Fantastic day trip - even if you aren’t a wine drinker!
We were picked up in a luxurious, spacious, air conditioned bus which was a great start because it was a very hot morning. The driver was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and also very friendly. The winery’s we went to were fantastic, myself and my brother aren’t wine drinkers but we loved learning about how they are all made, all the facts and information behind the wines, and I have to say we both enjoyed tasting majority of the wines which was a nice surprise! We had lunch included in the trip which was lovely, one of the wineries had cheeses and the other had chocolates, cannot go wrong! Genuinely each one of us very much enjoyed ourselves hence the 5 start review.

          Good experience, if somewhat rushed
Good experience. The driver took good care of us, making sure we felt comfortable, and very good time management. The trip to Iron Gate Vineyard was engaging, and we had lots of fun. Lunch was ok, typical cafe menu. The cheese + wine and gin tasting were fine. The chocolate pairing experience was a bit underwhelming, we were left to consume the chocolate and wine on our own with no explanation or briefing. Expect to drank a lot of booze for the day ...

          Fun day out!
We had a fabulous day out in the Hunter Valley and thoroughly enjoyed the wineries (especially Tempus Two) and distillery we visited. Lunch at 4 Pines Brewing company followed by the cheese and wine pairing/tasting was a highlight. Our guide/driver Peter was full of facts and humour and it’s nice that he obviously enjoys the day out too. Comfy Mercedes bus. Well worth the trip as you get to see some of the outer suburbs and the beautiful countryside too!

Well curated but ride can be hot and sultry
The trip is well curated and we ended up tasting 25+ wines through the day. The wine and cheese experience as well as the production tour were the highlights of the day. It's incredibly good value for money. We even had a photo op with some wild kangaroos! Lunch is a good quantity and you can choose from a set menu. The vehicle is a Mercedes mini bus and they carry full capacity per trip so that's 14 pax with 2 riding in front with the driver. The ride can get a little hot with the ac getting frequently turned off (to save fuel, I'm guessing) and can be pretty stuffy in the last row. The driver (Tom) was cheery but his sense of humor is a little off and time management could be a little better. But all in all, it was a great trip.

          Excellent tour for wine enthusiasts!
Amazing tour of The Hunter! Accurate to the description to a T and we had a fantastic time! Just a thought - if you’re coming from Sydney, be aware it is a 2-2.5hr drive in a Sprinter van each way, so if you’re not an enthusiast or connoisseur OR you get carsick easily you might not feel that’s worth the time or ride to get out there and back.

          Amazing tour!
I love that Tom, our very cool tour guide and the organizers were quick to take actions when some part of the tour had been affected by Covid19. Also, the pace of the tour was perfect. We had just the right amount of time to enjoy every place we went to.

Had such a fantastic day on this tour . Visited 3 wineries , which I probably would have never visited . The tour includes wine, cheese and chocolate tasting , as well as a distillery visit . It also includes lunch and a drink - great value . The tour guide Cheeks was so funny and knowledgeable and made the tour a blast !

          Great Day Tour from Sydney
My husband and I joined this tour as part of a TripADeal getaway. Our driver Tom was fantastic, very experienced and professional with a great sense of humour....and safe driver!! Our little group of 8 people got on so well, it was like we were old friends by the end of the day. We visited 3 wineries and a distillery and did both cheese and chocolate pairing at 2 of the wineries. The restaurant lunch with wine (of course) was delicious, our 12 Hr slow cooked Beef Cheeks were delicious. It was a wonderful day out with people who also liked a wine, and who laughed and giggled and chatted a lot!

We were in a group of 4 on the bus which carried 18 in our entire group. Our group of 4 were the oldest over 50, but we are young at heart. We had a fantastic time with the young people on the bus all under 30. The wine tour was very informative, particularly the young girl hosting the tour at de Iuliis - top marks to her. The cheeses were fabulous and likewise the chocolates. The distillery was really great. Money well spent.

Our favourite parts were the distillery and the cheese and wine tasting.

