    Awesome!
Fantastic displays - especially the F111 and F/A - 18. Amazing to see them up close. There is also an observation deck overlooking the main runway for plane watches to enjoy.

    F-35's in flight a bonus!
Fighter World was our first stop on a holiday based around aircraft, more especially military aircraft. It was well worth the visit and we were very lucky to see the F-35 in the air and landing. An added bonus was that there were professional photographers on the observation desk as well and they were only too happy to talk to my grandson. The static displays were well presented and the staff firendly.

Great we place to stop and visit .
Neat place to visit if you enjoy fighter jets. Small museum but but worth a visit to get up close with a F1-11 or Hornet and other fighters . $19 per adult . There is a balcony upstairs that looks over the Newcastle airport and if you are lucky enough like us, we saw the F-35, Hawke, Poseidon take off and land !! Nice cafe also next door and not overpriced with indoor and outdoor seating . .

    Informative and interesting
You probably need to go to fighter world if you like planes, history, aircraft models, engines or guns. There is plenty of parking, the bathrooms are clean, it's well signposted and there is a little gift shop with a good variety of relevant things. There's a ladder up to one of the displays, allowing you to look right into the cockpit. With the RAAF base and airport so close, it's also a food spot to see some modern planes and jets taking off. The displays are spread over two large sheds, with planes on the concrete floors and some other displays on the floors as well. There is an impressive set of scale models, too. Volunteers there are knoedgeable and helpful - if you have questions I'd heartily recommend you ask these lovely people. In fact, even if you have no questions, strike up a conversation with them and you're sure to learn new things or at least have an even more enjoyable visit. Notes: There is no mezzanine, so the only view of the planes is from the floor (except for the one with the ladder). One AV display is in a semi-screened area, which makes it easier to hear, but another is in the open and it's very difficult to hear if others are nearby talking. Some children were having fun there, but I would not recommend taking children who have no interest, as there is nothing else for them to do ... however, the grassy area between the display sheds is flat, free of bindii and has some shade, so bored little ones can play there to break up the visit.

    SUPER DAY OUT!
We loved all of the museum. Very informative. Lots to see. Especially loved the model airaplanes in the cases. So much detail. The man at the door to welcome us in was very professional, very welcoming and easy to talk to. He had a lovely personality. He was awesome for this role. Fantastic having a cafe next door where we were able to have lunch afterwards. Well worth the time to see the museum whilst in the area.

A pretty awesome place if yo'ure a plane enthusiast
I loved seeing all these old fighters up close and personal and it's right next to Williamtown AFB so you can watch fighter jets take off and land which is a real experience if you haven't see this before. We managed to see 2 x F35s take off in the 90 minutes we were there.

    Great day out
A place we would recommend to visit! We were greeted by John and he was able to give us a lovely tour of the air fighter planes. He was a fountain of knowledge and it was delivered in a very personable way. He shared his excitement and passion for this place and it was contagious!! We loved the range of planes and replicas, some a even build on site! We will return for sure.

    A MUST visit !
Thought hubby would enjoy this so suggested we visit and we both had a fantastic time. The whole exhibition is terrific with volunteers who I understand are mostly ex pilots extremely helpful with information and conversation, The highlight was a 15-20 minute exhibition by a fighter pilot which was absolutely thrilling and a wonderful experience.

Lucky to watch an impromptu jet display
Wonderful experience. We were privileged to witness an amazing display of their newest jet in acrobatics one couldn’t even imagine. Just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Then we toured the museum and had some wonderful conversations with one of the knowledgeable staff on hand. The displays are awesome and everyone was lovely. It’s a must do for any age.

    Great for all the family
We’d attempted to come here about 3 months ago having seen all the advertising hoardings by the roadside. When we made the effort to come it was closed due to Covid. Thankfully, this time it was open. The museum sits aside a working RAAF base and as luck would have it just as we arrived 5 F35s fighter planes did a low flyby of the airport. What a start. There are some great exhibits, which for the most part focus on the history of the base and the squadrons that have been based there. Lots of static displays, a number of aircraft/replicas and an overload of information. Great way to spend an hour if you’re just browsing, or much longer if you’re really interested. Only disappointment is that a number of the ‘hands on’ displays that kids would love were off limits because of Covid restrictions.

Fighter World soars to new heights!
A group of us descended on the Fighter World facility at Williamtown near Newcastle for what we thought was a quick look see. Having gained entry after the usual COVID checks we were surprised and delighted to be greeted by Jack, one of the volunteer tour guides, who walked us around the exhibits explaining each and every aircraft, ordinance and aviation paraphernalia with intimate detail and obvious lived authority. Jack is a retired fighter pilot with the RAAF and worked as a fighter pilot trainer, so he really knows his stuff! Over the 1.5hr tour Jack recounted his many experiences in the trade, some gained on the actual aircraft on display, and answered every question with great aplomb, all to the thrall of everyone present. For the aviation aficionados we got up-and-personal with a General Dynamics F-111, a CAC Avon Sabre, a Mirage III, a Pilates PC-9 trainer, a couple of Supermarine Spitfire MkIXs, a meticulously faithful replica of a Sopwith Camel F1, and many more. Afterwords we retired to the on-site cafe for a much deserved snack and listened to the deafening F-35 Joint Strike Fighters taking off on training runs behind us. Highly recommended, even if you’re not an aspiring fighter pilot.

    Check the website!
On the road between Newcastle and Nelson Bay there’s a slew of signboards about Fighterworld. So, we took a drive out from Nelson Bay to look at the museum. Closed. Only the café was open as of 27th October 2021. We could still look at the outside exhibits which only teased at what we missed inside. Checked the website and sure enough there was a note on the homepage that the museum is closed until 1 Nov. Suppose the moral of the story is to ignore any roadside signage and look online before travelling. Whilst we were outside, we did see one of the fighter jets taking off from at the airport however and that in itself made the trip worthwhile. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area for a proper visit.

This place is incredible. The museum is spectacular. Seeing an F1-11 so close was amazing.
The observation deck, OMG, this is a must to see. Especially when the jets are in action.

Very friendly volunteers, knowledgeable and happy to give you tips on how to make the most of the place. There are two hangars with the newer planes in the entry hangar. There is also a viewing area and platform to allow you to watch aircraft taking off and landing. Great to spend an hour or two here.

It is worth stopping and visiting this museum:) Interesting to see the fighter jet planes for real and what does it look like at a closer look. My 10 year old son really loved it! Fu and educational with kids around:) We were also lucky to see an actual practice of jet planes in the sky at the look out:)

We visited today with my 3 young boys and they had an absolute blast. They have been raving about the planes and ejection seats all day. It’s great for their little imaginations and they really enjoyed the observation deck. The gentlemen that work there really know their stuff and are just lovely, they went out of their way to chat to my boys and show them photo albums of planes and jets. It’s a day my boys won’t forget in a hurry. Thank you so much.

Good display of aircrafts. Caretakers have done well with the restorations. Loved being so close to the F111. Awesome machine! Cafe is great with some nice food while you are waiting to see some jets coming and going from the RAAF base next door... Good for a couple of hours if you take your time reading exhibits...

We took our 3 children ages 8-10 here for a visit. Cost was $42 for a family.
Our children loved seeing all the planes and being able to sit inside 2 of them. It was very interesting.
We were able to see many of the planes fly over us outside which the kids loved.
We also visited the cafe which had yum food. It had a variety of cafe foods and also coffee. We sat outside to eat and could see the planes fly over.
A great morning out!
