#4 of 9 Boat Tours & Water Sports in Margaret River
- jimr0bins00A fabulous day out, great fun!We had a fabulous day. Our guide Greg was both very knowledgeable and entertaining, and I can't recommend this tour highly enough.
- TGIH00Do not do the brewery tour - False Advertising! The website suggests that on the brewery tour you will enjoy 14 tastings of beer and spirits, specifically stating you will be sampling more than 10 beers. When we got on the bus it was clear we had been combined with a winery tour group and were to receive the same tour as them, even though we paid more for the brewery tour. Throughout the day we got to sample a total of three beers and no spirits. To accommodate the other group we visited a winery so had to sit around while the other members of the tour tasted wine. At the distillery, only some creamy liqueurs were offered, not spirits as advertised. Again, presumably to accommodate the winery tour guests. If you are wanting a brewery tour around Margaret River, highly recommend not going with this company as you may be left disappointed.
- batchof9600Must know how to row, not for novices! We went on a day that the waters were very choppy with wind and heavy rain. We were expecting a walk/hike as well(which was a misconception!) so wore sneakers which got totally wet. Suggest wearing only slippers/thongs. Instructions on how to row are for just a couple of minutes, so for those who have not rowed before, it’s not a great idea to start here as the whole group of canoes have to move together and it’s no fun struggling to figure out how to steer the boat when everyone is waiting for you. The lunch is interesting with native ingredients but the spreads for the sandwiches may run out. The rain ponchos provided do not stand up to wind so in rainy weather, best to wear tight caps/ beanies to not get wet. On a good weather day, with the right know-how, it’s a great experience with lots of local stories and information provided by the guides. In poor weather with novices in rowing, not so great.
- Madbiker5500Great tour with fabulous foodWe did the wine tour with a friend and it was great. We visited 4 wineries, the chocolate factory and a brewery. At the first winery we spent time getting to know the group and Greg spent time telling us the best way to taste the wine to help with the rest of the day. There was a great selection of wines at every winery and all the hosts were really great at telling us about their wines. The highlight for me was the food. We were not expecting such a spread, but it was so good to try all the different things Australia had to offer.
- Sarah T00The best fun wine tour we have ever been on. Can’t recommend enough. What an absolute fabulous day from start to finish. As we got on the bus, everyone is introduced to each other, so we all start talking straight away. It made for a very fun and relaxed day, making new friends along the way . The vineyards were outstanding and we have never tasted so many wines in one day. The lunch so different and so good to be able to taste these unusual products . Absolutely delicious. This tour was recommended to us and we will be passing the recommendation on.
- T2578MKlindad00HIghly recommended tourWe had a lovely day which was booked with friends visiting from the UK. Our friend was celebrating a special birthday and he was presented with a bottle of wine to celebrate. We were returning clients and also received bottle of wine. These were much appreciated and a nice touch. We visited several wineries as well as the chocolate factory and a brewery. Our guide was Greg he was very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. Greg served lunch at one of the locations and explained what each dish was, this was a great opportunity for our guests to try local dishes. The day wasn't rushed at all we had sufficient time at each stop and Greg went out of his way to drive us to see kangaroos at the end of the tour. Greg is a great ambassador for Bushtuckers. No doubt we will be returning, hopefully with more visitors.
- TraceyC6200A wonderfully different wine tour experienceThis was a very different wine tour and was very enjoyable. We did the usual wineries and chocolate store, but the wine tasting was of wines and liqueurs and very personally done. Lunch was bushtucker meats, condiments, fruits and berries, and very tasty. Would highly recommend this tour.
- elvisw0ng00Nice but very rushed!Very nice tour with an excellent guide. The downside is that we are very rushed from one place to another. The tour guide was rushing us to be on the bus. I actually had to chug my beer at the brewery to get on the bus. I think they should take one stop out of the tour to give us time to enjoy each place we visit.
- Socket1000Worth doing!!!Brilliant day out. John our guide was lovely. The drinks and food was terrific. Great way to have a taste of the region.
- 320sharond00Wine and tuckerIt was a bit of luck that we chose this tour amongst the many available.... but luck was on our side. This was relaxed, informative and lots of fun. The range of places to visit was the bonus.... each was a little quirky and all were interesting. The group were such fun and the guides really helpful. I would recommend this "Bushtucker" tour to anyone!
- Kate N00Lots of funReally enjoyed our day. Great customer service. Dan was a fantastic guide. Venues visited were fun and tastings were generous. Great day!
- 325claree00Great day out! What a great day! Huge thanks to Maureen, John and Carol, you made our wedding anniversary very special. Only comment is that the tasting at Notting Hill was a little rushed but loved the bushtucker lunch!
- pE6139VZ00Go and enjoy!Loved the guide and views were amazing. Wine is very dry. Food was okay. Everything else made up for it
- 2012Eileen00Bushtucker Tours is the reliable tour company that provides a genuine Australian experienceThis is my second time with Bushtucker Tours and I can’t fault them. Maureen who took our booking was efficient and helpful and even ended up picking us up from our accommodation on time. John who was our tour guide was a character and so full of knowledge of Bushtucker food, local history and events and of course had connection with the families that ran the wineries. He even sang us a great folk song and we all joined in on the bus. What a guy! The wineries chosen weren’t the big ones which is good as you got personal attention and got to taste a lot of white, red wines and liqueurs. I would highly recommend tour which thanks to Helen the owner has given me and my friends great memories.
- thommo28800Great Margaret River tour!!Fantastic day with a small group of people. We visited a number of wineries and a brewery and had generous tastings at all. A yummy bushtucker lunch was enjoyed by all of us! Would thoroughly recommend to visitors to Margaret River!

