About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- oliviarY4521EG0 contributionsAmazing day out!Had the most amazing day at the blue mountains, our tour guide Ronnie was so entertaining and informative. You could tell he really loved his job and cared about making sure we did everything we wanted to. We had such a great day out. Loved seeing the animals and feeding kangaroos at the wildlife park.Written 11 September 2024
- mariesophiej7830 contributionsVery good Day TripVery good day trip! Our guide Scotty was funny and knowledgeable. The views were spectacular; I especially enjoyed Echo Point and Lincoln's Rock. I also enjoyed feeding the kangaroos at Featherdale Wildlife Park.Written 3 September 2024

- sjamalxo0 contributionssuch a fun experience!Perfect solo trip! Jammed packed with activities, the guide was lovely and all in all a fun experience. Would definitely recommend.Written 25 August 2024
- keneumey0 contributionsOptions for all fitness levelsI broke my leg last year and was unsure I’d be able to keep up with a Blue Mountains group hike. It was tough to find a tour at the last minute that would take us to Featherdale (not the Sydney Zoo) and to see the Three Sisters, but also be attainable given my current fitness level. This Carbon Neutral tour also has an option on Colourful Collective’s website called All-Inclusive, where Ronnie (an amazing guide, as testified to in all the reviews) dropped us off at Scenic World while the “moderately fit” hiked their butts off. Scenic World is a choose your own adventure of seeing the rainforest from above and below. We still got in our 10,000 steps on the wooden pathway along the rainforest floor. It was a magical day.Written 29 June 2024
- danawC5133JA0 contributionsBlue mountains day tripA brilliant day in the blue mountains! We were picked up by our tour guide Ronnie and started off our trip at Featherdale wildlife where we got to feed kangaroos, see some sleepy koala bears and lots of other Australian animals. We then went to Lincoln’s rock, the three sisters and a rainforest walk to see Leura cascades. Ronnie was the best tour guide - he kept us in high spirits throughout the tour, and he was very knowledgeable about the blue mountains history as well as the local wildlife. Would highly recommend this tour!Written 21 June 2024

- Krystalg13500 contributionsGreat and chilled trip!My trip with Michael was great, the weather was beautiful, everyone on the bus got along well whether they were with friends or solo, I made some new friends while on the trip that I am still travelling with now! We seen lots of beautiful views, the main ones everyone wants to see and had a decent amount of time at each place. Went to an animal sanctuary which was so good! We stopped and had lunch, had a great time even on the bus, it was all very chilled and Michael was very informative and a nice guy! Would recommend this trip and company to anyone looking to do this trip, it’s all sorted for you and takes the stress away allowing you to enjoy it. Thanks again!Written 3 April 2024
- gaurangn20240 contributionsWon’t travel again with Colorful Trips again! Need to better your experience and treat each guest as special. The trip itinerary was really good! Covered a good number of spots in Canberra and there was sufficient time to explore all spots as well. However, the people on the trip were the worst! They were all very rude and very impatient. The tour guide was good with his knowledge however was being too juvenile and wasn’t really keeping everyone in check! He was also making fun of a lot of the people on the tour which gets a bit annoying after a while. I have travelled the world but never thought the tour in my own home would be one of the worst! Will never travel again with Colorful trips again. However Canberra is amazing and defs worth visiting!Written 30 March 2024
- retirementdreams10 contributionsGood tripOverall, it was a good trip. The guide explained different things as we drove along. I enjoyed the visit to the featherdale wildlife Park. It was nice to see animals that were unique to Australia. At the different stops in blue Mountain we were allowed time to explore on our own. Some people just chilled, and just kinda took in the view, and some people went on some long walks We had a really nice sandwich and a piece of fruit for our lunch I booked on Booking.com and it said the we had option to buy cable car ride and scenic world. They said that they can’t do that all in one day so it was an offer. I was a little disappointed I couldn’t take the cable car up, but other than that it was a good dayWritten 28 March 2024
- Hannah B0 contributionsBasic but goodThis experience is a get what you pay for type thing! Great to have 3 stops of the blue mountains and in the main town but there wasn’t lots of detail from the tour guide about each place. The lunch options were 3 meat sandwiches or salad or veggies with a biscuit and a pear. Very basic but a good way to see the main sites!Written 27 March 2024

