      Milford Sound
      Stop: 105 minutes
Step aboard our magnificent three deck catamarans, and enjoy a scenic cruise along spectacular Milford Sound. Get up close and personal with the fiord's towering mountains, sheer cliffs and hanging valleys as the boat hugs the edges of the fiord throughout the two hour cruise. Feel the spray from the waterfalls that cascade from an ancient rainforest high in the mountains and look out for New Zealand fur seal colonies and occasionally dolphins swimming nearby. The cruise goes the full length of the fiord to the Tasman Sea and return down the opposite side. During the exploration you will pass iconic landmarks such as Bowen Falls, Mitre Peak, Copper Point, Fairy Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Dale Point, Seal Rock and of course Stirling Falls.

The best way to travel to and experience Milford Sound .
An excellent way to make the journey to Milford Sound . Stunning scenery with knowledgeable commentary from our brilliant, experienced guide Brian that included history, geology, geography and myths and legends. Once on the boat the views continued together with the captain’s commentary and we saw unbelievable waterfalls at close proximity from the water together with wild life spotting . Altogether a fabulous experience.

      Queenstown highlight!
It was awesome to experience another part of NZ I hadn’t been to before. The driver was very experienced and had a lot of interesting information to share with us about the landscapes and history of the places we visited. The cruise was wonderful and highly advise to not let a bit of rain stop you from going because it was truely magical!

      Fantastic day!!
This was the most amazing day!! Stunning scenery for the whole drive out to Milford Sound, and the cruise was great fun. If I could rate higher than 5/5 I would! What a fantastic experience that I will remember forever.

      Cruise through pristine nature
Milford Sound is truly breathtaking and worth a visit. We chose this coach and cruise operator because it included lunch. We opted for the 7:30am departure from Queenstown, with pick up at 7:20am. Unfortunately, our bus was delayed by about half an hour, leaving us waiting out in the cold. Once the bus did arrive, the driver didn't offer any explanation or apologies, instead they stayed in the driver's seat and checked us off the list as we boarded. The trip to Milford Sound was comfortable and the driver was excellent navigating the winding roads. The bus was spacious and the onboard toilet was very handy given the trip does take several hours each way. Our driver provided facts and insights as we drove along, but the quality of the PA system did make it a touch hard to follow at times. We had a brief stop in Te Anau, where we could grab a coffee and snack to bring back to the bus. Thereafter, we made three more very short stops to take in the scenery. The stop at the mirror lakes was a real highlight! We arrived at the port for our cruise with a short amount of waiting time before boarding. Crossing through the fiord was simply breathtaking. The waterfall towards the end was really special, as was seeing the rock sausages (seals). While lunch was included, it was a humble pie with crisps, a piece of fruit, muesli bar, and some biscuits. If you need more than this, you will be able to buy food on the ship. Overall, I would recommend this tour, but the 4 star rating reflects the lack of communication regarding delays on pick-up.

      Beautiful & Windy Milford Sound!
We had Debbie as our tour guide and she was great! Very informative and scenic bus ride up to Milford sound. There were plenty of stops for bathroom breaks and photo opportunities along the way. Debbie kept us well informed of what was going on the whole time and was very great at dealing with a full bus of people. Milford Sound was beautiful!! It was VERY windy on the water so if you get sea sick I would take a gravol before hand. The catamaran was also quite full. I suggest getting an outdoor window seat however everyone ends up getting up and moving around the boat anyways so you will be able to move seats. We were able to get up close to some waterfalls and seals. Apparently you can also occasionally spot penguins and dolphins but our weather may not have been right for them. Debbie let us relax on the way back and people either took naps on the bus or just took in the mountain views from the bus windows.

      Fun time
Sebastian was a fine tour guide and I enjoyed the spot we visited. Of course the Milford sound was gorgeous. Alot of comment say it's nothing but a long drive. You have to understand that it takes a long time to get to Milford sound so a long road is expected. The stops were good for a little stretching in between. I just really wished he would drive slower, for it had me quite nervous.

      Mediocre
We got on the bus at 7:15pm and were not served lunch till 2:40. By that time my entire group was already starving and in a bad mood. The trip itself is already super long, but ours was extra long because by the time our tour bus arrived at Milford Sounds we learned that we would need to wait an extra hour for our cruise because there was a delay.

