Overview
An island sanctuary without introduced predators, Kapiti Island is a nesting place for some of New Zealand’s rarest wildlife; the Little Spotted Kiwi, Kokako and Stichbird have all been re-introduced to the reserve. This tour is the simplest way to visit the island; aside from transport, visitors need a permit to visit the island. Your guide arranges your permit, so you can brush up on your New Zealand bird knowledge instead.

It may be tight. The trip leaves Paraparsumu beach at 8am and returns at about 2.30pm to 3pm. Then allow an hour to get to interIslander terminal.