I signed up for wine tours in each region that I was visiting in Australia because I wanted to learn more about wine and what I like. Although you get to visit a few wineries in the Hunter Valley, the majority of the stops didn't provide that great of customer service/knowledge about the wine and it felt rushed. The only stop that was educational and provided a great opportunity to ask questions was at Hope Estates (I highly recommend checking out that winery!). Throughout the tour I just felt like each stop felt rushed to get us our tasting without providing any detail or information regarding the wine. This tour is more for people who just want to have someone drive them around to different wineries just to sip wine and be left alone.

G'day Darsha
We're sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your wine tasting experience in The Hunter Valley. As the oldest wine region in Australia, it is a very popular destination, visited by millions of people each year. We are fortunate enough to have private tastings at all of our partner venues, however, the times are allocated, and must be strictly adhered to, otherwise the venues will give our slot to other visitors. This may explain why you felt rushed on the day. It is disappointing to hear the wineries in The Hunter Valley left you underwhelmed, and we will certainly pass on your comments to our partner venues. Having said that, we're pleased to hear you enjoyed the experience at Hope Estate.
Cheers

If I could have given only half a star I would have. Of over 100 tour experiences over the past years this was the worst. Stuffed in the back of the van with three other passengers there was no space to set my left foot on the floor and the poor woman next to me had to lean forward unable to sit back on the non/reclining seat. A clown in a clown car or a sardine in a can would have had a superior experience.
An hour and a half later at the rest stop the woman (both of us are small) begged and pleaded to be let in the empty front seat which would have solved my problem. He refused to allow this stating that we were picking up another couple at the destination town and they would want to sit together. The lady was treated very cruelly resulting in her stating that she was going to write a terrible review. He stated that he didn’t care.
She wanted to be left at the rest stop if she couldn’t move into the front so feeling bad for her and the tour company being unwilling to address made me offer to sit in the front leaving the two seats empty in the back which I would have welcomed. The tour guide agreed to this but the lady was afraid to sit next to the driver so there I went sharing my space with the extended console and gear stick. Not that much better then the back but granted better.
The ride back we were once again confined to the front but I wasn’t allowed to switch back to the back after the couple departed in the destination town. Instead of the great play list and commentary promised, I was treated to the drivers non-stop business transactions over the phone and by text. Probably not that safe either.
As for the event itself, it was pretty good and included a very good lunch. The tastings were good except for the first one which I discovered was the bottom quality of the three available. For a tour of this expense they should have included at least the medium quality one which wax only ten dollars more retail then the bottom feeder.
So, all in all, the events were pretty good maybe three to four in range but the whole trip was ruined for me by the travel portion. Frankly, rather then pay for it, had I known, I would have paid not to go.
Although the tour guide, Tom, doesn’t care about reviews I took this opportunity to write such a long review to warn readers of reviews to avoid this outfit.

Hi Michael, thanks for the feedback. From our extensive off line communications it was clear the problem was the first 1.5 hours of the drive (in a Mercedes Benz vehicle), after which our guide then moved other guests around to accommodation you and the other guest (who incidentally left us this 5 review on a different review site - "Very informative guide Tom was very kind, gave a lot of information and made the trip memorable. Took us to 4 wonderful tastings").

