- KGumnut00Excellent tour!Ben was very friendly and took us to interesting areas of Newcastle I did not know existed. Here, among other sites, I saw some great street art. it was great to stop at a cafe along the way and share a coffee and interests with the other riders.
- Simon T00Great tour, great host!I took the Morning Essentials tour with Newy Rides - the tour route included beautiful scenery, street art, historical locations, all informed by our guide Ben’s local knowledge. The pace was casual and the route very easy to ride, and we gained plenty of knowledge about other places to see, eat and drink after the tour. A great way to see Newcastle, thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.
- foal_8800Great Day Out in NewcastleThanks to Newy Rides for a great day out cruising around seeing all that Newcastle has to offer. I had considered Newcastle to be an industrial city with not much happening but our guide for the day Ben certainly showed how wrong I was about that. Ben was genuinely bursting with enthusiasm to show off the area, giving great insight in to the history of the City while showing his favourite places to eat and drink around Newcastle on the way. Each of the local distilleries, breweries and eateries were very unique places with exceptional food and drinks, the staff were insightful giving their time to have a chat about the history and what they’re producing. I’ll certainly need to track down the gin and beer from these places for home. The last stop was the perfect way to cap off a great day, sharing our highlights and having a laugh over great food and a few takeaway beers from the bottle shop next door. The wide promenades and bike lanes make cycling the perfect way to get around Newcastle at a leisurely pace, even for me not being the most confident rider it was an easy and enjoyable ride cruising around the harbour and beaches then through quiet neighbourhood streets. It sure beat having to find a park or catching Ubers around. I can certainly recommend Newy Rides to not only tourists but also locals as a fun and entertaining day out to see the culture and history of this vibrant and rapidly changing city. I can’t wait to share this gem of a tour and bring friends up to do it again one day.
- 770wiebkel00Hidden spots and great food!I would definitely recommend the tour for both locals and tourists. Ben takes you to beautiful distilleries, breweries and local street art. We visited places I hadn't heard of. The food was magnificent, the bikes were comfy and Ben is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide.
- 467RebeccaR00OMG I love NewyThere were so many moments during the ride that I found myself thinking "OMG I love this place?". I discovered so many hidden treasures I had no idea were in my backyard. I bought a bottle of gin, I ate some delicious authentic Texan food and I found some new places to take my interstate visitors next time they come to Newy.
- ewang201600Enormously fun and flexible day outWe’ve visited Newcastle many times, as we’re considering moving there from Sydney, but always struggled to understand what it is the locals love about the place. We were really sceptical about doing a tour, especially in our own country, but Ben nailed the brief. He blew us away with A+ service and hidden gem finds. There’s no brightly coloured dorky helmets or bikes. You don’t stick out like a tourist at all and Ben is hilarious. We’d actually already been to one of the places on the itinerary and while happy to go back, Ben with a big grin detoured us to his personal fav cafe instead.
- 260cazt00Such a good day!Ben took us on a walking tour around Newy, showed us some cool spots and stopped along the way for a beer or two. Definitely worth it, it was a great day!

Having travelled from Sydney to explore Newcastle should be on anyone’s wish list & to do so through Newy Rides - Ride Along series is most recommended.
We were greeted by Ben (the informative host), who instantly made us feel comfortable introducing us to the delights of Newcastle & new friends whom we shared the tour with. Having not ridden a bike in years, we were allocated our road-worthy bikes, some of us with battery powered (thanks for that assistance) & set on our way. The bike tracks in Newcastle are easy to get around & quite stunning. There wasn’t a moment I wasn’t uncomfortable & for the not so confident bike rider, this is saying something. As for the culinary delights, the food was exceptional & also supplied with our dietary requirements. The picturesque lunch stop, unique wine tasting & the gin tour were also highlights.
Would I do this again… Absolutely!
Thanks Newy rides - we loved it.

You can ride through a city and see a bunch of buildings, but Ben interpreted the city brilliantly and brought it to life painting it's picture well. we had a great group of people, and had plenty of fun along the pavement. Lunch was delicious. highly recommend.

Such a great way to experience the city and really showcases Newcastle in a totally different light. Easily accessible cycleways and paths mean it's great even for people not super confident on bikes. Ben was a great host and really showed some of the city's hidden gems that we otherwise would've totally missed. Great to have locals knowledge when out and about in a city!

We had avail this tour on our short vacation to the New Castle which was very well organized and informative by our tour guide Ben. It was really a fun adventure, cycling through all the main spots in and around the city. If you are new to this city and want to know more, this is the tour you choose .

Seeing newcastle by bicycle allowed me to see areas I would never have visited before. Ben the host was fantastic, his enthusiasm was infectious which added so much to the trip and he was incredibly well read around about the history of the area. A lot of fun was had by all, the stops were amazing taking in places i wouldn't have visited previously and will definitely take friends and family to these parts of Newcastle and not just the beach. this is an absolute must for not only tourists but also every novocastrian.

I didn't have any great expectations of the bike tour if I'm being honest, however, I am more than happy to admit that I couldn't have been more wrong - it was fantastic.
Outside of the fact that he was a really nice guy, Ben's knowledge, interest and passion for Newcastle and some of its history was infectious.
Rather than it being a long list of boring facts, it was a mix of interesting information, stories and venues/areas visited that only left you wanting to do even more.....outside of the different sights and the great wall art we were shown, the highlights for us were the visit to the Gin place in Carrington, as well as finishing off with some incredible food at the Texan smokehouse place in Islington.
It was that good we have just booked to do it again with friends in a couple of weeks, as not only would they enjoy it and the various stops en-route, but it's a great way for them to see Newcastle in a much more varied way than we would have planned!
Definitely worth doing.
Thanks Ben.

Getting around a new place on a bike is a great way to see things up and close. Newy rides and Ben did just that. I really enjoyed all the history and stories Ben told us about Newcastle as we rode. I felt safe and confident at all times and the ride was broken up nicely with stops for photos. Our visit to Earp for a refreshing gin and tonic was greatly appreciated on a hot day. Thanks Ben for the cocktail and dinner recommendations. They were fabulous.

Ben is super enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge of Newcastle. This was a surprise birthday gift and we loved it. Included some history, sightseeing, local wine and gin stops, and a ‘low and slow’ brisket for lunch. Highly recommend this to tourists and locals alike.

I had a lot of fun on this tour with Ben. He was very knowledgeable and right from the get go you can tell he is very passionate about Newcastle and cycling! I was only in town for a short period and by the end I felt like I had a much better grasp on all the things that make Newcastle great. The itinerary that Ben put together was so well balanced and even for someone like me who hadn't ridden a bike in years. it wasn't daunting at all.
I also really appreciated that Ben was constantly keeping an eye on me and making sure I wasn't feeling or getting lost - it did get very busy at points! It really was an awesome way to experience the city and since then I've resolved to move to Newcastle (not kidding) and buy a bike. Happy days.
