- chrise7270 contributionsRelaxing cruise with amazing views.Trip was pleasant the views around this area are amazing. Samples of local seafood were excellent and cruise was relaxing and enjoyable. The only down side was they kept re-scheduling the trip for some reason and was left with the impression that we were a inconvenience. Being on a cruise with limited time, we booked this cruise with this in mind. By changing the schedule it threw out other things we had planned. If this had not happened I would have given it 5 stars.Written 3 March 2025
- demn12340 contributionsPoor choice of wineries.Visited 3 wineries Ist had food but you had to order as you arrived did not come out on time ,2nd had no seats no toilet , 3rd only had reds to taste but sold whites if you wanted??.Written 28 February 2025
- 303pennym0 contributionsGreat day out.Weather perfect, pick up/drop off well organised, driver friendly and informative, range of tastings from large corporate cellar doors to small to medium independents, enjoyed some great wines. - Anne7470 contributionsWine tourWell I have to say Maureen made the day for us. She was so charming and knowledgeable and listened to what we wanted from the day (including an extra chocolate shop stop). Amazing lunch included and lots and lots of wine.Written 14 February 2025
- Q2701LAkevina0 contributionsFrom Cloudy Bay to Fromm: fabulous !A memorable day. The guide Lisa was first class, friendly, knowledgable and got us to all the tastings bang on time. The vineyards were a brilliant mix of large and family owned. A truly memorable day.Written 7 February 2025
- Ian M0 contributionsWell Organised Tour - Cellar Doors could all be more informative. The tour was well organised and the day ran seamlessly as we moved from one cellar door to another. Lunch at Saint Clare was excellent. Each of the 5 Cellar Doors visited (which included several of the most famous brands) generally delivered a well scripted description of each of the wines presented. What was missing for me was wider information on the vineyards themselves, the characteristics that deliver their particular wines, their successes and challenges etc. That way we would have left with a more enduring memory and knowledge of a great wine region.Written 19 January 2025
- janelA1295VJ0 contributionsSame as aboveWe had an amazing wine tour, we just did the half day, so we went to 3 wineries, but we also hit the Chocolate Shop which was so so good. The wineries we toured which was Fromm, Te Whare Ra, and Saint Clair. Our tour guide was great, he had a lot of great information. Really enjoyed our afternoon.Written 19 January 2025
- V6975EKbarrys0 contributionsGreat views, lovely crew, beautifully cooked food.Stunning Marlborough sounds, lovely relaxing cruse to take it all in. To top it off some of the nicest salmon I have had cooked in NZ and definitely the best green lip muscles. Fantastic and helpful crew.Written 11 January 2025
- E4457ZQgeorgiam0 contributionsBest of the best! This tour was amazing!!! Our guide was super knowledgeable about the area and about wine which just added to the experience. The selection of vineyards was varied and all exciting, we got a great range of places. I would definitely recommend this tour.Written 3 January 2025

A most enjoyable day started with collection from our accommodation and then onto two wineries for wine tasting. Both were made interesting by the staff and were unhurried and after the second one we had a platter lunch. From there it was a 30 minute transfer, with interesting commentary from our driver / guide Maureen to Picton, where we met the large catamaran boat. The captain provided an almost running commentary as we toured the local sounds, which was most informative. After anchoring everyone enjoyed green lipped mussels, or an alternative plus salmon, all BBQ on board.
Overall an excellent and very professionally organised trip and many thanks for making it happen.

My family and I had the best experience last Thursday 25/01/2024, Andrew picked us up from our motel in the morning and after picking up a few more passengers we set off to our first wine tasting at the Nautilus Wine Estate, after sampling some of their exquisite wines we were able to buy a few bottles of the wines that really tickled our taste buds I mean why not right?
We proceeded on to White Haven our 2nd wine tasting of the day, the Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir were both big hits and a bottle of each has made its way home with us.
We then made our way over to Picton where we met Ed and Sofia who welcomed us aboard the Odyssea,
As it turned out our skipper was also the chef onboard as well, after a scrumptious lunch we set sail for Charlotte Sound en route Ed imparted tidbits of information about the Sounds all the while the passengers were able to go below and purchase glasses of Sauvignon Blanc in my case, but I also saw other passengers enjoying cold beers and an other beverages.
It was about this time at we were about to enjoy some fresh green mussels with some fresh bread and olive oil, all washed down with a glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc, the best was yet to come when we pulled into one of the coves to BBQ some salmon, again Ed did a sterling job of BBQing two huge salmon fillets to perfection.
The weather was perfect the wine tasting experience combined with the cruise made for one of the best days ever.

