About the operator
- E4110ASjuliew00Overpriced tour and underdeliveredWe went on this wine tasting tour. It was most disappointing 1st winery Marsden was good but lunch disappointing. The cruise ship had a Novo virus on board and eating from a shared plate with one set of utensils was unacceptable. Second stop was a hobby vineyard owned by an ex. American and he and an American man on the tour dominated the time on all sort of issues not related to wine (which was ordinary selection) Our driver should have cut the conversation short and got us to move on. The last vineyard did not give any commentary as to the wine tastings and our driver left us and came back 40 mins later. We were suppose to go to a Craft beer brewery... that didn't happen.
- thedalys12300Wine tourExcellent tour. Had a grreat time, visited some quite unique wineries. would highly recommend. Did this as a ship shore excursion and there were no hassles getting back to the ship on time
- Natashya T00Wonderful Wine TourWhat a wonderful wine tour we had. We saw and tasted and purchased from 3 vineyards in the Paihia region. From largest to the boutique vineyards so informative and interesting we all enjoyed the day and we made good friends. We will definitely be back. Thanks Ken so much fun.
- dillonabby00Wine tourWe had a fantastic time on the wine tour! Had some really good commentary on the way to the vineyards, a lovely platter. Then we went to the fat pig winery that was really nice to hear about the wines from the owner, we loved the white diamond wine! We also had to buy lemoncello at the next winery since it was so good!
- Brian D00Personalised Vino TourWe had a very personal trip with Bill our driver who gave us a lot of the local history. The first winery was changed to the Restaurant at the Stone Store with a great platter. Kanui wines tasted were good and then visited the Fat Pig. Enjoyed the wines especially the sticky. Finished at Sovrano Wines with a good selection of wines to choose with a bonus of Limoncello liqueur tastings. Overall a great experience.
- cath22202200Great way to spend an afternoonGood tour, great wine and very helpful guide. Thoroughly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon in the beautiful bay of islands.
- DKHKiwiPom00Wine & craft beer tasting tourVery good tour, our driver was on time and shared lots of history as we drove between wineries, highly recommend taking the tour
- kimgD6745KV00A great time had by allI arrange a tour for a group of people, some of who do not drink wine / are hard to please.. lol Reports came back that they all had an amazing time and would do it again. A lot of laughter, even before consuming the wines. Easy to book, great communication. They even picked up from our hotel. High recommend
- susanbE5654IV00Golfing GirlsA group of 6 went on your wine tour. What a great time we had touring around the area and the three tastings. The shared platter combined with wine tasting was fantastic.
- professional2ourist00A great wine tourI had a lovely day discovering the Northland wines. The tour guides and transport were excellent and I can thoroughly recommend them.
- AlisonT86400Excellent TourThis tour exceeded our expectations. Derek, our driver/host was friendly and informative. All three vineyards were exceptional in their own right and provided us with a great selection of wines and background information in a friendly and welcoming way. A truly enjoyable afternoon which we strongly recommend.
- candyvk202200Relaxing wine tourWe had a great tour with Ken on our New Years break. Very accommodating and lovely air conditioned van. My favourite winery was the Fat Pig, lovely owners and delicious boutique wines.
- 308mikaelam00A must do!Had the best time! 100% will be coming back for another tour. Ken was so friendly and helpful. Ake Ake was super generous with their tastings too.
- mrdaviswhite00Cheers!Great wine and food options. Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful tour guides. Would recommend this tour.
- ShanteePalmer00Awesome timeI must say we had the best time on this Wine tour, the Tour Guide was amazing and his knowledge of the area was fantastic, the place's he took us too were just as amazing I would recommend this tour for groups, work functions or family groups, ours was a work function and he made it the most amazing trip for us, Well done and thank you so much we had the most amazing time. If I have the chance I would do it again!!

Extremely disappointed!!! I booked the Glow Worm Tour as a Shore Excursion on my Cruise to New Zealand, through Expedia. In Bay of islands, ships are not docked on the port and use tenders to transport the passengers on shore. On 1st of Jan 2023, we were scheduled to visit Bay of Islands but due to rough waters the Captain decided to cancel the port of call as it was risky to transport passengers on the tenders. So we had to cancel our tour and we were hoping to get atleast some refund.
To our surprise after hours of calls and back and forth we were told Mullarkey Tours will not refund our money and will forfeit the full cost of the tour. Other passengers who had booked the tour through Royal Caribbean got their full refund. My suggestion is as ships are not docked on port in Bay of Islands, possibility of cancelling the port of call is high and you are better off booking directly with the ship as you will the money back if anything changes. I lost money!! Save yours!!

