    What to Expect
After check-in at reception, enter the volcanic valley between 8:30am and 3pm to begin your self-guided 2.5-mile (4-kilometer) walking tour.

Follow winding footpaths through the geothermal landscape and admire panoramic views over natural attractions including Frying Pan Lake, Inferno Crater Lake, Lake Rotomahana, and the other volcanic craters which make up Waimangu.

Discover sweeping geothermal terraces, hot springs, and steam vents all set amongst a beautiful native forest and grassland, and enjoy outdoor adventure in the heart of the New Zealand wilderness. Along the way, keep watch for sightings of native wildlife unique to this geothermal terrain.

On arrival at the end of the hike — at Lake Rotomahana — return to the reception area by complimentary shuttle bus to bring your independent tour to a close.

This was an absolutely walk down a fascinating valley and I would recommend it most highly. The views of the different lakes are fantastic and the information leaflet along with the panels along the way made for a great experience. Grateful also for the lift back up the hill!

Waimungu valley is staggering, there is a great deal of hot pools, hot springs, fumeroles etc. The algae give colour to the waters. the walk is very well signed. The bus back from the end is much needed.

You walk down the valley for a couple of miles before getting the bus back up the hill. The valley is a place of beauty and tranquility and is not crowded like Wai-O-Tapu. You start by seeing a series of steaming crater lakes with the last one being a brilliant azure blue. You

All (or most) of the action is between the entrance and bus stop 1. That is where we then caught a shuttle bus to the other end to do the boat tour of the lake, which was well worth it.

    自然が好きな人にはオススメです。 ロトルアの中心部からは離れますが、自然の中で癒されました。最後のバス停まで歩くのは1時間ぐらいかかりますが、あちこちに見どころがあるので全く飽きませんでした。