I'll start by saying that this tour is great for all ages and skill levels. The tour is more about discovery of the local lore, flora, fauna, and experiencing some local swimming holes. Our guide Kim was very knowledgeable and able to explain things in a way so both kids and adults wanted to hear more.
The canoeing is pretty simple and a mix of people helps to keep the paddling interesting. There are a lot of things to see and experience both in the canoe and out. We all enjoyed the lunch session where Kim laid out some local edible plants and had each of us try them. Even a couple that were not great tasting were worth the experience.
Advice: Bring lots of sunscreen, hats, swimsuit, and be ready to relax.

We decided to go last minute and great decision it was !
There was only 3 of us and we shared the canoe trip with our excellent tour guide Dan
He was so nice very helpful and informative
He showed enthusiasm and enjoyment in his work and made us feel welcome .
We hope to get Dan again when we try the beer and wine tours next .
Only criticism would be for the money you pay , that the company offer a bottle of water fir each of us , would be nice gesture to go with the lovely picnic We were however offered water in cups at least .

We had this tour 2 weeks ago, and we were very lucky to have Helen did the tour for our group.
She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate tour guide, she also looked after everyone very well.
We were not only enjoyed the amazing view from the river but also learned lots from her conversation!
Also the bush tucker picnic was definitely a highlight, so unique and so tasty !
This is a great way to explore the Margaret River, we would highly recommend this tour!
It was a fantastic experience. Thank you once again!

We did this tour about 12 years ago as a couple and as far as I remember it was during the cooler months.
We had a ball then and this year we decided to go as a family with my 8 year old daughter.
We had the privilege of having Helen the owner of the Bushtucker tours in out canoe and she kept us informed about the fantastic history of the Bussell family and the early history of settlement in the area along with her amazing knowledge of all the local plants and what they era used for.
After a refreshing swim in the beautiful river we had a fantastic buffet lunch made from a lot of the above mentioned plants, it was beautiful and I can honestly say there wasn't anything that I didn't like.
Do yourself a favor and book this trip, I can happily say we would do it again and again.

Outstanding service and fantastic tour very very informative, would HIGHly recommend for all levels of fitness and interest. Very knowledgeable tour guide who set a comfortable pace and held a thoroughly enjoyable picnic with bush tucker on the banks of the river.
We will be back with the rest of our family at our next possible family trip.

We LOVED the Bushtucker Canoe Tour. Greg was such a great leader and so knowledgeable. He also put together an amazing bush tucker lunch for us, everything was delicious! We don’t often do tours but can highly recommend this one - our guide, the length of the tour, the food - all a 10/10 for us.

July is wintertime, but don't let that put you off. Jason was a great guide; he was fun, knowledgeable, and safe. He engaged our teenage girls and the younger children of a family who were also on the trip. We had local history, stories, legends and nature pointed out to us. We also saw the resident osprey. We were told about the uses for certain plants, used leaves to make soap to wash our hands - all the kids loved this (and adults). The lunch was yummy, and all sourced from the Bush. Next time we're back, we will definitely try one of their wine tours.

We are a part of all that we have come our way.
Adventure is the joy of having everything to discover, no chains tied to any habits, just the freedom and ability to enjoy new things to discover.
How many windows, how many eyes, how many roads, how many lives are discovered in an adventure. For me and Giorgio this experience was an adventure, it was getting to know, touch, listen, smell, taste and feel inside the place that we are lucky enough to visit.
The guys who have guided us are full of energy and enthusiasm and very aware and proud of their work. Thank you

We were not sure what to expect on this experience but we all loved it. Our guide Perre, was very patient with everyone's canoeing and was fantastically informative about the history of Margaret River and surrounds. This is an experience everyone would enjoy regardless of age or rowing ability. Very safe and easy day with frequent stops. Lunch was so good and again, so much explained about the local bush tucker food and there was plenty of it. Feeding the black brim was great fun.
Great to experience because Margaret River is not all about wines!

Tony, our guide, made this a fantastic experience all round. His knowledge of the flora and fauna on the Margaret River, the local history and the contents of the bush tucker lunch, made the the day interesting and fun. The paddling was easy with four of us doing it so we got a long way upriver before stopping for a superb lunch on the riverbank.
All in all one of the best tours we’ve done, and we’ve done a lot! Cannot recommend highly enough; if you do nothing else whilst visiting Margaret River, do this!!

I think this is a standard tour along the river with no extended options Its well worth it though - really amazing tour with heaps of local information and fabulous bush food to try.

My best guess - yes ............ the meat / cheese was kept separate from the other items ... we had dips and a wonderful bread --- rice cakes were provided IF you were gluten free. Of course, I didn't know the ingredients of the dips ..... there was fruit .. while the food was a good portion of the experience -- there is more than just eating the food - sourcing and aboriginal food history was very interesting ...........

What is the cost per person? We are visiting the area in April for my husband's 70th birthday - it is a big family group (10 adults and 8 children) - what would the approximate cost be?

I can't exactly remember what the canoe trip cost but it wasn't extravagant and included lunch. The guide was really good with one family with young children and a timid elderly grandmother so I can thoroughly recommend it for a family outing. There are 3 man canoes and much bigger ones, and on our trip the guide went in a big canoe with the above-mentioned family.
