    Exceptional day
This tour was absolutely fantastic. A little hiccup at the begining which was very quickly and very professionally rectified by Jan. A wonderful and also educational day hosted by Jan. The winery destinations were all top notch and lunch was delicious. We would highly recommend this tour with Jan especially if you are interested in Tasmania’s sparkling wine.

    The best ever wine tour!
This private tour was the best we have ever been on throughout Australia and we have done a few. Jan is the best and taught us so much that we had no idea about. His local history knowledge is amazing and we stopped off on many occasions to get amazing photos of the scenery that were postcard worthy. Thanks again Jan.

    Raconteur extraordinaire
Yesterday we went on the Tamar Valley Food & Wine Boutique Tours wine trip recommended by Jude at the Grand Hotel. What an experience - Jan the owner, driver, raconteur extraordinaire, historian and wine aficionado kept us informed and entertained the whole day. We tasted amazing wines & world award winning gin, saw picturesque countryside and even stopped to view a tiny Bilby Jan had spotted on the roadside. Definitely the highlight of our 11 day trip!. Donna and I highly recommend the Tour.

A great experience Jan is an amazing guide with knowledge about his new home. The winerys visited were small family owned with Jan giving us a history of their development and the microclimates and wines were a great example of grape variety and winmakers interpretation. Highly recommend this tour for those who want a day out without having to ride/drive.

Visit Tamar Valley on this full day Boutique Winery Tour
Had a great day on the this Tamar Valley wine tour with Jan. He looked after us well, he is very passionate about Tasmanian wines and Tamar Valley region. He loves to share his knowledge of this lovely region and you are sure to finish the tour having learnt many fun facts. Wineries were all lovely and as Jan knew many of the wine makers of the area they had a fun and welcoming atmosphere. As well as all the lovely wine tasting we also had a lovely platter board lunch at Small Wonders and visited a gin distillery, Beaconsfield Brewery and a Cherry farm.

    Historical food and wine tour
This is more than just a food and wine tour. Jan, the tour guide, is very knowledgeable about the environment, history and wine; and loves sharing it with whomever. He knows each of the vineyard owners and has inside information about the places you visit. It's a great tour and I can not recommend it enough if you're in the area, even if you're not super into wines. You will enjoy the tour and learn a thing or five about wines.

    A Fantastic Day Trip
We loved this day trip!..Like the website says this is far more than a wine tour. Our guide Jan, commenced by giving us an overview and information about grapes, wine, and production. It was a bit like a wine appreciation class! The whole tour was informative, entertaining and fun, showcasing the beautiful Tamar Valley. Jan shared many stories about Tasmania, history, vineyards, tassy animals and other things. During the day we visited 4 cellar doors, carefully selected by Jan, and they were all fantastic. We had a beautiful grazing plate at one of them for lunch; all local produce and delicious. A stop at a gin distillery further enhanced our knowledge. Even if you are not really into wine, as is my partner, its still a great day. We would highly recommend it.

    A tassie experience worth doing!
We chose this tour based on the other reviews that were posted and this tour did not disappoint. My husband and I have been on a wine tour or two but this one was top of the list. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Not only did we visit some beautiful wineries but Jan our host provided us with so much knowledge of Tasmania as well as stopping at some hidden gems along the way. Will definitely be back to do another tour soon.

    Couldn’t recommend more
We spent a wonderful day with Jan yesterday and highly recommend it to anybody visiting the Launceston area. Rarely is a guide so delighted to be taking us around, so interested in not only the wine but the history of the area, the natural beauty and also in us. He looked after us perfectly, adapting the tour to our individual interests and seemingly having great knowledge in every possible aspect. We also loved the venues he’d chosen. All were beautifully remote boutiques where we were often the only patrons and had full access to the winemakers. We were charmed by Jan’s company and would have done the tour twice over given the chance. Thank you Jan! Lauren, Stu and James

    A tour with more!
Jan is clearly passionate about what he does and this shines through in his tour. We had a truly fabulous day, great food and wine and gin, but what made it truly memorable was Jan’s detours, story-telling, knowledge of local history and personal touches. Do yourself a big favour, this is an experience not to be missed!

We've basically had a private tour with Jan around Launceston. He picked us up and dropped us at the same place we were staying at, so there was no need to deal with transport at all. The tour started at 9am and ended at 5pm. Jan was guiding us through vineyards the whole time adding interesting historic facts about Launceston and surroundings. It was not just about the wine itself but we also stopped to see few lookouts, historical places, went for a berries picking and local beer and gin tasting and still managed to get drunk till 5pm :) Lunch in form of tasting plate was made from the local food and was enough to fill 4 empty stomachs. Amazing experience. I would highly recommend it to all my friends or even a families as Jan was able to fully adapt to our needs. 5/5

We had such an amazing day with our tour guide Jan. The day was jammed packed with beautiful boutique wineries, berry picking, olive oil tasting, and gin tasting. We never felt rushed along and loved the opportunity to meet the winemakers, which is a rare treat. Jan is very knowledgeable in Tasmanian history and shows a true passion in his work. I would highly recommend this tour when you visit Tamar Valley, you will feel very pampered by the end of the day.

WOW!! The many 5 star ratings speak for themselves. This day was absolutely fabulous. Jan is a fantastic host and absolutely bent over backwards to give us the most wonderful experience. He kept us entertained with his stories and knowledge of the region's history, and is passionate about the area and the local community (so much so, we are now in love with the area and hope to return very soon). Not to mention great food and wines. If you're thinking about doing it, we can highly recommend it.

