This is the worst tour operator I've had the displeasure of dealing with. I booked this for my non-english speaking family and was promised headsets- only to be told they are not available closer to departure date. Every interaction was a pain. Will not recommend.

Kia Ora devilishlc, We’re really sorry to hear you’ve had a disappointing experience dealing with us and that your family did not receive the translation headsets as promised. Are you able to send us an email to info@greatsights.co.nz with your booking details so we can investigate this further? We do appreciate you taking the time to let us know about this. Queenstown to Milford Sound Full Day Tour
Feb. 2020
A friend and I booked an Intercity tour but ended up on a Gray Line bus and I'm sure glad we did, thanks to the wonderful driver, Mark! He was warm, cheerful and full of in-depth knowledge on the region which he shared with us through his continuous commentary through the day....thanks to this, the long journey flew by before we knew it! Furthermore, he went above and beyond his call of duty by offering his own lunch pack to us, when he found out that we didn't have any lunch. I can't say enough about how touched we were!!
The tour itself was perfectly organized and the free tea/coffee/cookies on the cruise was just what we needed after getting drenched on the cruise deck. We were lucky enough to get a gorgeous sunny day making the whole thing simply perfect!
A little note for anyone planning to book this trip: pick up your lunch at Te Anau as the cruise starts as soon as you reach the cruise terminal and there is no opportunity to pick up anything. Also, do not waste the extra bucks on booking the Intercity NATURE Cruise, it is exactly the same as the Intercity REGULAR cruise and is just a money-making gimmick by Intercity (as confirmed by the employees on the cruise)

Well worth it.
Jan. 2020
We booked this with InterCity but ened up on a Gray Line bus.

Santiago, our driver was very informative and provided commentary on the way to Milford Sound, how anyone can talk for 3 hours and not be annoying is beyond me, but he managed it well.

There were quiet a few stops on the way to the Sound for sight seeing and a few walks.

The picnic lunch was much better that expected, and the cruise delightful.

A car caught fire in the Homer tunnel on the way back, and so we were stuck in Milford Sound for and extra 4 hours. Santiago took this in his stride and his demure kept everyone calm.

True we did get back to Queenstown at 1am, but that isn't the bus companies fault and they did put the extra effort in to get us back as quick as possible.

I highly recommend Intercity/Gray Line for a day trip to see Milford Sound

Kia Ora C7481SPnickm, We are pleased to have received such wonderful feedback, we are grateful to know that Santiago entertained you whilst on board and and managed to keep everyone calm with the incident that arose at the Homer Tunnel causing a delay on the return. We are pleased that you enjoyed the picnic lunch and we hope you managed to capture some amazing memories whilst at Milford Sound and at the many photo opportunity stops that we offer on the way to your cruise, it truly is a once in a lifetime experience. The trip was beautiful. It was raining, but the waterfalls were all flowing. Lunch was not great and not worth the trouble. We had to queue for about 15 minutes for food that was not good at all.
The cruise was great.

Wow, this trip was amazing! We went from Te Anau which cuts out travel from the alternative pickup location at Queenstown.
Our coach driver Stu was brilliant, a man full of interesting facts about the area, the people, wildlife etc. He had a great sense of humour and made the journey very enjoyable.
There were plenty of photo opportunities on the way to Milford Sound and on arrival we got on the boat for an amazing cruise and included buffet which we really enjoyed!
The cruise was comfortable, the staff helpful and the commentary was great.
Overall a fantastic experience which we would highly recommend!

Worth the money
We were picked up at a convenient location to our accommodation about 10 minutes after the assigned pick up time, which was ok because it was clearly stated pick up times could be 10 minutes after the assigned time. Unfortunately first impressions were not so great, the driver asked if I was my girlfriend’s mum, and made other comments about children and having children we felt were negative and probably inappropriate for some. He offered a lot of information on the drive to Milford Sound, though much of it was personal.
We appreciated all of the stops along the way, and felt like we had ample time at each stop, including a toilet stop mid way.
The cruise was awesome, we felt incredibly lucky that we had sunshine. The captain was really funny, we thought. Do be prepared to get fully wet if you stand on the bow under a waterfall.
Some passengers had a “gourmet meal” and the free coffee and tea were available only after they went through. My girlfriend and I both ordered a dairy free chicken meal 6 months in advance and neither were offered when the bus driver was handing out meals. She had a sandwich with loads of butter and a roll which was like a small jelly donut but with butter instead of jelly. Our bus driver was generous enough to give me his meat pie lunch which was delicious, but that’s all I had.
Bring snacks and water for the drive, there are coffee stands at 2 stops, cash only.
The drive back to Te Anau went really quickly with stops along the way, again. Overall, despite the hiccups. we are very excited about our day, we know the weather made a huge difference, as did the small group on our bus, and also the Jucy sense of humor and casualness. Would recommend.

Please remember, we are happy to investigate every situation in detail and you can contact us through our website. We are glad to know that after all, you enjoyed the ride to Milford Sound as well as the cruise. Beautiful place to visit. Bus trip from Te Anau-Milford had plenty of stops for photos and it started snowing at the top of the range. The Fiordland was unforgettable place and the day was worth the price.

The Most Magical Adventure
Jul. 2019 • Family
We started off the morning with a stomach full of laughs. Our bus driver/tour guide Adrian was an absolute ball of fun. He was very informative about the surrounding terrain, explaining the origins of how the surrounding mountains were formed by Ice Glaviers and how the passing towns were founded.
The scenery throughout the 4 hour trip (each way) was breath-taking. We even stopped at designated areas to capture in the picturesque views of the stunning mountains within the multiple valleys the bus drove through.
The Milford Sounds cruise was just as amazing as the journey getting there. We started off the cruise with a buffet lunch (which was delicious), which was then encompassed taking photos of these magical waterfalls. But be prepared to get a little wet if you're standing too close on the outside deck.
We even saw DOLPFINES on the cruise!

Overall, I would highly recommend this Queenstown to Milford Sounds trip to anyone who even has a slight interest in sight-seeing. The overall trip was absolutely amazing and my whole family had a blast getting there and coming back.

Once in a lifetime experience
Jul. 2019 • Friends
We absolutely LOVED this tour. From our friendly bus driver (Hamish) to the boat cruise of Milford Sound. And the food on board was tasty & warm!!
Extra special shout out to Hamish for all his interesting facts along the drive, plenty of stops for photos & wildlife sightings!
I was going to take a star away for all the Aussie jokes, but his taste in music made up for it!!!

Trip to Milford Sound
Feb. 2019 • Friends
Had an amazing trip going to Milford Sound, what should have been a boring 5 hour drive turned into an interesting fun history/science session with our driver Eric. Made me wished that the rest of my tour guide drivers were all him! Definitely learned alot of NZ history from Eric that day. The tour and cruise itself all went smoothly with no trouble at all. Thanks Eric!