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to review this amazing tour as it really was the highlight of our New Zealand trip. We were picked up by Tanya, our WONDERFUL guide from Marlborough Tour Company. Tanya is so knowledgeable (especially as she previously worked at Cloudy Bay, friendly, helpful and happy to wait while we take photos or take photos of us! We adore her!
We start at Cloudy Bay where we sample fizzy, white and red before a look round the winery (and some shopping of course!). We then head to Framingham Winery where we sample six different wines before being taken to Picton to join the Odyssey and Captain Nick for a BBQ lunch followed by seafood cruise. As we sail around the Marlborough Sounds Captain Nick tells us all about the area before we moor up and he treats us to locally caught salmon and Greenshell mussels on the BBQ, all accompanied by Sauvignon Blanc obvi! We see lots of wildlife and even get to feed the local ducks and fish!
Tanya, Nick and stewardess Rhonda cannot be more friendly, helpful, kind and knowledgable. We really recommend this trip!

I’d like to give 3.5 stars . The problem was the early morning wine tasting - which I guess was described on booking however who really wants to taste wine at 10am? And there were only 2 wineries - nautilus winery I felt was not informative enough .
The boat cruise was great although if you don’t like mussels make sure you fill up on lunch - I thought there would have been more free wine on the boat !

We were looking forward to a wine tour but in fact only visited 2 vineyards, and even here we felt rushed by the guide as he was anxious we were not late for the lunch and cruise. We had been told by our agents we would be having lunch at the Slip Inn at Havelock, but in fact we were going straight to the cruise where we were to have lunch. This was OK - "a build your own burger" from a variety of salads, bread and burgers - with a glass of wine. We cruised out to some green shell mussels bays were we stopped and were given a little talk about the mussels and how they develop in the beds. We were then presented with bowls of cooked mussels to taste. After this the captain barbecued some salmon and again we were given samples to tast.

We were picked up from our accommodation then taken to a chocolate factory and several family run wineries. Our host Heather gave a very good commentary, and being local, was able to answer all of our questions.
We had a lovely lunch then went on a cruise around the sounds. Our captain Paul and crew Lexy looked after us very well. We were told a lot about the local history and the green mussel farming. Included in the cruise were fresh cooked green mussels accompanied by a local Sauvignon Blanc wine. Tea and coffee were also served.
A great days experience of Marlborough!

Staying at Blenheim we decided to go on this tour as it had great reviews.
We were not disappointed.
The staff from Mark the coach drive, Nick the boat captain plus all the other people involved were so hospitable and welcoming.
Being NY day, our travel group was only 13 but expanded to 21 when we got up the boat sector of the day.
Picked up at our Blenheim address on time, Mark gave us commentary as we headed off to our first two vineyard stops.
Wine tasting at 1030am was a bit early for me personally, but we had top experiences at both Cloudy Bay and St Clair vineyards.
After the wine tasting we headed off to Picton to meet the boat, spend approximately 45min exploring Picton and enjoying our on board BBQ lunch.
After lunch we headed off into the calm waters of Queen Charlotte sound for 3+ hours of exploring including venturing into some of the 1100 bays in these sounds
While in one of the bays we got served up freshly cooked mussels and local salmon. Plus a glass of wine. The food was unbelievably good, especially the mussels, which seemed to be in endless supply. But the guest eventually won that battle.
Great commentary and an enjoyable afternoon on the water. After which we all got transferred back to our accommodation.
Highly recommended.

As the finale to our tour of the South Island, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a great day on this superbly organised tour.
Starting with a pick up at the front door of our hotel in Blenheim, our guide Heather made us feel very welcome immediately. We joined 5 others on the tour which was a good number to start chatting with.
We were shown 3 different wineries at which we were able to taste a good range of Marlborough wines and Heather even threw in a quick diversion to a specialist chocolatier in the area.
After lunch in Picton, we started the second half of the tour on a catamaran skippered by the very knowledgeable Ryan who was full of great information about the Marlborough Sounds and their history. We were able to sample the famous Green Shelled mussels, clams and a delicious barbecued salmon fillet which was a great end to a great day trip.
We endorse and recommend this trip wholeheartedly.

Took this tour Sat 30 March. Our driver/guide Finn was exceptional: very pleasant and knowledgeable, and went out of his way to be helpful. Tastings at 2 wineries a very good experience. Unfortunately the cruise was let down by the rain. I’m sure that in better weather that too would have been great.

The driver who picked me up was kind and always supported me, even though I was traveling alone. He was very friendly. The tour included visiting two wineries, tasting, and if you wish, you can purchase wine. In the afternoon, we took a cruise in Marlboro Bay from Picton on a catamaran. After a barbecue lunch and wine, the cruise began! On the way, we sampled seafood (steamed green mussels in wine and grilled salmon) (small portions), and then enjoyed the cruise again. We returned to Picton around 4pm, were dropped off at the i-SITE in Blemheim, where the tour ended. It was a very fulfilling day. Thank you very much. ☺
