to see them the following day and it was a highlight for all of us.

Excited about this tour but let down tbh. I love dogs but the bus smelt of drivers dog and a wine tour in this area you expect some class, at least a little. Dog hair everywhere. People do get dressed up sometimes for these tours. Driver was nice guy but totally disinterested in whole tour and non informative about anything. Tastings at 3 wineries were average and third winery we had to pay for tasting anyway! Lunch was ok but a tour we did a few months back was same lunch at Bootle brewery.. At least on that tour we got a heap of drinks. At Bootleg we had a shooter of each beer to taste. Last stop, Wild Hop Brewery, no drinks inlcuded. So all in all 5 stops, 2 tastings at wineries and equivalent of a middy at Bootleg with lunch. BYO music, driver was happy listening to 720 news. Zzzzz. No vibe. Afterwards we had to drive back into Dunsborough to return other passengers so got back into Margs much later than expected. Also - should be noted that if bus full, which our tour was - two people will be on single seats, which sucked for us being a couple. Wouldn't recommend, sorry.

We are very sorry that you didn't enjoy the tour. We always enjoy the feedback as it does help us with making the tour an enjoyable experience for all. Interesting comment with the music as most people love having the opportunity to choose their own.

The day started fine we were picked up on time as we were the only two on the tour then proceeded to our first stop Jarvis winery where we were introduced to Sara which was very informative as she provided tastings and information re the running and produce from the winery. Our next stop was lunch, Wes our driver asked whether we would like to visit more wineries or breweries we advised we would visit based on his recommendations as we mentioned that we weren't that big on wine and that we did the beer brewery tour last year which we enjoyed. Arrived at our lunch stop which was Black brewery our driver escorted us in, then we were asked to pick a meal off the menu to which neither of us would have intentionally dined as there was nothing that appealing so here where it continues to go downhill. Driver places our orders for lunch then retreats back to the mini bus after some brief conversation, no gourmet lunch as advertised, no beer or cider tasting with lunch as advertised. After completing our not so good lunch the driver reappears so we can continue our journey next stop Wild Hop brewery dropped off in the carpark we had 45 mins to do as we please then back on the bus next stop Cowamamup brewing dropped off in the car park 45 mins again back on the bus next stop and last Colonial brewing dropped off in the car park you guessed it 45mins back on the bus our driver stayed in the bus the whole time we had no beer commentary or any further tasting after our first stop nor did we visit any Cheese or chocolate tasting as described. Everything advertised very little delivered and very over priced for what we got as it cost a lot more than I anticipated having to purchase all of our drinks for the afternoon.
Very disappointed and definitely wouldn't recommend this tour which is unfortunate as there seems to be a lot of positive reviews but didn't deliver on this occasion.

Thanks for the review Geoff. Disappointed that you saw the tour in this way as your driver Wes asked many times which venues you would like to visit, including if you wanted to visit the Chocolate Factory & Cheese tastings. Obviously not your type of tour.