We arrived via cruise ship and highly recommend this tour for those looking for independent tours instead of ship tours. Small group and well run with professional and knowledgeable tour guide. The glow worms are glowy, and the cave itself is also a stunning work of nature. The kauri trees are majestic, and the forest preserve peaceful. So glad we got to experience both the caves and forest. We also enjoyed the small lunch break at Kawakawa. After visiting the art installation, we wandered into a local grocery store and purchased several local snacks to try. On our way back, we were given the option of being dropped off near the open market for more shopping or returning directly to the tender wharf. Just a very well done tour that let us sample some of the beauty of the area.

Worth the visit. The outside surroundings are so peaceful and beautiful, the location is tranquil and quiet. We have been to Waitomo but still enjoyed this less commercial location. The walkway/boardwalk inside is in good condition and the guide was knowledgeable and easygoing. Felt the price was a little high at $40 per adult and $20 per child.

We met up with Ken at the pier and started our tour promptly. As we drove towards the Opua Forest, Ken talked about the history and peoples of the area, very educational. We enjoyed the peaceful walk and sites through the Opua Forest, nice trail and not difficult. Next Ken drove us to the Caves where we joined another tour group. The Caves and Glow Worms were amazing. Overall Ken and the other tour guides were very friendly, courteous and informative. Ken dropped us off in Paihia where we soaked in the sights and shops. From there we took the free shuttle ride back to our ship.
Highly recommend this tour package for the smaller group size. We got lucky as there were only four of us. Keep up the good work!

We spent 4 hours of absolute bliss being hosted in Paihia with an exceptional tour of the Kawiti Glow Worm Cave and Opua Forrest Walk.
Ken, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to.
The time flew by and we will go back again. There is more to see and we will definitely want to have Ken take us around.
Thank you Ken for the most pleasurable experience we had in New Zealand!
PS: The free doughnuts were the best I've had in a long time and were the icing on the cake!! :-)

We stumbled across this local glow worm cave on our way to Paihia. We had a local Maori guide who was very proud of their Glow Worm Cave which had a family history behind it and made the tour even more interesting. The tour took about an hour and it was time well spent.

The overall trip was excellent, the guides and drivers were very good and knowledgeable. The glow
worm experience was a little over blown and over hyped in my opinion. The glow worms were very interesting but small and hard to see unless in very high concentrations. The forest walk was very
good as well, the old growth forest was impressive. Overall a very good experience!

Ken met us right off the wharf at the yacht club. He was a friendly and informative guide and even provided bottled water. The caves were fascinating! We also enjoyed the Opua forest walk and deepened our appreciation of New Zealand's commitment to maintain and preserve their wonderful natural resources. The last stop at the bakery was a real treat!

We will arrive On Ovation Cruise (Royal Caribbean) but i Dont know Where is they stop. I dont know if its close to Waitangi or in Waitangi.
I Want to be sure we’ll be Able to Catch the Tour to the cave to see the Worns.
What can i Do?

Hi traveller,
You actually tender at Waitangi, it takes a little while to get a shore from the Ovation. Once a shore if booked through a Royal Caribbean a bus will a wait and it will take around an hour to get there. It is very comfortable and very scenic.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
It is safer to book the trip through Royal Caribbean as the ship won’t leave you behind if problems occur.
Arrive 12/3 c. 8am Solstice ship. How do we get to Waitangi? Tell us the times we should get there so we don't miss the tour f. Waitangi at 9:30a ?
I keep checking I"M NOT A ROBOT but I guess u r not recv'g it. Sorry

Would like to arrange a private tour with others when our cruise ship is in port on 2/18/2020. Is that possible? Can we be picked up at cruise port? Do yo have an email to communicate with? Thanks!

You certainly can but please let the cruise know what you are doing. Make sure your private transport knows when you need to be back at the ship.
Does the cave tour have low ceilings or is any crouching required to go through? (Claustrophobic)

It is not Chlaustrophobic and does not have low ceilings. There may be one or two spots to watch out for if you are tall, but the guide will make sure you know.