Our anniversary vacation started off badly with no rental cars available (in all of Launceston and surrounding areas) so we had to book last minute tours to get around....we did get to see a few amazing things but then COVID happened and we (being from Brisbane) had to go into to self-isolation for a few days. Once we received our negative results and were allowed back into the community, there was a slight hiccup with our booking but Jan fixed everything and was kind enough to do the tour on our very last day (Easter Sunday). Thank you Jan, it was the highlight of our whole vacation.

I didn't realise that you had so many difficulties on your vacation. I am totally in love with Tasmania and it is my biggest joy to share the history, stories and of cause the wines and produce of this unique region. I would love to see you back. Warm regards Jan.

We were lucky enough to have Jan all to ourselves for the day. So much local information and friendly owners were met throughout the tour. Jan too, time to understand what types of wines we enjoyed before taking off into the valley
This tour is not only great value but generous in connections with both Jan and the locals. Thanks

Thank you Jane. I appreciate your review and kind words more than you would understand. You go out with visitors and you give them a day filled with experiences, extra information about the region, the history and knowledge about wines and hope it will make a difference to their holiday and memories of this beautiful Island State. Your friendship throughout the day was heartwarming. I truly hope you enjoy the rest of your travels and go home to tell your friends about your highlights. Thank you. Kind regards. Jan.

My daughter and her boyfriend were due to come on holiday to Tassie and he rang and asked me if I could help him organise his proposal. He knew she wanted to get married at a winery so I thought I should ring around to find someone to take us on a wine tour to see a few places and perhaps assist with this romantic proposal.

I found Jans website and looked at his profile and reviews and thought this is the man! After a quick call to Jan and a brief description of what I wanted he was excited to get involved in this special day - I think he is a romantic at heart so he didn’t see this as work.

He took all the stress out of organising the day and had some great ideas to add as well. His photographic background was a welcomed bonus to capture the special day. I mean of course you want to have evidence of an amazing experience don’t you?

I have done a few wine tours before but nothing like this. The information that Jan gave us on wines and Tasmanian history is something I shall never forget. The way he loves what he does shows in every aspect of the day.

Jan is part of the wine family here in Northern Tasmania for sure. He certainly isn’t just a tour operator. From getting in and helping the winery’s out he is like one of their family members.

If you want something different - out of the box then definitely call Jan to help out. I know his normal winery tours are fabulous and are raved about but having a specialised tour was out of this world.

I cannot thank you enough Jan - you will forever be remembered in our family history as will the fact that platypus don’t have stomachs 😉

Oh, the platypus 🤣🤣🤣. Yeah, happy to hear you had an amazing day. When you called me I knew this would be awesome!!! You are an amazing mum and you went out of your way to create this amazing day for your daughter. She can be extremely proud of you as a mum. I will forever remember this as the "pop the question" tour. Oh, and Stanley send his greetings 😂. ( The name Graham gave my "step" for visitor's easy access into the bus.) Thank you for involving me, it was my pleasure!!!

Terry our guide was very knowledgeable, personable and informative. Terry throughout the day, provided insights and background to the vineyards and their owners history in a relaxed manner. The lunch was delicious and exceeded expectations (can highly recommend the Ducks restaurant). The highlight for us was the Swinging Gate Vineyard experience and their fabulous wines, especially the Pinot Gris “ Skinny” , the like of which we haven’t tasted before. We can highly recommend this tour if you are a wine lover.

We toured on February 9 2023 and were fortunate there was only one other couple, who we got along with very well.

Jan picked us up from our accommodation at Duck Reach promptly and we were on our way to the first stop, Velo winery. We arrived before opening so had time for a better introduction to each other and expectations for the day. Jan is an affable and engaging guide and I found him easy to relate to.

We then moved on to Turners Stillhouse ( Three Cuts gin) to learn a bit more about Gin making and taste 2 free gins. There is an option to pay $5 each to taste 3 other gins (which you can share with your friend/partner) and it’s good value.

We were then off to Small Corners winery for lunch (shared platter between 2) and tasting of wines over lunch. The platter is okay, could be a bit better targeted to individual needs / tastes in my view as there were things we just didn’t touch, which is both a waste and make you feel like you didn’t get what you wanted. That said, quantity of most things was fine. There are around 8 wines to taste which isn’t necessary and adds to the stop feeling longer than needed.

There are a couple of stops at scenic places and the history is interesting, Jan certainly knows his stuff, so you can be assured of some good content during the day.

Definitely a good experience and worth recommending.

Hello Rob. Thank you for your review and the effort you made to write a detailed feedback of your experience. You and Liz are two special people and I was just happy to be out with two great couples for the day. The weather decided to play along so it helped. Thank you for the interesting conversations we had. I've definitely learnt from you too. I was particularly Impressed with you and Liz who had to navigate some unexpected 4x4 detours but took it on the chin and made the best of it. I hope you could walk back to look at the Echidna up closer. Thank you for your kind words. Take care. Enjoy the East Coast. Kind regards. Jan.

WOW! What a great day tour with Jan. We were able to visit some exceptional wineries, a gin distillery, a berry farm and an olive farm. As well, Jan gave us some history and information along the way about the area. His stories were fantastic and Jan moved at our pace and didn't hurry us at all. As a bonus we were able to visit a little Swiss village. This has been the best experience of our stay in Tasmania so far. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to take a wine tour that has so much more than the normal tour. Jan was professional and has a passion for his work.

It is for me about Tasmania, its heritage, history, its stories and magnificent flora and fauna. On top of that, the experience where you can meet the wine makers and hear their stories and see their passion. Your review pleased me because it ticket the boxes. Thank you again. Jan’s tour is truly wonderful! Jan’s storytelling, knowledge, and warm personality made this tour unique and special. A great mix of vineyards and a fab lunch to go with it. Jan clearly has a great relationship with all the winemakers on the tour and therefore is able to tell you things you might have missed on your own and experience the Tamar like a local. Thanks for a great day, Jan, you go above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great day!