During the booking/organising period, each staff member I dealt with was polite and lovely. We were so excited for the wine tour to the Hunter Valley which was planned in celebration of my birthday. However, when we got picked up the driver was abrasive and arrogant. On the drive up, he asked the bus why we thought the Hunter Valley was so famous. A few people made gusses but he ended up telling us that the Hunter Valley is famous for no reason, except for the fact that it's close to Sydney. He said as far as wine goes, the Hunter Valley is pretty average and that we shouldn't be excited. This isn't exactly what you want to hear as you're on your way to a full day of tastings...
On the same ride up, the air con was blasting heavily which we were grateful for as it was a hot day. However, later in the day as it got hotter we hopped back onto the bus and he had not turned the aircon back on, so requested that the driver please turn it up as we were all sweating. He insisted it was on, though it clearly wasn't. It was so hard to enjoy ourselves when all we could feel was the heat - one of my friends felt faint.
On the drive home the aircon was magically working again and the cold chill was refreshing but also a few hours too late...
There were a few other comments made but I won't ramble on.
I'm not writing this review to complain at all. I had a lovely day celebrating with my friends. I'm simply writing this to share my experience. I think the package is definitely good value for money, and if it weren't for one person souring the mood then this would be a rave review. Hope this helps!

We were met by our driver/guide, Mark, on time (gotta love that) and were taken to the Hunter Valley area. En route Mark gave us lots of history and information about Sydney, a number of the areas we traveled through, and the Hunter Valley area. He told us about each winery (& the distillery) before we reached it which was helpful. Each tour was excellent & lunch was very good with a good selection of options. He stopped halfway in both directions so we could stretch our legs a bit and grab a tea or coffee. I recommend this tour as a great way to learn about some of the wines being made in this region of Australia.

Had the best tour group experience! Everyone in the group were accommodating and fun to mix with. Tom our driver and guide also played a big part in facilitating towards our needs. The best tour experience was the wine and cheese pairing.

We had the most amazing day - Mark was exceptional and made the day very memorable and special. We had such a great array of people and cultures on board and it was very humorous at times. It was certainly great travelling with a smaller group and everyone had a great day. The tour was very constructed and had great variety. It was a fun day out, great weather, great company, great wine and food - would highly recommend if you want to experience the highlights of the Hunter Valley. Great recommendation and would certainly go on another trip with this company. Keep up the great work.

The day was off to a poor start as the number of people on the tour was 20 instead of the no more than 14 promised. The seats and leg space of the vehicle that took us out to the Hunter Valley was similar to the space in a budget airline and was not the luxury vehicle that was promoted by the description. For us, the winery picks were not what we were hoping for but the wines were all of good quality. The hosts at all of the wineries were friendly and knowledgeable. The wineries that had food pairings (either cheese or chocolate) were very good. Unfortunately, the wine and cheese pairing was directly after lunch when we were full. It would have been nice to have that pairing before lunch because we were offered some of the wines at lunch (which was at the same venue).

My wife and I did the small group wine and distillery tasting in the Hunter Valley. Directions provided to a pick-up location were easy to follow. Immediately from the start, out guide "Tom" was fully engaged with the entire group. He ensured every member of the tour felt welcome and was entertained. The journey to Hunter Valley was a 2 hour trip. The scenery, pours and meals made up for the length. Our only "could do better" would be more historical information on the small towns and areas we travelled through. Great tour and great guide.

The Hunter Valley was beautiful! The wineries were awesome. Took lots of photos and bought lots of wine. The lunch was yum! The chocolate tasting was pretty awesome…. It really did change the flavour of the wines. Tom our driver was really wonderful, took good care of us. Great bunch of people. The only thing I would say to the bus company is to book two less seats on the bus… then it would be ‘luxury’. The back seat was claustrophobic with not much room to move. Other than that, highly recommend.

Pick up and drop off was convenient and the bus ride was comfortable from Sydney. Knowledgeable and easy going driver which made the day run smoothly. It was great to drive over harbour bridge! The three wine spots were great fun, my favourite was the first where we tried 9 wines. Lunch at the second was a good portion and the cheese and wine tasting here went very quick as there was only 4 to sample. The next spot was the distillery. This was a disappointment and I would have preferred another wine spot. The staff seemed unenthusiastic and you could not sample more than 6 2ml tasters. This also would have only cost you $5 out of pocket so not worth the money here. The last spot was 5 wines paired with chocolates. I missed out on one as the Turkish delight was not vegetarian suitable.
We did also stop at two shops - the chocolate and fudge factory and the smelly cheese shop. I would of liked to have spent this time also in another wine tasting spot.
Overall we sampled 19 wines and 6 spirits.