      PURE MILFORD CO. Great experience
Bus ride was comfortable and interesting. Stop at Monkey Stream was fun - the water was pure enough to drink. Take your drinking glass! The boat ride was amazing and comfortable with three levels. The lunch was delicious - chicken pie was fantastic and there was plenty of food. Keep some for ride home! Made for a long day!

Long day in a bus but beautiful boat tour
Really fun and beautiful but such a long day. Giving 4 stars as the PA system on the bus was crackly and hard to hear and the tour guide spoke non-stop for the 12 hour day so it got annoying with the bad sound system.

      A wonderful experience
We had a wonderful time. Our coach driver and guide, Debbie was really professional, a good driver and extremely knowledgeable. The catamaran cruise was punctual, its crew friendly and its facilities clean and functional. The 12 hour day was well spent

Not worth the time & effort (unless you like car sickness)
Although beautiful, this was not worth the 6 or so hours in a bus. The drive was extreme going & windy and our driver drove like a maniac. He was constantly over taking other cars, sometimes even on bends and super risky roads. The bus driver also was unable to speak clearly and mumbled a lot so we couldn’t hear a lot of what he was saying. The car sickness was one thing however the food on the cruise was sub par considering the price. Milford sound was beautiful however would not recommend you bus from QT. Not worth the effort and we felt like we wasted a day.

      Well worth it.
Well organised tour. A few stops along the way for points of interest. The cruise was spectacular. Be warned it is a long trip back to Queenstown. Some chose the fly back option. No gain without a little sitting on the bus pain.

Kia Ora, Thank you for joiing us at Piopiotahi / Milford Sound, and for this lovely feedback. It's easy to get distracted from just about everything (including food!) with that stunning scenery! It is truly out of this world, both the drive in and the cruise itself. Ngā mihi, Kate

Kia Ora N777180, Thank you for joining us at Piopiotahi / Milford Sound, and for sharing this fabulous feedback. We are thrilled it was a magical and memorable day on the fiord. We were scheduled for a 9:30 am however, it was cancelled due to weather conditions, the lady at the booth suggested to rebook for the 12 noon cruise time which I agreed. When approached again to get for a card pass they rescheduled for 1pm saying that they cannot control the weather. Other cruise companies are already operating but not this one. I guess we have to wait for the bus tour group from queenstown. This meant all passengers were cramped at one vessel. They even reduced/cut the time at the sound so that the vessel will come back for the next session.

Kia Ora Retier, Thank for for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are so sorry to hear you were affected by adverse weather at Piopiotahi / Milford Sound. We do our very best to plan and prepare according to the weather forecast, but the weather on the West Coast can be wildly unpredictable so we do our best. As was the case on the day of your cruise, we were unable to safely retrieve one of our vessels from it's mooring outside the harbour, and so we were doing our best to accommodate two sets of passengers to avoid disappointment. In our attempt to avoid turning guests away, we realise we have compromised on overall guest experience so we do apologise for this. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback with us, Ngā mihi, Kate

Went on two cruises in Milfound sound as it was just soo good. Boats were both filled with free tea and coffee. Both boats had small selection of hot food for sale. Sights were amazing, we got to see many waterfalls and some seals.

This boat was overcrowded. A lot of pushing and shoving from people trying to take pictures. Large groups placed bags on seats to reserve them while the majority of the group were actually sitting outside. The Milford Sound is beautiful but would recommend going on a small vessel with a limit on numbers.

Kia Ora, Thank you for letting us know of your experience. We are always trying to better our experience for passengers. It is a shame to hear of pushing and shoving from other passengers. Being that it is our peak period in Milford Sound, we do experience a high volume of passengers on which we have a limit to carry. Most providers in Milford Sound are experiencing a high volume of reservations during this peak season. We hope you enjoy the rest of your travels in Aotearoa! Ngā mihi, The Team at Pure Milford

Pure Milford is a first-class operation from start to finish. The catamaran is just a couple of years old and spotless. The staff is so kind and helpful with a special thanks to Tristan and to a crew member from France. Both guys gave informative advice and truly tried to make the two-hour cruise a special experience. Thank you.