Tom was an amazing host driver and would definitely recommend this company to anyone I know that are coming up towards the Hunter Valley.

I wouldn't change a thing about this trip at all, the entire experience was great. We really enjoyed ourselves.

This is the second Zephers tour I have done in the Hunter, this time bringing along a friend from overseas. I have also done other tours in the Hunter but this one is always the most fun - we had Sam as our guide (Jan 2020) and he was funny, helpful and kept the spirits high in the group (and provided great tunes), he made the trip even more fun. As before, we went to some great wineries (the Hunter Valley Resort is the stop I always enjoy least, but the cheese is great and all the other tours stop here too) but don't let that stop you. You will drink great wine (and learn lots about the region and wine itsefl), you will enjoy great cheese & lunch, taste vodka and have a chance to b some chocs, all whilst enjoying amazing views of this beautiful region - and you will have heaps fun, meet a great group of around 20 people and enjoy your whole day. We always choose to drive up and stay in Hunter, but we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour! Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the 5 stars, and it's great to hear you enjoyed your second trip with us, just as much as the first. We feel honoured that you chose us again to showcase the Hunter Valley to your friend. Sam is a great guide, and it's no surprise to hear he made the day fun for you. We appreciate he recommendation, and hope to see you again soon for another exciting adventure, perhaps on one of our tours with our sister companies, Colourful Trips and Dave's Tours. We'll be sure to pass on your kind words to Sam. Cheers

The day was fine - no issues. But I have certainly had more enjoyable wine tours in the Hunter. Meant to finish at 4, didn’t get back to the hotel til after 5. Tour guide was very laid back but meant that we missed our afternoon activity booked through the hotel. Didn’t go to the best wineries, only visited 3-4 in 7 hours. Lunch was nice but overall I don’t think it was worth the $358 for 2 people when in reality I could have just driven us around for the same result (the amount of
Alcohol consumed today meant I would still be able to drive). I am not sure if Easter crowds have affected this review.

Thanks for your review. We're sorry you missed your activity. Our driver was unaware you had another commitment immediately after the tour, otherwise he would have changed the order of drop offs to get you back earlier. Being Easter Saturday all venues were extremely busy so it did make for several delays. One of our cellar doors is James Halliday rated, but we understand people's tastes vary.

The Tour was running late so felt like it was extremely rushed throughout the whole experience, The driver was telling the wine tasters and guides that they needed to be quicker and hurry up. Chocolate tasting was pretty much non existent and cheese tasting was rushed and extremely quick with no explanation from operator. Lunch provided was good however and bus was very comfy

Really enjoyed the tour. It was my second time and we only went to two places that were the same, but at these we tried different wines and cheeses in different sections of the winery, so it felt like completely new tour. Our driver Mark was so lovely! Very knowledgeable about the area, whilst also being fun and charismatic. The food at lunch was delicious and excellent quality. We got a taste of such a range of spirits, wines, beers, cheeses and chocolates. It was a great way to get a good broad view of what the Hunter Valley has to offer.

A great day that delivered everything it promised! Went to some great wineries which were very informative and learnt a lot about the wine in the Hunter Valley. The cheese and chocolate tastings were also amazing. Our guide Sam was great too, easy going, fun and kept everyone involved the whole day. Would definitely do this tour again and recommend to friends!!

Not the best wine tour to the Hunter Valley winyards. Don’t recommend to anyone.
Driver / Guide always late, in a hurry. Not very pleasant, not funny at all, short in words and explanation about the trip and the area visited.
Also terrible choice of cellar-doors and winyards, not much interested about explaining and selling their own product, with poor quality service and product-tasting.
Disappointed as I have done much better tour in the recent past with local guide.

We booked the wine tour pretty late and it was the best decision we made. An incredibly fun day despite the rain. The driver was friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining. The venues we visited were welcoming and lunch was scrumptious. To top off the great experience, when we stupidly forgot our delicious cheese on the bus (in an esky provided by the driver) he made a special trip back to our accommodation to get it back to us. Highly recommend!
